She exceeded our expectations. The house is located on a very large lake property, facing south. The lake has a fair amount of motor boat traffic, but is crystal clear and allows to swim, fish, and kayak. The neighborhood is suburban, surrounded by developments, only 15-20 min from MSP. Stores are a 2 mile drive away. The house is generous and well equipped with cooking utensils, books, toys, games, kayaks, volleyball net, bikes, table tennis etc to providing ample entertainment. The master suite with the huge bathtub is humongous. The two bedrooms upstairs (a queen bed and a bunk bed in each) are generous in size and share a bathroom. The fourth bedroom on the main level is small in comparison and has more noise from kitchen and laundry room. Living room, master bedroom, and porch offer great Lake views. A gas fire place offers warmth in fall. We enjoyed s'mores and vino Rosso, generously provided by the host. The decor of the house is conservative. The kitchen and bathrooms were spotless and the grounds well groomed. A search for a lost shoe sent me diving under beds and behind couches, revealing that these areas need to be addressed by the housekeeping team. We had a wonderful time at the house. Adults, preteens and toddler loved the property and the sports opportunities. The lake is very close to the house - parents of young children must be on guard. A great place to enjoy family time.

The front desk staff were amazing! Very friendly and we got cold water bottles to start, which was an unexpected but great surprise! We were on the 17th floor! Loved the views! My boyfriend and I drank wine and enjoyed the night views before dinner. The room was very comfortable! The bed was soft yet firm and the pillows were feather. It just had a luxurious feel to it! The tv in the room was huge! There is a minibar but of course it's expensive! There was a shower with a rainfall shower head, as well as a large soaking tub! Felt so good! All of the complimentary products smelled amazing! There are food/ bar options on the property. I have heard good things about them! We opted to go to Stock and Bond which is about a mile away and was VERY GOOD! While we were at dinner, someone brought up a chilled bottle of prosecco and small dessert. There was also a card of my boyfriend's birthday! A very welcome touch! This place does have breakfast you can order to your room! Or lunch, dinner, snacks, depending on the time of day. The menu looks great! This is a beautiful and clean property! Everyone was very friendly and I would happily stay here again!

Edit: Oh Janene. I was prepared to just leave you the blank 1-star review you deserved for your…read moreillegal business practices and just move on with my life. But see, now I have to share my story because your response reminded me how terrible you are. Long story short - don't apply to rent with Christy Living. Janene will add surprise fees to try to increase the rent AFTER you apply and she's given access to all your financial records. Then she will tell you that you only have 24 hours to sign the lease agreement in an effort to get away with it quickly. Minnesota Statute 82.78 prohibits rental services from advertising in a misleading way about fees, services, unit availability, or terms and conditions. Janene tried to sneakily add an extra $105 to our monthly rent for "pet rent" after we applied and were approved by her personally. Note - the application stated the rent for the property, and pet rent was not mentioned on her website, on any of her listings, or in the rental application I assume she drafted herself, given it's her business. I inquired about a property on July 15th via your website's contact form. Your leasing agent Heidi responded the next day via email. I informed her in my first email to her we were interested in touring the unit and that we had 3 pets. She listed the fees and utilities/fees for the unit as follows: "$1850 a month-you are responsible for all utilities, snow removal and lawn care. Pets need approval." We emailed back and forth all week with Heidi and toured the unit on the 19th and applied that same night. The instructions you're referring to on your website stated the following: "Before submitting your application, it is strongly recommended that you verify the property you desire is currently available (or has a unit meeting your needs, e.g. # of bedrooms, and amenities) by calling Christy Living at (612) 889-5100." Using basic human logic and common sense, most people would assume that they in fact do not need to call your rental office to confirm the unit's availability and amenities given they have toured the unit, are aware it's available, and have been corresponding with your own leasing agent for over a week. We're not the ones who made a mistake. We did everything we were supposed to do to confirm the property met all our needs. We told Heidi we applied to the property that Monday morning after we applied. Once again I mentioned my pets and offered to provide additional information about them. Once again, there was no mention of your pet rent policy. How strange! It seems like this policy only exists in your head. You strung us along another week and then emailed us at 6:00PM on Friday the 26th informing us we were approved and that we had 24 hours to sign the lease you attached, which included the pet rent you and Heidi conveniently forgot to mention for two weeks. You got mad when I pointed out all of this and refused to respond to my requests for more time with the lease so I could review it with an attorney. You just kept repeating over and over again it was our fault for not calling the office first to ask about a policy we weren't aware existed. You claim you decided not to rent to us because we were "aggressive", but we all know you just didn't want to deal with someone who pointed out to you what you were doing was illegal and a result of your own ineptitude. Like a child, you stopped responding to my emails because my partner left you a 1-star review that explained this situation truthfully. It's funny how you interpret anyone criticizing your unethical practices as threatening. I tried to smooth things over with you because you strung us along for two weeks and wasted valuable time we needed to find a new residence. Fortunately, we found a better place to live the very next day, and they actually were upfront about all their fees My request for you to drop the surprise fees was reasonable and is backed by the law. Like a true professional you stopped responding because you'd rather find a tenant you can scam than one who makes you adhere to the law.

