Old school for sure. That's the best part about this place. It's in arcade alley, which is also a must see in Nashville. Read the history on the alley and the peanut shop, pretty cool! The peanut shop is one of the original planters peanut shops, been there since 1927. Out of the 2000 shops they had around the country back in the day, only 4 are left. You walk in and it smells like roasted nuts. The warm salted roasted cashews were so good. They roast all their nuts there. If you like boiled peanuts this is the place to go. They have lots of other candy to choose from. We stocked up. The lady's that work there, super nice...gave us samples and tips on what to get. Great little nut store/candy shop. They still use the old school scales to weigh the nuts and candy. Wish more places like this were still around. read more

Five stars for great service at one of the few remaining Planters Peanuts stores (though the stores are now independent entities- most of the stores were closed when the company was sold years ago). The woman working the counter here was so nice and let us try a few different items in store and let us know what had been freshly roasted. In addition to the Nashville nuts, and some fresh roasted peanuts I got and lovedddd the fruit sours. 10/10 would recommend. Lots of nostalgic candy available as well as several kinds of nuts, in varying flavors and coatings. Over all a great stop inside The Arcade, one of the oldest indoor "malls" in the US. read more

Chocolate and nuts covered with chocolate. And they also have sugar free options, too! Just tasty stuff going on here, the great combination of salty and sweet. Friendly and helpful service. I'm a fan! read more

Person behind the counter was on the phone and didn't bother greeting us. Candy bins were all almost empty.

Popped by here twice during our visit to Nashville! Not for the peanuts, but for the POPCORN! They have an old-fashioned machine and cute little popcorn boxes. A variety of sweets and nuts as well, and friendly employees. Give it a try! read more

The Peanut Shop in the Arcade reminds me of HOME. I grew up in Charleston WV and we had a Planters Peanut Shoppe on the main street and every saturday we would go shopping downtown and my grandma would take us in the small shoppe to get some Fresh HOT Roasted Cashews for my Pa Pa and my daddy...and the smell was so awesome!!! So, now when I am in the arcade, I stop in..mainly to smell the aroma and take a quick time trip back to the early 70's and my life as a child...but NOW I go here for the HOT fresh Roasted Cashews...$3 for 1/4 lb. Great nuts and Great price!! A must if you are downtown... And a FREE EASY TIME TRIP back to my YOUTH!!! read more

Probably most iconic Shop in Nashville. If Not of The Arcade alley way Mall. So soft serve is not ice cream right. Well this is where you go for soft serve which is something you like usually if you just care about cold to lick on Because they have variety of stuff. They can coat the waffle cone for chocolate or vanilla. though do not know what the other peach and pineapple flavor stuff is about. They do milkshakes! They have a reasonable price. The coats are the same for toppings on ice cream. Very much harden fast. Say this because I tried their cherry topping with plain vanilla ice cream. It was good. They have things like caramels and candies from pecan pralines to ? danish candies mints. do not expect gummies and things. I like the place. They are also original if you compare them to other places so. Three And a half stars. read more

So glad I found this place, was staying at a hotel across the street. Along with delicious nuts, got turned onto Chris Stapleton, who had been playing on the radio and led to a great converstaion with the awesome whoman who runs the store. (sorry, didn't get her name) read more

You're so cramped up with the other customers you can't help but feel the charm of the place. Especially on a forty degree day and you're kind of enjoying the other person's body heat. But you won't tell them that. They are the peanut shop, and as such, have a huge selection of cashews, walnuts, peanuts in different seasonings and coverings. Thankfully there were some yogurt covered pretzels for the not so into peanuts girl, and they were very yummy. And reasonably priced as well! read more

YUM. I love the Peanut Shop. It's the perfect place for a 3:00 snack. Wait, not everyone has a 3:00 snack? Well you should! Just like the other reviewers say, it's mainly nuts and some chocolate--well, chocolate-covered nuts. The BEST are the dark chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels. Or, the milk chocolate almonds. Or, just the plain nut mix--cashews, almonds, and pecans. I could go on and on. It's a really tiny shop, and can get packed right after lunch--that's why I like to go around 3! If you are downtown, it should be a definite stop on your list of places to go! read more

If you are a local or tourist, you must know about the historic Peanut Shop. On a hot sunny day, stroll on down the Arcade (http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-arcade-nashville#query:arcade) and find this little shop right in the middle. They have excellent strawberry (with real strawberries) milk shakes that are sure to slowly lower your body temp. I like the straws that are split on the bottom to help you scoop up the pieces that don't squeeze through the straw. They also have vanilla, chocolate and mixed cones and cups. Ok, yes they have nuts! Yes, they have sweets! Yes, they are the master of putting milk and dark chocolate around any nut or candy you can imagine. They also have dried fruit and plain nuts. They also have mixed nuts that come plain or with chocolate. The staff that work here are just plain good people. You could say they are a bit crazy about nuts? :) Seriously, for just a few greenbacks, you can walk out with a 1/4 pound of an afternoon delight. Plus, it's just fun to look at the decor. Beware, making a decision in this place is not intuitive. There are so many fresh and wonderful options. Go nuts! read more

I have visited this place twice in the last year on our visit to Nashville. This place is awesome! Small establishment, but they have everything and anything you could imagine! A must go to place while in Nashville! read more

