Vegetarian trio: potatoes with sesame, raita, spinach paneer
Irene A.

Delicious meal, great staff, pleasant ambiance. We had the sea bass; the homemade fries were fantastic. The raita was thick and delicious. Spinach paneer and potatoes with sesame were as good as I've ever had.

Note: Yay! Yelp finally launches in London! I originally wrote this prior to Yelp's new UK…read moreconnection and had to list it with my SF reviews... So happy it can now be in its real home! It is still at the top of my list of favorite Indian restaurants!!! This is the best Indian restaurant in England, and my all-time favorite Indian place in the world. When you're in London, you'll definitely visit Harrod's or the Victoria & Albert Museum, and when you do, you'll be starving afterward. So head on over to Shaheen and let them totally spoil you for any other Indian food! My friend Damien recommended this place, and we visited on our first day in London, then re-visited several times during our first stay there. Now, every time I'm in London, I go, just to reconfirm the total deliciousness of their food. It truly is memorable. (Thanks for the recommendation, Damien!) The service is gracious. The interior is romantic and very Indian. Prices are fair. I always compare Indian food by how the Chicken Tikka Masala rates -- it seems like a good common denominator that is on almost every Indian menu. Shaheen's outshines every other restaurant I've sampled. You can't go wrong with their other menu items -- we've tried almost everything. Also, note that when you specify "Hot" that's what you'll get -- expect the steam to come out of your ears! P.S. Check the website for map and directions. The phone number is: +44 (0) 20 7581 5329. The full address is: 225 Brompton Road South Kensington London SW3 2EJ Hours are: Mon-Fri 12:00-15:00 and 18:00-23:30, Sat-Sun 12:00-23:30

We always knew London has an amazing Indian food scene and had to visit Dishoom at Kensington to…read moresee for ourselves! We got the following: - Dishoom Margarita - Baba's Sesame Espresso Martini - Dishoom House Chaat: this was an explosion of flavour! Had the sweetness of the pomegranate but also sour from the yogurt and spicy! Definitely recommend this one as a starter. 9/10 - Chicken Ruby: Dishoom's take on traditional butter chicken. Very deep flavour on this and less spicy than the other items we ordered, if you are sensitive to spice you will like this one. 8/10 - Garlic Naan: our choice of vehicle for the chicken ruby! 8/10 - Nalli Nihari Biryani: This was the star of the show and is the chef's Kensington special - only at this location! It is a lamb biryani served in a puff pastry. The waiter (kudos to Rosario) can cut it open for you and is served with sauce, onion, and yogurt on the side. Serves 2, so make sure you come hungry! 9/10 - Dishoom Chocolate Pudding: This is served with a Kashmiri chili ice cream. Super delicious and very unique. I might entertain a chili oil ice cream in the future because of this. 7/10 This was our first night in London and we were not disappointed! Worth the hype!

My husband and I visited Dishoom Kensington for breakfast a couple of weeks ago when we were…read morevisiting London for a few days. Dishoom pays homage to the food of Bombay, and I was thrilled that they serve such a large and extensive breakfast menu! The restaurant is huge and beautiful - with lots of art deco touches! The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The restaurant just had great vibes - even the smell of the place (incense mixing with their delicious food) was great. I had their Kejriwal (two fried eggs on chilli cheese toast - "a modern favourite of the Willingdon Club in Tardeo, reputedly named for the member who kept asking for the dish, since he was not allowed eggs at home"), which was delicious. My husband had their bacon & egg naan roll with a side of masala beans, which he loved (he's even been trying to recreate the beans at home since we got back from London). With a large menu of other options and tons of beverage options (from alcoholic brunch options to chai to iced coffee), they have everything you could want for a great breakfast. We had a great breakfast at this Kensington location of Dishoom. I'd happily return to one of their other locations and have any meal - breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
