Ope! Can you have a fun adventure exploring a different city day without going far? You betcha!…read more Embracing my Swedish/ Norwegian side checking out the lovely town ofLindström today. Well known as the town with the teapot water tower just north of Forest Lake. Along with a tasty lunch in Chisago. Places and things we checked out included lots of cute local shops and of course some sweet treats! @thelindstrombakery was worth the trip on its own We tried a variety of things and got some take home goodies. Swedish Almond Cookies (so. darn. good. Had to get some for later) ALL of their donuts were so fresh and light. Highly recommend getting yourself here for treats. Each item we tried was accompanied by slow chewing, serious glances and closed eyes of bliss. Uffdah what a fun day! Hoping everyone can find some Hygge in your days. Hygge (pronounced "hoo-gah") is a Danish cultural concept focusing on comfort, togetherness, and cozy contentment. Key principles include cultivating warmth, enjoying simple pleasures, equality, and mindfulness. It helps reduce stress, improves well-being, and fosters social connection by embracing a slower, more intentional, and cozy lifestyle.

Aw guys I hate to down my previous rating. Nice remodeling job and for fixing the dangerous floor…read morewith the step down on entrance. Simple scheme with tables and a smaller store as the rest of the space is used for another shop. Problem: There is very little selection. The bakery used to be lined with shelves, now it is all in the front closed off as the employees have to reach take it out. No rolls or buns, just basic breads and nothing all that creative. There are bags of cookies to go and they have coffee beans with no price marked. Others have mentioned donuts, but I didn't see any. The previous owners had loads of donuts and the signs still says "Scandinavian Donuts". The changes haven't seem to affect business as it was bustling on a Saturday morning. I never saw that many people in the store in years past.

Big Apple Bagels

Big Apple Bagels

I was excited to find a bagel shop that reminded me of living on the East Coast back in New Jersey…read more My experience at Big Apple Bagel was not of any bagel shop I remember from back home. I ordered a half dozen bagels, a 8 oz cream cheese and a side of cream cheese for curbside pickup. After my order was brought to my car, I checked it to make sure everything was correct. The side of cream cheese was in a container that you would normally get in a togo order for a side sauce. It may hold an ounce of cream cheese. Mind you, it was $2.40 where the 8 oz. was $6.00. I went in to talk to the person at the counter and they told me that the side of cream cheese comes in that small container. I asked to return it and then I would just buy the larger 8 oz. container instead. They said that was not allowed because it already left the store. Being in customer service, it would have made sense to just give me the credit for the small side of cream cheese to purchase the $6.00 8 oz. container. If anyone wants good bagels and cream cheese, go downtown to Rise Bagels. That is where I would typically go for bagels but I thought I would try Big Apple Bagels due to it being closer. This was my first and last time ever trying Big Apple Bagels and I will keep going to Rise Bagels instead. Mind you, the cream cheese was not even good. We got the very strawberry and it didn't have a lot of strawberry flavor. Also the garden veggie tasted not as good as the store bought Philadelphia version.

The bagel itself was bland and I was a little disappointed they use Kraft cheese instead of real cheese Wah Wah. The chai latte though! Whatever magic they're doing for that was top notch delicious.

In many ways, it's like a trip back to the 80s and 90s... it's so comfy and cozy. They can't serve pizza in the original black pans-too easy to get burned on those. But there's one of the vintage light fixtures in the entry. The only things missing are the jukebox, the buffet and the sit-down Ms Pac Man machine. What's not missing: great service and great food. The pizzas are incredible! It's amazing what a difference it makes eating in. Not that PH delivery isn't good-it's very good-but a fresh pie coming straight to the table-yummo!!! We ordered two large pizzas and a personal pan for my niece (which was free for kids, btw) plus breadsticks. Everything was cooked to perfection and piping hot. It was the perfect capper to a fun, pre-Christmas day with family... and Ron, our server-was awesome. He took such good care of us and was so friendly and nice. The restaurant is clean, right there on the main drag, has lots of parking and some cute holiday decor. All this-served with a side of glorious nostalgia... yes, please! We'll make this a family tradition, whenever we're all in town-and my local fam plan to put it up high in their rotation. Thanks, PH--"no one out-pizzas the Hut," indeed!

When I asked how long the second pizza would take, the woman said abruptly "8 minutes now step away from the counter and sit down." I said "really? I asked a simple question." She comes around to me and yells I'm refunding your pizza now get out! I said why? She says "Get out and don't ever come back." Never got a refund either...Nobody deserves that awful treatment! Please don't bother going there. Go somewhere where you're treated with respect
