Let me preface this review by saying " Everything you read here is absolutely true and was not taken from a sitcom episode". A friend and I both wanted to try this place so we met there last night 11/15/19. I arrived at 7:40 and told the hostess/bar tender that I needed a table for two. Within two minutes, my friend arrived. We were seated approximately 2 minutes after. Once seated, we waited for ten solid minutes before anyone poured a water or even asked for our drink order. Our waitress, an older, adorable woman took our drink orders. When she brought them back, we told her we both would like to start with Miso soup and once we got that we would place our meal order. After 30 minutes left unattended, and noticing the table of young men seated next to us, who had arrived after us, were already enjoying their food, I rose up from the table and went to the bar tender and requested that she send the manager to my table. Oddly enough our waitress reappears, showing zero signs of remorse and any recollection that we had been left unattended or that we had no soup. When I explained to her I was disappointed she simply said " I don't know why they didn't sit your soup out for me"! Again, no "apology or empathy". We proceeded to order our entrees and tried to be patient but as I looked around at other tables eating and enjoying their food, I only became hangrier. So we waited for another five to seven minutes and no soup, no waitress. My friend suggested that we get up and leave. So we got up and walked right out the front door. As I peaked back, our waitress, who was standing by the bar talking to some woman, I believe was completely unaware. Unfortunately this place did not live up to the 4.5 stars it's averaging. However, I did notice a lot of happy tables who had other wait staff. So I guess the joke was on us. We left, went to Mei Japanese restaurant literally right next door. The funniest part of this story is that once we arrived there, we were seated and greeted by our server immediately , and as this happened a lovely couple walked up to our table and said " WE LEFT TOO". Apparently we weren't the only folks who had the horrendous experience last night. Moral of this review. If you go, do not sit in the area served by the lady waitress who refused to serve us and the other couple. read more

So we panned a fun Christmas gathering for our Ohio family. Unfortunately we ran into complications and needed to dine out instead. The Pacific Kitchen was open on Christmas Day which saved us. We made a reservation for a party of 7 and they had it ready when we arrived. The staff was friendly and eager to wow us with their delicious cuisine. My husband ordered multiple appetizers for our table (shrimp lollipops, Korean wings, Crab Cannoli, Cantonese spring rolls, and beef skewers (sorry no photos because my family got to them before I did). I had Our Cousins Tao's chicken, my daughter's had the Pacific Pineapple Chicken and Pork Belly Bao...I did not move fast enough to photo everyone else's good food.The servers were efficient and personable. I currently reside in San Francisco, one of the culinary capitols in the US if not the world. We have a ton of great chefs that were brought in direct from Hong Kong and China. I am working on a project in Silverton and was craving some Asian food and found The P.K. I will admit, I came in with a snobby attitude, I am a West Coaster with a fancy pants palette, and assumed this place will be like a fancier Panda Express (which I do like on occasion). Ordered a steamed fish with black bean and I must say, I DEVOURED it!! I also had some fried rice with jalapenos and that floored me too. When I heard they did Dim Sum, I came back on Saturday...and once again, my numb nutz came in snobby. So it is different from West Coast Dim Sum, and depending on your preferences, you may like it better or worse. I liked it BETTER than what I get in SF. Authentic Dim Sum is usually made with a lot of lard, oil, and MSG. My barometers for Dim Sum are the classic Shu Mei dumplings and the Chicken Feet. BOTH were waaaaay less oily and there was not that Heavy MSG influence (IYKYK). I think he is catering to a more white population, thus the less oil. I will be coming back to Cincinnati and this will definitely be on my list of go tos (along with Gold Star). read more

