40 degrees on an afternoon, feeling cold and peckish. I stopped in the ally entrance of the Ginger Man in downtown Waterford. I didn't know what to expect but it looked cool from the outside and full of customers on the inside, many locals speaking Irish. We were invited in and put through the typical COVID protocols before being seated. Our orders were taken quick and I was soon to be warming up to an Irish Whisky. My dinner was simple, Hot Pot aka Irish stew with real potatoes and thick stewed beef and vegetables. Bit was awesome! I finished it with some hearty brown bread and there was nothing left but the crockery when I was done! Thank you for a great meal! Johnnie
The food and ambiance was awesome. All our food came in time and the wait staff was super friendly and attentive. We picked this place randomly on our visit to Waterford and we were not disappointed. Highly recommend the beef sandwich with chips and make sure they add the peppercorn gravy. You'll love it.
I had only been in Ireland for a couple of days before finding this one. I found many of the staff members working in the restaurants in Dublin to be very stand-offish and rude. My mom and I received looks of annoyance. Once I had gotten to Waterford, it was completely different. The staff was great. They were so nice, kept our drinks full, and continuously checked in to make sure we were doing okay. The atmosphere was great. Very clean and cozy. The menu is simple and the food is tasty!! Ps: this meal is the mini Irish breakfast
I love the Gingerman. I've went countless times and I'll continue to keep going back. Their set menu is pretty simple but the food is always fantastic. Their specials are amazing too and I always find it so hard to pick. What really keeps me coming back is the staff, who are some of nicest people. No matter when I've went, I've always gotten the best service here, and it's clear that the staff are just genuinely lovely people.
I came here with my sister for an early dinner (5pm) from a recommendation from the staff of the hotel we were staying at. They recommended the baked potato, the chicken something (started with a c, and is essentially a chicken strip), and the peppercorn steak sandwich. We opted for the baked potato with the meat chili sauce and the steak sandwich. Y'all, the portions are huge (two people can share one dish) and the peppercorn sauce for the sandwich was INCREDIBLE. My sister and I used the sauce to dip our fries in. The chili baked potato was also excellent. It has a nice kick to it, so if you don't like heat in your food, then skip this dish. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic. We asked two waitresses for advice on places to visit, and they were helpful and gave us great answers to our questions, and gave us recommendations based on what we were interested in seeing. One of the best placed I've eaten in Ireland. The fish and chips was in point, but my companions had the specials (not pictured) and the dishes were simply amazing. So glad we got a recommendation to come here. The Bartender (Simon?) could not have been nicer. He had suggestion where to go and what drive to take to get the best views (copper coast!). I would definitely be back if/when I have a chance. Beer is also delicious :) read more

Our group ordered the All Day Breakfast and Tuna Melt. The food portions were generous, the employees friendly, and the service was quick. Great pub and quick place to get lunch. read more

Great service, and cozy atmosphere. Food was really wonderful and came out of the kitchen piping hot and fresh. We were at table reserved for a larger group within the hour but they didn't make us feel rushed at all! In the shopping area too so convenient location while we were touring around the area. Definitely recommended. read more
