Horrible service. I'm injured and suffering from a car accident. The greeter did not offer us the last table except offered us the bar and gave it to the lady behind us. I asked why weren't we offered that table and he said he saw she had a baby. Noted. I understood. I then waited for an open table and asked politely if we can have a seat that has a back support and shared that I have an injury. I was denied because they had another set of people that's on a wait list. So someone who's already there and asking if they can accommodate someone who's injured is not on their priority list. Food might be okay but the customer service is garbage. I personally appreciate an establishment that's accommodating and offers sympathy. They didn't even care. On a normal day I would love to sit by the bar and skip the wait list. This is a rare occasion for me to ask for a comfortable seat that would support my back and neck. Won't be back there for sure even on a normal day where I'm not injured. Customer service is that important. read more

The first time I went here I didn't think it was great but that might have just been my poor choice of burger, like it wasn't bad but maybe I had expected a lot more. This second time I just went because I wanted a burger and I wasn't disappointed at all. I was thinking about getting their class act burger, but then I was enticed by the waitress's suggestion of their cameo burger (which is their special). It was called the "Orange County" which was a citrus marinated chicken with salsa cruda, arugula, asiago cheese and mayo on a lemon poppy seed bun. The burger was fantastic especially considering I was thinking about getting a beef burger. The chicken wasn't dry, and it was very tender and juicy. The "citrus" profile wasn't over powering but it was just flavourful enough that I enjoyed every bite of it. I got that with a side of poutine, which is something that is hard to ruin. The fries were hot, the cheese curds were chunky (in a good way), and the gravy was pretty hot, but not hot enough that it melted the cheese curds to my liking; Having said that I still enjoyed it. We also got a spinach dip to share that you really can't go wrong with, it came with tortilla chips and naan bread to dip. The service was nice, and came back to check on us enough that we didn't need to call them over unnecessarily but not so much as to feel pressured as can be the case at some other restaurants. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere but it was a bit loud, but that's to be expected at a bar type eatery. One thing to note is that we were charged $1 for asking for the dressing to be on the side of my wife's salad, weird. In any event I would come back, if I were craving burgers. read more

I love Next Act. The food is amazing, it's the kind of menu where I'm never sure what I want. The Mac and Cheese is delicious, the pb&j burger will change your life (seriously just try it, I know it sounds odd but MIND BLOWING) and even the house salad is craving worthy. Order from them, visit when you can, it'll definitely be a favourite. read more

The Next Act has consistently been a go to choice for a few years! I love going in for a plate of their delicious smoked Coca Cola ribs or a Brisket donair with a poutine. I cannot think of a time when my husband or I have been disappointed with an item on the food menu, the beer selection or the service. The staff have always been friendly and on top of their game! The only reason I docked a star is because I am personally not a fan of how crowded and loud it is inside the restaurant. I do however enjoy sitting on the patio in the summer! read more

The Next Act - Pubs Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

I'm torn, because I've been a regular here for years, and previously have recommend it as a great 'go to' burger place in the Strathcona neighbourhood... but lately it seems like things are going downhill? I have found that they have changed their buns, so they seem more 'airy' and don't really support the meat inside. Literally the last time I went there when the burger came out, before I even touched it, the bottom bun was honestly paper thin because of the meat portion. It also seems like their side salad portions are getting smaller too (and prices have been raised recently so that seems ridiculous) and some of the sandwiches (example: pulled pork) have a laughable sized portion of meat on it, so you're essentially paying $16-$18 dollars for a dainty portion of meat and a squished bun... I would say generally, it's an okay place, but things aren't as good as they used to be and I will stop bringing people here. Last guest from out of town I brought was extremely disappointed in the food and I was embarrassed to have recommended it. read more

This place is LEGIT! Amazing food and drinks! You will not regret checking this place out :) one of my FAVS in all of Edmonton

