As well I noticed great work from neighbor stylists. Comfortable environment that offers reading material, coffee, soda, sparkling water or bottle water. Regretfully, I do not recommend this salon. Despite providing pictures of the haircut I wanted, each of the two visits needed a correction & I now have to wait for months for my hair to grow out... I've debated posting this, but I don't want anyone else dealing with a last minute scramble for an important event. The Tuesday before Prom, I booked an updo with Fusion Salon and was relieved they had an opening for Friday. That night, I got a voicemail saying the stylist I booked with didn't do special occasion styles and I needed to find another salon. I rushed to book elsewhere Wednesday morning, only to get a confirmation voicemail from Fusion later that day for the appointment they told me to cancel and find elsewhere. I did not keep my appointment with Fusion. I expected better from a highly rated full-service salon--especially for something as common as a prom updo. read more

I had Elise for my highlight touch up. She was very thoughtful in making sure she understood what I wanted my color to look like and clarified several things I hadn't thought of (I wanted a gradual transition back to my natural hair color). She also gave me a nice curled hairstyle afterwards and gave recommendations for future steps to get back to my natural hair color without making dramatic or expensive changes. I am telling you all book Taylor and then when she is done tip her good. She is patient, and can carry out a plan to completion. In my first conversation with Taylor, we discussed what I had in vision in my mind. First visit, as you read before, was part 1... hello brassiness. But i knew that it would not be like that for long, The second part to the process, Taylor was able to create dimension for my curls, also framing my face with the blond and teach me how to style my curly hair. Don't judge my hair length, it was cut by someone else from Jeffrey Richards Salon, and yes it is crocked and I won't be going back, I found another hair home. I had a lot of time to see all the other girls work as well. Both Taylor and Dakota are excellent with hair. Process 3 will happen after hair has recooped. I just want to personally thank and give props to Taylor, she did a fantastic job with my request, I didn't want certain areas touched for sake of their health. So she was able to create a look for me, where I didn't have to hinder the health of my baby hairs. read more

As a native Californian, my hair standards are high. The past year, I have home for the holidays and did my hair then, but I desperately needed a new 'do now. Scrambling to find a salon on a Saturday morning, I called around to a few places in Grand Rapids and luckily, as fate would have it, Fusion Salon had one last spot open. Highly Recommend: TAYLOR! Over the past 2 years, I've bleached my hair repeatedly with balayages, ombres, crazy coloring which left my hair brittle and thin. The upkeep of coloring was too much and I got lazy (and cheap) so quality products were on the back burner as well. I decided to get a fresh new look for spring and to cut the super dead ends. Fusion Salon is located along Wealthy Street, nearby the famous Donkey Taqueria, The Winchester, Rowster Coffee, etc. Ironically, it is a couple doors away from the Jeffrey Richard Salon, another AVEDA salon. Entering inside, Fusion Salon was spacious, bright and welcoming. The receptionist warmly greeted and checked me in. I waited about 5 minutes until my hair stylist, Taylor, greeted me as well. She apologized for the delay, as they called me earlier to reschedule from 4PM to 4:30PM but it was no problem for me and they called me ahead of time. She sat me down and we chatted a bit and I told her I was going for a radically new hairdo and the limitations of my damaged-color, thin hair. I showed her a few pictures and she happily received my suggestions and we settled on a cute hair style. I received a nice shampoo/conditioner wash and we chatted in between. Taylor is a MIRACLE WORKER. She took the time to wash my hair and cut it level by level (despite barely having much hair) and placed tonic and mousse prior to a long blowdrying and hair curling session. She informed me about how to curl my hair, what types of products to use, etc. This sounds like a lot of chatting but honestly, Taylor struck a great balance between being focused on working and engaging me. Multiple times she complimented the progress and encouraged me to feel my hair as we went along :) The end product was great! My hair was shorter, no longer flat, quite voluminous, and seriously felt healthier and lighter with all the bleached ends gone. I must have cut off around 6" on average and I have zero regrets. She spent the full hour working on my hair without breaks or wasted time-- I really appreciated that. I bought a few products and left a sincerely happy customer. Taylor and the staff there are young, amazing, and definitely experienced! Serendipitously I found my new hair salon in GR and I definitely will be back. She is easy going and always listens to what you are looking for when it comes to cut/color + will make sure you love it before you leave. Overall, it seems that the stylists who work here are professional, friendly and very talented. When I chose to try Fusion I expected that on Wealthy it would be very pricey and there wouldn't be much parking but it's very reasonably priced and normally there are always spots out front to park. A fellow Yelper/friend recommended her facial she got here from Alison so I thought I would check it out too! I was greeted warmly upon arrival by a few ladies at the front desk who checked me in and got me all set with a drink while I waited for Alison to be ready for me. A few minutes later Alison came and got me. She took me to a private room near the