The restaurant itself is styled beautifully, not what you'd expect in a suburban shopping center. We opted for the Brussels and the short rib grilled cheese. Both were great. The Brussels were sliced, the balsamic glaze was really great. The short rib came on sourdough and I had low expectations: usually short rib on sandwiches (in my experience) is either dry or soaks through the bread, this sandwich was perfect! The short rib was really tender and flavorful, the bread was toasted but still soft. Perhaps the unsung hero of the meal were the fries and the malt vinegar aioli! The fries were incredible and the accompanying aioli was perfectly tangy, we couldn't stop eating them in spite of being full. Overall we were really pleased with our meal! We will be back to try more of the menu.

The event was a huge success, largely due to Andre, our server. He kept track of fifteen separate orders for food and drinks, and he kept our glasses full while being so pleasant. We request separate checks, which can be a hassle at times for restaurants, but it was all done smoothly. For their lunches, they chose the Crab Toast, which was an open-faced sub roll topped with imperial sauce, lump crab, and cheddar jack cheese and a Shrimp Salad on multigrain bread with Cole slaw. They also ordered an order of Sweet Potato Fries with melted butter and cinnamon sugar on the side. This was such an interesting combination, which he really likes. My husband and I decided to try the Shrimp Salad with no bread. He had his with tomato and onion rings and I had mine with lettuce, tomato and Sweet Potato Fries. The shrimp salad was a generous portion that was perfectly seasoned. They serve their drinks in small pitchers. To finish, we had the Lemon Cheesecake and Aunt Louise dessert which was a Smith Island Cake that was beyond decadent - it was a chocolate peanut butter cake. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunches.

We were seated immediately once we checked in. The brunch buffet was on its last leg ( we arrived at 12:30) so we opted to just order off the regular menu. The menu has a lot of great choices. We started with the rockfish tenders and the brodkin egg rolls, both were delicious. I was especially fond of the rockfish tenders, they were seasoned and fried perfectly. I ordered a side salad, it was huge. I ended up boxing because I would not have been able to try my main dish if I had eaten that salad. For our main entrees we went with the Shrimp Scampi and the Blackend Chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo was just the way I like it, creamy not oily (oily does not reheat well). My mother said the scampi could use some cheese. The portions sizes were on point and the prices are very reasonable. The only issue I had was with our service. There was a big confusion on who was supposed to be waiting on the table. Once that was settled it just took forever for the server to comeback. I had to get up a few times to get my own stuff; plates and silverware. It was busy so I'm going to give the service the benefit of the doubt. I made reservations to try the brunch buffet later so we'll see if there is any difference on a non holiday. Rumor Reel is a huge place with plenty of space for large parties. I started with the cream of crab soup. The portion was solid and there were huge chunks of crab throughout, which I definitely appreciated. However, the base itself just wasn't to my liking. The crab was there, but the flavor profile didn't quite hit for me. For my entrée, I ordered the oyster platter with two sides -- regular fries and coleslaw -- and added a shrimp basket because when you're at a seafood spot, you might as well go all in. The meal definitely satisfied my hunger, but if I'm being honest, it tasted more boxed and frozen than freshly battered. That homemade, crispy, just-dropped-in-the-fryer feel wasn't quite there. On the bright side, the fries were good -- hot, crisp, and dependable. The coleslaw was exactly how I like it: balanced, not too sweet, not too heavy on the mayo. Where they truly shine is customer service. The staff was accommodating, friendly, and very helpful throughout the visit. Our local neighborhood restaurant just went from one of our faves to probably number two (just behind The Garten). The welcoming and friendly service is truly exceptional. The general manager is focused and attentive, and clearly his leadership has infected his staff with superior service performance and exceptional food quality. The bartenders are great and the atmosphere is always fun and lively. The Thursday half-price bottles of wine is always a wonderful treat too!
