Phenominal Place! This is one of those rare moments when a five star rating is not enough. It would rate it so much higher than many of my other five stars because of the unbelieable hosts, delicious breakfast, clean rooms, super comfortable bedding, and breathtaking rooms. Unbelievable! This place is well worth the price. The private bathrooms are spectacular. Between the eucalyptus steam shower with a myriad of water features and the jacuzzi type soaking tub, we could barely tear ourselves away from our personal spa time to go to dinner. We love the fact they have no tv's in the rooms but an awesome speaker/disc system for music of your choice and a refrigerator full of drinks. They had snacks available upon our check in and I would highly recommend the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for an additional $5 - YUM! The best part of our moring was the delicious breakfast served right to your room. OH My! We loved our breakfast (see picture) and the homemade scones were SO good. We came here to celebrate our 29th Anniversary in February and we weill be back for a summer visit and of course, many more anniversaries. This place made our anniversary special. I only need to say one five star thing. THEY SERVE ICE CREAM with breakfast! Well, we've only stayed in five or six bed and breakfasts (mostly in Maine or New Hampshire) but this is (without a doubt) our favorite. The Mansion is beautiful, a real mix of old and new.. so you get history.. but still really nice bathrooms and big bedrooms It's about three blocks further than the other highly rated one in town and well worth the extra travel. We were greeted by our gracious hosts, Tom and Sandy. We made it just in time for the afternoon snack.. you know.. wine, cheese etc... with time to enjoy the large veranda. In fact, we were there for three nights and made extensive use of the veranda.. at breakfast, in the afternoon and in the evening. Tom and Sandy are good about seating you with people that are a good match.. or if you prefer.. alone.. there is plenty of space. You can even have food delivered to your room. We played croquet on the grounds (yes, they have ample parking, gorgeous landscaping, a fountain and a place to play croquet) it was fun, but when my wife kept beating me I decided it was time to try something else. (I grew up in the city, what do I know about croquet?) Back to the breakfast thing.. one day the whole area suffered a power outage so they fired up the grill and cooked us our breakfast. No big deal, it was excellent. We stayed in the Joseph room, but were able to view all except one and they were all very nice. We had a King sized bed (super comfortable) and an oversized bathroom.. a big tub with jets and a shower that I needed the instructions (laminated) to use.. so many sprayers. As we spoke with the other guests.. we were all in agreement that this is a really remarkable Bed and Breakfast. Tom and Sandy's labor of love really shines. A great value. read more

We just spent 3 nights here and it was amazing. We opted for the Butler's cottage. You get a private entrance and breakfast is brought to your room. It is a nice alternative to making small talk at the breakfast table when you are waiting for an ounce of caffeine to kick in. For the food, they know what they are doing. Each breakfast was a treat and you felt sad when it ended. I am not a big breakfast person but was impressed. They also offer wine, lemonade and fresh bread with a variety of spreads in the late afternoon. My only complaint is there is no tv in the room. But that seems trivial and minor to the rest of experience. read more

