I had a Groupon which I used for my wife's birthday early this month. So, I jumped on opportunity to give this place a try. We had already came here in March for their March Chocolate B&B Tour. So, we were impressed with the wonderful landscaping as well as actor-themed rooms. I was lucky to book early enough for us to stay at the Eva Peron room (largest in the house) over this weekend. Check-in was recommended at 3PM with the other Groupon guests to have the house tour followed by wine and cheese. Our host helped us up to our room. We were surprised at the layout with 3 rooms inside. There was the bedroom in the main room. To the immediate right, there was a separate large bathroom (jetted hot tub and shower). The 2nd room to the right was another smaller bedroom/study room with 2 desks. One of the desks had an old typewriter and loved the antique style picked out by the owner's wife, Carlota. We used this room to do some work if we didn't want to bother each other in the wee hours in the night. The 3rd room was straight in the back along the window which was a sun room. It had a recliner chair with a small fold-able cot along with fridge and microwave. With temperatures in the 90's, we avoided this room until the sunset or early in the morning. Once it reached 3:30PM, all the guests arrived and we walked down to the lobby for tour of the library as well as the grounds. It ended in the basement floor where there is a bar setup with tables. We got to taste both red and white wines along with some cheese and crackers with the other couples. Afterwards, we were torn to use the coupons our host gave us to some downtown Stillwater restaurants. We decided to try out Lolo's which I remembered was mentioned to me when I booked the room. After returning back, we took a stroll in the Pine Point Park which is behind the Outing Lodge. We got a little lost but found our way back using the Gateway bike trail. We had a Redbox DVD so was able to enjoy that in our room since there was a DVD player with the TV. The next morning, we were awoken to a large rainstorm and later came down for breakfast at 9AM. Wow, the layout was truly unique with European style breakfast with croissants, puffy pastries, some fresh baguette slices with cold cuts and cheeses, cheese omelet, melon berry with yogurt as well as granola and fresh fruit cocktail. There are more but my photos will be better to show you what a thorough and thoughtful job for the true B&B experience. We later came back to our room and packed up to check out. Wow, my wife was very impressed so hope to come back again. Be sure to wear bug spray as well as long pants when you go exploring the trails in the backyard. We had rainy weather so the bugs were biting. Plus, the state park signs warned of ticks too. There is WiFi which is a huge plus since the last B&B that we stayed at didn't have it. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g43386-d123473-r381965640-Outing_Lodge_at_Pine_Point-Oak_Park_Heights_Minnesota.html#

Went for a one night stay. We came for a quick micro vacation over the weekend. We had delicious chicken pot pies, lovely -25F snow shoeing by moonlight walk and relaxing fire side book reading. The history, staff, and unique factor make this quirky charming B&B a must. It did the trick to help us recharge our batteries over a snowy MN weekend.

I love the size of the venue - big enough for a great party or reception but not so huge that you need hundreds of people to make it feel well attended. Beautiful bar (I forgot to take pictures, sorry). Amazing cocktails at a reasonable price. They had a great local band as well. I also did my 50th birthday party in this space a few years back. We also had a band and used the Loft's catering service. Great BBQ. Everyone had an amazing time. Highly recommended - just a beautiful spot.

The space can easily convert from wedding to reception in a few moments and with little disturbance to guests. Judd is an amazing photographer as well and was a true pro at capturing the night with near-instantaneous gratification. And while I was a guest (coordinator for my friend the bride) and not the actual customer per se, I felt the evening was a smashing success and the space is beautiful. More important than both the beautiful space and successful event however was the fact that staff really cared about the guests and their families and that, my friends, you can't put a price on.

I have not met someone who is more understanding, professional, diligent, and calming. We had a large wedding of over 300 people and they all fit wonderfully. We were able to utilize the gorgeous outdoor garden for our wedding ceremony as well as our social hour. I was worried when I looked at the outdoor space, that not all 300+ guests would fit, or that it would be crammed and uncomfortable. However, it exceeded our expectations! The flowers were beautiful, the white gazebo was so pretty against the dark green grass, and bright flowers. The outdoor area, was really beautiful and fit our summer garden themed wedding. We were able to have an outdoor bar in the garden for guests to use and mingle as they walked around and enjoyed the summer evening. With 300+ people, space was very important for us. We needed an space that would fit that many people, but also allow enough room for guests to move around. The last thing we wanted was for them to be crammed in and tripping over chairs to get a drink. The ballroom accommodated them beautifully. The dance floor is HUGEE!!! Something like 2,000 sq feet! But believe me, our guests used it! The dance floor was always filled with people young and old. It was nice to have enough room for everyone to dance around. No one stepping on others feet. Another important aspect to us, was the bars! Of course! We really did not want people to be waiting in long lines to get a beverage. Withrow has two bars, and both were fully staffed, and were able to serve our guests quickly and efficiently. Another great thing about Withrow is that it fits with almost every theme. We chose a summer-garden theme, with a flare. We did Blinged out vases, with LED lights inside, and hydrangeas. We had rose petal and diamond scatter, with black table clothes and white chair covers! It looked fabulous! I also saw pictures of other weddings with many different themes. One with a simple fall centerpiece, another glammed out. The Ballroom can adapt to any theme and blends in perfect to any decor. Overall, Withrow was the perfect venue for us, nothing too fancy or upitty, just a genuinely UNIQUE and historical venue. The best part is that ALL of our guests had a great time, and felt at home. I still don't think I have seen a wedding with more people on the dance floor with smiles on their faces. Any time multiple guests describe your wedding as "Magical" you know you did something right! Thanks Pam for all your help!

The scene is set under these HUGE trees - with cobble stone paths and flowers wherever you look. Think "Garden Chic". Also, hidden in the woods and garden are interesting treasure to find: porcelain angels, candle stands, old medal garden furniture, water fountains. There is a gazebo, a tree swing for two, lights in the trees and a "Mother In Law" house that has the bathroom, and a place for the bride to get ready. The bride walked down a cobble stone path where she said her "I Do's" to the backdrop of a prairie. Guests sat on metal chairs underneath a tent. Afterward we went down to the gazebo and had pork/beef sandwiches, salads and cupcakes - a perfect summer dinner. My friends themselves paid for everything, so they went with a weekday wedding (a little cheaper) - and this place was perfect for them. 1) Already decorated 2) You can bring in your own food 3) Magical 4) Cheap 5) Outside 6) Has it's own sound system (just bring CD's) They venue doesn't allow alcohol - but we went to a friends house afterward. I personally would rather to rent it out for a crazy Halloween party/rave where everyone is running around drunk and scared as hell... something with the vibe of Holloween Horror Nights. Considering the location, it is probably too cold for a party of the type. Having said that, I am from one of the hottest places in the US year round. Our winters are barely in the 60s. The hash browns were crispy and cooked well. The steak itself was good, a little dry personally. The crust could use more "crunch." Even when sauced, the underlying crust of country fried chicken should maintain some structural integrity rather than being soggy. Nevertheless, I was satisfied. Be sure to check this place out.
