This is my favorite boutique in Dallas! Staff: always dressed cute and willing to help you. They always get you a fitting room almost immediately. They keep the store very organized. Selection: I feel like the big problem with a lot of these little boutiques is they run out of smalls quickly. I never have that problem here. Everything is cute and reasonably priced. My favorite part though is THE SALE RACK. Today I got a skirt for $10, and once I got a dress for $4! If I want to treat myself but not spend a lot. I head straight for that rack. I finally found a dress for getting hitched this month and they took $10 off due to a tiny damage in the dress. Bailey was very sweet and offered to help with my dog while I tried on each item. I cannot express how much I loathe the owner of this place. The clothes and style is beyond. But I'm so so sick of the owner. I have been harassed and abused while witnessing the employees being verbally abused. I live in the apartment above so trust me - the owner is so insanely rude to not only her customers but also her employees. I'll be checking out the jewelry next to the register and she hovers. Or she follows behind me every time I chose an item. Meanwhile - her employees offer above and beyond service while I'm shipping. Not to mention the bags she gives have no handles. Why have I not written a review about this place? I am sorry, Pitaya! Please forgive me. I heart you big time. Okay so this spot is located in the West Village, but it is quite different than the other shops. Well closer to Mei Mei's and Epic, but I lurve those places too. Pitaya is the least expensive of the two, and they carry more generic brands. Generic not necessarily meaning cheap and ugly, just not exactly Juicy Couture and Citizen For Humanity type shiz. They have better quality than Forever 21, so don't get it twisted. Racks are color coordinated which makes me very happy. I spent college working retail and my closet (on a good day) is color coordinated. Yeah, I know I'm a freak. It's just a habit. They have an array of denim to choose from although honestly i haven't tried their brands. They look cute though. On my last visit I picked up an adorable dress and a pair of sunglasses for my sis out in LA. I ALWAYS find something here. If you have two seconds to shop before that big date, come here. The clothing is cute, affordable and unique. I hate blending in with a crowd and I always find something in here that has just a hint of individuality. Along with cute dresses, jeans and sunglasses, they carry tanks, dressy tops, scarves, skirts, loads of jewelry, and other accessories. The bags are ALWAYS awesometown too. My dress? $35. This place is kind of like an over priced forever21. Cute clothes and the styles are vast. But the quality of the clothing doesn't match some of the prices. Make sure to examine the clothing before leaving the store. Some of the stitch work is not done well and doesn't hold up. The layout of the store is small but done by color coordination so its easy to find things. There is a small selection of jewelry and often times shoes. But make sure to once again examine the quality. The staff is interesting. Not very friendly and often times a bit rude. Im sorry but if you're working in retail you need to jump off your high horse and learn what the words customer service mean. You're there to do a job not stand around and talk or give me attitude because I interrupt your gossip session to ask you to unlock a dressing room. Overall this is an ok place. I have stopped in a few times but never really fallen in love with the place. Whenever I'm in a crunch to find a cute Friday or Saturday night outfit to go out in, I will go here. The store is not too big so I can find something quickly. The store is organized by color so you will most likely find the same top/skirt/dress in the other colors. They will always typically have my size and the prices are not sticker shockers. But you definitely get what you pay for. Before you buy, just examine each article of clothing carefully and determine if it's worth the price they're asking. I do agree with Stephanie C. - this is an overpriced Forever21 but because the store is much smaller, it's not so overwhelming. I'm docking this place a couple of stars because of service. The staff is not very friendly and because the place is so small, it can be awkward. It would help if they played some background music but sometimes, its just silent. There are a few times when I would walk in and they will have their toddler son running around screaming and yelling. I realize this is their son but this is a place of BUSINESS. He would run into all the clothing and as much as I absolutely love and adore ALL babies and children, we all know they are not always the cleanest. Yes... it is a back to back, double review kind of night. After being introduced to Accents, also in West Village, I dared to venture off the beaten path and across the street to a store in which i still have yet to pronounce correctly. When first testing out a store, i usually dive right in, looking at every item that graces the hanger, but i couldn't help but notice the vibe. By vibe i mean, the tense feel i get and sudden insecurity that i'm not dressed snooty or branded enough to get any attention. So i gave the clothes just about as much attention as what was paid to me, glanced at the jewelry, then peaced the heck out. The next time i found myself walking the side walk of West Village and happened to be wearing some killer shoes, i decided those modelesque, loosed mouthed, snooty nosed hipsters hadn't seen the last of me. Turns out i L-O-V-E-deed all their clothes AND jewelry (i rarely love both from the same store). First of all, they sell your basics for every body type, not just the petit skinny minis those cute boutiques usually cater to. Super long, stretchy, and soft tank tops i find myself wearing nearly daily and owning many in many colors. They've got your giant t-shirt with interesting proportions to funkify even your, "i dont even care what's on my body" days. And they're very surprisingly affordable. $8 for a tank i cannot live without? i think yes. $22 for a cute top versatile for casual evening or hot night out? again, yes. $45 for skinny jeggings that feel like pj's and look like wonderment on your body? yes yes yes! Now for jewelry, i'm always lookin for a quirky