First time brow wax here and it was great! I had Emily and she did an excellent job! She made conversation easily and my brows looked great! I'll definitely be back! Remember to bring coins for street parking or park at the library. read more

Callie is amazing. She is so welcoming and makes me feel comfortable. She does great work and pays such close attention to detail. My brows look thick, shapely, and the best color for skin/hair. She's the best! Also. the shop is warm and inviting. It always smells great, too. LOVE DTWN Sassafras! read more

Excellent Service and friendly staff Naimi is the best. Nice friendly environment, Easy to find parking.

The staff here are always friendly, quick, and do a good job. What I love most though is the schedule flexibility and variety of hours available. The location is convenient, the establishment is clean, and payment/tipping is easy. Appointments can be made over the phone or online. Parking - street parking, not usually an issue (even around lunch or dinner hour, I can usually find an open meter, so make sure you have the Motu app or quarters on hand). Thanks to Sassafras for your consistency :) read more

First timer for bikini wax! My experience was excellent and easy! I highly recommend this salon. I went to the Downtown location.

Highly recommended for Brazilians! I've been to other waxing salons (yikes!) and Sassafras downtown is THE best! I will never go anywhere else. Easy street parking is always available. If your nervous about it, don't be! The salon is clean and the staff is great at making you feel comfortable. Chyna is great and meticulous which I appreciated. read more

Sassafras Salon has been my favorite salon in Grand Rapids for several years now. I always come here for sugaring services and I have had several estheticians over the years -- each one has always done a great job. They also have a big selection of post-waxing products to minimize discomfort & ingrown hairs, and everyone is always so nice and helpful. The environment here is always so positive and I always feel so good after my appointment! read more

I was nervous about getting a lash lift and tint because I've had friends and family who had mixed results at different salons. The reviews for Sassafras were all positive though and it's close to my home so I decided to try it. The results were amazing. My normally thin, blonde lashes look dark, thick and gorgeous. Thank you Sassafras Salon! read more

Sassafras Salons - Waxing Near Me - Grand Rapids, Michigan

It was my first time for Brazil wax, so I keep going there but one day I was about 3 mins late cuz I couldn't get a parking spot, after driving for 25 mins there and the front desk girl said I was late and she couldn't let me. I said I can wait and there was no one in the lobby but her. So I said screw it. Not coming back here again. I go somewhere since then. European Wax on 28th Street is fast and easy. read more

I didn't care for Sassafrass in Grandville so I tried the Downtown GR location. I loved the esthetician but there were still hairs leftover when I left from my underarm and Brazilian wax. The same thing that happened at the Grandville location. My hair also grew back much quicker than other places. read more

I have been coming here for over a year now and would never go anywhere else! Callie is amazing - appointments always run perfectly! Staff at the front desk are welcoming and kind! The one time things were running a bit behind - i was immediately notified and planned accordingly. read more

Friendly aesthetician. Great job on my Bikini lines. I think the prices are a little high for a simple bikini line & may consider going elsewhere. read more

My new favorite place for all things waxing and more! Izabel was so friendly and warm and made me feel very comfortable. I was interested in waxing services and a friend suggested Sassafras. I've been going for about 5 months now and I love it! Everyone is so friendly and helpful with any questions. Even moving appointments is fast and easy. Shout out to Izabel who I go to regularly now. I'm very happy with this place!! read more

I liked the front staff at this location better than my experience in the Grandville location, however, in Grandville I had a better waxing experience. I knew at the moment I was there that the tech pulled on extra strands of my hair and did not use good technique on left sideburn just by the initial feeling but now a few days after, I'm still having pain and the left sideburn is full of bumps and bruised. (She seemed a bit rushed, and I was there on time so time shouldn't have been an issue.) I'm VERY happy I did not use this visit to try eyebrow waxing for the first time -- I think I'll stick to threading. I'll try to visit again to see if my experience is different but if my skin gets any worse, I'm not too sure. Would love to hear about everyone's experience and any specific techs you recommend. read more

I've been going to Sassafras for about 3 years now. They are amazing, especially if it's your first time getting a wax. I was terrified at first, but now I don't even know how I dealt with shaving before discovering how awesome waxing is. Highly recommend! read more

10/10 recommend Callie. I've gone back to her a good handful of times for Brazilian waxes and she is quick, professional, a great conversationalist, and thorough. Rarely is there ever a missed hair and never any breakage. She is truly a master at her craft. read more

As a last minute, I sent a message asking for an appointment. Underarm and Brazilian ( which I've had years prior) - it was a quick reply and luckily an open time slot. Professional, clean, & friendly experience. I will recommend to everyone. Thank you for being willing to make it work for me. Quick, efficient, and good service ( pricing too). read more

First time here and will definitely come again. Very professional with a clean and relaxing environment.

Very clean and friendly. My experience with Chyna was wonderful, she made me feel comfortable and relaxed during my wax. I recommend 10/10, and i'll be returning back in 4 weeks. read more

I love that this is a waxing only place. Experts at their craft. Megan did a great job and she was super nice. They use wax that is the peel off kind, so no paper strips. It was actually painless considering that you are ripping hair from your body! This is now my go-to place in GR for waxing services. Thanks ladies! read more

The owner is an absolute gem and can flip your day from a terrible one to a great one. That is just on his personality alone. The service of the salon is one of a kind. The salon is clean and adorable. I highly recommended this place to anyone who is in a need of a wax and wanting to feel better walking out then when they walked in. read more

This was my first visit to Sassafras and immediately they've earned a 10/10! The estheticians are so friendly and knowledgeable, and even though it was my first waxing experience, I felt comfortable and calm throughout the process. I definitely would recommend Sassafras to anyone! read more

Haylie was awesome! She was very thorough and helped me understand the importance of exfoliating!

Go see Alejandra at the Grandville location, you won't be disappointed! She not only made me feel so comfortable during the wax, but her work was awesome too!! I will definitely be recommending her to my friends and family when they're looking to get waxed. Thank you, Alejandra! read more

All the ladies that work here are so nice and friendly! They make you feel right at home. They don't use strips, a different type of wax that hardens. I have sensitive skin and this hardly irritates it in comparison to the strips. read more

I have been to sassafras a few times. The experience from the estheticians were okay. However, my last appointment was canceled 2 hours before I was supposed to go into the salon. The receptionist stated that she would need more time for my wax and that I booked to close to closing time. But the spot I chose was available online and why wasn't I notified earlier? It seems ironic that the owner complains about people canceling on her when her salon did just the same to me. Although I haven't interacted with the owner, I can tell by her responses to the yelp reviews that she is abrasive and unprofessional. If you ever have a complaint it will be replied to with an excuse. Criticism is obviously not taken well by the owner. I will not be coming back here nor will I recommend this salon. I would suggest Waxology in East Grand Rapids. She is accommodating and does a great job! read more