This is the best Bed and Breakfast we have been to! We chose Stillwater as a restful place to celebrate our anniversary as well as the upcoming birth of our second child in February. We couldn't have been more delighted in the quiet, restful, beautiful attention to detail at Sauntry Mansion. A welcoming spread of wine and cheese awaited us at check-in. The Sauntry Mansion is perfectly placed just 2 mins away from downtown dining, and just far enough away to enjoy the beauty and quiet of Stillwater. We stayed in the La Fuegy Room, which was perfect for our little retreat. Between the Swedish eucalyptus steam shower (with four additional therapeutic water features) and the palatial soaking tub, we could barely tear ourselves away from our personal spa to go to dinner. Breakfast was delicious and decadent the next morning- served to our room. A recommendation would be to skip dessert the previous night. The owners were very attentive, informative and kind. Thank you so much Tom and Sandy for the restful and refreshing getaway! P.S. It is lovely not having (or hearing) TV's going. There is a TV in the game room, if needed, but not having them in the individual rooms kept the space peaceful. This place was super phenomenal. From the moment we walked in Tom and Sandy were so friendly and sweet. The grounds were so well kept and clean. It was absolutely stunning. The house was so beautiful. We stayed in the Madame Lafugey room. It was so clean, spacious and the bathroom was breathtaking. They had snacks set out upon our arrival. It was really delicious. The breakfast was so good! Sandy is a great cook. I'm a super picky eater and she accommodated my egg white only, low crab, health nut preferences. Both days she went above and beyond to deliver our breakfast bright and early. On the second and final day she even labeled my breakfast with my name! Her scones were delicious! Before becoming residents of Stillwater, my husband and I spent Valentine's night here at the William Sauntry Mansion. It was the perfect Valentines, they really pull out all the stops for that holiday weekend! Really worth the drive and price. As we checked into our room, the Madam La Fuegy Suite, there was a dozen roses and champagne waiting for us (Valentines special I think, could've been an 'extra' though). The room features a steam shower and jet tub. Nothing more relaxing than being able to melt your cares away in a steamy shower or deep jet tub. The mansion is really setup for a romantic getaway. What it did not feature was a TV but it did have Wi-Fi. Now I know the time is meant to be spent together, had we been staying more than one night I think this could have been a problem. Once in awhile, since we don't watch that much TV at home, we just want to veg-out and watch some HGTV. Like I said, it was one night so not a big deal. The hosts were gracious, attentive, but not overly in your business, if you will. They didn't 'check in on you' or really bother us at all. They hosted a cocktail hour which was outstanding. The cheese! The bread! The wine! Every corner we turned of our stay was amazing. Now that I live in Stillwater, I feel silly wanting to stay here again, haha, I wish I could though! I would recommend this to anyone wanting a weekend away in historic Stillwater. read more

I recently had the opportunity to spend a few days at the William Sauntry Mansion and it was amazing to the least. It is easily one of the best bed and breakfast experiences I've had the pleasure of having. The owners (Tom and Sandy) were very friendly and extremely helpful with dinner and activity suggestions. The Mansion itself is decorated spectacularly, the back-garden is beautiful, and the deck is a great place to spend an hour or so in the afternoon. We stayed in the "Madam La Fuegy" suite and it was everything advertised and more. The room was incredible. The bathroom was amazing and has me contemplating redoing my own to have a tub (or shower for that matter) like the one provided. I could have spent the whole summer there, so very relaxing. The bed was extremely comfortable, linens amazing, the decor was very pleasing and we had an extremely romantic few days because of it, I cant recommend the room enough. The breakfast was light, fresh, and perfect, delivered to the room at a great time. The cheese, wine, beer, social they put on every late afternoon is fantastic. You can meet and chat with other guests or just enjoy a nice snack and a beer (or glass of wine) out on the deck enjoying Stillwater. I am contemplating returning in the winter to enjoy the fireplace and have a walk around Stillwater with snow on the ground and christmas lights everywhere. I travel for a living and have spent well over 1000 nights in hotels.....some very high end. None of these compare to the William Sauntry Mansion Bed and Breakfast. The property has been beautifully restored and offers a journey back in time. The common rooms are warm, comfortable and inviting, each telling its own story. We stayed in the "Ellen" bedroom which mixed old world with new, offering a sunken jacuzzi tub and fireplace in the bedroom and spacious walk in shower. Each evening you are treated to a wonderful wine and cheese reception. Breakfast is offered in your room or in the common dining area and was absolutely fresh, from scratch and delicious. Easily the best bed and breakfast I've ever been to. The decor is charming yet comfortable, and the rooms are gorgeous. The mansion grounds sit atop a hill so that even though it's in a residential neighborhood the garden feels like a peaceful and private place to enjoy a cup of coffee. We arrived and were welcomed with a table of wine, cheese, and beer. Our room was stylish and relaxing. We were served breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning, and both were astoundingly good. read more

