Super clean, new, quiet, no weird smells, super comfortable beds and sheets, comfy desk chair of pleather which can be easily wiped of previous humans, TV has HBO and all basic channels, wifi fast, bathroom large and well lit and mirrored with huge counter space, kitchenette looks tiny but the fridge is much larger than usual that I fit 3 days worth of meals in there and it wasn't anywhere near full. Coffee machine was simple to run water through to clean before my use, super quick Keurig. They had paper plates, bowls, forks, coffee and plastic cups and even one large glass covered microwave dish for reheating food. I appreciate the large mirror, hooks and wall shelf at entrance and the huge closet and room safe. There is a black out shade and also a sheer shade which are far better than smelly drapes. All staff I came in contact with was helpful, polite and friendly. It's not very far from MOA and I noticed a shuttle at the front so I assume they even do airport pick ups, but didn't use so cannot confirm. There is a small amount of road noise but it's more of a quiet din. I did not use the pool, hot tub or work out room but they look fabulous. Each floor has a laundry room with counter operated machines if you need clean clothes and of course and in room ironing board and iron whoch easily pulls down from a slim cabinet. Obviously I highly endorse here if in the metro area.

Imagine my surprise then when at 8am (seriously, who starts housekeeping this early?!) housekeeping entered my room by disengaging the security latch. Wouldn't this be a clue that someone would be in the room, potentially asleep or in the shower unable to hear the knocking? This is infuriating and incredibly unsafe. Once the door opened and the security latch had caught, I was awake. No one called out "hello? Housekeeping" They just proceeded to disengage and walk in. Clean hotel. Would not stay again

She was pleasant and friendly over the phone when I made our room reservation. I will say most of the B & B's I've enjoyed, was partially because we had a chance to get to know the owners a bit and see how passionate they were about making a great B & B experience for everyone who stayed with them. So, maybe I've just been spoiled a bit by the extent of the services and amenities others offer, but that's my comparison. What this place does have going for it, is it's location. However depending on where your room is, you'll hear the traffic noise as this is located on a busy street. Also, the fact that there isn't really much else around lodging accommodations limits your choices for this area. There is private parking for guests. The room was clean and comfortable. It was lacking the extra little touches that many travelers have come to appreciate from bed & breakfast operators-shampoo, blower dryer, complementary water or soda, glassware or plasticware instead of dixie cups in the room. Self service coffee, tea and microwave popcorn was available in the dining area. For the price of the rooms, the little extra touches might have helped.

But hey, our hosts were relaxed and friendly, and the folks we sat down with to breakfast had fun stories to tell. The rooms are idiosyncratic but charming. The bathrooms: just idiosyncratic, but they worked. Breakfasts on the weekends were more elaborate and tasty, and on weekdays simpler but adequate. I get the feeling this may vary with the number of guests. The Birdhouse is on a "busy" intersection which is no big deal because Excelsior is a pretty quiet little town; and a charming one. You are a walk away from good shops and restaurants. You are a very short walk from Lake Minnetonka and its activities. The Porch and grounds are delightful. If you get the right weather for it, lazing outside could be a delicious experience, with an elevated view of the neighborhood. Of course, getting bearable weather (not too many mosquitoes, not too much heat and humidity, not 5 degrees below zero, can take scheduling and luck. In the winter, I imagine the large parlor would be very inviting. So a point off for the various weird bathrooms, which were all functional but awkward, but all in all, I will be staying there again, the next time I visit relatives.

Hotel Having the…read moreneed to be in the Delano area for a couple of days, the options for lodging are somewhat limited. The Grand Stay is a smallish midwestern chain and there happened to be on in town so I grabbed a room for a few nights Small but nice lobby greets you as you walk in and the attentive fellow behind the desk got me squared away with a room in short order. I was up on the third floor so hopped the elevators and headed up. Elevator arrived and operated in the normal amount of time - so all good. Room was nicely appointed and clean. Bathroom was good sized, well lit and functional. Hot water was hot. There is a large indoor pool available, but I did not have the time to do anything there. They offer a free breakfast in the morning but to be honest, it was very basic. Coffee was decent however. The building is situated on the edge of a strip mall and there is an Italian sports bar there if you feel the need to grab something to eat and watch the game. Parking lot was a bit small and cramped, but got the job done. Overall a solid 3-star hotel and I would stay here again if in the area.

We come here a few times a year and have had birthday parties for our daughters there. It's priced fairly as well! We spent nearly 6 weeks there with our 3 daughters, dog and cat as we waited for our new home to be finished. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We felt like we were family by the time we left! They provide a bigger than normal continental breakfast with waffles, variety of donuts and mini muffins along with a hot meal option from eggs to bacon and sausage to biscuits and gravy. Definitely nice to have some options. The cleaning staff are very nice and always willing to help! Definitely recommend this hotel if you have to stay for an extended period of time or just a night!! Thanks for a great experience!
