Blackwood Pantry Cronulla has long been one of those Insta worthy cafes that not only looks good,…read morebut tastes it too. The cafe can be found on a side street, Surf Ln laneway and you be dining with relaxed beach goers, families doing brunch and those with their pooch companions. There's plenty of seating there for small and larger groups. The venue is bright and open and you'll feel comfortable. The menu is certainly broad and you'll find your favourites like a bacon and egg roll, but also plenty of unique dishes too. We loved the truffled chilli scrambled eggs, served on toasted sourdough with mushy peas, lemon whipped goats cheese, cucumber, mint, crispy shallots & truffled chilli sauce. A really decent sized serving too. For the Avo on toast dish, we opted for the gluten free bread w/ zaatar, lemon olive oil, Meredith goats cheese, pickled beetroot & fresh mint. Another great dish was green goddess salad made with cos lettuce, smashed pea hummus, whipped goat cheese, green capsicum, olives, cucumber, sprouted beans & lentils, fresh basil, toasted pumpkin seeds & za'atar and the green goddess dressing. I wanted some protein and the waitress recommended I add the Sarah's Day skewers as they're nicely marinated. Good suggestion, for my already great salad had that extra flavour burst. For drinks, there's beers, wine, cocktails, smoothies and of course coffee. We enjoyed our experience and look forward to trying the Bondi store too.

With all the prohibition era styled pubs popping up around the city, The Blind Bear was long…read moreoverdue in the Shire. I love how this place does drinks - there's four taps of rotating craft beer/cider, and once they're out they tap a new flavour. They ran out of 2 beers while we were there, and a new keg was quickly tapped each time. They have cardboard signs serving as labels - an easy way to keep the signage current - and at $8-9/pint, its a great way to try different beers without damaging your wallet. For wine they only offer 1 red and 1 white each night, and those change daily. The cocktails are made with care, with a good selection of classics (martini, Manhattan) and some fruity modern conceptions as well. Food was quite good, despite some of the portions being small. The cheesesteak for $16 could easily be consumed in a few bites. The pulled pork for $16 was delicious, served between two toasted pieces of delicious bread (not the "hoagie" I was expecting, but some of the best pulled pork I've had in Australia), and a better serve than the cheesesteak. The sliders were, again, on the small side. At $4/each or 4 for $15, you'd need 4 to make a meal. I found the chicken sliders a bit bland, possibly being overpowered by the potatoes in the garlic mash. The beef sliders were much better, with a delicious pickle relish. Of course, I had to grab the wings (6 for $9 or 12 for $16) which were one of the standouts for the night. A bit sweet at first, they pack a bit of a punch with a heat that builds. The three chip options (chilli cheese fries, sweet potato wedges, and steak fries with chipotle mayo) were all pretty good. Rumour (or rather, Facebook) has it that this place does $0.50 wings and $5 hot dogs on Wednesdays - definitely worth checking out. Come early if you want a table - we managed to grab one of the last of them at 6 pm on a Saturday, and didn't see much turnover during our 3 hour stay.

Chama Brazilian Bbq in Caringbah offers a $39 all you can eat barbecued meats, salads, fries,…read morevegetables and antipasto dishes. Although it's called a buffet, you don't even have to get out of your seat, the staff actually come around and offer you different dishes until you're full! We practically tried every dish on the menu from the range of beef on offer and we really liked the scotch fillet and balsamic beef kebab, but there are more than 5 variations of flavours. Meats are cooked whilst rotating over coals. This cooking method enables the meat to be tender, succulent and take on a nice charred flavour. The chicken was extremely succulent and in particular the lemon pepper and the honey soy fillets were superb. For the adventurous folk amongst us, chicken hearts are on offer! The pork belly was also a standout, and the crackling was as crunchy and salty as we like it. The meat comes sliced on platters and the staff serve you as much as you like. Some of the meat comes out on the traditional bbq skewers, cooked over the wood fired bbq and they carve it to your plate at the table. There's plenty of sides on offer and the Brazilian cheese bread/cheese puff is definitely at the top of that list. There's so much to choose from; fries, oven baked veg, bean salad, coleslaw, rocket and Parmesan salad, haloumi cheese, black beans and more! You are served a few sauces like Chama Churro, vinaigrette, green chilli and Parmesan, though you don't really need it with such nicely seasoned meat. We were told early to save space for dessert, and we were lucky we did because they have some lovely bbq pineapple and fried bananas (fritters) with cinnamon. Long bench seats and stools, the decor is casual. The staff have a lot of personality and really made us feel welcome. They do well at accomodating groups, the venue is ideal for any occasion including birthday celebrations, bucks night etc. A few were doing this when we were there.

The meat was cooked perfectly, the rump steak was absolutely fantastic which melted right in our mouths. We definitely had at least 10 servings of this during our diner! We also had a huge variety of food including the Rocket and Parma, Chicken sausage, Pepper beef, Chorizo, Cheese bread, Honey soy chicken, Halloumi and Lamb. The Grilled pineapple, sweet juicy and coated with cinnamon to add that extra flavour to seal the deal. The fried banana is a must! The crispy fried batter on the outside with the soft sweet banana wrapped inside. It was just the perfect way to end the feast.

Mint Organics is located at Cronulla on Nicholson Parade opposite Gunnamatta Park…read more Plenty of parking over the road, & you'll find it perched on the corner, & waiting for you to pop in for a coffee or a bite to eat. A friend & I popped in here for a quick bite of breakfast after an early morning of exercise at Bass & Flinders Point. There was plenty to choose from on the menu, making the decision a little difficult. However we'd both been drawn to the specials board we spotted on the way in & opted to try the halloumi & chorizo stack on sourdough with Avo, rocket. It was one slice of sourdough packed & stacked with plenty of flavour & good value for $9.50. It satisfied my hunger & I'd happily have it again. The coffee's & other treats in the cabinet looked great & worth popping in to try or meet friends for a coffee. they had banana scones on the counter for tasting & I had a sample & would happily eat a whole one :-) There is also a small grocery section of organic products to purchase. If you're in the area & looking for a healthy option for lunch to meer friends I wouldn't pass by MINT, it's worth popping in & enjoying the warm, friendly atmosphere.

The strategically placed sign on the corner promising 'Haloumi & Chorizo' lured me in with the enthusiasm of a kid hyped up on candy at Disneyland. An Aladdin's Cave of health food, this place has charm & enchantment packed to the gills. Taking a seat overlooking Gunnamatta Park, we both order the above mentioned 'Haloumi/Chorizo Stack', a special served on sourdough with avocado, roast capsicum, rocket & aioli. With a great range of smoothies & juices, as well as the temptation of coffee, I probably should have made more of an attempt to explore the menu, instead settling on water. Suffice it to say, the Haloumi/Chorizo Stack was extremely tasty. While a little heavy handed on the aioli, it was still thoroughly enjoyable. In hindsight, I probably should have chosen something a little more conducive to my morning run, but them's small hairs to split when talking about chorizo right? RIGHT?! A great little find here at Mint, undoubtedly I'll return in an effort to explore more of the menu.
