McKeever's Market & Eatery - Red velvet with strawberries

Though curiously, they do not have actual Sriracha sauce. They have some imitations, but not the real thing. All of the shelves are faced beautifully, and everything is well cared for. We have enjoyed many of the items we have purchased here and never had a problem. They have a good selection of wine, spirits, and beer, as well as groceries and other things. I would have to deduct a star because sometimes the workers are not very friendly, willing to help or, interested in improvements. One night we went there, and there was no usable toilet in the women's room, so my wife had to use the men's room. They were aware of it, and no one took any action.

I will have to make a greater effort to explore the rest of the store and eatery. The service was prompt and excellent. The environment is clean and bright. And the bakery offers these outstanding cakes. 5" cakes and 8" cakes. The 5" are perfect for a small party and delicious. When I need a cake, this is my go-to place. In addition, McKeever has Tippins Pies. They have petifores and maccrons. We picked up a croissant, a scone, and a cheese danish in addition to the double mudslide cake. This is my go-to upscale grocer. I see that they offer online ordering and pick up. I am going to have to try that.

It's been three consecutive times that I've came and the brew has been on the disappointing week side. If I got something else like a chai, it's been a little on the lackluster side too. They used to have some awesome baristas, and I haven't seen this one barista who made sure things ran smoothly. Yesterday, I noticed customer service really lacking. When I arrived at 11:30 AM the three baristas were all up front and had been attentive, but around 1 PM they had all drifted in back and none would pop their head out to see if anyone had come to the counter. I had stood at the counter for five minutes or so, and had thought I had made eye contact with one girl, but apparently she must have not seen me. I even said "hello" out loud, but nothing. A minute or two later a lady came in and was waiting behind me, and after a minute or two she asked if I had been waiting long. I told her the truth, and eventually a barista came out and asked me if I had been waiting long? I explained that I had, and had tried to catch someone's attention. I ordered an iced matcha and the lady behind me ordered some other drink. Guess who's came out first? I waited a few more minutes and noticed the another barista (a guy) had just started making an iced match, which apparently was my drink. Where were the girls? In the back, chatting away and giggling. I guess neither of them knew how to make an iced matcha.

Not so much. None of the pretty colors. No sparkle, no glam, not the same at all! My toddler and I split a strawberry cupcake. We inquired about their selection, wanting to bring home a dairy free treat for her brother, but the employee wasn't too confident about their ingredients. Also, while we were snacking, a lady walked in and asked the employee a flavor suggestion for a girl's birthday. The employee basically said "I don't know" and left it at that. Being the chatter box that I am, I spoke up, suggested the delightful strawberry cupcake, and the lady ordered quite a few. Spruce the place up and find some employees a bit more enthusiastic about the product, please!

All flavors including their specials were available as well as cake pops and truffles. She chose Dr Love, an incredible moist chocolate cupcake with fluffy strawberry frosting and topped with a strawberry and chocolate syrup. The frosting won with this one. She couldn't eat it all. Are the expensive, yep. Right under $5 for one but I bake at home and baking the cupcakes is tough enough to make them perfectly even. Icing cupcakes is an art. You are paying for the art of the cupcake. They also use quality ingredients (you can see their stock from the counter). I knocked a star off because although the man at the counter was kind he was aloof and kind of a bummer for a little girl on her birthday about to get a delicious cupcake. The actual eating area needs an update, there is nothing about it that makes you want to sit and enjoy your cupcake. This place for sure has potential to be five stars.
