We also ordered the charcuterie plate, which was filled with delicious meats and dried fruit. The only area of improvement would be the consistency and speed at preparing the drinks. Since we were waiting for a table at Gallagher's, we only had about 30 minutes at the restaurant. However, either due to an inconsistent kitchen or too much care with the food, the drinks and food took quite a while to get out and delayed us from getting to our table by about 20 minutes. It also brought back fond memories of one of our early dates at a Left Bank in Pleasant Hill CA, when Gayle put me to the test. :) p.s. - I'm still around after 20 years. Our tour had just arrived in Kilkenny and as we walked down through the Food Festival (it was also a Bank Holiday), we needed to find a bank to replenish our cash reserve for tips and such. As we were Downtown, that was easy to accomplish. After that, I asked Gayle if she wanted to eat at the food festival or sit down somewhere. She opted for the latter, and Left Bank was right there! The place was packed and with great happy Bank Holiday energy, but the nice guy greeting us suggested we walk around and see if we could find an empty table. After about 5 minutes of searching, we spied a couple just leaving at a table by the window and we grabbed it. We were served quickly by an observant wait person, and before we knew it, my Chicken BLT and Gayle's Burger were right there. My choice was very good, and Gayle's burger was amazing. My adult beverage of choice was a Smithwicks, while Gayle stuck to her go-to Chardonnay choice (but with a burger?). Then as we're enjoying our Lunch, we look out the window and there's our friends Don and Fern walking down the food festival street! Gayle quickly left to chase them down, and with enough room at the table, the more the merrier! If we weren't on the tour clock, I would have gone another round. My problem is she should not be making them if she doesn't know what she is doing. Management is the problem because my dad complained and the manager said he the place was busy and if we didn't like it we could leave. Now the place was maybe half full, an having worked in bars and restaurants for most of my life he is obviously doesn't know what he is doing either as he had plenty of staff but didn't know how to be a manager. He was such a bad manager that either this poor girl couldn't ask for help and or he was so stupid he didn't notice she needed the help. Each of the 15 people finished their drinks, cocktails were left half drank, and we left and none of us will ever return. It's a shame because nearly all of us really like the porter houses in bray and Dublin.

We arrived at 8:45 for a drink or two at the bar and the hostess told me that the bar seats were typically reserved! Mind you, there are only two women at a bar with about 10-12 chairs and they were paying their bill and preparing to leave! So I am glad they could "find room" for us. The bartender asked us what we wanted without a smile or a welcome. I asked for a rum and a Rose for my wife. I drank my rum and about 20 minutes later, was ready for another. I pushed my glass towards the bar, as one does when you want another, and our bartender, another bartender and the owner/manager walked past that empty glass about 8-10 times without any acknowledgment that we were sat there. The whole vibe in Kinsale seems to be annoyance at the tourists. And it was clearly on display here. I would suggest going somewhere where you are welcomed. We are the ones that fees that economy.
