We drove past this place a bunch of times both during the day and night, and it was always popping, so we finally stopped in for brunch to see what the hype was about. The views are unbeatable. You're looking straight out at all the boats docked in the harbor, watching golf carts zip by nonstop. It's basically peak Avalon people watching. We grabbed champagne and just sat there soaking it all in. For food we ordered the breakfast burrito and the oatmeal. The oatmeal surprised me in the best way. Perfectly cooked, not overly sweet, just really well done. The breakfast burrito was solid too, and I asked for both red and green sauce. The red sauce was the winner for me. I really wanted to try the buffalo milk, but I couldn't bring myself to commit to a whole serving, it felt heavy. After way too much internal debate, I skipped it...and now I'm regretting that decision as I write this. It looked so good. All in all, great food, unreal views, and a super relaxing vibe. Definitely stop by if you're visiting Avalon. Oh one thing I didn't like....we asked for waters and they brought us boxed water. It tasted like plastic, so gross. Don't order water here. We wouldn't have asked for it had we known it was going to be boxed water!
Enticed by the name, we decided to swing by this place after landing on the island. It's not too hard to get to this spot, it's technically a hotel's restaurant. It sits right in front of a roundabout that then faces the beach. Very cute, service was also fantastic. The salad was great but the tuna nachos were a bit lacking. It still tasted good but I wish there was. just a bit more tuna or other toppings. Would recommend it as a nice place to just relax
Service is great. Everyone is friendly and cool and just here to help you have a good time. The poke nachos were phenomenal. Best appetizer and perfect to share! We tried the buffalo milk, it's like a milkshake with a shot & the pepino cooler which is perfect if you're looking for a refreshing drink. It's such a beach vibe and you can't go wrong with sitting at the bar or outside. Really loved this place!
Good view and mixed drinks, average food and service. Tuna nachos were not bad but the ratio of chips to tuna and mango was off. Mai tai was decent and quite boozy. Other meals portions were tiny (especially bowls). The menu was different from what we saw online so I posted an updated menu as of March 2020.
This place was disappointing and whoever was the OGM on Saturday July 19th, you need to learn better customer service. I came to Catalina to celebrate my mom's birthday and we decided to try out this place. We get there and they don't have seating that fits our party of 6. So the server asks if we're okay splitting up to 4 and 2. We were hungry so we said we were okay with it and would wait for the table that does seat our whole party to open up in the mean time. So my bf and I sat on the patio area while my family sat at a table near the bar. We were hoping that the other table near the bar would open up soon. Our server was attentive and was nice and we appreciated him trying to accommodate us the best he could. My bf and I ordered drinks and the other server brought one of our drinks over to my family's table and my sister told me that he could barely form a sentence. He handed them our drinks and said Order?? But later on, my sisters would overhear him talking to the other tables perfectly, in complete sentences. So that was a little weird. While waiting for our food to come in, we saw a small table open up next to my family, not the big one but at least it was a table near by. We asked our server if we could move over there so at least we were next to my family and he says sure. But as we go to sit down, the other server brings over a party of 2 and says it's already reserved. And then the OGM swoops in with her blazer and says that theres a queue if we want to sit down and that we need to leave. Obviously it was just a misunderstanding, and my bf and I don't mind if it was already reserved for another group. It's not like we got up without asking someone first if we could sit there. But the OGM was rude and just assumed that we went and sat down there of our own accord. Which was weird because I had made eye contact with her plenty of times before when we were sitting on the patio, so it's not like she didn't know that we were already seated customers there. And as a manager, she couldn't go about the situation a little more kindly? Instead she just straight up tells us we can leave. We told her a server said we could sit there and shes like which server? We tell her and she just walks away. My bf and I go back to our original seats and we're frustrated with her tone and her rudeness. Our server comes by and apologizes, but theres not much he can do with her as a manager. Then to add more fuel to the fire, my bf and I saw that the large table finally opened up. We ask our server if we can all move there now. He says he'll go ask his manager. As we're waiting to hear back, a party of 3 white ladies that were sitting next to us move over to that table without asking anyone and the OGM sees all of this and doesn't say a word. Where was the swooping in that she did for us? Where was telling them that there was a queue and they needed to leave? The group didn't even ask and they weren't even a full party of 6. On top of all this, the food wasn't even good. I ordered the shrimp linguini and it's just dry noodles that tasted like mac and cheese with 4 barely cooked shrimp. My family didn't like their food either and it was way overpriced for what they gave us. Also ordered the buffalo milk cocktail, it was nasty. Just a huge disappointment and horrible customer service from the ogm there. Our server we had was very nice and is the only reason I'm giving two stars to this horrible establishment. If you're debating eating here, find another spot!
We love this restaurant! Love to sit on the patio on the rail. Our favorite is Julian. He's always so great and his service is perfect, he knows us when we come in 4x a year. Today we noticed the restaurant was out of everything and the buns for the burgers were store bought cheap small ones. The owners need to get with it! This is a great location and has good workers. I'd hate to see it fail from poor food quality. Just my $.02
The food was 10/10. My husband loved the ahi nachos and his drink the Svelt strawberry! I had the breakfast sandwich which was amazing as well. I also got the bottle of mimosa with flavored purées strawberry and peach! Service was a little slow to start but great overall! Beautiful views and ambiance. Will definitely be back!
Wow not sure what happened but it's gone down hill so much since we were here last. Came in twice so far this trip and very bummed both times. Now, sat night and not very busy. Two girls working (both long dark hair). We sat for about 10 minutes after they told us they'd bring our menus out and we ended up having to go ask for a menu. Then ten minutes later had to go ask if we can order a drink. Were about to leave but she finally came out to take our order and said they were out of few things we tried ordering. Got an appetizer and blackened shrimp I had last time. They brought out our appetizer with our meal and some plastic forks and spoons.Everything was disappointing. Super small shrimp compared to last time Very bummed because we loved it last time we came here. I'm sure they won't be here next time we visit just like a lot of the places on the island sadly. Read that this place has good poke nachos, calamari and chicken wings. My friends and I shared the poke nachos and calamari. Both were pretty good but nothing special. The service was slow and food took awhile to come out. Try the cucumber mojito lemonade. It was refreshing after walking around and being in the sun. read more

