definitely 5 stars all day long. i have never had a problem dealing with the owner, tom for 40 years. he knows everything there is to know about neon. anyone that might say anything bad about tom doesn't know what they are talking about. he has always helped me with my neon situations. don wing read more

Spoke with the owner trying to request a neon, and i've never been spoken to in such an insulting way by a vendor. I called asking for a quote for the neon plus install. After sending him the information he called back because he gave me a price any only thought I wanted install, and sounded upset. He then said there was no way to create the neon because it was too small for that detail and I have obviously never made a neon before and have no idea what i'm talking about...all before I could say anything to him over the phone...Ill be sure to take my business to vendors who can speak to clients in a respectful. read more

My wife just came back from this neon store. She was crying. The owner was so rude to her. My wife was trying to do a favor for her brother and get a sign he had bought from Amazon repaired. she told him she thought the sign was probably a piece of junk. He open the box and plugged it in and start it so then he said all your brother wants me to do is put it together. He gave her the sign back, would not give her the box back, and told her never to come back I really do not understand why he could just not have said something nicer. All she was trying to do is help her brother. read more

I had an old beer sign neon that I cracked on of the glass tubes. I brought it into the store to get fixed. Tom was very polite and informed me he could repair my sign. He informed me of the signs est value and what it would cost read more

I walked in the other day to check the store out. Placed three orders for three different neon designs. That should speak volumes on the quality of this business. All the neon designs are professionally done and the business owner was extremely kind and accommodating. Thank you! - Neir from Drina read more

I'm very disappointed with Tom. I got neon window lights years ago and one went out. It was hard to get someone out to repair. Being as though I like to keep the same company to service. Just a few days ago...another dude went out. Tom said he would be out one day...had me sitting and waiting. I called the next day and he said he would be out at a certain time. I asked was he sure because I didn't want to sit around waiting again. He started telling and talking down to me. Maybe he should hire a younger crew if he don't want to deal with people anymore. Very sarcastic man. Very edgy. Now I have to search for some place else. Hoping that I don't have to pay to replace all lights under new company. A big inconvenience at a time like this in trying to get business back up and running. read more

Bought a sign for my fiance for Christmas. It was a little more than I wanted to spend but it looks AMAZING!! Really happy I spent the extra money and shopped local business. Very happy with my purchase read more

Goodness gracious do I love the Neon Shop!! talk about memorizing anytime I stroll past here. Sadly I have yet to purchase anything from here but love looking around. You don't see enough neon stores in my opinion so I am glad this place is around still. read more

Brought a neon clock a few years ago for neon repair. Clock motor worked great before I dropped it off, then didn't work when I picked it up. I specified that it was blue argon color, got it back in bright orange neon. Took no responsibility for any problems, they just wanted to argue about that, obviously another "Chicago Way" kind of place. read more

I took my neon here which was broken, and although the repair was more than the thing was worth, he still offered a fair price for the parts. 4 stars for sure. An extra star because you can get LOST looking at the massive selection of cool and unique neons. (Wonder what THAT electric bill is like) read more

This is a neon shop from some period in history that I'm not familiar with. Either that or its from another planet, but either way it's the most amazing place to wander around in. There is more neon signage in this place than in the rest of Chicagoland combined and it runs the gamut between new, used, and "somehow acquired". Even though every imaginable theme is represented in his four and five deep collection, there is a heavily weighted preponderance of beer signs. So much so, says Tom the owner, that he told me he gets two or three guys a week that walk all the way to the back of his shop to order a beer (they think his shop is a bar). I bought my "Walk Ins Welcome" sign for the addiction center I run and departed a little happier with the world than when I walked in. He gave me a glimpse into a happy and self-satisfying world that a talented guy has built in the middle of Chicago's urban jungle! read more

The man who I believe is the owner is extremely rude. We came in undecided on what we wanted, okay I get it.. that's annoying but with his attitude and pressure it made it even harder to decide. The store is set up where you can't even walk up and down the aisle without the owner having a heart attack. How are you going to set everything all over your floor and scream to tell your customers to be careful? He even said "your money isn't worth it." He's frantic, annoyed, unprofessional and is just out right rude. There are way too many places to chose from than to receive his poor customer service and attitude. read more

I picked up a white sox neon sign from here. I was so happy to find it because most of them online, are attached to some beer logo. I wanted it for my boyfriend's Christmas present. The price was much more reasonable than signs that were similar that I've seen online. My boyfriend loved it! We will definitely be back for more things for his Man Cave. And the lights are so bright, no other light is needed. Awesome shop! read more

The ONLY place to get a Neon Sign in Chicago! Don't think this place is just for businesses/bars. They have some fun signs for personal/man caves. Got my Husband a Blackhawks sign that is the talk of all his friends! Tom, the owner, is an artist! He obviously loves what he does and it shows! Super friendly! BONUS: The prices are very reasonable! When I had the idea for my Husband's b-day gift I had no idea what to expect pricewise...always thought neon signs were expensive...not so at the Neon Shop! read more

After a bad experience at a local sign shop, I decided to give Neon Shop Fishtail a try. Just Outstanding! I brought in an old neon Bud sign which needed repairs on Friday, and Tom had it ready for me the following Monday, and did an awesome job! Great place, great guy, great service! Meanwhile, I actually went back and purchased another great neon sign several weeks later! I highly recommend Tom and Neon Shop to anyone out there needing sign repairs or wanting to purchase! Great store. The owner, Tom Brickler invited me inside and let me take photos of some of his signs and even showed me some great old ones he was working on restoring in the back room. He had an amazing passion for neon and did really amazing work. The world needs more sign makers like him. read more

A friend of mine highly recommended this place. Called to get a quote for a custom piece. No answer or voicemail to leave information. Website says open til 6 pm. I arrive at 5pm spontaneously and doors are locked and nobody inside. Can't judge the place for their work but just unprofessionalism read more

Got a custom sign for my home and I love it! Fair price and it was done in less than a week.

I discovered this neon store when researching neon online and found a lightbulb in neon there, perfect for my studio. I thought the place looked cool with all sorts of signs and Tom, the owner, who was totally cool and knowledgeable, promising to make my name in neon next time I visited from CT. Definitely a memorable experience...thanks Tom! read more

Top notch service! Tom was able to assist in a short notice and he was such a pleasure to work with. He was not only resourceful but he really think outside the box to solve our challenges. He helped us installed a vintage neon artwork over a steel beam/brick wall and did a fantastic job. Highly recommended! :) read more
