I was on a nice walk from Bondi to Bronte. The walk is 5 stars BTW, stunning views and lovely to people watch! Half way through the walk, decided we were hungry and made a stop here. We opted to sit outside which in hindsight was not the best idea, the street was fairly busy and the buses came often and were LOUD. The food and cocktails were pretty good. The Negroni hit the spot. The Kingfish ceviche was excellent. I ended up ordering the Dal and Roti dish which was ironic since we were right across the street from an Indian restaurant. However, it was surprisingly delicious. The chocolate dessert was meh. Service was slow and there were moments where we were left wondering if they forgot that we were outside. Overall, I would recommend it but sit inside. read more

Enjoyed a delicious breakfast this morning in Bronte. The staff are very friendly and kind, we were warmly greeted and seated promptly. There is an option for indoor and outdoor seating which I loved. The menu isn't huge but has good variety, we highly enjoyed both meals and drinks. Personally I really appreciated the great selection of teas! As a non-coffee drinker it's always great to taste a blend that isn't just green, jasmine or peppermint. Overall this is a quality cafe that I'd highly recommend visiting! I could see this spot being very busy on the weekends though. Thanks for the relaxing morning! read more

4/5 Take a chance and wait in line for more than a simple cafe meal. A quick wait both in line and once ordered a full proper plate comes out. When I mean full plate, either you will finish it and not want to eat more, or even one plate to share. That big! Everything on the breakfast menu looks and sounds amazing. Having the Scrambled Eggs with Black Sausage was just the energy needed with matching toppings (red current standing out). Good mix of spices and sweetness is lasting flavours long after downed. But I just had to have a taste of other plates too. Of course the finishing taste had to be finished with a double espresso to my surprise was quite hard hitting. These TBD guys certainly know what their doing. Waiting for my espresso, the chef was going crazy. With the amount of customers to be served and a single person cooking it was certainly a sight to see him work. To get all those dishes excellent is a master at work. That was my brunch then off for a walk for Sculpture By The Sea. Hours spent in the sun. A good day. Afternoon came with hunger again. We had to go back to Three Blue Ducks. This was totally agreed upon without argue. Lunch menu this time. The beetroot & haloumi salad was again excellent with the addition of the multitude of toppings. So big again that easily fed two people. Your looking at extremely great value for money with a beautifully serviced cafe. A staff that work well under the extreme pressure of a full seated no reservation cafe. They know what their doing and know when questioned. They also grow their own produce as well. Quite disappointing - Been there for lunch, the menu is not impressive and quite pricey. I ordered the special - slow cooked pork with braised fennel...it was quite blend despite the amount of fresh herbs. Too dry overall. Our mission was to find somewhere to eat within walking distance to Waverley Cemetery...probably not everyone's mission. This place is flanked by one restaurant that is being renovated and another that seems to have salads and limited seating. It was packed so they must be doing something right. We were here relatively late for lunch at 1:30pm but lunch is advertised until 3:00pm. We were offered a table in the street so we took it but then the waitress came back after a while and said that a table had become free inside. No problem. There are two rooms. One room is apparently better for a group. We were in the other watching the cooks and barista work tirelessly. The waitresses didn't stop either and they were more than helpful with the menu and seating people from outside to indoors as tables became free. The lunch menu is divided into big and small. You can download and look at the menu from the website. This will also give you an idea of the prices. Small included oysters sold singly..you can't get much smaller than that. The big are a good size with a price to match; not much change out of $30 for most. We both had the chicken curry and were not disappointed. It had a whole lot of different sweet, hot flavours (and I thought I tasted blue vein cheese as well). We finished with coffee that was also good. read more

Three Blue Ducks has got an incredible reputation online making a lot of Sydney's must visit lists yet the last few reviews I read on here had me questioning was it worth it's hype. The venue gets incredibly busy on the weekends apparently so I decided to go visit midweek when I was lucky enough to have a free day from work. Surprisingly it was still pretty busy considering it was 8am on a Wednesday. I did get a seat straight away though. The venue is a lot bigger then I imagined with two separate rooms inside and seating outside. The cafe has a nice vibe with an alley through the middle which is covered in stylish graffiti that leads to bathrooms as well as a chicken coop if your interested to see where your eggs are coming from. The menu is definitely a lot more expensive then most Sydney Cafe's. Everything substantial on the breakfast menu costs over $22 which is definitely high. I decided to order the Golden Chai to start with which is Chai Latte prepared with Turmeric and almond milk. It's got a unique yellow flavour and the taste is pretty good and Turmeric is perfect for joint health and this is a good option for gym junkies. Breakfast choices are good and I went for the Kedgeree. It was boiled curried hard rice served with nuts, apricots and boiled egg. The dish was beautiful and came dolloped with yogurt on the side. It was a unique spin on breakfast. It was presented rather aesthetically as well. Three Blue Ducks isn't somewhere you would make as a regular breakfast spot I don't think but I did enjoy it. Perhaps if I was to go back it would be to enjoy the lunch menu. Definitely overpriced but that's what happens when you got a reputation and clearly the people still want what's on offer because it's getting people in the door. read more