This is hands down the best B&B I've been to. My wife and I stayed one night in the Joseph room. Room was spotless, bathroom bordered on extravagant. Jacuzzi tub, and a shower with 4 different settings (regular shower, rainforest, waterfall, and full body spray jets). Oh - and also a eucalyptus steam bath in the shower as well! Amazingly relaxing. On the evening of check-in we were treated to a course of delicious hors d'oeuvres, along with wine, beer, and other non-alcoholic beverages. We took these in while sitting on the veranda, enjoying the gorgeous surroundings. The breakfast we were served was of the highest quality, with just the right portions. Egg soufflé, sausage, fresh baked scones, fresh fruit (berries and bananas), OJ and coffee, plus homemade vanilla ice cream with blueberries for dessert. Every piece of fruit on our plates was perfect. Can't say enough about how great this place is. Also - every need was immediately attended to by Tom and Sandy, our very gracious hosts. My husband and I stayed here and had the best time ever. The innkeepers are friendly and professional. This bed and breakfast is stunning. We stayed in the William; however, all of the rooms are fabulous. The William has a steam shower and fireplace. The soaps are even good quality. A delicious breakfast and coffee are delivered to your room and in the evening there are appetizers along with beer and wine. We plan to return whenever we need a getaway. We stayed here for the fourth and had a wonderful time! Upon arriving we were offered an array of cheese and wine and given a short tour around the mansion. After that Tom let us wonder around the place at our leisure but was easily accessible when needed and gave us some great tips for things around the area. We too opted for the Butlers cottage and were thoroughly impressed with the room. The room has an amazing whirlpool, a fireplace/ipod stereo system, and breakfast is dropped off outside your door in the morning. If you're looking for a nice quiet, secluded, romantic bed & breakfast I'd highly recommend this location. read more

It was a wonderful anniversary stay at the Inn. The house & grounds are very beautiful and quiet. The rooms are private and well appointed. We stayed in the Servants quarters and it was very nice. The bathtub does only have a sitting shower, but was not a big deal for us. Would definitely stay again. read more

My husband and I were lucky enough to come across the William Sauntry Mansion while looking for a place to stay for a long weekend and we are very happy that we did! We have stay a lot of nice places, but this is by far one of our favorites and we will definitely be back! The owners, Tom and Sandy, were so nice and helpful with any questions and recommendations with places to go! The mansion and rooms are absolutely beautiful and meticulously decorated. We stayed in the Madam La Fuegy room and it was lovely! The room was more than we could have expected! Especially the steam shower! Loved it! That doesn't even include the food! Each morning we had breakfast delivered to our room and it was delicious! Everything is made by Tome and Sandy and it was some of the best food we've had in a while, it can rival some of the best restaurants. Not only did we get breakfast, but they also brought us homemade chocolate chip cookies and ice cream! How can you go wrong!?!? Plus, each evening they served wine, beer, and an assortment of appetizers (cheese, meat, and other snacks). The Sauntry Mansion is one of the most enjoyable and truly relaxing getaways that we've been to. The owners have done a fantastic job restoring the original woodwork and furnishings (from the late 19th century) and even provide a room-by-room history sheet for a self-guided tour of the mansion. A wine, beer and cheese reception greets you at check-in. A 5-Star breakfast is served either in-room or on a gorgeous wrap-around porch. Everything is carefully planned for your relaxing comfort! You are totally in control of how gregarious or how private you want to be. We stayed in the "William" room ... spacious, comfortable and includes every imaginable convenience that you could want. Topping our list, power strips that are provided for all those chargers we travel with nowadays, an always-available Keurig dispenser, and a fridge stocked with bottled water and pop. Everything was immaculately clean, too. Also, while you are in Stillwater, take the guided Stillwater Trolley historical tour based next to The Dock Cafe for some interesting views of the city. We highly recommend the Sauntry and will definitely be coming back! read more

Our first ever stay at a B&B and we loved it! The atmosphere was so historic and romantic. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The Swedish spa shower was so invigorating. The spa tub, relaxing. The welcome snacks and drinks were very nice. Just what we needed after a 2 hour drive. I have to say that the breakfast brought to our room put it over the top for me! The food was amazing and I loved that it was served on beautiful china. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful area, I think this is the place! read more