So reliable, even after so many years... I had a salad craving the other day - & ordered their Arugula salad, which was was fantastic!!! The unassuming crumbled pistachio brittle sprinkled on top totally made it! I ordered the smaller size, which was a reasonable size, but would definitely get the full size next time cuz it was so yummy and the smaller one wasn't quite enough with a side of chips & guac. Speaking of chips- It's hard go to Next Act without ordering the nachos - but they are huge - so instead I was happy to find I could get a side of guac & chips. read more

I just don't get it? I live somewhat nearby and this place is always full basically.. the food is alright, even pretty good on most items I've tasted but nothing I would ever even crave slightly. Prices are definitely on the high side for what we're talking about.. whether you're looking for brunch or lunch. I've been here 3 times since they're opened, the meat is always on the dryer side, even though I load up the BBQ sauces (best part about this restaurant IMO). The hashes I've had are generally undercooked, and just underwhelming the entire plate because of them, and the price they put on them. I hate to right reviews that are less than good, but I am just so confused with these places, and the reviews I'm reading on here. I'm not saying its terrible I just don't understand all the hype, and don't mean any disrespect but all I can think is that it has somehow gained a trendy, hipster following and this crowd just keeps returning? Anyways, all the power to them! I wish them the best of luck.. I'm sure I'll be brought here for brunch again someday, and maybe I'll figure out why people love this place! read more

The Next Act has been one of my favourite Old Strathcona institutions for countless years. I can't remember a time when it was not here, nor can I remember a time when I did not love the place. If anything I would say that the food has improved over the years. It has gone from a great little pub with decent burgers to a first class "gastropub" (God, I hate that word... it sounds like a stomach condition brought on by bad draught...) The difference in my mind is the quality of the kitchen staff and the chefs. Yes... they have a real CHEF in the kitchen, and have had for a number of years. The relationship between NA and MEAT next door has been beneficial to both kitchens, and to us, the diners. Personal favourites off the menu... Pulled Pork Nachos (Oh Baby...) Smoked Cola Ribs (There's that MEAT connection...) Grilled Cheese Sandwich - (One of the best in town - swiss & aged cheddar w/ apple slices & bacon on polish sour rye) The Critic Burger (All of the burgers are great...) They also do a wonderful brunch menu on weekends. The atmosphere is friendly, though it can get a bit raucous and loud in here when it is busy. (and it is always busy.) Service is generally good and staff are professional, though make allowances when they are running hard. In the warmer months patio seats are at a premium, but one of the best places in the neighbourhood to watch the world go by, especially during Fringe. There is dedicated parking for your bike, so bring one... Places come and go in this part of town, but this one is here to stay. It is easy to see why, and I for one am thankful Long live the Next Act. read more

The next act is a tried and true hamburger joint if you're in the Whyte Avenue area. The hamburgers are juicy, greasy and delicious. Over the years they have adapted and have a veggie burger as well, with avocado and other great things. It can get a bit noisy on the weekends, but the booths are far enough away from each other so you can still hear your party across the table. Every time I come here there is one table left, which tells me that they are priced right for what they deliver. Sorry no pictures. I was just dreaming longingly of a Buddha burger durin the Covid 19 epidemic of 2020. read more

How is it that I have visited Next Act as many times as I have and I still haven't written a review?! What a travesty. After getting brunch here the last two weekends in a row, I think it's about time!! First off, until last week I had no idea they even served brunch. This is the perfect way to top off a visit to the Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning. I've tried both the breakfast poutine and the breakfast sandwich (sans bacon) and I loved them both. However, I'm a bit of a poutine fanatic so it was a clear favourite for me. The only issue with it is that the portion is fairly small compared to other restaurants. This is fine for me as I'm not a huge eater anyway. It was just the right amount. However others I was with commented that it wasn't enough for them. They're also spot on for lunch/dinner and have one of the most veggie-friendly menus I've seen at an omnivore restaurant. They're one of the few restaurants where I always opt for a salad side instead of fries. Their house salad is delicious. Strawberries and homemade dressing? Yum! It's the perfect way to offset a gooey grilled cheese. Next Act has a great atmosphere: trendy without being pretentious and sports one of the best patios in the Old Strathcona area. I can't wait for summer! I've never had anything but excellent service here. My only complaint is the high-top tables. They look great but as a lady with a shorter stature, they aren't the most comfortable way to dine. I always try to snag a booth when I can. read more