This is by no means a complete list of lack of professionalism displayed by property manager…read moreChristy Living - owned by Janene Christy. All documented and saved in my emails because psje cannot be bothered to pick up the phone or return phone calls, and communicated by email 100% after initial phone call. - Janene does not perform move out or move in inspections. She will not provide insight on property condition, just instruct you to return security deposit. I received a surprise bill later due to the action of tenant. I paid their handyman to redo work a master carpenter initially performed. Manager said there was a tenant complaint about the work and is forcing me to pay for the bandaid fix. - Janene sent me the background report for someone not applying for my property. Report contains sensitive personal information (salary, addresses, last 4 of SSN). It was also a bit of a bait and switch. She sent us the background check for someone she claimed was an applicant. Once we approved, she sent the rental agreement with the name of a different person, that was not nearly as qualified. - Janene lost my keys (or did not ensure proper return of all keys by tenants, hard to tell due to her lack of communication. Either way a set was missing) Ended up finding them. Billed me for new copies of keys anyway. - Janene scheduled repair without authorization. Notice on repairs lack sufficient detail. Will not pick up the phone or send detailed email. (most notices are about 2 sentences). Janene approved reimbursement of supplies we did not approve. She stated she will deduct supply from rental payment when we stated we would not pay for something we did not approve. - Janene threatened me - see screenshot - following posting of my review. She claims that she will have our rental license cancelled. - Janene sent an expensive appliance repairman who charged $150-200 for a service call, just to tell me the appliance was broken. There was no attempt at repair as far as I can tell. There was no warning on how much the repair call would be. Had I known service call would be so expensive I would not have bothered and just scheduled replacement. Repair company sent quote for replacement was 25-33% higher than big box sites for obscure brand, not high end. - Janene never informed us that a tenant moved out. Relisted property on Zillow without informing us, at a rate several hundred below what others are paying for units that are not renovated. Our unit is well maintained and has brand new kitchen and bathroom. - Janene pushed us for concessions to tenant such as early move in. Stated this is fair exchange in 'lieu of cleaning,' despite the fact that THEIR cleaner cleaned the property (paid for by previous tenant). - Janene lacked knowledge on housing rules regarding ESAs. She did not let me know that Minneapolis treats ESAs similar to service animals (applicant can't be denied on this basis and can't be charged pet fee). I had to do my own research, which I shared with her - Based on latest contract Janene wanted us to sign, it is clear she primarily wants to do the easy work. namely listing the property on Zillow and background check, which we can do ourselves. We had to fight for move out inspection to be included. Viewings seemed to be via lockbox rather than showing the property in person, and we say this because she was super vague about the condition of the property. ----------------- Edit: I saw Janene's response here. She claims we can't afford her and we don't believe in maintaining our property. The first claim is presumptuous on her part and the second is an outright lie. We chose her based on her reviews though we now realize that she probably has all good reviews because she threatens people who post critical reviews. 2nd - We literally spent $30K on updates and repairs on our property in the last 5 years which she knows about, and in the nearly 5 years she 'managed' our property, we only refused 2 requests. The first is new kitchen window treatments. The second is a cheap workaround due to shoddy work performed by her own handyman, that she refused to explain to us. Let me repeat, she expected us to pay for the bandaid fix for the shoddy work of her own contractor. She said she would do it anyway and take it off our rent payment. (The nerve of this woman.) If anyone is interested in talking to me about working with Janene, I would be happy to talk to you. Obviously you can make your own assessment. You might also want to read the hidden reviews here and consider that she likely threatened others into taking down bad reviews of her. Obviously her attempt to bully us did not work. (As for the different account names I have used on google review and here - I have used various email addresses over the years (yahoo, gmail, protonmail) using maiden name or nicknames. And I match website username to the email address).