Love the view here. Service is good. We came during breakfast hours and sadly didn't get to try the ahi poke nachos and had to leave the island as it was our last day there. Our breakfast sandwiches were great though. My husband had the lobster Benedict and it was perfection. I had the breakfast sausage sandwich and it was delicious as well. We had the mimosas and the watermelon mimosa was far superior than the peach one. I would like to come back and try the ahi poke nachos next time!! read more

The view was gorgeous on the patio! I only wish I were closer to the heaters! The cocktail was delightful and refreshing! The shrimp was so flavorful and delicious with the mango rice, and the fish sandwich was very tasty!! The hummus dip with naan though... that was my absolute FAVORITE!! The olive pieces, little nuts, and seasoning was the PERFECT appetizer. I can't recommend enough. read more

Delicious gin cocktail (empress)! Loved the ambiance of looking at the water and watching all the people not use the round about correctly lol. Not the best for large groups as a few were wanting to have drinks but were having a hard time getting enough seats just fyi but perfect for us two. Fast service! read more

This is a cute little restaurant to stop and have brunch. We sat outside on the patio at the bar/ edge and we had the perfect view of the harbor. We enjoyed some sunshine and a great meal. Service was quick and the staff was pleasant. Our food was surprisingly delicious, aesthetically pleasing and cooked perfectly. The fries were extra crispy and my egg was poached to perfection (and I am very particular about this). The avocado toast had furikake in it and it gave it such a unique and delicious flavor. So we tried this place as soon as we landed and we did not know that it's the spot to eat at. Only had the ahi poke nachos and a drink because we wanted to try other places, big mistake on us. The nachos were not exactly nachos but still one of the best dishes I've had. Everything was made fresh the chips are wontons served with corn and other veggies with micro greens and of course the tuna. It was an experience with every bite, very shareable plate once you start its hard to stop whether you eat a piece by itself or a full chip each items flavor stood out. I hate doing this but I want to save you $$$ Let's start off with the Poke Nachos, they are to say the least, OK, nothing to rave about, pretty dry in my opinion especially when you've had Poke Nachos from Yard House which are by far the best in the world!! Secondly, the infamous Lobster BLT, one word; DRY! It just lacked so much, not sure how anyone loves this sandwich. We spent over $120, only thing that was good was the Blackened Shrimp and coconut rice, that was fire, ngl. Oh and if you're bringing the kids do not do the nuggets, they are Tossed that out immediately. read more
The menu was quite small. I ordered the blackened shrimp bowl because I read the reviews about it and people seemed to like it. In a nut shell, this was a handful of shrimp on top of the weirdest tasting rice with mango bits. The shrimp was alright, you can't really cook it wrong. However, the sushi rice (which was a majority of the dish) tasted sweet and a bit sour-ish. I wasn't sure if I had a bad batch or something but I would've rather they just served me plain jasmine rice with my shrimp. I paid $25 including tax and tip. Not worth. read more

We enjoyed a late lunch here on the patio which was cozy with heaters. I loved the papaya salad and would've been just fine without protein for how filling it is, but opted for the blackened chicken on top before knowing the portion size. Wish there was more chicken for the $7 added cost, but all in all it was a very filling meal. I had the mai tai along with it and it was the perfect tropical treat. Even on an overcast day we enjoyed our experience and would recommend the stop for anyone passing by. read more

Stopped in for a quick appetizer. Had the chicken wings and they were delicious. Grilled drumettes lathered in a sweet, Asian style sauce. It came with some sort of green ranch dip that I could've devoured with a full plate of veggies. Enjoyed a nice waterfront view from the patio. Service was good. The menu is somewhat small and a bit pricey for what we got ($20 wings), but it is a cute spot and what we had was tasty. read more