Always a fan of the Act. Such a cozy little place, delicious craft beers and fancy cocktails, and a wonderful menu. Before I went vegan the brisket donair was a staple of mine, fresh crunchy veggies, spicy melt-in-your-mouth meat and a tangy sauce. The fries there are some of my faves in the whole city, I sometimes go there just for the fries. Now that I'm a vegan, I really only go for the vegan poutine. The cheese is melty, the gravy is salty and savoury (and has always been vegan!) and the fries are hot and fresh. So so so good. Having the Alleykat Sunburst Ale on draft is a plus for me too. read more

Gastropub type place with great burgers and a decent beer/drinks selection. Their special feature is the "cameo burger", which changes weekly - sometimes it isn't even a burger, but both times I've tried it it was delicious. Their regular burgers are delicious too and OK this isn't health food, but if you want beer and a burger and are near Whyte, this is a great option! Pro tip: they're open later than most places, so if you are out late on a week night and want food, you'll find the kitchen still open up to midnight (and the bar till 2). Since most other places in the area close down significantly earlier on week nights this is a great place for a late night snack or dinner -- and if you're a traveler staying at the Metterra Hotel just around the block it's probably the best closest food option that will still be open if you arrived late (the Metterra's lounge/bar closes at 10 on weekdays). Down side: they don't take reservations and aren't huge, so there can be a line and a wait during busy times (like 6-8pm ish) especially if you're a larger group. In this case, MEAT is right next door and you can always put your name on their wait list also and go to whichever opens up first. read more

Very reliable pub fair. We had the donair and haddock burger both very flavourful. The donair has quite a sweet sauce which I liked but my husband wasn't overly fond of. The haddock burger was large and very tasty with what might of been a home made bun. GREAT fries and house salad although the salad could have been a day fresher. Sad desserts though only bread pudding and a skillet cookie, even a ice cream and pie addition would be a nicer choice. Very prompt friendly servers my empty plate was whisked away the minute I put my fork down. I would absolutely go again. read more

Sunday afternoon my sister and I wanted to go shopping down whyte. I honestly try to avoid whyte ave because of all the hustle and bustle of ppl but Sunday is one of the best times to go. There are less cars and only a handful of ppl. How I miss shopping on whyte... After our little shopping spree we decided to grab a bite. I always wanted to try Next Act Pub because of all the great reviews but could never find parking around the place. Thank goodness we got a parking spot right in front and still was able to shop around that area (not that I'm lazy to walk lol). The few mins of chill in the air we ran inside. We found a great booth by the window then was greeted by our server. I had the ginger beer which was phenomenal and my sister had a regular ice tea. I heard that their burgers were extraordinary but I decided on the ginger halibut sandwich with the house salad. My sister ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and fries. My sandwich was the best fish sandwich I ever had (I'm not lying or exaggerating), from the sauce to the veggies, bun and especially the FISH! My sister enjoyed her meal as well, she decided that she will add apples to all her grilled cheese sandwich for now on. Overall it was a great experience, we will be back! read more

My list for best burger in Edmonton starts and stops at The Next Act pub just off Whyte Ave. Specifically the PB&J burger. I don't know what it is but peanut butter on a burger is amazing. Add some bacon jam and I'm in heaven! Fries are good, although not great (and that's where is loses a star). But you're coming for the burger so that's not a big deal! It's a pub so the beer is important. The selection is good although nothing you couldn't get any many other places. The location itself is just off Whyte Ave and always busy. It's got a great patio in the summer otherwise the cosy booths are a great spot to sit. It feels very relaxed with some old school movies usually playing on TV instead of the hockey game. Service is always friendly and quick! read more

