For about 22 euros, my friend and I got the fried fish fillet & chips along with a cup of corn chowder & open face smoked salmon sandwich. The fried fish was HUGE and super filling. We stopped in for lunch while exploring Waterford. It is located in the Viking Triangle and we were very hungry after our visit to the museum. We were invited to sit anywhere we like as we were greeted when we arrived. I've never had Seafood Pie so when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to try it. I was thinking the seafood must be amazing since this place is close to the ocean. I was right because it was delicious. The seafood was fresh with a wine and cream sauce topped with a potato cheese crust. I highly recommend it. It was served with a side of chips. It was a filling lunch to finish our sightseeing adventures. This bar was very comfortable with all tables, chairs, and even a couch or two. We sat in the front by a window and it was quiet and cozy. The decor is nice and the place has a good pub feel. Great place to stop in for a bite to eat after your Waterford tour! The Guiness Pie is yummy!

We had an excellent dinner here of pan-fried hake, local sausages with colcannon, a pavlova of fresh local strawberries, and two kinds of Irish whiskey. The service was excellent throughout, but we were particularly surprised by her knowledge of their fine selection of Irish whiskies. In the end we selected a local Waterford whiskey and a 21-year old Redbreast (pricey, but it was Father's Day). My wife was a little nervous about hake, which was new to her, but it turned out to be one of her favorite dinners in some time. The sausages were excellent, and I was glad to finally try authentic colcannon. The location is excellent, near our Hotel Granville and very near the Waterford Crystal showroom. What a great little pub across from the Waterford Crystal museum. We were dropped off with our CIE tour at a cafeteria style place, having done a tour before we knew better than to dine at a place like this so we yelped the area and found the Munster. It was great!!! The people were very accommodating. My mom and dad are vegan so it has been a little odd traveling in Ireland with them, however I must say the Jackets ( baked potatoes) with veggie ratatouille was not only one of the best Things that we have had so far on our trip but also the veggies were cooked to perfection. Unexciting. Food isn't exactly terrible, but the meals my family and I got were not great. The fried fish tasted a bit off (not gone bad, just interesting/ low quality) and the burger was over cooked, but the chicken curry was fine. It had a wonderful crispy "tortilla" type thing on top. After checking out the Waterford crystal factory tour across the street (pretty cool but a bit pricey) we were very hungry. Luckily for us, the limited number of Yelp reviews in this area pointed us to a great restaurant. We also found a posting of a local performance of Into the Woods by some young kids in the city that turned out to be very good. I wish there were more Yelp reviews in this area, but this one should be a good safe bet if you're just looking for a good meal. read more

Excellent place to gather with friends and family. Beautiful pub that's been in the family for over 50 years! My hubby and I each had the seafood chowder, followed by fish and chip. We washed it all down with a lovely Smithwick. It was a Tuesday in November, so it wasn't crowded, but all the better for us as we got to chat with one of the owners and his cousin. We ate at the newly reopened restaurant on the back side of the bar - The Grey Friar (I think that was the name!) We came here on a whim seeing that there would be live music outside the restaurant that night. The man - I think the owner - who took our reservation was lovely and accommodating for a last minute group of 9. The service was excellent and the food was even better! It was a total surprise and honestly one of the best meals we had while traveling throughout the UK. This place is incredible! We've been in Ireland a few days now and we've eaten some excellent meals but the food, service and atmosphere here is second to none. Every meal our group ordered was wonderful. Peter, Katrina and Michael, the owners, were very welcoming and attentive.