peace, not to loud but not overlook-able either. Also affordable, $8 earings, $8 little necklace, $12-$22 for a wha-bam!! I could not be happier with the things i find here other than the workers. I don't know about you, but i don't like to over hear workers bad mouth another that called in sick today. She looked me up and down then said, "Oh you must not be from around here if you think people in Dallas wear boots like that." She laughed in my face! I LOVE Pitaya. I mean, I love this place. I barely ever shop for myself, but I make a trip to Pitaya at least once a month. I actually wandered in here because I was early meeting a friend for a bite at Village Burger Bar. Previously I'd stayed away from the shops in West Village...not only are the prices ridiculous, it's just not my style. So I wandered in with a few minutes to kill and saw a some cute things I figured I couldn't afford. Then voila! I check a price tag and it's only $32 For a SUPER cute sundress. After that I was hooked. Every time I've worn something I've gotten here, I get tons of compliments. The only drawback I have to say is that a good majority of the stuff seems like it's made for stick figures. I'm 5'8 and a size 8 and I have never found a pair of pants there that doesn't make me feel like a beached whale. Even some of their skirts can be questionable at times. But the sundresses and tops are always a surefire hit every time. I travel to Chicago a lot for work and I literally have to under-pack because I know I'll come back with 5 bags' worth of stuff from H&M. And every time, I leave more and more depressed that there isn't one here. Pitaya is the closest thing--albeit on a very small scale--I feel like we have around here. Found the CUTEST pair of shorts on the sale rack but the zipper was out of alignment. The wonderful staff discounted it further and helped me fix them, even stitching them for me because I was insistent that I'd take them even though they were damaged because I never find shorts that fit me right! I originally found this spot in Denver, CO and got SOOO excited they have a location locally for me to go to. I have a slight curvy body, so I can be self conscious in trying on clothes and modeling for people infront of everybody, but the sales associate's here made me feel soo comfortable. They gave me belts and accesories to help slim down my outfits, and I loved that. I never felt pressured in purchashing anything I did not want. I am a bargain shopper, but it surprises me a few of the reviews say that they are over priced. I don't think this at all. They have cute clothes, that are affordable compared to stores in this area. My only reason of not coming here often, is because of the distance...but I want to take a trip here again ASAP! read more

When in Dallas and I need an outfit for a party, I hit Pitaya. It's almost always a home run! I love the color coordinated racks and the prices! It has the feel of a trendy boutique, but when you look at the price tags ... you are pleasantly surprised! I love it! The clothes are usually solid colors, but all cut very CUTE. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because parking is horrible. Last time, I had to walk down from the top of the covered lot, just to go. I just discovered this store yesterday. I am almost embarrassed to admit I have lived a full 21 years in this city and never gone it. I always drove by because I was SO SURE the adorable clothes they had in the window were well above a hundred dollars. I only went in yesterday because my friend dragged me but boy am I glad I did! I found an adorable cupcakeish jersey dress for $34. I love love love this dress. I would give this store 5 stars if they had a better return policy. My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this store when waiting for a table at a restaurant in West Village. When we walked in both girls working said hello to us and were really nice and helpful. As soon as my girlfriend picked something up to try on someone came over and put it in a fitting room for her. My girlfriend never had to hold clothes in one hand while trying to look with the other. She loved the attention and it made her very happy. The staff also made sure I was comfortable and provided me with magazines so that I was entertained as my girlfriend tried on clothes. I LOVE PITAYA and always get a ton of compliments when I wear items from the store. They have great customer service and even their online merchandise (if its not available in the store) is excellent! They never too many items and constantly refresh their inventory selections so you don't have to worry about seeing your twin everywhere. I'd be remiss not to mention how affordable they are too. Love this place! I can always count on it if I'm in need of a super cute dress or top. They have a nice selection of both and very trendy, unique items- which I love. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because it is exchange only- no money back on returns which is a con to me. I like to know that I have the freedom to get money back if I change my mind. I was drawn into the store in January, 2010 by a dress in the window that resembled a $500 dress N-M featured online the previous June that sold out before I could buy it. The store had it in a size 0 in both primrose and navy. I bought both, after talking with the sales associates, explaining the dresses were going to our daughter-in-law in PA, and being told that if I returned one or both I would receive store credit only for them. Because of the major snow storms on the east coast the next few weeks, I wasn't able to deliver them to be tried on until Feb. 14. My son and daughter-in-law both said the dresses were too short to wear. I picked them up and mailed them with a letter of explanation back to the store two weeks later. In the box with the dresses I enclosed a request that a copy of the credit be sent to me at the address on my letter and the box. I did not hear from the store. The sales associates had taken the time to show me how they keep track of returns in a notebook and file, so this January when I was in Dallas, I went in to check on and perhaps use the store credit. The sales associate remembered me and the dresses. She could not find them in the return records, so she twice called her manager. I waited 1/2 hour while the manager did not return her sales associate's