For being on Catalina Island, the fish is not as fresh as I expected. I ordered the poke nachos, the spicy poke bowl, & the blackened salmon. It'll surely fill you up, but the protein is scarce & tastes mediocre at best. However, there are not too many great restaurants in this area so it might be worth your time still. The service was excellent & the setting was really cutesy. I wish I ordered the açaí bowl, it looked delicious.
Darn good spot to get a drink! Great view (of the harbor)/ inside and outside seating , good drinks, nice bartendress (today), and a great name- what's not to love?
The view and the location of The Naughty Fox is incredible sitting facing the water, people watching, with a drink in your hand. But as far as food or service, I can't say too much. It wasn't bad but it wasn't exceptional either when we went. There was nothing about this spot aside from it being open, our group wanting a drink, and the view. We stayed for less than an hour and kept it moving. It was pretty quiet and dead but again we were there Wednesday-Thursday instead of a typical weekend.
We came for happy hour, it was BOGO on appz. We shared poke nachos, wings, and regular fries. I love everything honestly. The wings were very flavorful and there was so much poke on the nachos (I loved the mangos on the nachos, I thought it added a nice touch). We sat outside and people watched and just enjoyed the view. The server was kind to us as well. I recommend coming here if you're on the island!
Perfect spot for breakfast, especially if you are staying at the Bellanca Hotel. Great view and people watching from the patio.
This has been one of my favourite dining spots on the Island in the past. While still decent, I'd say it has lost half a star in my opinion. It's a small space, mostly outdoors, on the ground floor of the Bellanca Hotel. Inside is the bar (full menu available), while outside has about 4-5 high tops and a bar with seating that faces away from the restaurant, right along the sidewalk and street, with bay views. I recently have been visiting Catalina in the winter, when Naughty Fox has extremely limited hours, Friday-Sunday 9am-7pm (sometimes 5 pm I think). So that's a late-ish breakfast, lunch or early-ish dinner. I was only able to eat here this time because I changed my arrival date to Sunday due to an ominous weather forecast. They always seem short-staffed here. I have better luck sitting at the bar, where on this Sunday there were several parties here primarily to bar-hop. Service can be slow, but the bartender was nice because a couple next to me who clearly had been to Luau Larry's (they had on the hats) befriended her. The mocktail she created (they don't have a spirit-free menu) was delish and pretty inexpensive to boot. I ordered 2 dishes I have enjoyed in the past--the ahi nachos and frito misto. The nachos, my past fave, were still good but lesser. The wonton chips were thicker, the poke sauce more assertive, and the mango hardly detectable. The frito misto also was lesser. Everything was overfried, the scallops were tiny. The calamari and shrimp were okay, but the veggies (squash, carrots, onion, broccoli) were sliced so finely that they were indistinguishable from each other, just unidentifiable fried blobs. I asked for chopsticks for easier eating. I remember getting some spicy-sauced rice in the past, but I may have ordered that separately. Lastly, be aware that Naughty Fox, like pretty much all other restaurants in Avalon, does not serve free tap water, you must buy a bottle, or a box in their case. I bring my own water bottle when I visit the Island. While not as great as past visits, I would still return here, because the menu is still pretty unique for Avalon.
This would be my recommendation. The patio stays full and tourists seem to gather or congregate at this end of the beach.
We drove past this place a bunch of times both during the day and night, and it was always popping, so we finally stopped in for brunch to see what the hype was about. The views are unbeatable. You're looking straight out at all the boats docked in the harbor, watching golf carts zip by nonstop. It's basically peak Avalon people watching. We grabbed champagne and just sat there soaking it all in. For food we ordered the breakfast burrito and the oatmeal. The oatmeal surprised me in the best way. Perfectly cooked, not overly sweet, just really well done. The breakfast burrito was solid too, and I asked for both red and green sauce. The red sauce was the winner for me. I really wanted to try the buffalo milk, but I couldn't bring myself to commit to a whole serving, it felt heavy. After way too much internal debate, I skipped it...and now I'm regretting that decision as I write this. It looked so good. All in all, great food, unreal views, and a super relaxing vibe. Definitely stop by if you're visiting Avalon. Oh one thing I didn't like....we asked for waters and they brought us boxed water. It tasted like plastic, so gross. Don't order water here. We wouldn't have asked for it had we known it was going to be boxed water!
On the last day at Catalina, my friends and I decided to go down and have dinner at a restaurant. This one seemed to have a pretty good online menu and higher ratings than most, so we picked it. Upon arriving, we got sat down quickly. The views were nice. However, it took the server a while to even take our order, considering there were hardly any people there. When we asked for water from the tap, she refused us and said they only sell bottled water. It was strange because they had a bar and bars typically give free water- but okay. Once we ordered, the food took almost 30 minutes to arrive. Again- there were hardly any people. It was a slow Sunday afternoon. I got these Ahi tuna nachos I was excited to try. They were okay. The chips tasted purely like oil. Definitely will not be coming back, and the service was extremely slow as I mentioned.
Enticed by the name, we decided to swing by this place after landing on the island. It's not too hard to get to this spot, it's technically a hotel's restaurant. It sits right in front of a roundabout that then faces the beach. Very cute, service was also fantastic. The salad was great but the tuna nachos were a bit lacking. It still tasted good but I wish there was. just a bit more tuna or other toppings. Would recommend it as a nice place to just relax
We came here for the simple fact that I searched the BEST poke nachos multiples times (because of internet issues) and they came up with an insane picture! Turns out the place more than matches the picture of just the nachos. Leah, our waitress, is simply fun. She was so welcoming and fuming to chat with that we should have just bought out her day-time pay rate + tips and had her sit with us! The view...cmon.. Avalon harbor...not too shabby. Checkout the pic! The one questionable...the Famous+Naked drink. The green chartreus threw me. No idea what it was, but Leah came to the rescue...she said...try a little taster of the green chartreus...so I did...and wow, a stronger version of a Jäegermeister with green pine needles thrown in. The drink...'amazing.... The nachos...ok, the nachos are simply the best we have ever had. No poke out matches the wonton chips, no bland poke stack...this was a legit flavor bomb of mangos, spicy mayo, tuna, with nori powder over every chip!!! Don't question it, just come here...
Excellent service! Friendly and helpful and ready to make my experience just right! Thank you for being awesome! I also enjoyed the cucumber drink and ahi nachos. Good people watching spot.
Service is great. Everyone is friendly and cool and just here to help you have a good time. The poke nachos were phenomenal. Best appetizer and perfect to share! We tried the buffalo milk, it's like a milkshake with a shot & the pepino cooler which is perfect if you're looking for a refreshing drink. It's such a beach vibe and you can't go wrong with sitting at the bar or outside. Really loved this place!