Delicious dim sum!!!! We've been here countless times over the years - seen the chefs and even name change. We try to get there when they open on Sundays and are seated right away. Depending on if it's busy or not they have the traditional carts going around or you can order off of the menu. Either way, it's so good. I like to start with a pot of jasmine tea. I always get a couple sides of the hot chili oil to go with the soy sauce. My dad really likes the hot mustard. Most of the dumpling orders come with 3-4 items per order. There are also specials going around on trays that can differ depending on the day/weekend. There are so many good options. My absolute favorites are the shrimp dumplings, stuffed eggplant with shrimp, bbq pork buns (steamed), crispy shrimp roll, and sesame balls. The others I love are crispy shrimp ball, pan fried shrimp and chives dumpling, curry chicken turnover, stuffed peppers with shrimp, pork and/or shrimp siu mai, and pineapple custard bun. The dumplings with shrimp in them are overwhelmingly my favorites. The texture and flavor is great. The staff is extremely accommodating. You can ask almost anyone for something and they'll find out which cart it's on or go get it for you. read more

On a short trip to Cincinnati I had a chance to try this place out. What a hidden gem this is!!! There were only 2 of us, but we ordered a ton of food because I just had to try some of the dishes that stood out to me. We had 2 types of dumplings as appetizers, a wonton soup bowl, beef bibimbap and Singapore shrimp with coconut rice. All of them were incredible and reasonably priced. For years we came frequently to Pacific Kitchen for weekend dim sum. It has been awhile, since we have been getting dim sum closer to home. Today we returned and were very disappointed. The ambiance and service were excellent as always. There were several dishes we were missing that are unavailable at our current place. I love Pacific Kitchen in general- by far the best Dim Sum in Cincinnati. Michael and co have a gift. They get asian food but they put a first class modern twist/fusion to it. My most recent experience was on New Years Eve- this was a special menu and it did not disappoint! The dumplings were legit, shrimp lollipops, and I had no idea he did steaks like that. A porterhouse and ribeye! I've had the beignets before and they're great but this time he added a dragon fruit sorbet. as an Asian myself I love dragon fruit and this is legit. I had a great time here! I got dinner with my friend a couple days ago and really enjoyed the food here. They have a super diverse menu with cuisines from all types of Asian countries. My favorite item from what we ordered was the Szechuan prawns. They had a great grilled char on them and the sauce was delicious. The Mongolian beef was also good, but a little chewy and sweet for my personal taste. The staff were incredibly kind and the food was served pretty quickly. We stopped in on a Saturday, which is apparently when they have dim sum. I don't know anything about dim sum and how that works. I know we could have asked, but I wish that one of the staff had just taken the time to volunteer an explanation. I think it was pretty obvious how clueless we were. We just ordered off of the regular lunch menu and watched the hustle and bustle of the dim sum carts move around the restaurant. The vegetarian options are clearly labeled, although the appetizer we first ordered was unavailable so we ended up with the Veggie Gyoza ($6). These were tasty. For our entree, we had the Orange Glazed Veggie Faux Ribs ($9) - tasty and that glaze was amazing. Went for dinner tonight and the front door was locked at 7:30. Woman at front door ignored me at the front door so I phoned her. She proceeded to tell me that they close at 8:30 and the kitchen closes an hour before that. If you aren't going to honor your hours do yourself a favor and just don't open. Chicken feet, black bean pork spare ribs, shumai, ha gao, taro puff and beef flat noodles. Chicken feet - well braised texture wise, a little bland on flavor Pork spare ribs - overcooked, tough, bland Shumai - pork - chewy... Ha gao - dried, likely heated up from frozen Taro puff - flavor was good, batter is not like it was prior with the typical flakey outside. A group of five of us visited here at my sister's suggestion a few months ago. My wife and I are huge fans of asian food, and especially asian fusion, so we were delighted to have lunch here. We were seated promptly and were given a few minutes to look at the menu before our server came with water. Our server was a sweet older lady who wasn't 100% fluent in English, which made it difficult for my sister, who has some dietary restrictions, as she had to ask about the contents of each dish she was considering. Other than some brief miscommunication, the service was quite good, and we received our food shortly after that. I had ordered the My Cousin Tso's Chicken, as General Tso's is my favorite Chinese dish. I also got a side of veggie fried rice, deciding to go all out and see if this place could impress me. And impress it did. The panko-coated chicken was crunchy, juicy, and bursting with flavor. And the sauce blanketing it was sweet and spicy, making for an absolutely phenomenal dish that I couldn't help but finish off. The sauteed veggies were good too, though not as mind-blowing as the chicken. The fried rice, though, was also extremely tasty. Hot, well-cooked and flavorful rice with egg and veggies. It was a delicious meal, and my only regret is that I haven't been back to try something else off the extensive menu! Will definitely be visiting again soon. read more

