11/10 visit today! I came in with some friends for my birthday and it was a really great experience! Great selection and variety in brands and price ranges but the staff was truly outstanding. Kind, knowledgeable, helpful. Suggestions and support but not at all pushy. Super welcoming! Will definitely come back!

    The pilling on the sleeve

Absolutely love this store and location-staff is lovely and nice. I don't like to talk $ but i spent around $160 for an incredible powder blue shirt and it started pilling within an hour of wearing. I also bought a $500 vegan blue bag, it's been incredible and the color is so stunning, i just wish the clothing held up better-I'm very disappointed because i loved the shirt so much

GO HERE IF YOU LIKE TO SMELL GOOD. If you don't, fix your hygiene first, then come here and you'll love it (but don't stay too long, because if you're like me, I got nauseous after an hour spraying 30 scents like you will!). Let me start by saying that this is the first review I've written since I was 10. Literally. I never use yelp besides when my mom tell me to check in for free food . Anyways, I'm from Hawaii in town at Dallas for a week, so I come to check out West Village for it's reviews of being an upscale community (literal community) with great places to get food and great places to shop at -- Rye 51 or Q Clothier is also amazing check them out. Needless to say, I never really visit niche, high end boutiques a la pedigree of The Scent Room. Of course we have them back home, I just don't care to go to em nor have the money for them. That is to say that The Scent Room though was unlike any shopping experience I've had before. I walked in and was greeted by a gentlemen who works part time at the Scent Room named Chris. His demeanor matched the atmosphere of the shop -- inviting, enticing, elegant, provident, prudent, precise where needed, while conciliatory and open-minded elsewhere, and finally, priceless. The experience Chris and Francesca provided for was unparalleled in my few and humbled experiences. Chris allowed me to speak my mind on the scents he chose, while offering only honest and sincere information and feedback which allowed us to narrow down the sorts of fragrances I'd like. And these guys have it all. A whole lot. I only had experience with strip malls and a few high end fashion places, which has provided me with a few comforting frags such as Sauvage, Eros, and Jimmy Choo man Intense. I know, not a huge collection, but a whole lot for a young buck like me. Literally though, Chris let me spray whatever I wanted. I must've sprayed 50 bottles during my 2 something hour visit. It was heaven. I was in scent heaven. Everything from fougeres to to gourmands, from Kush scents to yuzu scents. They had a whole lot of stuff. The breadth of knowledge combined with the staffs frankness and open acknowledgment for not knowing it all made for a wonderful experience for a fragrance newbie like me. They never made me feel ashamed for not knowing things, and did not badger me for my lack of significant funds (I had only $150). Instead, they let me spray whatever I wanted. Chris refined his choices for me as I gave feedback, and I walked out the store smelling like a potpourri with the half dozen frags I sprayed on my skin. Chris told me that he learns equally as much as he gives to his customers -- that was not only apparent but such a nice mutual feeling. In the end, with the help of Francesca, we narrowed down my selection to Blue Venetian, a fragrance inspired by Aventus (I always heard such great things!) and I'm for the first day I have it on, not disappointed at all, in fact exhilarated for my extravagant purchase. Chris also let me choose whatever fragrance I wanted to get a solid 1.4 mL sample for. I chose Pegasus because of its sweet face value, and for its popularity. To conclude, the Scent Room was an experience I would recommend to anyone, regardless of age, stature, origin, creed, what have you. The people there are amazing. Thank you one last time, reader and the Scent Room. P.S Chris, check out chamorro food, kelaguen. And slurp ramen with your mouth open! Cheers and thanks for everything.

The scent room was the ultimate experience!

Despite preservationists efforts to save the store, along with the Dallas City Council itself, it appears this store's days may be numbered. While staying at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, my friend and I decided to stop by this flagship store, especially knowing it's a legendary location and currently at risk of closing. My friend was interested in buying some shoes and a purse as she lives abroad and was doing a lot of shopping (time to rack up on InCircle points) but once we walked in and realized how quiet and silent the store was, we decided to just have a coffee and then proceed to another store later. While I understand that the building has undergone architectural changes over the years, the ground floor felt underwhelming in terms of interior design. On a quiet Tuesday afternoon, the store was practically empty. We decided to grab coffee downstairs at the Expresso Bar, but the atmosphere was a bit off. A security guard in a bulletproof vest, visibly armed, stared at me for a second, which was somewhat unsettling. He moved on, but it made the space feel more tense than welcoming. We were dressed nicely--my friend had on a Chanel top, I was wearing fancy Italian loafers....so it likely wasn't about our appearance. There's nothing signature "Neiman's" or luxurious about the Expresso Bar or its presentation. Two iced lattes and a cookie served at a counter in plastic cups came to $20 with tip, which felt pricey considering the overall experience. The only other people in the bar seemed to be employees on break. I've read wonderful things about the Zodiac restaurant upstairs and wish we had time to check it out. I truly hope this iconic store stays open, but it could definitely use some fresh energy and warmth to bring it back to life. Some good energizing or soothing shopping music (even a piano) could do wonders.
