I come into town once a month when my hubby is traveling for work. The Parlour has an easy online booking program so I can book on my time which I love! I always book a blowout even though they offer all the hair care services. The blowouts always end up beautiful and last for days. They have a great downtown location so I can walk from my hotel without having to mess with an uber. They do have a special on blowouts on Wednesday. The Parlour is a solid salon. read more

I truly cannot say enough wonderful and amazing things about The Parlour! I was attending a wedding in Grand Rapids and wanted to treat myself to a blowout and makeup application. A friend who now lives near Grand Rapids spoke highly of her experience at The Parlour, so I knew I was in good hands. The Parlour is located at the City Flats Hotel. Service from the start was truly wonderful and I felt like a princess the entire time I was there! I wish I knew the name of my stylist because she deserves a raise. Getting my hair or makeup done always gives me anxiety, but I've never felt more comfortable or at home. The stylist (again, I wish I knew her name!) talked to me while she washed my hair and together we figured out what kind of style to do for the wedding. We decided to do a sleek blowout because I typically wore my hair straight as is. I really loved that she didn't try to pressure me into a different style as well. My makeup was AMAZING! She made sure to ask questions to make sure of what I wanted and that I was comfortable with everything. I mentioned that I prefer a more natural look and every step of the way I was asked if I wanted something darker or lighter. I felt like my time and opinions were, which isn't something about every salon I've been to. Overall I plan on driving to Grand Rapids just to get my hair done again. A large group of girls had appointments for hair and makeup for my friend's wedding. We had the salon mostly to ourselves the whole morning. The salon is located next to CityFlats hotel and they offer several packages for weddings. They are also a regular salon open to the public. When we arrived, all the girls working were super friendly and showed us where to put our things and we all got started! Everyone was on schedule the entire day, which was impressive considering the number of people with appointments. I had my eyelashes and hair done and everything was amazing. My stylist listened to my ideas about how I wanted my hair and the results were really beautiful. One of the bridesmaids had called ahead and ordered food and mimosas for the group (provided by the hotel), which was a great idea for our long day. We had breakfast sandwiches, an assortment of fruit, cucumber water and 2 bottles of champagne for mimosas. You can also purchase wine, beer, and other drinks as well as coffee drinks from their bar! The cost for services was on par with other higher end salons in town, and the price included gratuity. (That may have been part of the wedding day packages we got.) I ended up buying a little pack of lipsticks that were near the front desk which actually matched some of the other bridesmaids perfectly! They also sell hair products and lots of other makeup. This is one of the best salons I've ever been too! The atmosphere is a perfect mix of modern and chic. I'm a regular customer and always see Delaney. She has such a warm and welcoming personality and it's easy to see she loves what she does. In my opinion she's one of the best stylists in Grand Rapids! She always puts her customers needs first, and definitely doesn't disappoint with her finishing product. My haircut was awesome; I actually had to look up the word 'awesome' in a dictionary to make sure that I was using it aptly and to its full potential. And yes, yes I am: my haircut is, and will be, awe inspiring. Emily is an extremely dynamic hair stylist and walks you through what she's doing as he's doing it, thusly you end up walking out of the place knowing your hair will look the same if you do it yourself after a shower or a water balloon fight (which you'll win, simply because of the higher self-confidence you'll have with the new haircut). I got my hair cut on my lunch break and she was very quick, but personable and friendly (I know that as a guy it's a faster process, but in case any of you girls want to cut all your hair off, she'll be pretty quick about it). When I got back to work, everyone marveled at my hair as they applauded me, standing up off of their chairs. I heard a woman faint as she exclaimed, "Must be the vapors!" A man, who I've never met before, shook my hand with a single tear rolling down his cheek and a child thanked me for inspiring them with a promise of achieving greatness. Booked an appt 5 months out from my June 8th/19 son's wedding with Brittany. I called 2 weeks prior to verify times (I had also booked for other family members) I was informed that day that Brittany was no longer working there, Grace would be doing my hair and makeup. Someone should have called me! Anyway, Grace did my makeup which was decent other than she couldn't see my lower lashes to apply mascara - they were clumpy (I feel like the mascara was old as well) I had to redo once I got back to my hotel. Then she attempted to curl my hair which was not very good plus I needed it to have some height - not good! I basically had to redo my hair as well. I am really wishy-washy when it comes to what I want and she does a great job and guiding me towards what will look good on me and making me look fabulous. If I didn't have to give a star then I would give ZERO!!! I was the Mother-of-the-Bride, showed them the hairstyle that I wanted - it was a very simple blowout with a flip and volume. Instead she gave me a hairstyle that was from the 1950's. She flattened my hair with gel. It was a complete nightmare!!! She was arrogant and when I asked her for height/volume she teased my hair in three spots and said, "Here's your height!" I don't know her name, but she had short brown hair with tattoos and I would recommend never, ever go to her! It was my daughter's wedding and it was the worst way to start the day. More importantly, now when I look at the pictures and see a flat, lifeless hairstyle - I have to explain that it was due to this salon. I paid the bill for $500 for the bridal party that morning. When I called the next day and explained how unhappy I was with my hair, they refused to give me a refund (I was only asking for my hairstyle and they said no, yet I paid $500 for everything!!). So unprofessional, arrogant, rude and careless with their work! I would NOT recommend them at all! read more
