They have many areas that you can purchase food, water, and snacks. The animals there are really cool and the rides are a lot of fun! I came here with my parents and mi kiddos. It was super busy so it felt overwhelming because they have everything concentrated in one area and not very spread out. They have a system for payment so you have to get a punched card to pay for the ride and kids activities. It kind of sucks because it's only $10 for 10 punches but if you only want 3 you'll still have to get the 10. Yet had a corn maze but it really was see through so it was not that fun. They also had a hay pyramid they kids could climb and have fun. They also had a hay maze that my son enjoyed very much. Their prices for pumpkins were very high and their pumpkins were not big enough for what they were asking for each size. They had a few free things the kids can do and also a food area. We had lots of fun with the kids here this year! The farm is free but certain activities cost "Walden bucks." 1$ = 1 Walden Buck. You can buy these in various locations around the farm and use them for activities, food, and the general store. It was very crowded so I would suggest getting there when they open and getting your favorites out of the way first. They had a pumpkin patch, toddler area, hay ride, and lots more of your typical fall activities. Lots of photo ops! read more

I have to start out with a FIVE STAR rating (would be more if possible) for an employee in the parking area named Cannon (spelling?)... he assisted my little sister and I to find a place VERY close to the entry so neither of us would have to walk very far. I didn't see any handicap parking areas (reason for 4 stars) as I have certification for that, and brought my placard to put on her mirror. My sis had rolled down her window, and I stated, reluctantly, that I had cancer with some side effects that were causing me problems that day, and Cannon said he had a family member that had cancer as well (?) and he'd take care of the parking AND pray for me! God bless this precious young man... we don't find many like him these days. Anywho, we followed him almost out of the place, right up to the entry!!! WOOT WOOT!!! It couldn't get much better, as I'll explain later... Cannon asked if I needed any more assistance, and I gratefully said no, thank you... that he was a blessing and that I'd pray for him as well, and those he loved. We were both happy. We get out of the car, and start looking for my niece and two great nieces... "Grandma Honey" gives my niece Kristin a call and finds out she's not that far away from where we're parked, heading at approximately the 11 o'clock direction of Kat's car. Sis says to stay put and they'll all be back in a moment so we can join up with Kristin's other mommy friends and their kids. Now, as I'm standing there, it's getting hot. Usually heat up to 100 degrees doesn't even bother me in the least... seriously... barely break a mist of a sweat... and a weird complication of something that happened because I was going to the gym AND I have cancer... long story that would be TL;DR... my polycythemia kicked in. Although I have perfect lungs, I got short of breath and immediately was exhausted although all I did was stand there. I was fine when I got out of the car... and thought "Uh oh. There goes a great review!" Anyway, the fam shows up and we go get our Walden Bucks... a "card" is $10 and is good for the hayride, activities, food, drinks, gifts, etc. Handy! I can't remember if I took a pic of the card, but I think not... they're a cute orange, with 5 little pumpkin heads one gets punched out as they're spent. We get in the VERY long line for the hayride, and I realize I. CANNOT. DO. THIS. I tell my sis to tell Kristin that I have to go sit down, as the polycythemia has popped up out of the blue and knocked Auntie out. Sis says after the hayride she will be finished as well, as her back issues far exceed mine exponentially, and she really should never have gone in the first place... but... daughter, granddaughters. Y'all get the picture. We grandmothers have to appear indestructible! I find an end spot on a picnic table in the shade across from the hayride, the main food "court" and where one could buy "goodies"... and to my left was sand art and other cool things to do that unfortunately I didn't have the strength to check out or take pics of... To the right of the hayride is a really adorable changing station "shack"... once again, not sure if I got pics. (I ended up with rhabdomyolysis from the gym because of my kidney cancer. Check out "10 symptoms of rhabdomyolysis" at facty.com and you'll see why I'm brain dead right now, and VERY lucky I'm not dead!) As I was sitting there waiting, and guarding Kristin's stroller, I realized I left my water bottle in the car. I had my $10 Walden Bucks card, but there was no way I could stand in those loooooong lines. So, I thought I could possibly bribe someone to get me 2 bottles of water and they could have what was left on the card for their trouble. Great idea, right? Nope. Didn't have the strength to get up and do even that... so my second Angel of Walden helped me out. I had noticed an older gentleman going back and forth from a tent-like structure to the right in front of me, and I asked if he would be so kind to do that next time he went there... and he said "Honey, here's two waters. Don't worry about it!" I was all "But sir... please, bless you, but at least take this card I'm not going to use and give it to someone you think needs it the most..." He got the biggest smile under that light blue mask that matched those twinkling blue eyes and said "Done!" I had two free waters (basically) gifted a card I wasn't going to use, had a water for my poor sister when she got off a ride she shouldn't have been on in the first place... and found out this place has the most amazing employees!!! Anyway, the fam got off the ride and first thug Kat says is "Are you ready to go???" Well, YEAH! So goodbyes were said, hugs given, and the blessed short trek (thank you again, Cannon) to the car was made. Cars still coming in nonstop. Hopefully next year, as especially as the younger will be TWO then, I will be able to go back and try this again! read more