This has been one of my favourite restaurants in Edmonton for years. On my most recent visit, we asked to sit on the patio (despite there being plenty of room inside) and only had to wait maybe 5 minutes for a spot to open. The server was really nice about it and didn't mind our request. The service throughout the meal was attentive and friendly. She offered drink recommendations and came frequently (but not too frequently). As for the food, I got the tequila lime chicken sandwich and it was fantastic! A little spicy for my tastes but the guacamole on it was out of this world. The bun was perfect and soft. My side Caesar was huge (way bigger than most sides) and delicious. It was entirely dark leaves (I have a pet peeve of places that give you the wilted yellow stuff) and covered in real Parmesan. I can't recall if there was bacon in it but I believe there was. Either way, one of my faves. This is a rare restaurant that I haven't had a negative and deterring experience at. I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

I'd heard good things about the beer selection here, but I ended up being a bit disappointed. Perhaps my hopes were too high. Anyhow, there is a good selection of both bottle and draft beer, but it's a very safe selection. If you're looking for more eccentric beers or lesser known imports, then you'll have to go someplace else. That said, anyplace that has Blanche de Chambly on tap for only $6 ($5 with the dollar off happy hour discount) is okay in my books. As for food, I had the hummus. It was hummus. The server was friendly; she brought things to the table in a timely fashion. I'll probably go back. read more

The thing I love about The Next Act is that they are consistent. I never have to worry about the quality of the food or the service I will receive when I head out for a meal here. The drawback is that wait times can be quite long as it's popular, located on Whyte Avenue, and is a relatively small venue. I've waited for as long as 40 minutes during peak times but it's always been worth it. I'm willing to wait because I know it will be a good experience. As for the food, the last time we went, we went for brunch on a Saturday. It was busy, as expected, so we did wait 30+ minutes for a table. Parking was also an issue but that is more than normal for a business in the Whyte Avenue area. I had the Breakfast Poutine ($14.00) and my partner had the French Toast Sandwich ($16.00). The Poutine was delicious, ooey gooey, with crispy baby potatoes. One thing was that it was a relatively small portion, and it wasn't a very good value at $14.00. The French Toast Sandwich was to die for, it was an absolutely incredible mixture of luscious melted brie and sweet berry jam. It was definitely the better of the two meals. Now for the reason I docked a star, the drinks. I decided to try a feature tap, and after discussing my preferences with the server, she brought me something malty and disgusting. I asked her for a wheat beer, and she assured me that this would be light and refreshing and it was anything but. My partner had the Poinsettia, a play on a mimosa, but with cranberry juice rather than orange. It was nothing to write home about. It wasn't mixed well, and overall it wasn't very good. Props to the Next Act for great food and good atmosphere. Be careful when ordering drinks though, order something easy to make or something you recognize from the beer menu. This place is definitely worth a try and is one of my favourite places to eat in the city. read more

If you're looking for some awesome and creative pub food (like pulled pork nachos!) or adorably-named burgers (the Drama Queen) just off Whyte Ave, then pop on into local theatre-goer fav The Next Act Pub. I swung by for Saturday afternoon drinks and appies on the patio with a couple of friends. We all sipped on blueberry lemonades (I don't even really like blueberry-flavoured anything, but this was good) and my friends finished off their sammies and fries with pizzazz. The sun was shining, the food was hot, the drinks were cold, and our waitress was very friendly. Plus, the patio is a bit quieter than a lot of other nearby bars because it's a block away from Whyte Avenue. My only complaint is that the benches on the patio tables were a little small. Odd and nitpicky, I know. Also, rumour has it that one Mr. Nathan Fillion likes to hang here when he's in town... read more

I love everything about the Next Act simply because there is nothing pretentious about it; it does itself so well, it's like visiting a friend's place. You know what to expect, and it doesn't let you down. Food is always good, and the cameo burger is worth trying; this weekly special has a witty name and lets the chefs in the kitchen step out of their normal and try something new. The MEAT brisket donair, and smoked MEAT sandwich are my staples if the cameo is something I'm not crazy about, or have already had once during the week. Rotating beers on tap and in bottles/cans keep the drink menu interesting. Usually craft and local selections reign on tap. Service is awesome. The wait staff are amazing and knowledgeable with great personalities and witty humour. Kitchen crew is phenomenal, getting everything out hot and fresh to the tables in a reasonable wait time. I bring everyone I know here! read more

