I have been coming to Siren & Proper for years now for a variety of different services: lashes, brow mapping & microblading, and I have seen 4 of their artists so far. The salons are always very clean and sterile. The environment is warm, beautiful, and welcoming but you also feel comfortable that it is sanitary. Every artist I have had has been professional, highly skilled and super friendly. S&P is not going to be your cheapest option for lashes, brows, etc. HOWEVER, they will be the highest quality. There are just somethings you shouldn't bargain shop for... a face tattoo is ONE of them. I absolutely recommend S&P and will continue to send people their way. I am a definite fan! read more

I've gone to Siren & Proper since 2016 for brow shaping. I really like the ambiance and Lisa is very sweet and communicative while shaping. Unfortunately I had a severe allergic reaction and burn after my last shaping. I'm not sure if their wax or products have changed but my eyelids have been itchy, swollen and painful. I had my appointment four days ago and have yet to feel relief from the pain. If you have allergies, make sure to ask about the products prior to having anything applied to your face. Update: day five and my eyebrow hair is falling out. I can't believe this. read more

I come here and get my lashes done by Meg who is great! I've been having my lashes done for about 5 years, first in chicago then Las Vegas. Moving from Vegas to grand Rapids was a bit of a Sticker shock (Lash fills generally are about half the price in Vegas that they are here) so originally I signed up for an appointment at siren and proper while I looked for somewhere a bit cheaper but I ended up staying because they are SO PROFESSIONAL. As someone who's tried a few places over the years you really want someone who's good so your lashes don't twist, stay attached, don't have gobs of glue, etc... also siren and proper is easy to schedule, helpful, nice to visit, clean, heated beds, etc. in the end I found out the price issue is really just that it's expensive here in Grand Rapids, you might pay a very slight bit more here but it's so worth it. read more

I started out small. I scheduled a lift and tint. I was impressed with the example pictures and excited because I have naturally long lashes. I had an "experienced" tech so initially felt comfortable. I spent the next hour laying there having no idea what she was doing. I essentially left with my lashes looking obnoxiously curled by an eye lash curler with no obvious color improvement. Several of my lashes were shaped into a bizarre shape based on the method used so they were essentially permanently crooked. I let them grow out and chalked it up as a loss. Fast forward to 3 months before my wedding. Siren and Proper posted a special for one of their newer girls to do a full set. I figured I would try it out to see how I liked it prior to my wedding day. The girl I had was super sweet. It took the entire 3 hours and I lost a lot of lashes following. I chalked this up to having a newbie so scheduled my fill with one of the experienced (and most expensive) girls. She was great, explaining what she was doing and that lash retention depends on several factors. I continued with her for biweekly fills until my wedding. My lashes following a fill were incredible for a week or so. After that they fell out leaving large bare patches. I was told to change was I used to wash them, etc. which wasn't the issue. In the end, I couldn't continue paying the insane price biweekly for upkeep. My lashes were removed 4 months ago and they still haven't recovered. They remain short and sparse. Bottom line: you will pay an insane amount for something that is not a long term option and will ruin what you have naturally. AVOID. read more

This is the place for brows. I have been to a few places for brows and this has been the best. They are meticulous. I had been looking for a good place to get my eyebrows done for months when I stumbled across this place. It happened to be very close to where I live so I decided to give it a try due to the convenience of the location. I went in to get an eyebrow shaping after having my brows run loose for months and left feeling refreshed and put together. My eyebrows were shaped to perfection and looked much cleaner than any place I had previously gone to. The atmosphere of this place is fantastic as well, not your typical salon chair and rushed appointment feel. I was pleasantly surprised with how you get a very 'spa' experience here. When getting your eyebrows done you lay down on a spa bed and can relax and have an actual conversation with your stylist, which is very appreciated especially since COVID has made many of us loose that more social aspect of our lives. LOVE Siren & Proper. I've been getting my lashes done just about every 2 weeks since December and every single time I leave the salon I'm still amazed by the artistry! I have seen multiple artists depending on availability. Everyone comes at different price points based on experience. Seriously though- choose anyone really and they'll be good! I did my research and looked through pictures to see if the place could meet my expectations. The pictures and reviews of other customers looked good so I decided to book for myself and my friend. I originally wanted a brow shape and tint, my friend wanted a brow shape, tint and eyelash lift. I was 10 mins late so she decided she couldn't tint my brows and got started on them. As I said I was late, so I noticed she was rushing through them, in my opinion if you don't have time just say that instead of proceeding. The conversations were nice but the service was definitely rushed and I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with my brows. I usually do them myself or get them threaded in the mall for $12, and honestly I myself or the mall could've done better for cheaper. I'm embarrassed to post my brows but I will to show what I'm talking about. My shape is different on both eyebrows and they're terribly uneven. As for my friend, she had her service preformed by another lady. Her brows were also uneven, and could've had a better tinting with beard dye at home. Both of our services together came up to about $200-$230 all for my eyebrows to look worse than they did when I came in, and my friends eyebrows are worse or there's no difference at all in her eyelashes. When I complained we just received a bunch of excuses on how we also pay for their time and their products they used, but what about our time and our money that we payed for the service?! I do not recommend this place as it just looks fancy and feels fancy, but my expectations were not reached and we both left upset and disappointed. Will not be coming there again will just stick to my $12 mall threading. read more