calls. I looked at everything in the store and saw nothing appealing. I left with the sales associate promising that I would get a call. Two weeks later the store manager called me. She remembered the return and stated that she lost the letter from me that was enclosed. Instead of apologizing for never processing the return, she reiterated several times that the merchandise came in over 30 days after purchase. I said that this situation was unacceptable and needed to be reported. Upon my request, she refered me to the website for Pitaya. I wrote a long letter and received a reply from the president of Pitaya, who stated simply that he stood behind his store manager, in spite her actions and my explanation. He gave me two weeks to get from FL to Dallas to pick up the dresses, which was the first time I was told the dresses were in the store. I requested that he verify with the store that the dresses were there, and I have since picked them up so that I can donate them to a high school. Like many women, I worked for a national clothing chain and devoted myself to outstanding customer service, which is what I want in a store. Although I find customer service is getting worse in retail, it is rare to encounter a merchant who thought nothing of keeping both my money and my merchandise. I truly did not expect the manager and corporate to choose to lose a customer, her family, friends, and anyone who understnads this review, particularly since the return was because a beautiful, petite 26 year old college grad pronounced the merchandise too short. She may have said that to not offend me and I may have been blinded by the $32 price tags, but our son agreed that the dresses could not be worn. In fact, I tried to make the case to Pitaya that the dresses could be worn at any time of the year to a dance, wedding, cocktail party, etc., and surely were better looking than anything in the store's stock this January. There were no party dresses, and my dresses could fill the niche that was so depleted after the holidays. I can live with the return policy, even though I spent considerable time before purchase with the sales associates telling me they could be returned for store credit and not mentioning I had only 30 days. I had explained the distance-time factors for trying on the dresses. I find unconscienable, however, the actions of the store manager and Pitaya president having both my money and my merchandise and not giving me that information. I have never seen anyone so unconcerned and stubborn. Retail operates with huge profit margins and generally takes in money only twice a year, making one wonder why? The competition is strong. For those of you who like Pitaya, I suggest you prepare for the inevitable closing of this chain. Far better and friendlier choices exist. read more

I love this store. I've been shopping here for almost 5 years now. It's very convenient for me. I'm the type of person that likes to shop with a mission. I can stroll in quickly in between my work shifts when the store is slow or I can even come on weekends or at night when the store might be busier and always get the help I need. I'm always looking for a last minute outfit for a specific night out or an event coming up (birthday, social event, or football game tailgate). The store is organized by colors so I can go right to the section I need. Also, a staff member almost immediately takes my clothes in hand and starts a fitting room for me. My favorite part is how someone knocks on your door to follow up if you need a different size in something. You never have to get fully dressed again. I brought friends in to visit the store from out of town and they also loved it. They said the clothes were great for the price and especially the area in West Village. They also liked the music selection. We had a fun time with the staff while we modeled our outfits in front of the big mirror near the dressing room. One staff member took our picture for us. Another staff member helped by bringing more sizes and different colors. They even offered suggestions for other varieties of clothing that fit in the same realm of the items we were currently trying on. I always recognize the owner whenever I come in to the store. She's always in the store and she always says hello right when you walk in the door. I think she's such a sweetheart and I really like her staff. They always ask what type of outfit you're looking for and what event you're going to so that they can offer some assistance for you in the store while you're looking. I was specifically looking for green for a baylor game and the staff gave me their opinions on items I tried on and helped me match jewelry with my outfit. It's really cute because they even told me at checkout to have fun this weekend at the football game. I love this store. I've never experienced any bad service or any problems. Will not be coming back to this place again. I walked in with my husband around lets say almost 8PM. Usually when you walk into any retail shop, you are greeted with a hello or some sort of nice gesture. There were two employees working, one was a blonde girl and the other young lady a brunette. As soon as we walked in the first thing that came out of the blonde girls mouth was "What are you looking for?" Not even a hello how are you? When I replied with, "Nothing in particular" She looked away and my husband happened to see her roll her eyes. My husband was a bit upset and tried his best not to say something. Luckily that attitude and unfriendliness made us just leave right away and go to the cute little shop next door. We were immediately greeted by the young lady working there. I have been in here numerous times, each time purchasing a few items. The selection is quite nice and i love the items I have recently purchased. However, the staff is less than satisfactory. Each time I am never greeted, much less acknowledged in the slightest way. The girls are always behind the cash wrap consumed in conversation. Once I am ready to try on, I ask for a fitting room and I am treated like I have just interrupted some very important gossip. The pattern continues when I go to check out, the girls resume their gossip about other employees and hardly acknowledge me except for telling me my total. This is not a sorority house, this is a business. I expect a little more professionalism and customer service. read more
