I was really hoping I had found a great hair salon close to home, but left frustrated and disappointed. I had a consult with Gehlan prior to my appointment where I discussed I wanted highlights to compliment my natural haircolor and a cut. I booked my appointment the next week and arrived at 2:00 pm and left at 5:29 pm. At no time during my time in the chair did he discuss he was going off our prior discussion and doing creative coloring. When he began to blow dry my hair he turned the chair sideways so I couldn't see the cut or color in the mirror, generally in the past my stylists have had me face the mirror so I could see the color. When I asked him to turn my chair so I could see the color he obliged me and did that. When I said I wasn't sure about the color because the roots were dark he told me to sit down and be quiet - hmm, not a great response. When after 3.5 hours I left to pay the bill I was shocked to see, I was charged for long hair, my hair is at my shoulders, for highlights, for creative color and one additional color. The bill was broken out to $155 Long - Full highlight, 1 creative color $50, 1 women's cut $60, cleaning and disinfecting $7.95 and 1 Color $36.64 totaling $312.50. It's been 3 weeks and my hair looks like it needs to be highlighted again because the roots are so dark. I can't recommend Salon Heather or Gehlan and 3.5 hours is way too long in my opinion for the services I requested. read more

It becomes a FRIZZ-head when not properly cut and shaped. More I like my Red hair LONG. This was indeed a challenge for Me, the first meeting of a new stylist! Melanie is the most appeasing and soothing person, with a Gentle touch. Redheads are known for their sensitivity and RED Temper, contradictions! Melanie, when she washed my hair, her fingers touched my tender head with thorough "Merciful" fingers, then converged through my long FRIZZ hair. It has been over a decade of years since I could find an "adequate" hair stylist, more a knowledgeable Stylist who is not daunted by curly fizzy hair. Soothing and comforted.....what a great combination. MIRACLES do happen! More, I wanted to keep all that hair long as possible, HUGE CHALLENGE!! Melanie did not flinch instead - confidence exuded; she knows how to create miracles. Asked questions, mapped out her skills with her shampoos, conditioners and scissors. Melanie is soft spoken, likes to laugh, and when I sat in her chair, with my Service Dog whom Melanie was very wise and accommodating, bringing my Service Dog a beautiful soft blanket for her to lie on. What great treatment. Melanie washed and conditioned my hair and trimmed all the RED FRIZ away and still I have longish hair. I can't say enough about my experience. When entering the warm Hether's Salon, I was immediately greeted, sat in a comfy chair, allowed to be quiet, (this is so nice of them cuz of my Sweet beautiful Service Dog draws attention!) Hether's and Melanie are Keepers, they understand and perfect hair, they Listen to their customer needs. Lots of parking on the streets, and lots of stores and possibly some good eats around Arvada after some comfy treatment. Hether's is conveniently located on frontage street, when arriving you are in for a Treat!! Thank you Melanie!!! So many qualified stylist! I schedule with Ashley for hair cuts and Leni for my color. They are both so good at ALL aspects of their profession! I alternate simple because I get to visit them both! I went to Salon Heathers for the first time hoping to receive a superior experience and atmosphere, a professional and confident hair consultation and a great result. Unfortunately it ended up being little more than a very pricey "experiment" for me only reinforcing that paying more doesn't assure any of this. I had high hopes when I arrived. I showed the stylist photos that I felt represented the very similar style I already had and was clear that my hope was not to change things up as much as I hoped she had a technique that could simply improve on the way my long layers blended and lay. I also booked a partial highlight expressing I loved the color and tone of my current highlights and just needed a few added in. Well, the cut is just "ok". It looks more like a bob now so resigned myself it will grow. The worst part for me is I NEVER anticipated the stylist would use a high lift bleach and toner for the highlights. Guess I should have asked? This method has left my highlights with no interesting dimension and looking almost as if I put on a rinse. So disappointed. The stylist was very sweet but slower than I'm used to. Everyone was friendly enough. The salon itself is very busy with lots of chatter which appeals to some although not me personally. I was surprised that when I was processing that I had to point out that half of the heat diffuser was not working. For the premium price, I anticipated a different experience and result. read more

I've really wanted to love Salon Heathers. It's a beautiful salon in Olde town, and they sell top of the line products, which originally drew me to them. I've been in several times myself as well as having brought my son and daughter in. The service is hit or miss with most times being a miss. I've had an excellent color "toning" job, but I've also had a horrible haircut that was very uneven, on more than one occasion. I've went back because each time they messed up, the owner, Heather, makes it right. I went in for a simple updo last spring and it was a disaster that resulted in another stylist having to brush it out after the first botched it, try again, still it looked a mess. So I had them just leave it. I went home had to re do it myself and was late to my event. Heather did refund me to make it right but still- it was a simple curl/up do. I've taken my son in and again. Hit or miss. One hair cut is great another is an uneven mess that I had to pay another salon to fix. They did do a great moisture treatment for my daughter once. Unfortunately after this last experience with my sons hair I won't be back. Which makes me sad. I really wanted to love this salon but the inconsistency in skill/service is the only thing consistent here. read more