The Next Act has become my go-to spot for pulled pork, burgers, and of course people watching. The burgers ($12-$13) are top notch, with great stuff like blue cheese, stewed chillies. The fries are ok, but I would suggest getting the house salad as a side. It is truly a fantastic salad. My favourite dish is the pulled pork nachos ($18). Take a couple friends and try to finish them... I dare you. The Act has a great vibe and a nice mix of people; nobody would feel out of place here. And the staff is great too. read more

Great service and delicious meal. Four of us went for dinner and we all really enjoyed our meal. I had the Veg Burger (Drama Queen) which was fantastic, fresh and on a really great roll. The others had the Cameo Burger - featuring that day a blackened fish sandwich with orange & fennel slaw - and PB&J Burger. To top of our meal we all enjoyed some of the seasonal brews. Fantastic. read more

The Next Act is the "actor pub" in the heart of Old Strathcona's theatre district. It's a frequent go-to for theatre folk after rehearsals and shows, and you can usually see some familiar faces in the crowd. Since the renovation and the change in ownership, the food has definitely gotten better. The pulled pork nachos (and sandwich) are definitely on my go-to food list. The Next Act also does Sunday brunches and once a month will do a sit-down, old-fashioned family dinner. You should also consider heading down on a Thursday evening because you have a significantly increased chance of spotting me. read more

The next act is one of my favorite places in town. The servers are friendly. It is always busy but somehow you can always hear the people you're with. The Mac and cheese is my favorite in Edmonton, they have a decent beer selection, and if you haven't tried the pb&j burger you probably should. I also love their regular salad. I always say yes to the next act. read more

I like the Next Act. These days, it's one of first places I'd go for a beer on Whyte Ave. The go-to pub after the various theatres in the area let out for the night, it can get rowdy in the evenings... in a friendly way. In the afternoons, it's more relaxed. The patio is cute and great in the summertime. There are lots of beers on tap, and the menu is solid. Maybe a bit pricy, but I've always enjoyed what I've ordered. The staff is always friendly, too. Highly recommended if you want a slightly older crowd and a decent booth to sit in around the Whyte Ave area. read more

We decided to go to Next Act on a Friday night because we wanted to go to Whyte to a bar that had a decent selection of beers - more than just the usual Molson/Rickards/Keiths or other mass market American beers. There are a few other bars in the area that fit the bill - The Pourhouse (went their the week before) Wunderbar (there was a show so it would be loud) and Sugarbowl (probably would have had to wait a while for a table) but we heard the Next Act had a decent beer menu. They don't have as many beers as some of the other places I listed, but they do have a fair number. We tried a Mill Street lemon tea wheat beer, which was kind of a wheat beer with an iced tea flavour. I quite enjoyed it. I also had an Erdinger, which I drank a lot of in Germany and always enjoy. We didn't have any food, so I can't comment on that. We've eaten there in the past but that was prior to their renovations and menu update, so it's not really applicable. We started the night with four of us but two joined us later and unfortunately the booths are really small, so it was a very tight squeeze to get us all in there. All the booths are the same size but there are tables too. Unfortunately none were available for us, but we made do. Service was pretty good too. Our server checked on us often, but not too often and recommended some beers as well. read more

I used to frequent the Next Act in the late 90's, when I worked and played on Whyte Ave. It was a favorite spot for lunch, or for just grabbing a drink with friends. Hasn't changed much, from my perspective. I understand that the ownership has changed hands, but it's still the friendly, comfortable little spot that I remember. Unfortunately, I can't give an accurate review of the food - my understanding is the item I ordered (the Cameo burger/the Notebook) is a limited time option. It was damned tasty, though.:) read more