Candy, gourmet nuts, chocolates, and knick knacks cover the store inside the Peanut Shop at the Arcade in downtown Nashville. The downtown workers like to frequent this shop on a smoke or coffee break to get a little something to nibble on until lunch. Or they often stop in after grabbing lunch to get their fix of sweets. They sell Jelly Belly jelly beans, which my friend is nuts over. I came here to get their nuts, and let me tell you, they have lots of nuts. They keep everything in bulk bins and measure each purchase with an old fashioned, "over, under" scale, and they usually let it ride on the 'over' side. They use metal weights to balance the scale. The Peanut Shop feels down home and kitsch, but not in that terrible cracker barrel sort of way, more like just an old fashioned candy store. I think the wood floor helps with this vibe, the floor sort of creaks while you walk through the room. They sometimes have boiled peanuts, which are a southern delicacy. They are really tasty and worth trying. Also grab a few of the candied pecans to understand a little more about the Southern Heritage of Nashville. Everything should be sugared or salted, and having them both in your mouth at the same time is recommended. You will be nibbling forever if you go down this dangerous path, that's why their chocolate covered nuts, and pretzels are so irresistible. I bought some mixed nuts, and they tasted a little bit dry, so I imagine that most people just buy the candy from this store, and they don't move the nuts as quickly. Everything candied, or covered in sugar tasted fine though, it was just the regular nuts that were dry. So to be on the safe side, stick with the candy, and you will have a nice treat. read more

The peanut shoppe has a wonderful selection of plain nuts, chocolate covered nuts, toffee covered nuts, cinnamon covered nuts, you get the picture.... There is always something new or special to partake in as well. Boiled peanuts? Chocolate covered pretzels? Caramel covered popcorn? They have it. We love going in for a mid afternoon snack. If you can catch them right after they make the caramel corn, try it. It's soooo delicious fresh out of the kettle and still a bit sticky.... read more

I walked into this little shop, crammed with peanuts, seeds, chocolates, chocolate covered pretzels, and a popcorn maker in the corner, popping away the best smelling theater popcorn!!! I saw bags of kettle corn, candy, peanuts, cashews, chocolates.. but all I wanted was a bag of spicy boiled peanuts. I walked in and asked if they had any boiled peanuts and my question was answered with a couple of people nodding their head no. I don't get to the arcade often.. Parking is nearly impossible. but the next time I do, I will try again, for a bag of boiled peanuts. read more

When we worked downtown, we were regulars at The Peanut Shop. It's a tiny old shop with lots of options, nice folks, local (not a chain), and so tasty! There would often be a line of people out the door. If you go, look for the peanut design in the ceiling. Now that we've retired and are rarely downtown, we use their website to mail order gift bags/baskets of their roasted nuts and chocolate-covered nuts to friends and relatives far and wide. A Nashville tradition. read more

Old timey candy shop. It smells so good inside. I like to stop here for a sweet treat. My favorites are the chocolate covered peanut butter balls and the mixed fruit sours. They also have boiled peanuts and soft serve ice cream. read more

Every town deserves to have that small little shop where great-grandfather, grandfather, and father shopped for good snacks. It's a place where I take my kids and their eyes open wide in wonder. This is Nashville's special spot. This place is not nostalgic in the sense that it is decorated to look old. You know how Cracker Barrel works hard at doing fake really well? Well, this place isn't fake. It's the real deal because it's been around for ages. The scales and weights are older than your granny's granny. The candy counter is yummy, but it's the nut counter that blows me away. I love hitting the store when the Redskin Peanuts are fresh out of the oil, salted and resting. I always get an 1/8 of a pound with an 1/8 of a pound of fresh cashews...they mix them on the scale for me and then drop them in the old fashioned "Planters Nut Meats" bag. The hot peanuts warm up the cashews just right! Who knows why, but the nut meats here taste like you always wanted nuts to taste...vibrant flavor, fresh, with the best crunchy texture. Stop in and grab some nuts, a cold co-cola (in the bottle), and enjoy some friendly banter with the clerks and owners. I love this place for the snacks...but even more because I remember the warmth of love and surprise of men that have long been gone. Please, Peanut Shop, don't change a thing. read more

My name is JC and I'm a Peanut Shopaholic. I am adicted to the chocolate covered cashews (and walnuts for that mater). When paired with an orange soda, it's like taking a step back in time...until you step back into the dingy Arcade filled with pigeons and other questionable creatures. read more

I was honestly expecting more. The malt balls were good. Nothing overly exciting. Very small and dank

A Nashville Classic located in the Arcade in Downtown Nashville. If you have a craving for something salty or sweet this is the place.

This little shop has delicious treats. I bought the praline pecans and the butterscotch peanuts (amazing!!!!!!!!). I hear that from March to November they also serve up delicious ice cream. I look forward to trying that out very soon. The shop is old fashioned and quite charming and the staff was friendly. If you are in the mood for a nutty or chocolatey treat, highly recommend! read more

What a great place to shop. The staff here are friendly and the candy and nuts are always fresh. Great selection of some old time favorites too. One of the best places to get great tasting soft served ice cream. I don't know how they make it but its some of the best I have had. I gave Christmas tins from here this past year to just about everyone on my list and I never have had such enthusiastic responses to my gifts before. The tin selection for gifts is very diverse and is changed frequently. If you are in the downtown Nashville area make to sure to stop by here. read more

RANCID NUTS!!!!!!! Take your business elsewhere. Terrible customer service. I bought a lb. of chocolate covered walnuts (When I bought them they said a friend makes them for them) and the walnuts were rancid. I returned them to the store to ask for either a refund or something fresher and they refused to do anything or even apologize. I left the store leaving the nuts there they were so bad. I told the concierge in my building about the situation( I live downtown) and he said the nuts he bought there the last couple of times were bad too. So BUYER BEWARE. read more

I LUV Planters fresh roasted pnuts since I was a toddler. I heard bout the Peanut Shoppe but it took me @ 3 yrs to make it there on their weekday business hours. FRESH HOT ROASTED PNUTS again !