Went to Walden Farms for the first time ever today. I had a good time... but I was in utter shock at the state of the animals pens. The cows were covered in crap... crap was everywhere covering their pen and they were laying in it. All of the animals water containers were absolutely disgusting. The water in the duck pen specifically was filled with duck crap and mold. All of the water containers looked like they hadnt been changed in weeks. The living conditions of these animals was appalling. I'm no "farmer" but I know bad animal living conditions when I see them. The cows hooves were caked in crap and the cows also looked so uncomfortable and very upset. Something was wrong with them. They seemed stressed and their pen was disgusting. I really hope these animals get more attention and care when they aren't being swarmed by screaming children. I understand the appeal of a "petting zoo" aspect to a pumpkin patch... but these conditions these animals were in was really heart wrenching. Instead of worrying about making a ton of money... maybe putting some of that money towards better living conditions and CLEAN WATER for these animals and people to check on them. Any living thing you bring into your life needs to be cared for. Stop trying to just make a quick buck off of these creatures. THEY ARE LIVING THINGS. GIVE THEM CLEAN WATER, CLEAN PENS, AND OVERALL BETTER LIVING CONDITIONS None of this was okay. read more

This is a yearly tradition, and a good spot for kids of all ages. Activities are paid for with Walden bucks, which can be purchased upon arrival. Admission and parking is free. The grounds are well kept, and the food is pretty good. Staff are all pleasant. We have always had fun here. The country store sells all sorts of butters, jelly, relishes, candles, toys and seasonal decor. They are also reasonable in price. The honey is only 12.00. It's the perfect way to spend a beautiful fall day. Great place for toddlers to get worn out too . read more

It's fall, y'all! And you know what that means: pumpkins, hay, corn stalks! Sure, you can pick these up at your corner farm stand or (gasp) a home mega-store. But why not double down with a serious autumn treat?! At Walden Farm, they've got pumpkins galore. Corn stalks for days. Hay mazes and mountains like you can't believe. But they've also got face painting, a toddler area with gobs of toy tractors, toy farm equipment and (obviously) toy dinosaurs! There are animals like piglets, sheep, goats, cows, chickens, turkeys - all waiting to be fed by YOU! BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!! How does a ride on a trailer pulled by a huge tractor sound? You get to ride through the farm, past corn fields and pumpkin patches, with some decorated hay bales and spooky friends thrown in for flair. Another tractor ride puts you in decorated oil cans (yep) and pulls you through corn fields. There's a general store with all sorts of cute goodies. Fall decor abounds, so you can snap as many selfies as your cloud can handle. Payment is easy at Walden Farm. When you arrive, the friendly staff makes parking a breeze. From there, just mosey over to the "Walden Bucks" stand. You buy punch cards, which make the transactions for pumpkins, rides, etc. a breeze Yes, it's a bit of a haul from the city. But it's a pretty drive, and gets you in the autumn spirit faster than you can say "pumpkin spice." read more