A streetside restaurant in a boutique hotel. My waiter was exceptionally friendly and made me feel right at home. It has a lovely ocean harbor view at the end of the tourist buzz of Front St. I had the fish tacos. On this occasion it was swordfish. It came with three colorful mini tacos. My first bite was fishy but the other two tacos were fine. It could use more zest with flavor and acid, but my main issue was the portion size. It was more like an appetizer than an entree. Great service, our server Johnathan, was amazing and took great care of me and my boyfriend. I had the cucumber vodka lemonade and Johnathan told me that the cucumber purée was homemade and it showered with how yummy it was! We had the calamari and poke nachos both super delicious and perfect to share. We came at about 2ish and beat the rush. We came in two days in a roll for light lunch and drinks. The cocktails we have tried were so refreshing and tasty. I really liked the illegal tonic specialty drink and mimosas. Sister loved the Foxy lady cocktail. The food menu had many Asian fusion inspired items which was unique and interesting. We have tried lobster hand roll, Korean spicy calamari and grilled wings. Everything was so flavorful but a bit too salty for sister. I personally love salty foods so I really liked the food. The views of this restaurant and bar were the best. We had the views of the Avalon bay and boats. Such a relaxing place to enjoy a few drinks and snack food. The service was always great and so friendly. We walked up after the lunch rush and were seated immediately. The server gave us a couple minutes and took our drink and food orders. I ordered the Paloma and my wife ordered the Svelt Strawberry drink. For food, we split the Lobster BLT, which was enough for two people and absolutely delicious! We also ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and added bacon. The curried honey mustard on it was awesome! We loved the whole experience and will definitely go back before we leave. A popular spot people stay for a while, so there's always a line unless you catch them right before rush-hour. Everything is cooked to perfection and if it's chilly, we can sit outside under the heater. The prices are typical for any breakfast about 20 to 30. read more

Decided to eat at this spot after a long day of biking because of the high ranking it received on yelp. There was a party in line at the front of the restaurant when we got there, and they seemed a little frustrated. It became apparent that no one had checked on them, and they had to ask the hotel front desk what they should do. Finally a server came and sat them, and then us, but was not friendly whatsoever and it felt like they were annoyed. We sat at the bar and ordered the fish sandwich, and we were happy with the quality and flavor of the food. The three stars came from the experience we had with the staff. We watched an interaction where a patron came up to give a server the tip before they left, and as soon as they left, the servers were talking to each other in front of us about how they gave an awful tip. Also, there was a couple beside us trying to ask the bartender questions about the area who was giving one word very dismissive answers that left us uncomfortable. Although the food was good, we had a pretty bad service experience and therefore would likely not go back. read more

Our 2nd stop in Avalon was at the Naughty Fox. It was inside Bellanca Hotel and had a very good ocean view for outdoor seats. We were hungry so we didn't wait for the ocean view but instead of seating at the bar. Our bartender James made some recommendations and we got ahi poke nachos and harbor burger. The nachos was beautiful and delicious . It was placed as an appetizer on the menu but really could be served as a meal on its own. The only thing we didn't love was the constant tendons in the tuna, but it couldn't be helped due to the cut of the fish. The burger was pretty good as well. The patty was seasoned and cooked to medium just like we asked. However, the star was actually the potato that came with the burger. It was seasoned well and texture just right. Yes, we loved the potato more than the burger. We also got two cocktails. They were good but overall too sweet for us. Down to it, this place was a hit. Tasty food, friendly and knowledgeable bartender (ask him anything local, why going to the museum? ), and that nice view to just kill the afternoon with. This is a must try on Catalina Island for sure. read more

this place gets crowded really fast during peak hours, so it's important to go at a good time, or be willing to wait. i ordered the blackened chicken sandwich, and i genuinely think about how good it was like at least once a week, and it's been 6 months since then. service was good and attentive which was appreciated. i thought it was slightly insane that they charged for water, but that was only a slight detail. the location is beautiful and has a great view from the outside. it's cute inside as well, but the outside seating is the best. overall, i would definitely come back here the next time i'm in the area. read more

The food was absolutely incredible, for starters the poke nachos were really flavorful with fresh ingredients. I think they are a must try along with the lobster BLT which is the reason we chose to eat here in the first place. The lobster was well seasoned and the bread was toasted to garlicky perfection. The wings were actually grilled on a grill you could taste the flavor along with the ginger scallion sauce that was light but packed with flavor. I will come here whenever I visit the island. The servers were all pleasant and attentive as well. I just wish the place was bigger. read more

Probably the best dishes I've had on the Island! The Nachos are a must on top as, as many cocktails you want to try!! Mac'n'Cheese was okay but still delish just got full on the amazing Calamari that caught my tongue as well as the Nachos. Lobster Sandwich with that brioche bread was tasty as well!!! Service was great and seating is first come first serve which was okay since waiting wasn't too long. read more