Top things i like about the next act: 1. They have expanded their beer selection and now carry cool tasty beers and siders. 2. They have added Gluten free items to their menu. 3. I have been to The Next Act Pub for countless lunches as well as afternoon snacks and a few stops in the evening, and every single time I would give it 5 stars. Next Act is the kind of place where the great waitresses and waiters know your drink when you sit down. The whole staff team is friendly and hard working. It's a solid menu with some of the best burgers in the city. I always flip from a jalapeño chicken burger and their pb and j. And once in a while I'll go for their grilled cheese, which combines some apples and some other goodies for a super comfort meal. Their fries are the best and I recommend BOTH the jalapeño and the sundried tomato mayo. Or, their side salad is also great with fresh strawberries and grapes and the lightest dressing ever. I tend to get salad packed to go as I know that the burger will be enough for me for lunch! It's always busy but it is worth the wait. 11:30 is a great time to go for lunch. And it's a good place for a large group too as they have a giant booth in the corner. The art is always changing and makes for great conversations as well. I definitely recommend the Next Act for a consistent, tasty experience with good service. read more

The Next Act is an Edmonton institution & the place to go after checking out a play at one of the nearby theatres. It's ambiance is comfortable and unassuming, with lots of booths for intimate.conversation surrounding a bunch of hightop tables for those wishing to mingle. The menu is small yet versatile - something for everyone, plus the price is reasonable for the generous portions and super tasty fare! My personal favourite is their mac and cheese, which includes crumbled bacon and jalepenos atop a crunchy crust! Pair it with a glass or red wine and you're on your way to food heaven! I have even stopped by to grab some for takeout when I am feeling like comfort food on the couch! In the evenings they often play classic movies on their tvs, which is a welcome reprieve from the ever present sporting event! Next Act, please never leave Whyte Avenue! You are such a welcome alternative from the pseudo-hip gastro-pubs taking over this city! They'll never be as perfect as you! read more

I should add a few other tidbits: *The beer selection is always improving and rotating. If you don't like what's on tap or in the fridge one week, come back next week. *Sarah loves the veggie burger *Fries are hand cut, home made and delicious. *The side salad is also inventive and delicious. *Service is always very friendly *The beef burger, like most burgers in Canada, is still pretty dry and flat, but the Next Act does a great enough job with its toppings, to make you forget about the juice-less burger. read more

As I have mentioned before, I'm a brunch girl. It's easily my favourite meal of the day and not one I get to indulge in often enough. When I want something different from chicken and waffles or pancakes (not that there is anything wrong with that) I like to hop on over to Next Act for a late morning meal. Don't get me wrong, their dinners are great (their burgers are excellent quality and always done to perfection) and their cocktail menu is small but spot on (I love the amaretto sour) but I just really love brunch. The breakfast poutine, the pulled pork melt, the breakfast sandwich... it doesn't matter. They're all winners. Top them off with a boozy coffee and you've got yourself an excellent meal. No matter how busy Next Act gets (and because it's awesome, it's almost always packed) the service is really good. You never have to wait too long for food and servers are always coming by to check on you and help. I love it here and I'm going to keep coming back often. There's really no need to say anything else. read more

