Just went to an event there this past Friday night. They were doing a promotion/reopening after some really great remodeling. I love the size of the venue - big enough for a great party or reception but not so huge that you need hundreds of people to make it feel well attended. Beautiful bar (I forgot to take pictures, sorry). Amazing cocktails at a reasonable price. They had a great local band as well. I also did my 50th birthday party in this space a few years back. We also had a band and used the Loft's catering service. Great BBQ. Everyone had an amazing time. Highly recommended - just a beautiful spot. read more

Proprietor Judd and team (event organizer, Jen) have meticulously created an amazing space for events and will work tirelessly to make sure your event is exactly as you envisioned it in all of your Pinterest frenzy. The space can easily convert from wedding to reception in a few moments and with little disturbance to guests. Judd is an amazing photographer as well and was a true pro at capturing the night with near-instantaneous gratification. And while I was a guest (coordinator for my friend the bride) and not the actual customer per se, I felt the evening was a smashing success and the space is beautiful. More important than both the beautiful space and successful event however was the fact that staff really cared about the guests and their families and that, my friends, you can't put a price on. read more

We hated the idea of having our event in a room that could also be used for a business conference. The only thing that I did not like was a Coca-Cola sign. It didn't go with our event, so we created a giant mural to cover it. The Loft made it easy to cover. _Price, Event Customization, and All-Inclusive Setup When we booked in 2014, the price was about half of what it currently is. We paid around $3000 to The Loft for our event. Their current rate for what we got is $5200. Still reasonable for what's included. _Gorgeous Bride Room Clearly a photographer designed it with all the little nooks, backgrounds, and natural lighting. The only thing I'd wished that they had in the bride room is storage bins of some sort. When our photographers showed up we had stuff everywhere, and there wasn't a place to stash it. Also, they have a padlock on the door with a secret code so only certain people can be in the room. This was great for some quiet time and private getting-ready time. _Photobooth + prints The photobooth was not a thing we would have paid extra for, but we were happy that it was included. It was a huge hit! They had a printer next to it that made two copies of your strip -- one to keep and one to give to us. The Loft also gave us all the original photos, and photos in strip form. _Helpful Staff The best part about The Loft at Studio J is their helpful staff. I was worried because the staff changed between when we booked (2014) and our event (2016) Although the staff changed, the helpfulness didn't.Each event planner was an expert at helping us plan our event -- asking appropriate questions at the right time in the planning phase. And the day of they were helpful with last-minute things. I would do our reception at The Loft 100x over. It was perfect! read more

When we signed the contract with Loft at Studio J, we could not have been happier. We were so excited to work with them, I voted for them on Wedding Wire and the Knot as an outstanding venue. Then COVID happened.. We reached out to them at 3.5 months before our wedding. The wedding organizer/director (Emily Tweed) told us we would have to wait until 6 weeks prior to our wedding to make the decision to postpone. At that point it was May we still didn't know what the future would hold. We decided to wait it out and reach our guests about the situation. At less than four weeks prior to the wedding, we hadn't heard from the Loft at Studio J management about planning the wedding details. At this time COVID cases were rising and we did could not figure out a way to stagger the guests in accordance with the CDC guidelines. We did not want to be responsible for anyone's ill health during the COVID pandemic. We reached out to Emily and the Loft at Studio J management team to discuss the situation and to get our earnest money back. (Note: There is a force majeure clause listed in our contract.) The management team (Emily's brother, Judd Sather) would not return any of our $3000, not even a portion of it. $3000 for a tour and a couple emails is quite a fee. It's especially hurtful when you are trying to be responsible and the owner is posting about the financial status of his businesses during COVID on their social media writing, "I feel like I'm retired- golfing, no financial stress.. yet" (from Judd Sather Photography Blog, May 6, 2020.) We still were married on the original date however, out of abundance of caution for our loved one's health and safety, we had an intimate church ceremony with online video streaming for our family and friends (with no reception at the Loft at Studio J.) read more

Super disappointed! Not treated fairly! Be aware of all the hidden fees. After looking at a number of wedding venues, we ended up selecting The Loft at Studio J. We liked the industrial feel and signed a contract in Sept, for a wedding the following October. We were not told about the non-refundable deposit until after signing the contract...and the deposit was significant. We looked back at the packet, and did find it written at the bottom of a page of a 10 or so page packet of information. It would have been nice if they would just be upfront an forthcoming. That was the first of many misleading actions and unfair things we experienced. Then came the hidden fees. If you do not go with one of the Lofts' preferred caterers they charge you $1000 to bring another vendor in. But Green Mill Catering (a preferred caterer) charged us a venue fee. We were paying for the venue, paying for the caterer and still was charge an additional venue fee (7%). If we wanted another bartender at The Loft, they were going to charge $250 an hour. Our simply wedding was becoming very expensive due to the hidden costs. We ended up cancelling our contract at the beginning of January and then COVID happened. We asked repeatedly over the next 9 months if they could work us with and provide either a refund, partial refund or allow us to reschedule. The Loft at Studio J did NOTHING to help! They stood by their contract, and did not work with us in any manner....well, they offered to let us reschedule within 6 months but only on a Sunday. Not how we expected to be treated. Clearly the Loft at Studio J is only about the dollars and not really honestly interested in helping people during one of their most important days of their lives. As the world was going through a pandemic, The Loft felt it was best to enforce their contact. As we continued to ask for them to be reasonable, Emily Tweed did not picked up the phone once, to call us to work something out. Her only communication was over email. The caterer, DJ and photographer all provided some type of refund due to the circumstances. I would strongly caution anyone from using the Loft at Studio J for a wedding, party of business event. read more

