Solid gin bar in the Intercontinental lobby. This place has all the makings of a memorable bar. A wide selection of gin from all over the world, a friendly and knowledgeable bartender to talk to you about each gin and cocktail, and an innovative cocktail program using a lot of homemade ingredients. $18 is steep even for NYC prices, however both cocktails I had were fine. The Singapore Sling was well balanced and not too sweet. The Hong Kong Soda? was very tasty with homemade Szechuan peppercorn cola, yuzu, and a gin from Asia. The bartender had some great recommendations for cool cocktail bars around the city. Thanks Alessandro!

I desperately needed a martini a la Blake Lively in, "A Simple Favor" and as such found a place that's known for their gin selection. The bar is right in the lobby of the Intercontinental. It's good, but it'll cost you...my one martini was $25. Pro tip: gratuity is included!

This is the lobby restaurant inside the Intercontinental Hotel. I came for restaurant week based on the menu I saw on the Restaurant week website. When I got there the menu was different. The food is nicely presented. The apps were really good. Calamari and the Sausage delicious The Skate entree was ok. It was slightly over seasoned. The Pork Lion was so so. It came with crackling that was so old it was like chewing leather. The deserts werenok. The sorbet was very tasty. The service was hit and miss. It took forever just to get bread and despite a empty restaurant it took a while to get food.

The Gin Parlor is inside of the newly renovated, very lux, Intercontinental hotel. Don't be deceived, this is no regular hotel lobby bar! The head bartender Jose treated us to a unique educational introduction to the world of gin. We learned about the history of gin, the different types, where they're made and then tasted a few of the classic gin cocktails. We started with the Quintessential G&T (that's gin and tonic) which was carefully prepared with a variety of fresh fruit and a house made tonic that is carbonated on the spot. It was finished with a juniper leaf attached to the glass so that one inhales the scent while imbibing. It was phenomenal. Next we had a drink I'd never heard of (and I'm pretty lushy so that takes some doing!). The Martinez is a gin cocktail made with Old Tom gin (this is a class of gin, not a brand name). Old Tom gin is aged, as exemplified by its rich brown color, and it's richer and sweeter than London dry gin (i.e. It's not Seagrams) the Martinez was different, tasty, and strong. Even the bar snacks were exceptional. We nibbled on roasted spiced nuts and what I believe was a truffled popcorn. I wish they'd bag and sell that popcorn! All in all it was more fun and a better experience than any hotel bar I've enjoyed in the US. Highly recommend! And if you see Jose, tell him Jami from Florida said hi!

Beyond burger with fries

Delicious! I had the beyond burger with fries. Love that they have vegetarian options and a beyond meat section of the menu. Prices are on the higher end but the setting is very pleasant, located off to the side of the upscale lobby of the Intercontinental Barclay. Servers are attentive and polite. Busy but not noisy, even on a Friday night.

It was my first time there but I was expecting the menu I saw online, not this new one. We tried 2 drinks: one inspired by Turkish figs and one inspired by lemons and the "Miracle Berry", which inverts your palate and turns sour into sweet! I really enjoyed both drinks. The figs one came with a sweet fig granola bite and the lemon one really did taste sweet after eating the "Miracle Berry"! I'd definitely come back to try their many other drinks.

I liked how they organized the menu by country/geography to facilitate an understanding of the flavor profiles. I got two of the date & fig-flavored smoked whisky drinks and it was a well made, balanced, and very good. Not cheap at some $25 or something, but middle of Manhattan with some creative ingredients means I guess it is what it is. Servers seemed a bit annoyed to have to deal with us shortly before close as I think they were hoping to usher people out and close down maybe a little early. One the one hand I get it, on the other hand you've got two paying customers on a slow night.

The unmarked entrance and doorbell immediately set the tone, and once inside it feels like you stepped out of Manhattan and into a dark, old New York cocktail lounge. The velvet seating, curtains, low lighting, and little private nooks make the whole place feel intimate without being gimmicky. That atmosphere is very much intentional. The Chelsea location is the original Raines Law Room and is built around that hidden speakeasy experience. The cocktails were beautifully presented, and I liked that this felt like a place where you could actually sit with friends and have a conversation rather than compete with loud music. We also ordered some meat, cheese, olives, and crackers for the table, which was perfect alongside the drinks without turning the night into a full dinner. What stood out most to me was how cohesive everything felt. The drinks, glassware, lighting, service style, and decor all fit the same mood. It feels refined and special without trying too hard. Pay special attention to the bathroom wall art. Definitely not an inexpensive night out, but for a true New York cocktail bar experience, I thought Raines Law Room was absolutely worth visiting. This would be especially good for a date night or drinks with a small group.

Patent Pending is has such cool speakeasy vibes, think dimmed lighting and candles at each table in a very intimate space. Our plan was to get wine and a cheese board however, the kitchen was closed due to a family emergency. We could only order chips or bar nuts with our drinks. Disappointing but what can you do? We ordered both the chips and bar nuts to go along with our drinks. And instead of wine, I opted for a cocktail! They have a pretty extensive cocktail menu with all these crazy concoctions. I went for the Strange Magic which was citrusy and refreshing. I'll definitely be back to visit again and hopefully next time will get the cheese board :)

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

The well-crafted cocktails present thoughtful riffs on the classics, inventive without being showy. While the dim lighting and intimate atmosphere practically beg for a secret rendezvous (there's an ostrich involved), I met up with a friend for the decidedly unscandalous purpose of doing our intention setting for the year over libations and nibbles. I opted for a pastel sour while my companion asked for a drink called The Last Word - it was no longer on the menu but they obligingly made it for us anyway. The menu consists of mostly small plates and is seafood forward, but we shared a petite dish of steak frites, tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. Our server was very sweet but service was slow on the night, and by the time we received our utensils the food was cold. However we were not rushed and were able to linger a bit to finish our conversation. For those who savor finely concocted cocktails paired with fresh raw bar offerings in a salon-like setting, this is the spot for you.