Am up from Melbourne and TBD is my go-to place for excellent coffee when visiting the sister in Bronte ( even if they don't know that a "barista" coffee is a ¾ latte on a double ristretto). We had an outstanding meal here. Well worth the arduous walk up from the beach. I had their pulled, slow cooked lamb in Mediterranean herbs. Just the perfect amount of mint, corriander and spices. We had to wait around 20 minutes for our table (would have been shorter if it weren't for an arrogant couple that thought they could take the first table they saw), but it was worth it. Word of advice- get here early on the weekend if you don't want to wait a long time! Eh, they've got some interesting additions to your standard breakfast menu with their flaked smoked salmon dish or carrot and ginger porridge, but it's hard to dress up the fact that it's still a breakfast menu. Three Blue Ducks tries to get around this by being pretentious (modifications to the menu are "respectfully declined"), having slow service and charging ridiculous amounts- no matter what way you slice it, breakfast just isn't a fine dining opportunity. One piece of sourdough, two eggs and an avocado will set you back $19 which feels a bit like highway robbery to me, especially as there's no skill involved in putting together a basic dish like that. Perhaps the $24 price tag is justified for their baked eggs or smoked salmon and dukkah dish - others in the group had these and said they were good, but not out of this world. I was disappointed as I'd heard great things about this place, but maybe it's more of a dinner place and that's where they shine. I'd skip it for breakfast for sure. read more

It's in my area. Have been a few times. I follow them on IG. I like their idea. But there is just too much attitude which is quite obviously as I pick up on the energy. Not a fan. I was surprised to see the reviews on Yelp for TBD because quite honestly, it's a pretty amazing restaurant. We are visiting from San Francisco and have had several of our friends (none of which are affiliated with each other) tell us prior to our vacation that we have to head to Bronte just to eat here. Luckily, we got an Airbnb just a few blocks away so we've been indulging by starting every day at TBD. We actually had breakfast AND lunch at the restaurant today. We've been lucky to stay here mid-week and off-season, so there hasn't been a wait for a table. Food is seasonal, fresh, and tasty. We haven't had a bad dish and our 18 month old son finishes his ENTIRE kids scramble and toast, PLUS eats some of our food. Each time we've visited, the staff has been nothing but friendly. We've had our share of run ins with snooty waitstaff (hello LA and SF!) and I can't imagine getting any kind of poor service here. It can be especially dicey having a toddler in tow, but they've been nothing but accommodating and wonderful. If TBD were in San Francisco, they'd have lines up to several hours, and I'd still say it's probably worth the wait. I'm already dreaming of the brekkie bowl I'll be ordering up tomorrow! read more

We had heard good things about this restaurant in Bryon Bay but it was closed the day we visited. We were pleased when we discovered we were within walking distance while searching for a place in sydney a few days later. It was worth a second effort. We tried the potato wedges, the swordfish, the ravioli and the sticky chicken. All were top notch. Service was great too. Highly recommend. read more

Lunch: Ordered the halumi and beetroot salad, and a steak sandwich. The quality of the produce was pretty good and the beetroot purée was great, but the overall dish was too sweet given the amount of whole beetroot pieces was on the plate as well, the spinach leaves ended up drowned, with the salty halumi the only ything able to cut through. The steak sandwich also suffered from over sweetness due to the amount of a (very delicious) onion relish again overpowering the very thin and to my mind over cooked steak. The table next to us ordered the pork belly and the mussels and reported it delicious, so maybe we just ordered badly? read more

I had a great experience during my first brunch visit to Three Blue Ducks. Word is that the head chef here is an ex-Tetsuya's employee, while co-owner Sam (known in the area for his former fruit and veg box delivery service - ever seen the Sam the Fruitman van?) is a super friendly maitre d' slash waiter. Accordingly, they use their well-established producer connections to source as much locally grown food as possible, then turned into delicious café fare. Their coffee, made using Single Origin beans, is well-prepared while my poached eggs were perfectly cooked - runny yolks in the middle and not a smidgen of watery white bits inside. Our waiter was attentive throughout our meal and didn't seem to mind that we hung around for a while after finishing eating despite the high demand for tables. This place has definitely been a breath of fresh air on MacPherson Street where other cafés aren't that tempting. read more