I got married at The Loft at Studio J on July 19, 2015. Not only was that a perfect day but it was also the most perfect venue. Almost every single guest commented on what a beautiful, unique place it was. From the beginning, Judd Sather and the entire staff were an absolute joy to work with. My friend was having her reception at the loft. Turned out to be the biggest mistake ever. They promised everything would be done and ready for her big day. Not so, 24 hour before the event she got a phone call that the hall wasn't ready and didn't pass all there inspection. The owner wasn't even around to deal with the situation. Bad business. This is a piggy back off of Jessica B.'s review. . . I am the bride who was slated to have her reception at the The Loft at Studio J. My mother in law found this beautiful space on-line and set up an appointment to take a look at it. Both myself and husband loved it from the start-big, open space to accommodate quite a few guests with renovations on the way. Personally, I would have been okay having the reception with the way it was when we initially checked it out. We were assured several times that EVERYTHING would be in place by the day of the reception. Invitations were mailed out, caterer set up with food ordered and supplies purchased for our event. All was going smoothly. We received a call that we needed to have a bartender (which we had been told we wouldn't). Minor hiccup and not a big deal, so we obtained bartending services but could purchase our own alcohol. The day after we had purchased our alcohol/beer, loaded it up and unloaded it, my husband received another call that they were unable to obtain the BYOB license which was required to have a regular bartending service at the event. So, the next day we loaded all the alcohol/beer back up and luckily the store we had purchased it from graciously returned it all for us, thank goodness! The Loft at Studio J offered to pay the difference for the caterer providing the bartending services from what we had originally agreed to pay, which we were thankful for. The Sunday before our reception, we took a "tour" of the Loft at Studio J to see how things had turned out. The bathrooms were yet to be completed among other things. We were assured that everything not completed was all cosmetic and would be done by Saturday. There had been an event scheduled for the day before as well, which we were told had been canceled. But, we believed in the words that we were hearing and everything would go off without a hitch. We were getting more and more excited as the day got closer. The day prior to our reception, we spent the day relaxing and getting last minute little things ready. About 24 hours hours before our event was to start, my husband called to inform me that he received a call that we were now unable to have our reception the next day!!!! I thought he was joking, this couldn't be possible. Indeed it was. I was in a little bit of shock. My husband, mother in law, sister in law and myself met with the event organizer in the area we were supposed to have our reception. We were all in shock! There were still things that were not completed that we had been reassured would be completed. We were informed that a fire inspection of sorts was not passed so there couldn't be an event held in the area. We were told we could call them if we wanted. What was the point of calling someone to verify? We had less than 24 hours to figure out where to have a reception! The event coordinator had been kind enough to call/search for another venue for us and had found one. Only problem was, it cost quite a bit more than what we had agreed on with The Loft at Studio J, along with the fact we had to inform and reroute about 130 guests to a new location-with less than 24 hours to go! The event coordinator offered to basically pay the difference in what we had originally planned on spending (as this venue required a much higher minimum to hold an event at their facility)-which was an immense help for this inconvenience. We had ALOT of work to be done at 6:00 in the evening to make this all work. We had to cancel our caterer and choose different food, make several calls to family and friends who planned on attending, and pay an additional $930 to the new venue. Luckily, we have a great network of family and friends who helped us with this process. After all was said and done, we had a wonderful reception with good food and fantastic service! Thank you to Rafters, especially Dawn and staff, for making this work on the spur of a moment! And a thank you to The Loft at Studio J for doing what you did to make this work for us. I sincerely hope your future customers are happy with your service. I truly wish I was writing this review to say that we had a most enjoyable time having our reception with you. When the day is done and over, it is what it is. Sadly though, shame on us for believing what we were told several times and not realizing the signs that things wouldn't be turning out the way we had hoped. I know that "things happen" - this was not the end of the world by any means, but natural disasters happen-not last minute canceling of a couple's important day to be with family and friends to celebrate because you didn't have your ducks in a row. I was recently married at The Loft at Studio J on Friday, October 2nd, 2015. The day was perfect in every way. My husband and I are so happy we chose The Loft. From the moment we first walked up the beautiful staircase and stepped onto the 2nd floor, my breath was taken away. It was beautiful! From the rustic charm, to spacious event area, the photo booth, the awesome bar with all the history displayed in it, the cool bathrooms, and the awesome bride's room. I knew I had to book The Loft for my wedding. It was perfect in every way and fit perfectly with our rustic theme. The staff has been amazing to work with from day one. Taylor and Melissa both worked with me on getting my wedding just the way it was. They both responded quickly to phone calls and/or emails to any questions I had. The day of the wedding Melissa, Kelsey, Grace and Meredith were AWESOME to work with! From little requests to big, they did it all and did it well.