Got my brows did. I called for a last minute appointment and thankfully they were able to accommodate me. My brow artist was Masha and she was nice. Got me out of there in about 20 minutes. She applied the ointment to reduce redness and she re-applied the make-up she had wiped off to do my brows. Great experience! read more

First of all.. One of the most baddest, greatest and lovely novalash specialist is at this location. Her name is Christina and she is the owner. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with her (I made it a month and a half in advance) and she was incredible. She listened to exactly what I wanted and she exceeded my expectations. Christina was so fun to talk to and you can tell she is super passionate about what she does and loves doing it. She is an artist and she worked magic on my lashes! I came here today for my very first set of lashes for my wedding! I absolutely loved Kalie, she was gentle, efficient, and it overall was a very relaxing experience. After getting the lashes applied there were a few extra minutes so I got my brows shaped, and I have to say she is the best I've found in Grand Rapids! In addition, Steve kinda runs the show over at Siren & Proper and really creates a welcoming environment. He also advises you VERY well on what you need for future visits. I went in with my mom for a lash lift and tint as her christmas gift, and was extremely disappointed with the results. We had absolutely exceptional customer service and every employee that we interacted with was so kind, but the products that they used did not work. My lashes curled slightly but my moms didn't at all, and we were even told after that the products hadn't been working for other customers. My complaint about this is that we wasted about $150 for no results, which is extremely disappointing. Again the place was really nice and the employees were great but I'd really suggest warning customers before they spend the money that it may not work for their eyelashes. If I could just rate the service, I would give it 5 stars because it isn't the employees fault the product doesn't work, but I think higher management needs to either get new products or warn customers before, especially since I know other people had similar experiences. read more

I was so excited that Christina Lynn could get me in for a brow shaping appointment at such short notice. I had been growing my brows out for about two months and finally decided it was time for some serious love. I've been dying to go to Siren and Proper for a long time now and being in town was the perfect excuse. Christina owns the salon and she is an amazing human. She loves what she does and truly cares about what you want done, but also knows what will look best. She took time and even explained my brows to me and we even discussed some possible microblading in the future. I've always wanted to do microblading and some places have told me I would need the entire brow down. Not Christina. She knew exactly which parts I would need done. She's completely spoiled me and I will definitely be going back to her, keep in mind I live on the east side of the state. My friend being from Cali was completely blown away by the pricing. He figured for the amount of time she took with me and care that it was going to be a Malibu price. :) I HIGHLY recommend Siren and Proper. I have been going to Christina for the past couple of years until I wasn't coming home to visit my parents as often or didn't have the time while I was in town. Christina is quite talented, and her accolades in having won the first ever NovaLash Artist of the Year competition don't do her justice. She is passionate about what she does as she has been able to open this shop coming from across the street and becoming an owner and teaching others. I think she knows more about lashes and eyebrows than anyone else I know. Unfortunately for me, I haven't been able to get on her schedule when I am in town, but she has an amazing staff, too. There's a well-deserved shout out that goes to Jolynn and Kaity who really patch me up when I have totally needed it. I've been getting my lashes done for maybe 4 or 5 years or so now, and haven't been able to find anyone in Chicago that can do my lashes like they do here. Shortly after my appointment I was sent an email asking me to book more appointments in the future. I will NOT be booking more appointments at Siren and Proper. I had a nightmare experience. The girl that waxed me asked me why I was getting my eyebrows done, and I told her that my sister was getting married this weekend and I was the maid of honor. She answered, jokingly, that she was always nervous to do brows for big events. I laughed and shook it off, trusting her. My face normally gets red after appointments, so I went home and iced my face. It became clear very quickly that I had suffered burns from my appointment. Between my brows and below my arches are completely singed, and my skin is scarred. I am standing in my sisters wedding this weekend and have burns in the middle of my face. This was my first and last appointment at Siren and Proper. In any of my other waxing in my 22 years this has NEVER happened. Please do not make the same mistake I did and PLEASE go somewhere else!!! It is not worth the "trendy salon" feel because they clearly do not know what they are doing and overcharge you to treat your skin poorly! read more

Just a heads up make sure you read all the forms that are given to you. I went to Siren and Proper on a Tuesday. I informed them that I have had lash extensions before but I needed the the sensitive lash glue and did they have this type of glue in their establishment. They reassured me they did so we started the procedure the right eye was great no irritation but when she started on the left eye it was ok to but she stop for a min and went to got something when she came back she started with my the left eye again but it started string a little but it calm down so I really didn't think any more about it. After I left the facility I started having more irritation. I went to sleep that night I woke up with my left eye swollen and irritated. I called the next day to tell them that I was having allergic reaction to the glue and could I get in to get them removed immediately. They told me that they didn't have anything available until Monday. I had to go through the rest of the week with irritating eyes and no opportunity to get them removed until Monday. There was no type of concern no type of apology or anything else and on top of that I asked if I could get a percentage of my money back because it has not even been a full week and they told me that unfortunately they were unable to give me anything back and gave me a phony I'm sorry. if you go to this place make sure you do your research prior to going and ask for a test to see if you are allergic to it because you definitely will not get any amount of your money back if they do the procedure. Hopefully you will have a more of pleasant experience and they make you feel that they care about you and your eyes because I definitely didn't feel they valued me. read more
