I did not want to bleach it to get it a vibrant red, but most permanent hair colors don't hold with my grey without bleaching. Sarah is the best hair stylist I've ever been to! She couldn't have been kinder or more knowledgeable. My hair is the best it's ever been! A little backstory - I left for Colorado for my wedding and got possibly the worst highlights of my life at another salon. Sarah was able to fix this disaster (streaky orange highlights on brunette hair see the pictures at the end of my review) by color correcting everything, blending and adding more highlights, and basically saving my hair for my wedding. She initially matched my hair based on what I told her. I then told her I had the colors from my Austin stylist if she wanted to see them. When I made my haircut appointment at the Parlour I told them I didn't care who cut my hair. And I am so lucky that they put me with Chad! Chad was awesome, really nice, easy to talk to and most importantly, extremely knowledgeable about hair. I have really curly hair that I often straighten so I needed a hair cut that I could wear curly as well as straight. Chad knew exactly how to do this! The place we went to have it fixed, couldn't even straighten it out because a big chunk was missing on the bottom left side. I'd give one star but stylist has always been nice during previous visits. This Parlour location holds 8 chairs and is in the quaint Highlands neighborhood, much different than their giant bustling downtown location. They are picky about who they hire and require that each stylist fulfill an intensive training and apprenticeship program (in addition to their regular schooling). As a result of their high standards, you walk away with great hair! This salon is filled with some serious rockstars in the world of hair. Jannelle is a platform artist for American Crew and has done hair for Fashion Week. Phil is VERY experienced and not only does great work but is good company for your time in the chair. And I have seen some of the HOTTEST redheads step out of Libby's chair. Gabe is my overall favorite stylist with great prices and amazing attention to detail. He is GREAT with color and will give you what you want! For me, the bolder the better. I've actually had hair stylists from other salons come up to me and ask me who does my hair! Oh and there are two straight men working in this salon, how rare is that? EDIT: I almost forgot to mention they offer GOOD beer, wine, water and sodas! It was time. My hair was getting ridiculous. It had been months since my last haircut. I wanted to grow my hair out, but I made the mistake of thinking that I could grow my hair out without ever getting a haircut. Big mistake. So, my wife suggested the Parlour. Specifically, she referred me to her stylist, Chad. It started out on a high note and didn't go down from there. When I arrived, I was greeted by the bubbly receptionist, who quickly asked me what I wanted to drink. "What are my options?" I asked. Something something something "beer." Specifically, Great Divide DPA or Colette. Getting to sip on a Colette while getting my hair cut? Perfect. After only a few minutes, Chad came out to meet me and took me to his station, my Colette still in hand. Chad built in a few extra minutes into my appointment so we had time to go over what I wanted. He discussed with me what I wanted, and how he would accomplish that. Fast forward. The time flew by. Chad is definitely one of the least awkward stylists I have had to deal with. Easy to talk to, discusses with me each step of the cut. The final result was one of the best haircuts I have had. And to boot, The Parlour does free "touchups" so I can grow out my hair in confidence. The cherry on top? $10 discount for my wife referring me to Chad. When you go, say Jarrod M. from yelp sent you, maybe you can get the same thing. read more

To disclose right away: I only went there for an eyebrow wax. I didn't get my hair cut. This place does not have a separate room or area for brow waxing. They don't even do it at the sinks like I've seen in some places. I was directed to a regular salon chair and told to slide down until I could balance my neck on the back of the chair. I ended up bracing myself with my legs against the wall in order to stay in position--super uncomfortable! Plus I felt weird getting waxed in a pretty crowded room with people walking by on the hardwood floors shaking my chair--scary when there are tweezers and scissors near your eyes! I think that a place that charges $17 for an eyebrow wax should at least have a separate room (where normally you lie on your back) or a comfortable chair. I felt weird that I could see the street through the window, meaning passers-by could see me! It seemed like cool place, maybe I'll go back for a haircut, but definitely not again for my brows. I have been going to The Parlour Highlands for just over a year after trying a few different places around town that I was never crazy about or felt like they really cared. It takes a lot for me to find someone I trust with my hair and actually enjoy hanging out with for a couple hours while doing it. So much so that I didn't color and rarely cut my hair for a few years unless I could see my girl in FL from where I moved during a visit. Not convenient but she was a gem and I never had to tell her what I needed or wanted - I just trusted her decisions with the color and scissors. So you can see why it has been so hard to find someone I like and trust to that degree again. But, the time came where I really really needed to find a local gem to take great care of my hair...and I found him! Chad has been cutting and highlighting my hair via recommendation from a friend and I absolutely love him. He has been the best with a cut that is conducive to my lifestyle and age, yet still easy to take care of. If there is something I have in mind that he does not think will fit my face/skin tone/etc., he will be honest and tell me, which I think some stylists find hard to do. He is incredibly personable, which makes the time in the chair like hanging out with a buddy. I struggled with writing a review and calling him out...because then he may be even harder to see! Sarah always takes care of me. I absolutely trust her with anything she wants to do to my hair. she is always in a great mood and I literally won't let anybody else cut or color my hair. I have high matinence blond hair and she always gets my color right. give this girl a raise. I went in today for a haircut from Cherish. she did an amazing job and I left her chair feeling beautiful and amazing. she was very kind and friendly as was everyone in the salon. She listened to what I wanted done to my hair and gave input so I can have the best haircut possible. She also took time to show and explain to me how to put beach curls in my hair. I had a bad experience previously with another stylist from a different salon so I was a little nervous but I was worried for nothing because I was in great experienced hands.