We would have been able to check in a little early, but there was a bit of a line due to a conference that was starting up the next day. Not an issue. We stayed on a Monday & Tuesday night. However, when I approached the desk, the young lady working couldn't find my reservation. I've been through this game before on more than one occasion with a third party booking agent. When I went back in with my further information another, more casually dressed, gentleman helped me and immediately found my reservation (without the further information). He told me that they would speak with the other worker for further training. Check in was then smooth. I informed the desk that my partner had fatigue/mobility issues, and they put us in a room both close to the entry way and close to the elevator. The room was spacious with 2 queen beds. This establishment definitely had a slightly higher quality of mattress than most budget/value level hotels, and this 6'9" 420 lbs Santa appreciated it greatly. The aesthetics of the hotel in the lobby and more public areas are quite modern with a slightly more quaint regional/forest/northern theme. We didn't snap too many pictures as the website and other third party sites (such as Yelp) have plenty that truly represent the current state of the hotel. Unfortunately, the hot tub was down at the time, and that discouraged me from even visiting the pool area. Maybe next time if we end up here, it was a touch disappointing as the pool/hot tub area was part of the draw for booking this room. No dings in the rating for this, though, as former hotel workers both my partner and I understand. There were a couple dings in the rating. When we got to our room we discovered that the industrial style toilet was leaking from the plumbing. It was slow enough that we decided not to bother the front desk with it until we left. We just placed a towel in the area to prevent spreading. I do feel that this could have been caught by housekeeping prior to our occupancy. The other ding comes in the fact that one of the lights was not properly plugged into the wall, the plug was behind a night stand. Again, I believe housekeeping should be checking to ensure all electronics are fully plugged in. Fortunately, nobody was hurt and I don't believe there was major damage, but the pedastal light came on when I touched it (due to the plug only being partially in the wall), and moments later there was a loud pop and half the room went dead. This was on check-out day, so again we didn't bother the front desk until then. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for families, those that can catch a good deal and want to be close to the Mall, and, well, we didn't take advantage of the discount to Fogao Gaucho, but we've heard great things (and the price even without the discount honestly isn't that bad).

Not worth the hype…read more Was genuinely excited to stay at the W Minneapolis from Dec 19-22, but unfortunately the experience ended up feeling underwhelming, and stressful. Cost. The W is expensive, which shouldn't surprise anyone. Nightly rates hover around $200+ per night. Valet parking is $60 per night; objectively overpriced, though undeniably convenient. Additional fees: Pet owners, expect a $100 flat fee plus $25 per night, which adds up quickly. Where things start to fall apart is navigation and access to information. The hotel is surprisingly confusing to get around, and there's virtually no wayfinding or signage. In fully embracing the digital-only approach, the hotel has eliminated all traditional paper materials. No map. No room book. No quick-reference guide. Everything lives digitally. That sounds modern--until you need basic information like restaurant hours. eg). I attempted to visit the bar on floor 27 at around 330 pm. (It doesn't open until 5pm) However none of this is clearly displayed, and SUPER difficult to find without messaging the front desk and the Marriott app was hit-or-miss at best during my stay. The digital key never worked once, and even the room phone didn't function. That wouldn't be a huge issue if the app worked reliably--but it didn't. I did message the front desk through the app to request a USB-C charging cable and was told none were available. In 2025. At a W. That felt less like sleek minimalism and more like missed fundamentals. Food/ Room Service: Absolutely excellent. Manny's Steakhouse and the Prohibition Bar are both fantastic and independently operated in partnership with the hotel. See Manny's Steakhouse for a full review, it alone was a highlight of the stay. The room itself was very spacious, but it's important to remember this is an old building, and it shows. I struggled to maintain a consistent water temperature the entire stay. The room layout was also frustrating: the TV is mounted far from the bed, on a wall shared with neighboring rooms. Turning up the volume even slightly resulted in a noise complaint from next door. Yep, that actually happened. Overall, the W Minneapolis has style, history, and good food...but the experience feels more focused on image than guest usability. With better wayfinding, reliable tech, and basic in-room information, this could be a great stay. As it stands, it didn't live up to the hype