Better known for breakfast (it was awarded the Best Breakfast in Sydney in the Good Café Guide), the café is now open for dinner Thursday-Saturday. The first available booking was three weeks out and we had to be there at kiddies' hour of 6:15, and out by the time the adults arrived at 8.30pm to take their seats at the big table. I took it. Lucky I did, as it was the only table available for another month. Now, in case you think I'm a slavish follower of restaurant reviews, the clincher in Durack's review was thus: "I might as well say it up front: for three nights a week, you can eat as well in this cool little cafe as anywhere in Sydney. For $17 a course, for food cooked by former chefs from Tetsuya's. I think I now have your attention." He certainly had my attention. The café's on the main drag on Macpherson Street, a short stroll to the beach but far away enough not to have views (except of the main road and the bus stop sign) and looks like a rather funky café rather than a bastion of fine dining. Murals line the walls, the tables are wooden, the waiters dressed in shorts and t'shirts. This fits in with the story of the Three Blue Ducks, started by Bronte locals and keen surfers Sam and Chris. It was while he was running a hostel for surfers in Morocco that Chris met Mark, who had trained at Tetsuya's and other first class restaurants. The produce is sourced from local suppliers from in and around Sydney where possible, to help reduce the impact of transport. And the preference is for organic. The bread comes from Iggy's, which is four doors down the street. There are 15 dishes to choose from, each costing $17. The menu starts with oysters and ends with cheese and crackers. oysters kingfish ceviche calamari and smoked corn pot of pork and pickled veg lobster and soft polenta mushrooms and grains mussels, clams and beach spinach egg, blood cake, apples and beets mackeral, tomato and eggplant carrots, pumpkin and nettles pressed pork shoulder beef, burnt onion and mustard seeds strawberries, sea salt meringue and passionfruit chocolate and fennel cheese and crackers We chose seven dishes, which came out two at a time, with the exception of the egg, blood cake, apples and beets, which Bondi Curmudgeon had for his dessert. We started with the calamari and the pot of pork with pickled vegetables, which came out as a terrine on soft, crusty bread. The mussels, clams and beach spinach make no mention of the amazing coconut sprinkled on top and the coconut sauce - this was the standout dish for me. Apparently it is a family recipe handed down and adapted. The mushrooms and grains and the mackerel, tomato and eggplant rounded out the meal. This topped with a bottle of wine, a glass of dessert wine and a couple more glasses took the bill to $200. Quite a lot for a café, but reasonable for what we had and we left raving about the flavours, the freshness of the food and the subtle experimentation. It's worth getting in line and waiting your turn. read more

I went there for the brunch. It was really good. The choice is rather limited but all the dishes we tasted were very good. Especially the salmon. Lots of different tastes in the same plate. My only regret is that the brunch stops at 11:30 and you can't have poached eggs, etc after that time. Service : 10/10!! I will certainly go back! read more

Excellent food in a comfortably bustling atmosphere. A pleasant departure from the general lack of passion I had observed in the working people in Sydney, everyone at Three Blue Ducks was very friendly and genuine, and appeared to actually enjoy doing what they were doing, which naturally translated to a warm and delightful service for the restaurant patrons. We were a tad too early for lunch when we sat down, but the brunch was nonetheless more than enough to satisfy our savory senses. The food was semi-rustic, but the flavors were very well balanced, everything was on point. I would definitely come back for lunch or dinner when I have the opportunity. The nice little vegetable garden with live chicken at the back of the restaurant completed the fulfilling experience at Three Blue Ducks. read more

Very busy Saturday during Sculpture by the Sea, about 2 pm, and Three Blue Ducks was crowded and noisy. The kitchen did a fabulous job with our two daily specials, Crispy Skin Barramundi and slow roasted Lamb. Competent and attentive service. We came for lunch, we're seated by the lovely window. We ordered corn fritters and the sticky chicken. Corn fritters were yummy, but perhaps a tad undercooked in the centre which may deter some people. Chicken had good flavour, but was left wanting for a little more sauce. The drinks we had were great, chocolate dark Cherry and coconut, and the house made citrus soda were a great refresher midpoint along our coastal walk. read more

The choice and quality is sublime.... just try the Salmon and poached eggs for breakfast and you'll see what I mean. We were in Bronte for 5 weeks and had several lovely meals at Three Blue Ducks! Their baristas were the ones who taught me how to order coffee in Australia on our first day here. Many thanks! I had my first long black here. They use Iggy's bread (the bakery a few store fronts down the road), which is divine, but the sourdough is rather hard on the mouth when toasted. The house smoked salmon is amazing! I highly recommend adding it to any brekky meal! We also stopped in (unknowingly) for Mexican night one Thursday evening. Having lived in the US right near the Mexican border for many years, we found the food very tasty if you think of it as an Aussie take on Mexican food...not necessarily as "Mexican food." read more

Have been here as a regular place for brunches, was semi-regular and now intermittent... over the years, the attitude of staff has changed unfortunately. Ok food but not worth waiting at the door for 25 minutes to have staff tell us kitchen is now closed for breakfast, will be another 15 minutes to be seated and 30 minutes for menu change, 20 mins for food to be prepared... about 90 mins to eat? Several others in the queue walked off... Not a good look. Maybe it was an off day and understaffed. Suggest a host at the front door to keep patrons informed, especially in the last 30 minutes before menu change. read more

There are good components one each dish that was well thought and played out, however nothing was wow or fantastic. It was straight forward modern Australian that used fresh produce and restrained cooking that had a good balance (which I appreciate a lot as nothing was too over the top fancy or too salty). Fab service and a fantastic beer (boutique locals) and wine list. Great vibe to have a night out with friends. Food wise there are better places. read more
