And there are some amazing freestone peaches in stock right now (Sep 17/2025) ...along with a great selection of tomatoes, peppers, potatos, onions, greens and a host of other farm-fresh and canned veggies/produce. Too many items to list -- and prices that are very competitive with the big box stores. Did I say, canned farm goods, like succulent juicy tomatoes, canned and ready for your homemade sauce or casserole? The list goes on and on, Honey (double entendre here). I will say I was somewhat disappointed they did not have canning tomatoes. Their tomatoes were 3.99 a pound. I had to spend my money in Nashville at the farmers market. The tomatoes I purchased were 1.50 a pound and were just as nice. I will still continue to buy my regular fruits and vegetables at Williams Produce. They are nice people.

When walking around the block was no longer sufficient to satisfy my 'getting out' needs, I... went online and bought my strawberries remotely. Fruit picking from April to October has always been something I've enjoyed about the area and knowing that that pastime was going to stay in the past, I pivoted -- as did the folks at Batey Farms. I've been north, south, west, and east in my search for fresh produce outside of Nashville. Surprising to me, I had yet to go to Batey Farms. I think I'd planned on going with a friend who lived in the area but we put it off thinking we had plenty of time to do it later. Oh, box of plagues and troubles that was opened lo so many years ago (at this point)... you never fail to disappoint and stress. So, I wanted strawberries. I wanted fresh strawberries. I didn't want to buy overpriced strawberries from the supermarket that were coated in pesticides. I didn't have a lot of choices. Many u-pick farms were shut down and discombobulated. Thankful that someone in the Batey family is a crafty zoomer (millennials are old/40s now; youth is new), they had a system in play. Go online. Pick the amount of berries you want. Pay. Arrange a pick-up time. Drive to the farm. Sit in queue. Verify your order with a number. Pop the trunk. Deliver berries. Leave. Granted, a lot of the fun of local produce is spending time outside and picking the best berries but some things can't be helped. I was just grateful that someone thought up a workable system. One caveat, though: the ordering system was/is a bit Mad Maxish. Berries sold out. Fast. Think of it as a berry version of trying to snag seats at the Bluebird. Don't wait until the last minute or think the first time out will satisfy your itch. Patience is definitely a virtue.; that and expert internet-fu. I ordered. I hit the road on a Sunday afternoon. I enjoyed a leisurely drive. I drove through a neighborhood. I arrived to orderly chaos. I gave my number. I popped the trunk. I got my berries. I left. Super efficient process. No (reasonable) complaints. I drove home and studied my berries. I had a fair amount of 'I would have picked these' berries so no (fair) complaints. There's nothing like the real thing but as we've learned -- and, are still learning -- to get through life one must pivot. Strawberries makes doing so all the sweeter. And, to be all the way truthful, if I could remotely pick my berries I think I might prefer this system. This year, we'll see if I can resume the hunt. If not, at least I know how to scratch my itch. At the tiny store located on their farm, you'll find refrigerators filled with steaks, pork, bacon, and countless meats from their farm-raised pigs and cattle. Their ribeye steaks are spectacular, but their pork belly might just be the best in the country! I'd highly recommend putting this drive out to Thompson's Station on your bucket list. Parking is free in a grassy field. Depending on arrival time it may be a short walk to the entrance. They offer wagons to help get pumpkins to the car at the end. The field trip here exceeded my expectations. It was educational and fun for the kids. The kids arrived and had their sack lunches at the picnic tables. A farm guide led our group to the different areas. I loved that every area started as educational. It was the perfect amount of time to keep the interest of first graders. Then the kids would get to play and burn off energy for 10-15 minutes before the next section. We went on a wagon ride and the kids were able to pick pumpkins from a patch to take home. A highlight for my daughter was watching the cows eat pumpkins. I just loved how the farm structured the field trip. The farm is open to the public on weekends in September and October. Check their Instagram for the specific weekends and times. This is a family/kid centered fall activity. They have animals, mazes, playgrounds, and games spread out across the property. Come in walking shoes and spend a few hours playing with the kids. At the front of the property they have pumpkins of all sizes and colors. The pricing is reasonable on what they offer. A small concession stand offers water, soda, and packaged snacks. The only thing that would make the fall experience here more fun would be some fall foods. Maybe a collaboration or food trucks on site with donuts, coffee, or ciders. Admission is reasonably priced for all of the activities they offer. All activities offered are included in the admission fee. Seniors and kids under a certain age (I believe two years) are free. A trip to Gentry's Farm is a fall must do for our family.

I went on a Friday afternoon with my family - 4 kids, 2 adults - parking was easy. We bought wristbands for ages 4+ and they were $12 each. I thought it was reasonable given all of the activities: animals, slides, tractor rides, hay bales to climb, corn to play in and a few other things. We stayed about 3 hours. They had lots of bathrooms (porta potty's only). We didn't buy any food but I saw they had a ton of options and it was all priced super reasonable. My kids each got a small pumpkin and I appreciated how many they had for $1-$2. They had many great places for photo ops. Overall solid time, I would recommend it and come back. We have visited one other similar place this fall and Walden was FAR better.