I visited the next act pub on a beautiful summer day in Edmonton. We had to wait a bit to get a seat on the patio but we did end up getting one. The waitress came up to us within the first 5 minutes to take our drink order. I noticed the special fruit beer they were serving Alley Kat Grapefruit beer. Yup, that is what I was going to get. Andrew ordered a Steam Whistle and we were on our way to deciding which burger on the list we should order. Andrew and I took a look at the menu, we decided to each order a burger, one of us would order it with house salad and one of us would order it with fries. Although they had a variety of different burgers on the menu, Andrew assured me that we had to order the Cameo Burger, which he said he had once and it was a burger with Jack Daniels soaked apples and some kind of weird cheese. Not realizing what the cameo burger was at this point (the menu read "if you haven't heard, ask us) I just trusted Andrew that this apple topped burger was the best thing ever and went ahead and ordered it. When our burger arrived it was definitely not a soaked apple weird cheese creation. This thing has a bunch of ground up weird looking jelly on it and what looked like melted crunchy peanut butter on the bottom. It was at this point it hit me: the chalkboard outside of the pub reading "Our PB&J Burger is Back" is the same sign that also broke down exactly what the cameo burger is. Yes ladies and gents the cameo burger is exactly as it sounds; a burger that shows up temporarily on the menu for a "Cameo" and goes away, something my naturally blonde dumb self didn't put together until the burger actually came. And honestly I am sooooo freakin glad I didn't! The PB&J burger came out exact as described "A beef burger topped with Bacon Jelly, Cheddar Cheese & Peanut Butter". YES I said BACON JELLY. This burger was like an orgasm for my mouth . It had the most outrageous toppings and it tasted unreal! Seriously peanut butter on a cheeseburger?! Bacon Jelly?! Who thinks of this stuff??!! Apparently the cheeseburger geniuses at the Next Act Pub do! I asked the server how often they change their cameo burger, and he informed me it is changed once a week on Fridays. You can follow them on Twitter at @nextactpub where they announce weekly what their newest cameo burger will be. Fries -The fries were very tasty no doubt, but nothing about them jumped out at me as for being special. Still good though Salad- It was a delicious house salad with strawberries, grapes, almonds, and a nice white balsamic dressing. Very tasty. It is one of my favorite places to eat now! I tried the "director" burger which comes with avocado, jack cheese and good amount of crispy french fries. The burger was juicy and delicious. The Next Act - juicy delicious "director" burger - Pubs Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

Lunch on Whyte, What a place I tell you. I am no fan to the Burger, but this place oh my gosh best Veg burger (The Drama Queen) I have ever ate in my life. And very reasonable priced. The French fries, PERFECT! The way fries should be made. Very busy place at lunch. But the wait for a table is 5 min max not even. Really took me away from Edmonton. What a restaurant should. Also the service was quick considering how busy it was. The Food timing from ordering, to kitchen to the patrons is impressive. Two TV screens had a old 50s show playing which added I'd say a bit of character to the atmosphere, while the bar screen had the hockey Stanley cup game on it. All around excellent touch. Love the art on the wall, very classy and unique. Although it can be a little loud and tough to hear as it is a small confined space. There is a little patio section out front which adds a nice touch, outside on Whyte Avenue on a sunny beautiful day. Will for sure be back... read more

Best burger in the entire city. can't go wrong with the nachos either. Great vibes and you can bring your dog on the patio as well.

My husband, mother in law and I ended up going to Next Act as a second option but it's definitely not a second rate establishment. We got a booth along the back wall in a bustling and diverse dining area. We heard from the server that it's always busy. A peruse of the menu lead me to the PB&J burger. Peanut butter and bacon jam. On a burger. I was so interested and so hungry that I went for it. Two words: incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed this burger and the fries were on point. Even though we had to wait for a bit in line, I will wait every single time for that burger. About a week ago, my husband and I returned to Next Act, this time with two friends in tow. We waited in line, assuring our friends it was worth it. We sat and had some drinks and some appies while waiting for our food. My husband and I both ordered the same thing as the last time we were there and were incredibly impressed. Our friends enjoyed as well. Our one buddy was raving about the Pb&J. It's that good!!! read more

The Act Food Truck finally hit the streets this week. I visited them Tuesday on their official first day on the streets of downtown (by the 4thStPromenade). Don't wander the streets looking for them, check them out on their twitter page to find out where they'll be next. I had the director which I've had many times at The Next Act and although slightly smaller, it tasted the same (good) and was relatively cheaper. I think it's perfect for a light lunch, and you can add a hummus cone or side fries if you're feeling like a larger meal. I live closer to The Next Act than downtown so for me, going to the pub would be a better experience as I can get a pint as well, but for those denizens of the concrete jungle across the river, this looks like a great addition to the food truck scene in Edmonton.
