I shouldn't write this review, because then The Other Store wouldn't be my neighborhood secret anymore! Would you agree that anybody who painted starry night on the back of their building it's worth a second look?! They also have a great covered porch to sit outside on, or you can sit inside at a few tables. The atmosphere is very casual and down to earth, definitely a neighborhood vibe lots of local regulars (like me). You can't go wrong with anything here. My personal favorite is the spring chicken, but one time I saw a woman sitting at the counter who told me she was from Brooklyn, and told me they serve the best Ruben she had ever eaten. The staff is so friendly. Everyone knows the owner is named Linda. I can't remember exactly what day but I think it's Thursdays that she cooks a chicken bog. Order at the counter, pay in the convenience store section, and then wait for your food. The homemade cakes are so amazing that people order them for parties. Your choice, sweet tea or unsweet, with lemon and sometimes mint beside the self-serve styrofoam cups. Truly a local, southern, gem.

Wonderful little store located in the heart of Forest Acres that serves a dam fine biscuit ! The best one is the sausage egg and cheese with a .99 apple juice to wash it all down for breakfast. They have a free books section for the neighborhood or any customers visiting the store. Also love the people who work here and their good attitudes about life. Local ice cream from Epworth Children's Home is found by the register. An old school place worth visiting, breakfast during the week only. Free parking of course to all visitors.

This is my Monday lunch spot, a true hidden gem of Columbia sandwich shops. They'll make your food to order and everything is quality. Definitely a unique lunch spot and great overall experience.

Don't be put off by the parking lot or location. I made my own parking spot and incredibly glad I did! The Lukester is a mouthgasm like never experienced before. Make the right choice come here. The service is also amazing but let's be honest I could have been served by giant termites as long as it tastes this good!!!

The Spring Chicken: chopped white meat (a tad dry) on sour dough bread with alfalfa sprouts and tomato.

This establishment is a store in front and restaurant in back with a deck outside. Most people will pass right by as it looks more like a gas station. The lunch fare is pretty good with fresh ingredients and the place draws a local crowd as it seemed the staff new most patrons.

I came in a few minutes after 10:00 a.m., the time they open, and while I don't expect a restaurant to be in tip-top shape the second they open, they did not seem at all ready for the day or to accept customers. I stood at the front for a few awkward moments before asking one of the hostesses if I was supposed to seat myself, when she replied "oh no, I'll seat you", and then led me to one of the nearby tables. Somewhat grossly, the tablecloth on the table I was seated at was covered with coffee stains from previous guests, which was kind of unsettling. I then asked for a cup of coffee, and was told that there wasn't any ready, and that I would need to wait a few minutes. Again, not a huge deal, but I would expect a breakfast restaurant to have some coffee ready by the time that they open. Second, when perusing the menu, I was not particularly impressed by their "limited breakfast" options, nor anything on their regular menu. I decided to go with a simple hot dog, and substituted the offered sides with an order of French fries, which ridiculously cost me almost $4 extra. In addition, my hot dog was fine, but nothing exceptional, and definitely not better than one I could've gotten at Costco for a markedly cheaper price. The one (1) bright spot was that the fries were very good, and of higher quality than most other fries I've gotten at similar restaurants. Finally, my server was nice enough, but a little rough around the edges and not overly attentive. In addition, the ambiance was pretty basic, with nothing about it that really stuck out. All-in-all, I wouldn't be adverse to returning to DiPratos on a Saturday or Sunday to try their breakfast menu, but I won't be coming back during the week, and wouldn't really recommend that anybody else do so either.