Was looking for new place to have lunch, and this place seemed interesting. The location is kind of hidden, and the outside of the building doesn't really look like a restaurant, but once you walk in you realize this is going to be a great place. The decor is very nicely done, it's large enough for several large parties, and even the menus were very cool looking. The staff was very nice, as I waited for the rest of the party, the would walk them all the way to the table, very classy move. The food was fenomenal, I had the Korean Spicy Pork Belly which was amazing. It had nice heat, but not over powering spicy flavor, and very tender. The sides were really good and complimented the pork well. I did upgrade to the coconut rice, and it was well worth it. If you're looking for a great new place then I recommend this spot. read more

I encountered Pacific Kitchen at the March of Dimes fundraiser a week ago. Their chili garlic shrimp stole the day and won the event. I had to get more! My 19yo son (and bonafide foodie) headed to the restaurant to experience the real thing. We started with Indonesian wings and Korean seafood pancakes. I didn't care for the abrupt spice on the wings and my son suspects that they may have been previously frozen rather than fresh. The pancakes were tasty but very dense. The sauce served with it lacked flavor, so we wound up just sogging the pancakes. Then the shrimp. I took my first bite and realized that the butterflied shrimp were served with the shell on. I hadn't remembered that from the MoD event, but that was just one shrimp. Really have an issue with this... after picking out the shell from my mouth, you realize that peeling the shrimp now eliminates much of the spice. Honestly, serving this way seems just lazy. Peel the shrimp, would ya! Otherwise the dish was tasty. The Korean "army stew" was good. More my son's thing than mine. Lots of noodles, veggies and protein. After looking at the menu online, I was excited to check this place out. We started with the Yucca Fries. They were delightfully crispy. The cilantro was plentiful, and fresh. My mom ordered The Happy Buddha Delight. She's a strict vegetarian, and so many places don't have many options for her and/or, don't make good vegetarian dishes. She was beyond happy. I ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, which was interactive, fun, and delicious. For my entree, I ordered the Singapore Noodles. I hadn't tried Lap Chong (Chinese Sausage) before, but our server explained the taste to me perfectly, so I tried it. He said I could also pick another protein for my dish. I asked what he'd recommend, and he said the shrimp. He was so correct with the suggestion. My dish came out, and it looked beautiful, and tasted divine. We were checked on several times to see how we were doing. It turns out our server was the chef! If you can't find something delectable here, you aren't trying. Thank you for the experience. They also have a full bar for those shameless day drinkers (hint hint). Yes, you can get mimosas with dim sum or any alcohol of your choice. Weird, right? But that's what you can expect from an asian fusion restaurant. You get everything! The dim sum options here are legit and authentic. They make their dim sum from scratch, so they are always fresh. I love carbs, so I always over do it on the buns (but please get the custard roll, or whatever it's called). All their dim sum options are standard as you would expect from any dim sum restaurants. I definitely won't be back. The service and food left quite a bit to be desired. Though every restaurant we went to that night was crowded this one was not, which should have been my first clue. The staff was somewhat forgetful and less than attentive. The menu was a nightmare to navigate with all the different country labels and difficult lighting. We had to read it to my dad as he couldn't see it even with glasses. One of our appetizers had plastic in it. They had expensive mixed drinks with very little alcohol in them. Clustered among similar Thai, Indian, and Japanese restaurants, you will find this venue from the group that brought you Shanghai Mama's. Pacific Kitchen offers pan-Asian fare including cuisine from Cambodia, Mongolia, Vanuatu, and everywhere in between. On my previous excursion, I enjoyed a delicious Korean Bulgogi, flavored with sesame, ginger, garlic, and onions; and accompanied with Korean side dishes that included noodles, cucumbers, and, of course, kimchi.
