She exceeded our expectations. The house is located on a very large lake property, facing south. The lake has a fair amount of motor boat traffic, but is crystal clear and allows to swim, fish, and kayak. The neighborhood is suburban, surrounded by developments, only 15-20 min from MSP. Stores are a 2 mile drive away. The house is generous and well equipped with cooking utensils, books, toys, games, kayaks, volleyball net, bikes, table tennis etc to providing ample entertainment. The master suite with the huge bathtub is humongous. The two bedrooms upstairs (a queen bed and a bunk bed in each) are generous in size and share a bathroom. The fourth bedroom on the main level is small in comparison and has more noise from kitchen and laundry room. Living room, master bedroom, and porch offer great Lake views. A gas fire place offers warmth in fall. We enjoyed s'mores and vino Rosso, generously provided by the host. The decor of the house is conservative. The kitchen and bathrooms were spotless and the grounds well groomed. A search for a lost shoe sent me diving under beds and behind couches, revealing that these areas need to be addressed by the housekeeping team. We had a wonderful time at the house. Adults, preteens and toddler loved the property and the sports opportunities. The lake is very close to the house - parents of young children must be on guard. A great place to enjoy family time.

When checking in, they asked us if we were here for a special occasion and upon learning that it was a girls night getaway, they provided us with BOGO app and drink coupons to the 2 restaurants onsite. They also suggested a few dishes to try. When we returned to our room after a show at the Orpheum, we found a bottle of bubbly with a handwritten note on the table!! It was such a kind gesture and so so thoughtful. I've never experienced something like that before - usually it's a birthday or anniversary where this type of stuff happens so we were thrilled the front desk would provide such a gift for friends simply getting together. We had dinner at Breva Bar (on the first floor) and loved the food. One tip - if the Minnesota Orchestra is having an event (close proximity), there will likely be a rush of diners beforehand and service can be tough/limited due to restaurant capacity. We experienced it first hand and had to wait a long time for food. But once the orchestra crowd cleared, it was prompt service. Another tip - do not skip the burrata & apple starter. It was so good we ordered it TWICE. Our room was on a high floor with views of downtown. The real star is though is the bed. I've stayed at Marriott properties before (Ivy is part of the Marriott family) but none of them compares to a Hotel Ivy bed. There's a reason this is a luxury hotel because this is a luxurious bed. Fun fact: Marriott actually sells these beds online and the prices are crazy expensive. There was complimentary coffee in the lobby the next morning. We enjoyed a simple but filling breakfast at the hotel bar before concluding our short 1 night but very memorable stay. So glad I got to experience Hotel Ivy, the beautiful ambiance, and stellar service. If I feel like spoiling myself again for another girls get together, I'm coming back here.

We would have been able to check in a little early, but there was a bit of a line due to a conference that was starting up the next day. Not an issue. We stayed on a Monday & Tuesday night. However, when I approached the desk, the young lady working couldn't find my reservation. I've been through this game before on more than one occasion with a third party booking agent. When I went back in with my further information another, more casually dressed, gentleman helped me and immediately found my reservation (without the further information). He told me that they would speak with the other worker for further training. Check in was then smooth. I informed the desk that my partner had fatigue/mobility issues, and they put us in a room both close to the entry way and close to the elevator. The room was spacious with 2 queen beds. This establishment definitely had a slightly higher quality of mattress than most budget/value level hotels, and this 6'9" 420 lbs Santa appreciated it greatly. The aesthetics of the hotel in the lobby and more public areas are quite modern with a slightly more quaint regional/forest/northern theme. We didn't snap too many pictures as the website and other third party sites (such as Yelp) have plenty that truly represent the current state of the hotel. Unfortunately, the hot tub was down at the time, and that discouraged me from even visiting the pool area. Maybe next time if we end up here, it was a touch disappointing as the pool/hot tub area was part of the draw for booking this room. No dings in the rating for this, though, as former hotel workers both my partner and I understand. There were a couple dings in the rating. When we got to our room we discovered that the industrial style toilet was leaking from the plumbing. It was slow enough that we decided not to bother the front desk with it until we left. We just placed a towel in the area to prevent spreading. I do feel that this could have been caught by housekeeping prior to our occupancy. The other ding comes in the fact that one of the lights was not properly plugged into the wall, the plug was behind a night stand. Again, I believe housekeeping should be checking to ensure all electronics are fully plugged in. Fortunately, nobody was hurt and I don't believe there was major damage, but the pedastal light came on when I touched it (due to the plug only being partially in the wall), and moments later there was a loud pop and half the room went dead. This was on check-out day, so again we didn't bother the front desk until then. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for families, those that can catch a good deal and want to be close to the Mall, and, well, we didn't take advantage of the discount to Fogao Gaucho, but we've heard great things (and the price even without the discount honestly isn't that bad).

Not worth the hype…read more Was genuinely excited to stay at the W Minneapolis from Dec 19-22, but unfortunately the experience ended up feeling underwhelming, and stressful. Cost. The W is expensive, which shouldn't surprise anyone. Nightly rates hover around $200+ per night. Valet parking is $60 per night; objectively overpriced, though undeniably convenient. Additional fees: Pet owners, expect a $100 flat fee plus $25 per night, which adds up quickly. Where things start to fall apart is navigation and access to information. The hotel is surprisingly confusing to get around, and there's virtually no wayfinding or signage. In fully embracing the digital-only approach, the hotel has eliminated all traditional paper materials. No map. No room book. No quick-reference guide. Everything lives digitally. That sounds modern--until you need basic information like restaurant hours. eg). I attempted to visit the bar on floor 27 at around 330 pm. (It doesn't open until 5pm) However none of this is clearly displayed, and SUPER difficult to find without messaging the front desk and the Marriott app was hit-or-miss at best during my stay. The digital key never worked once, and even the room phone didn't function. That wouldn't be a huge issue if the app worked reliably--but it didn't. I did message the front desk through the app to request a USB-C charging cable and was told none were available. In 2025. At a W. That felt less like sleek minimalism and more like missed fundamentals. Food/ Room Service: Absolutely excellent. Manny's Steakhouse and the Prohibition Bar are both fantastic and independently operated in partnership with the hotel. See Manny's Steakhouse for a full review, it alone was a highlight of the stay. The room itself was very spacious, but it's important to remember this is an old building, and it shows. I struggled to maintain a consistent water temperature the entire stay. The room layout was also frustrating: the TV is mounted far from the bed, on a wall shared with neighboring rooms. Turning up the volume even slightly resulted in a noise complaint from next door. Yep, that actually happened. Overall, the W Minneapolis has style, history, and good food...but the experience feels more focused on image than guest usability. With better wayfinding, reliable tech, and basic in-room information, this could be a great stay. As it stands, it didn't live up to the hype