back of the salon. I have only had a facial one other time, so take this for what it is worth. I thought the process was very thorough. Alison did a great job at asking about my skin, trouble areas, what kind of skin do I have, etc. She also did a great job at explaining each process and what each product was good for when applying it to my face. I think she did a great job at giving me a facial. Oh and the salon is an Aveda salon, so Alison used Aveda products (which I adore). My skin afterwards felt super clean, more alive and youthful. I got my hair colored here last summer and then needed a haircut in December. Sadly after I scheduled my haircut something went wrong. They lost my reservation or it accidentally got canceled. I was really upset because I wanted my haircut before a Christmas party but they were able to squeeze me in. I still give them 5 stars because they were very apologetic about and offered me a free hair cut. So even though it was after the party I still decided to schedule the haircut again. I moved to GR from Chicago, and it is always panic-inducing to find a new hairstylist. Per the suggestion of my Chicago stylist, I sought out an Aveda salon near my house and was randomly paired with Tiffany. Boy, did I luck out! Tiffany is sweet, smart and a great conversationalist. Most importantly, she has given me one of my favorite cuts and styles of my adult life, and some great styling hints and tips as well. Her highlighting skills are top-notch, as well. The salon is modern, clean and well-lit, and pretty quiet, as far as salons go. Prices are definitely reasonable (especially compared to Chicago!) They use all Aveda products and colors. When I called in to make an appointment, I scheduled him for my mom and I should have scheduled the following appointment with him also. This man did wonders on my mom's hair. After I was finished with my hair cut (done by someone else), I wasn't too happy, but I didn't know if I just had to get used to the big change. Then looked at my mom and was AMAZED! He knows what he's doing!!!! I wasn't too impressed with my haircut, looked nothing like the photo I gave her. If I went in myself and just got my hair done, I would have rated the salon 2 stars. But Trevor is definitely someone to go see and saved this rating. I'm actually planning to schedule and go see him for my next haircut. I thought I would take someone else and see how they did bc I already heard all the rave about Trevor. My mistake. Should have just went to him, instead of learning the hard way. I asked my mom what picture she showed him and she showed him a picture and he gave his feedback and she said, "Do whatever you think looks nice..." And what do you know? He worked his magic. I cannot say enough good things about him. He took his time and in the end, my mom looks great. My mom is happy with her cut, and I'm happy I found this salon. This place is great! I generally just go for a cut so I couldn't talk to the coloring aspect of their services, but everything is very professional and well done! They get you into your appointment on time and make sure they fully understand what you want done before beginning. After moving here from Illinois it was scary to find a place that I could trust, but Fusion was (and is) a great choice! I also recently got my eyebrows waxed for the first time, and although it was pricey ($17 as I remember), I was pleased with the results! This is probably the first time I have taken the time to write a bad review. My daughter had an apt made the day before her graduation for a cut and color at Fusion Salon in Grand. She goes in for her apt, they color her hair, and then tell her they dont have time to cut it. She says well I made an apt for a cut AND color and I graduate tomorrow, can you please cut it? The woman doing her hair walks away, comes back and says well I guess you did, but I dont have time. I guess you can come back around 7:30 before we close and get it cut, but we are going to charge you $50. ($10 more then their website says a haircut is, and $15-20 more then she would have paid with a color/cut combo) my daughter agreed because graduation was the next day, but calls me upset and crying because they were rude to her, it was more $ then she had, and she had just been having a really bad day. So then I call them because it wasn't my daughters fault they didn't schedule enough time, and I want to know why not only does she have to drive all the way back over to the salon, but has to pay more $, when it was no fault of hers. So I wanted to see what we may be able to work out, and I thought she had perhaps misunderstood. They started out being really rude to me as well, but I shut the rudeness down quick. She tried lying to me about the price of haircuts, but I had the website pulled up. She finally backed down a little and says that shy can come back at 7:30, and will only charge her $40 for a haircut. I agreed, and was fairly decent to her even though she was rude because I know it's going to be impossible to get her hair cut anywhere else the day before graduation. They then call shyasia at 7:15 PM and tell her that they wont be cutting her hair at all, and feel better If they just part ways. I was in the process of calling them at that time because I was going to pay for shys haircut over the phone to surprise her. They click over to me and start telling me what they just told my daughter. I just kind of sat there in shock for a second because I wasnt rude or out of pocket like I wanted to be the first time I called.. I hear what must of been the stylist say "I even have to ask her to straighten her hair when she comes in, exactly why I dont like to style ethnic that's like nappy". After hearing that, I realize I'd never allow her to go back there anyway...and I got so pissed I dont even remember what I said. But they were combative and anything but apologetic. read more
