a breakfast sandwich on a piece of paper

Cutest & most delicious little cafe in all of the Eau Claire area! I ordered an americano hot and got two baked goods on the side for breakfast: a hash egg bake with cheese & a croissant! Most definitely baked with love. The employees are all friendly & the place was packed!!

I sought this place out because they were reputed to have the best pastries around, plus my husband needs good coffee to jump start his day. We parked in the small lot behind the old building. Inside we found a cozy environment made cozier by the torrential downpour that started outdoors as we entered. There are so many delicious-looking things that it made it hard to choose what to get! We went for a dulce de leche tart (a special this week), a chocolate croissant, and a knotted cinnamon bun; the latter two are visible in my picture. The tart, unfortunately, wasn't set, and became an ooey gooey mess to eat, though the flavor was great. The pastries were delectable with oodles of layers and a beautiful butter flavor. My husband liked his coffee just fine, too.

My first time at Nostalgic Bean I had a great experience. I had an issue with my gift card, and the owner went out of their way to help me- a gesture that really stood out and reminds you why supporting locally owned coffee shops is so special compared to big chains. The owner and staff were incredibly kind. The quiche was great and my matcha latte was perfect. I'll definitely be back!

Wow! Just wow! If you haven't been to this place stop reading and go now! NOW! This place is amazing! Homemade flakey, buttery croissants! What else do you need! For being in Altoona this is a hidden little gem! The atmosphere is really friendly as well as a welcome feeling. Out of everything to chose from and trust me you have quite a bit to pick from, I got two croissants. One with chocolate filled and the other had ham and cheese. When I tell you that first bit was amazing so flaky and sweet buttery flavor and then you hit the chocolate and wow! The ham and cheese croissant was hands down mind blowing! The cup of coffee I got with all this amazing food was something straight out of grandma's kitchen! 10/10 I will be going back!

A little difficult to find but well worth it. We had a couple of the quiches and they were both delicious. Highly recommend.

The food is delicious and we look forward to making this our new stop off while traveling north. Also, when leaving the restaurant you can go over the bridge and get gas at Woodmans-cheap. My husband kept raving about his Asian chicken salad. I ordered a cup of lentil soup which was more of a bowl for me and it was flavorful. I had tabouli which was not what I was expecting. I was expecting more of a grain mixture with herbs but what I got was basically a bowl of chipped parsley sprinkled with a grain. But, it was tasty. I don't know if I would order again unless I was really cutting calories...lol. I took a dessert to go. It was a custard/coconut type and I loved it! They advertised hand pressed lemonade on their specials board but when I went to order I was told that they didn't have any. Also, on the menu when I ordered my tabouli, on the menu it stated it came with flat bread. I went back to the counter to inquire about the flatbread I was told no, it doesn't come with the tabouli. I pointed it out on the menu and she proceeded to cross it off telling me it shouldn't be there. These two little things that happened were a turn off but not enough to stop me from going back. But if there are more of these types of bad customer service happenings I will exit and not return.

A cozy end to a fantastic vacation…read more Tim described Racy D'lenes as what coffeehouses were like before they exploded everywhere. What he would consider to be a true coffeehouse. This got me excited as I do like a genuine cozy coffeehouse that does it's own thing and Racy was just that. We rolled in around 9am to get coffee and enjoy the quietness before Matt and I drove home. The sky was overcast with the constant threat of rain. The inside of Racy was nice and cozy. I got my americano, a giant chocolate chip cookie and a funny sticker for my final Eau Claire experience. Tim and Matt both got the Cadbury Egg latte. The place was a bit busy so we ended up sitting on this couch. We weren't crammed in there but 3 grown males put it to the test. I kid you not, this americano and cookie may have been the best thing I had during this whole trip. I know I'm easily excitable and tend to give high praise for most things but those two things were legit delicious. The cookie was so good that it made me wish I got a hot coffee just to dunk it in as that sounded divine. Both Matt and Tim said their latte were amazing and tasted just like a Cadbury egg. As we sat there and made small talk and went over the fun of the last few days, I couldn't help but look around and notice all the little things strewn about the place. There was a tank with a live turtle in it. There was a skeleton handing from the skeleton talking to someone (I couldn't see where the line went) via a can and string. The walls were painted or had stuff hanging up. This place must've been here for a long time now. Speaking of the cozy feeling, if this place had a fireplace, I would've fallen asleep so easily. I was already nodding off due to the weather and being perfectly content and settled in, it wouldn't have taken much more to slip off into a light snooze. Now that would've been a first for me, falling asleep in a coffeehouse... but if you've been here on a rainy day, you would understand. Eventually we made our way outside and were doing the midwestern goodbye when it started to sprinkle. That put a little pep in our step to get back to our cars and say goodbye to Eau Claire. Two things to keep in mind for visiting here is that its on the backside of The Nucleus and that since it's on the backside of a building, parking is very limited and you may need to park on the street if it's busy. Racy D'lenes... I will definitely be back.

They have tables available and also couches/chairs for a more comfortable experience! There are some parking spots available in the back or street parking is an option. They also allow you to use reusable mugs, so feel free to bring them if you're getting a drink to go! Edited review based on business response: Based off of the Visit Eau Claire website for dog friendly places, I previously understood that Racy's was dog friendly. It indicated, "Racy D'lene's Coffee Lounge - You and the pup can enjoy a laid-back morning or afternoon at Racy's together. Their coffee and sandwiches and pastries will be a real treat for both you and your trusty four-legged sidekick." It appears that is not accurate and dogs are not allowed inside the building. When I got to the counter the girl taking the order just stared at me blankly... which felt extremely awkward. So I spoke and stated what I wanted. To which her response was an empty, "ok" or "yep" as I went through my order. I sat down and waited on my order. Plenty of spaces to sit so that was a plus. My coffee order was a ln iced lavender latter with regular milk and an extra shot. It tasted bland like water, yet burnt at the same time. Did not enjoy. Also my drink was warm and the ice melted before I left the store. disappointed to say the least. Spicy hog sandwich was great. I will give them points where it is due. The sandwich was perfect and what I was hoping for. But again, the service from the girl that dropped it off at the table really needs to work on her energy because it was not pleasant to interact with even for the split second she came to drop off my food. I was thanked on the way out. I appreciated that! Note this was from the other girl behind the counter that was making the drinks and had some life to her.
