We were looking for coffee in downtown Stillwater and stumbled across this place that had a Cold Brew Boba Latte! Couldn't pass up 2 of my favorite things, coffee and boba, all in one. Would definitely get it again! There were also a lot of waffle options. We tried the Maple Bacon and it was delicious. Very fun inside with lots of board games, a piano you can play, bean bag chairs, and lots of seating available. Friendly and fast service. Just about a block off the Main Street in downtown but ideal for grabbing a treat and walking the river or Main Street or playing games inside! read more

Awesome, nerdy cafe with bubble waffles, boba tea, coffee, etc. They hold regular card-game events, retro gaming competitions, and cult movie watch parties (with free popcorn!) The service, food, and atmosphere were all great. We went around 11 and it was pretty empty but I think it gets pretty busy during the evening and when they've got events going on. Definitely want to come back since there are few places where my Naruto merch is actively welcomed. Also check out their art for sale on the walls; it's pretty neat. read more

Yummmmm! I've been wanting to try out this place for sometime. For some reason I cannot find a good boba tea shop around the TC's. This place changed my mind. Yay! I ordered a very standard boba tea drink - milk tea with boba...it was just as delicious as the ones I used to get in Colorado (when I lived there) - random I know - I've tried a lot of boba tea places here in the twin cities and most weren't very good. The staff were super friendly and helpful going through the most popular options and helping me narrow it down my order to my ol' faithful. I look forward to coming back and trying another flavor of boba tea. There isn't free parking right around this very popular part of downtown Stillwater so I paid to park to order my drink. That's the only downfall if you can't find parking on Main Street. Lots of great places to sit and enjoy your drinks and they even sell waffles! they also sell non boba drinks too. read more

Cool place. Games, the cozy couches and bean bags, the relaxed vibe. Very nice place to chill. I was there for a few hours doing some work on my laptop. The strawberry boba tea is nice, that's my goto. I wish there were more outlets by the tables, hence not 5 stars. I also wish there were more food options. read more

Super cool space with gaming nostalgia to it! There's quite a few rooms with bean bags and also a nice patio. The staff were super kind and helpful. I got the tiger ube and it was pretty good overall, the boba could be a bit better, a few pieces could be a bit softer. My partner got the cold brew boba latte and said that his boba pearls were better and soft and the drink could be a bit sweeter, but overall good. Definitely Instagram worthy! read more

I love this place with every ounce of my being. Matt is a wonderful person and cares about his customers. They used to have Bubble waffles which were marvelous. Now they have a nice selection of bakery goods! Their boba is arguably the best in Stillwater. Great place to sit down with friends and have a chat with some tea, and or play board games! read more

Super casual place with so much seating and a huge selection on the menu! We saw a sign pointing towards Matt's basement that advertised coffee and hot chocolate. We were walking around Stillwater at 6pm so a lot of the other coffee shops were already closed. It was pretty quiet and we ordered quickly. They mentioned opening a couple months ago and plan to host several events that they post about on their instagram. I got a hot chocolate and we all shared their chili. Both were great! We stayed for a bit and played uno, but they have several other games you can use during your time there. The seating was so comfy and really felt like a "basement" hangout spot. I'm glad we ran into Matt's Basement and hope to come back soon! read more

What an incredible addition to downtown Stillwater! I stopped in for dessert after my birthday dinner and I was not disappointed. The owner, Matt, is so nice and helpful, and the chef, Ruby, is exceptional. We got three waffles - two Strawberries and Cream and one Traditional Boba Waffle - and two Strawberry Fields bobas. I can't even begin to describe how amazing it all was. The boba waffle was primarily mine, and the boba was fresh and flavorful, the waffle somehow crisp and pillowy, and the whipped cream and drizzle the perfect topping for it all. I also snuck a bite of the strawberry waffle, and wow, what a flavor explosion! The strawberry syrup was so delicious, and it had a drizzle of what looked like sweetened condensed milk. My mouth is watering just writing about it. The boba tea was so dang good. I honestly think this is the best boba I've had, and I've been to a lot of places. The seating is plentiful and varied. The beanbags are so soft! And, though we didn't have time to try it, the gaming is such a nice touch. I can't wait to come back to try my hand at N64 Duck Hunt. Prices are great. Atmosphere is great. Location is great. This is such a gem. Thanks to Matt for opening what is my new favorite place! read more

Matt's Basement is a nice addition to Stillwater! I'm so happy that there's boba tea in the area now. The drinks are delicious and the addition of real fruit in the drinks make them special. The shop is cute with plenty to places to hang out and chill. There are ample spots to get cozy and stay a while. Ample seating on the patio as well. Service is amazing, answered all of my questions. What a different type of business. Their boba is the best and quite a variety of flavors. The bubble waffles are amazing..sweet or savory. The also have locally made root beer and ice cream. Drinks are good, only if they have it in stock. I feel like they never have things in stock and when I try something new that I think i might like then they don't have that in stock. The owner also seems stuck up and just overall unpleasant. On multiple occasions I've witnessed this when coming in for a drink. read more

Every time I come up to stillwater with my dad, I always want to pop by Matt's Basement. Sure, the only thing I want to get is the original bubble tea, but it is simply the best edible thing I have ever layed my taste buds on. Sweet, creamy tea with those little black pearls-- just thinking about it makes me salivate. And I can watch my favorite show - Rick and Morty - and play classic arcade games, all for free! Oh, sure, they have a Nintendo 64, if that's your thing. But I usually don't bother. One thing they could improve on is introducing lunch and dinner, but that's not really what the place is for. It's for delectable delicacies such as boba and waffles (you can even make your own custom waffles with any toppings you want!). I extremely suggest you check the place out.