I was looking around for a hair salon to not only get a cut but to also get some coloring redone. The reviews for this place attracted me and I booked an appointment really easily. Came in 2 days ago and Cassie was my stylist. She's super friendly and just amazing, absolutely loved her work and getting to chat with her as well. She gave me a cut then and now I'm here again today for the coloring, since they had to allot 3 hours for me to get it done. Cassie is just awesome, definitely recommend her. As far as the salon itself, it's got a very cozy atmosphere. I love the interior decor, and the desk staff are friendly and greet you when you come in. I went to another salon for a toner and ended up with a red color that refused to die. After seriously debating a self application of a bleach bath while standing in the aisles of Sally's Hair Supply, I called Hether's for an emergency appointment with whoever would take me. They set me up with Leni for 5pm the following day, and she couldn't have been more marvelous. Even though I was on the books for a "root touch up", which would have been less invasive and less time consuming, she juggled two other clients to give me a color that was red-less, neutral, and soft. On top of that, she helped me relax after a long day and made me feel less guilty about treating my hair like a transitioning mood ring. While this has been my second time to the salon (first time with Victoria, who gifted me a delicious mushroom brown), I can truly and honestly say I wont trust another venue with my hair. Everyone who works here is kind and attentive, and they do the most incredible job of making you feel like you've been going there for years. Both times I've been in, I have had more than one stylist weighing in on the best way to achieve desired results, and the passion for their art is obvious. Knowledgable, enthusiastic, and lovely. For a cute, unassuming location in old town Arvada, this salon is top notch. Leni has colored and cut my hair for some time and she's a miracle worker! I always thought my hair was too thick and textured to do anything. Whatever magic Leni does, my hair now behaves and looks great every day with no styling for weeks after my cut! Leni also does beautiful color as she's a master of bayalage. She works with me everytime to make sure everything is exactly what i want. It's pretty rad to find a stylist who really cares about your hair as much as you do. Highly recommend! Here's why: -I was able to make and receive an appointment same-day for a hair cut & style. -The staff was very attentive and welcoming. -My hairdresser was super informative about the products and tools used at the salon. -I used a photo to show her what I was looking for, and she immediately walked through how she would achieve the look out loud. I work right up the street and decided to give these guys a shot at cutting my hair. It's a very cool, friendly place. It looks like they sell a lot of high end product too. I was mostly looking for something more convenient. I usually go to Sports Clips (I'm a guy) which can be hit or miss. Usually miss. I'm happy to say my first cut was excellent and I'll definitely be going back. Certainly a much better experience and it wasn't much more expensive than any of the walk-in assembly line places either. Called on Saturday morning 10 minutes after opening and was in immediately for highlights and cut. The place is beautiful and home like. The staff is beyond friendly. The girl that cut my hair did an amazing job and kept a conversation going with me through the morning. Her name was Kalli. Pricing was average to any other fab salon I've been to in the past. I just got my haircut and I am beyond pleased with how my hair turned out! My hairdresser, Kiku, was so knowledgeable on how to cut curly hair and she was very meticulous throughout the whole process. My hair was very damaged from not having a haircut in 12 months and even though she had her work cut out for her, she did an excellent job and was so warm and friendly. She recommended some hair products and taught me some styling techniques. I'm excited to try these techniques at home to achieve beautiful locks. I moved to the Arvada area nine months ago and have been putting of getting my hair cut only because I was scared of starting over at a new salon. I came here after another salon failed to give me what I asked for. I wanted to be much blonder and wanted lots of dimension throughout my hair. I showed Jill some pictures and she went with it and gave me exactly what I wanted, even better! She took her time to make sure everything was perfect and id be happy with it. Afterwards she walked me through some shampoo choices. Jill was also so great to talk with and made my experience amazing and just a lot of fun. She had so much positive energy to share. I used Yelp to locate a salon in the Denver Metro area to treat myself on a weekend trip recently. ( There is an awesome local salon I go to in my home town which I will review as well. Just wanted a new experience this time!) I chose Salon Hether's because of the location and also the glowing reviews on Yelp! Well, I am adding another one to the list. First of all, I called a mere 2 days out to book an appointment, and also had a narrow time frame to work with...and was doing a cut and color, so 2 hours of time was needed. They got me in...on a Saturday! Love that! The staff were very kind and accommodating while working out the time slot for me. They ONLY do hair. No nails, no nail chems. The salon space is located in historic Arvada, and they have done a great job of remodeling the historic building. The fixtures, lighting and colors of the salon interior were fun and classic, lots of attention to detail; you can tell a lot of thought went into the design. My fave was the hair color "bar" that dominates one side of the salon with all the bright packages of color neatly stacked out in plain sight. There were awesome vintage-esque light fixtures above lighting it all up. *TIP* Because the salon is in the historic downtown area, parking is premium. Get there a bit early to snag a parking space. Happy for local biz owners in Arvada that the streets are filled with cars! My stylist, Natalie, was sooo kind and talented and had great style of her own, too! In fact all the stylists had killer hairstyles and color and rocked great work looks. You know you are in a great salon when the staff is looking awesome! I have short hair, which Natalie LOOOOVES to work with. Her cut was impeccable! Natalie helped tailor my idea to my face structure and was a great communicator when she had an idea to toss out. The result is a great sassy feminine summer pixie. Salon Hether's has received awards for their color work (Goldwell Platinum salon) and I now know why. Natalie did a tint and partial highlight with great artistry. A few final comments...there were two couples getting his & hers styles and Hether's has a great feel for both guys and gals (and kiddos for that matter, their kids pricing for ages 12 and under are very affordable!) Another thing that really stood our for me was the owner, Hether, was there on a Saturday AND just a day or two after surgery. That is dedication to her business. When she wasn't with a client she strolled around the salon chatting with her staff and I know she was just checking out the scene. Diego is a wizard! I had been going to Aveda for blonde highlights. It was ok, but I needed help. The stylist always did the same old thing and my hair was boring, too blonde, and always falling in my face. Diego recommended high and low lights, took some much needed weight off in areas, and honestly, at 44 years old my hair has never looked better. Even after 3 months, I was still getting compliments.