Definitely a good choice if you are looking for a true fall festival experience. The place is very well laid out and lots of activities for the kids. We love Walden Farms! Since having my daughter in 2012, it has become a family tradition each Fall. With the pumpkin patch, corn maze, haunted hay ride, hay slides, "Creepy Corner" haunted house for little ones, mini train rides, petting farm, etc. there is something to do in every corner of this place. We love to make a day out of it and typically eat a picnic lunch there and enjoy all that Walden Farms has to offer. Parking is free. Admission is free. You purchase "Walden Bucks" upon arrival which get you in to each attraction. Most attractions average to be about $1 per person. You could have a great time with a $20 bill. This is also a great place to take family pictures, as they have set up different backdrops specifically for a photo op. I would highly recommend Walden Farms for your next pumpkin patch adventure. read more

We came over the weekend and still had a good time, but not as good as last year. ALL of the animal feed dispensers were empty and not refilled the entire 5 hours we stayed (not acceptable) and the conveyor belt contraptions meant to send feed up to the goats were broken. The animals were nervous and wary and stayed out of petting radius (can you blame them?) The gift shop is a mish mash of really random stuff...weird totally unrelated souvenir toys, candy apples and overpriced fall decor and a huge shelf of jams at the back. The pumpkins had been massively picked over and a lot were rotting. You'd pick one up thinking you'd finally found a good one and the entire other side was rotted out. On the positive side, there were freaking AHHHHMAZINGGGG homemade burgers and delicious funnel cake. The BBQ bean bowl I had was half good, the BBQ was out of this world delicious, while the cornbread and white beans were completely flavorless (seriously needed some salt and seasoning!) Their (new? I don't remember it being there last year) system of Walden bucks was inconvenient and annoying. Stand around in lengthy lines for mandatory punch cards for your rides...why not just pay in cash and avoid this hassle? They're operating like a huge theme park but their operation isn't big enough to need that. They should be focusing more on reparations and upkeep and less worried about punch cards. Walden Farms is in shambles and it's a darned shame. Maybe we'll go explore a different pumpkin patch this coming weekend. Edited to add: Just noticed another Yelper speak of the hay ride, and now that she mentions it, I recall that, shockingly, this IS NO hay on the hay ride! It's more like a tractor ride with two benches per trailor. Not authentic at all = further disappointment in retrospect. Skip it. read more

I wish I had read ALL of the other reviews carefully enough to realize that this was NOT a place where we could pick our own pumpkins from a patch. That's one of my favorite things about fall: riding a hay ride out to a patch and picking our pumpkins from the vine. Not the case here. And the pumpkins that were laid out to purchase were not cheap. They must be making a killing at this place. Sure, admission is free, but you can't really *do* a whole lot for free. First, you have to purchase "Walden Bucks", which are $10 punch cards. Each card has 10 punches. I guess this reduces the need to take cash and cards at each area, but it's an odd system. I'd rather pay a la carte for the activities I want to do rather than end up having 2 punches remaining on the card when I'm all done. Petting the animals is free, and that was enjoyable. The hay ride was 3 punches each (so $9 for my family of 3), and the kids play area was 4 punches for the kiddo and 1 punch for each adult. First of all, I think making parents pay to supervise their children is ridiculous. Kids need to be watched, but my husband and I couldn't really do anything else back there, so making us pay $1 each just seems greedy. And it's not like there was anything spectacular back there...it was standard farm stuff--a big stack of hay kids can climb, a slide made out drain tubing, a small corn maze. We've been to other pumpkin patches where stuff like that is all free because there's very little upkeep required. We walked through the little haunted house and there was so much dust I almost choked. They need to put some money into improvements if they're going to try to take my money like an amusement park. My son had fun, but he's not hard to please. He did a sand art thing for 3 punches, which was cute, but the area was too small for the amount of people they let in there at one time. It should be noted that the Walden Bucks can be used toward food or pumpkins. We decided not to get pumpkins because if I'm going to overpay for a pumpkin, I want to at least have picked it from the patch myself. Our remaining 2 Walden Bucks punches went toward a funnel cake, which was really good. The rest of the food looked good too, and the prices were what I'd consider average for this type of setting. The farm opens at noon on Sundays and we got there at 10 of and there were already a ton of people there. We're in Nashville for fall break because my husband is here for work, so we are not local. I looked up the closest pumpkin patches to Nashville, and the one that was an equal distance from where we're staying is closed on Sundays. I don't know what the other patches in this area are like, but I can say that I've experienced better elsewhere. read more

If you have little kids, this is the place to go in Nashville for Pumpkin Patch fun. Parking and Admission are free, and includes lots of photo ops, farm animals, and a pumpkin patch. But stop by the ATM on the way - lots of fun activities throughout, reasonably priced $2-4. They also have a $10 punch card - a great way to give kids a chance to spend with a budget, but all the activities take a cash. We spent about $25 for our family of four (including a huge pumpkin) and everyone had a blast. Some of the other places charge up to $12pp and the lines just to get in are crazy. read more

I just got back with my son's field trip there and we spent $17 a piece to be there a little over 1 hour. I felt like we got ripped off. I was a chaperone and since both of my sons were on the field trip yet in different classes I took both of my sons and merged with one class. After we ate our picnic lunch I went back to the gate and was turned away from entering. The woman asked me what I wanted and I told her we didn't get to go on one thing that my 7 year old really wanted to try. She said no and we were turned away. I would suggest Lucky Ladd Farms. Their class went there last year and we were able to stay and play longer after the buses left. I felt like it was a much better bargain and it definitely had more to offer. read more

We've been going here for four years and our eight and four year old children still love it. The highlights are a tractor ride, hay and corn mazes, feeding goats, and a great kids area with a mountain of bales of hay to climb, slides, seesaws, a small haunted house, and a lot more. The individual attractions are a bit expensive for what they are ($4 per person for the tractor ride for example), but there's so much free stuff to enjoy as well that you can easily spend a fall afternoon here for $30 with a family of four (not counting food), which is really quite reasonable. It should be noted that most (maybe even all?) of the pumpkins are pre-picked, so it might not be the pumpkin picking experience that people expect. But still an enjoyable day trip from Nashville and a perfect place to spend a fall day with kids. read more

I visited this farm with a local school. The farm has a nice set up. Pets, Pumpkin patch, stories, wagon ride. However, The cost per person was $6.00...After I left I was still wondering what I got for six dollars. I can go to many pumpkin patches for free and see the same thing. My big problem was the women in the orange shirts were RUDE. We could not move without one of them yelling at us. Seriously!!! They need to learn kid friendly behavior. Never again!!! Walden Farms Pumpkin Patch has become a tradition in our family. We go every year and my children love it. I have a 6 year old girl and a 15 year old boy and there is plenty of things there to make both of my kids at their ages happy. Cost is very reasonable. We take maybe $40 and my kids get to enjoy the petting zoo, corn maze, hayride, the best pumpkin fudge and they each get to pick out a pumpkin. Cheaper than a movie and much better quality time. They get more excited by our trip to the pumpkin patch every year than they do trick or treating and fall festivals. read more

After reading the reviews for this pumpkin patch I decided to take my son here. We are new to the area and I have great memories as a child going to pick pumpkins with my mother, I wanted the same for my son. Sadly when I got Walden's I was highly disappointed. The advertisement of "pick your own pumpkins" sounds like you go into a field and pick them off the vine which is exactly what I was looking for, but instead the farm just took the smallest pumpkins they could find and laid them out on the grass in the middle of the activities. The other pumpkins were way over priced especially since I decided to go buy pumpkins at Kroger instead and got 2 large pumpkins for $8 total instead of the $16 the farm charged for one. My son begged to go on the hay ride that was completely hayless. This farm is great for very little kids (I'd say ages 3 and below), but if you have a child a bit older the farm looses it's appeal. read more