Best food we have eaten on the island for the last 2 days Fresh vibrant and delicious .. all of it Great service and a very chilled out vibe makes it a perfect breakfast brunch lunch or dinner spot We had the blackened prawns which were sensational with genuine tasting blackened seasoning and nice char, would def order again .. tip make sure you squeeze the lime over the shrimp and just as important the rice , with the mango & coconut it's bang on delicious The poke nachos also sensational great size serving perfect for sharing with a nice little zing in the toppings and dressing , pretty to look at and easier to eat Chicken wings , cooked perfectly and not drowning in salty seasonings but a subtle smoke from the bbq flavour and a nice Asian style dressing - perfect One of the better fresh food dining experiences found here Oh and that view over the Marina is sensational as well , it's on the roundabout so traffic is constant both golf carts and pedestrians so plenty of people watching on offer as well Will def be coming back ! read more

Food was good, we loved the potatoes side they give with all the sandwich/ burger options. The views are amazing, sitting outside looking at the bay is beautiful. Service could have been better. Our waitress was short and wouldn't make eye contact but it didn't ruin anything about the dinner read more
At first the service was super slow, we noticed people that were sat around the same time as us were calling for the servers. They don't server lunch items until 11am so be warned if you got a little early and want lunch not breakfast. We waited and ordered the lobster BLT which was amazing!!! So many different flavors probably the best sandwich we have had! It came with two sandwiches so we split it! The drinks were good but not great! Overall great views, good food would come back! read more

Came here for our day trip to Catalina. The food & drinks were really good & we all left satisfied with our choices. We've been to other spots & unfortunately the food was a miss. I ordered the Blackened Chicken Sandwich with the papas bravas & a spicy mango margarita? soo good! my mom ordered the Blackened Shrimp Bowl which she really enjoyed. Definitely recommend! the service was great, we sat at the bar as there were seats available but otherwise you're looking at 30-45 min wait to sit outside. read more

The view was gorgeous on the patio! I only wish I were closer to the heaters! The cocktail was delightful and refreshing! The shrimp was so flavorful and delicious with the mango rice, and the fish sandwich was very tasty!! The hummus dip with naan though... that was my absolute FAVORITE!! The olive pieces, little nuts, and seasoning was the PERFECT appetizer. I can't recommend enough. read more
As part of my work trip, my group and I went to six different restaurants on Catalina Island. THIS WAS THE BEST ONE. Service was great, and the food was really great! I went with the poké nachos and they were excellent. My colleague ordered the lobster BLT and that looked amazing as well. Some of the other patrons caught us staring at some of their dishes--everything looked so good! I hope to be back sometime soon. read more

We really enjoyed trying this new American restaurant located at the end of the shops along the boardwalk. We ordered the lobster blt which wasn't what we expected it to look like but it was till good-they should Just called it lobster roll lol. The bread was so fluffy and buttery. The Mac and cheese was listed under shareables but was a large entre size portion; I had to take half of it home! It was really good Mac and cheese! It was busy at lunch with a wait to be seated if you were a group bigger than 1-2 due to limited seating and mostly outdoor high top tables and high top bar seats. There were a few tables and bar seats inside but that was also open to the outside patio. Everything on the menu looked amazing, would definitely be bake to try more. read more

A streetside restaurant in a boutique hotel. My waiter was exceptionally friendly and made me feel right at home. It has a lovely ocean harbor view at the end of the tourist buzz of Front St. I had the fish tacos. On this occasion it was swordfish. It came with three colorful mini tacos. My first bite was fishy but the other two tacos were fine. It could use more zest with flavor and acid, but my main issue was the portion size. It was more like an appetizer than an entree. The sandwiches looked more generous. A nice spot for an outdoor cocktail. read more

Love the view here. Service is good. We came during breakfast hours and sadly didn't get to try the ahi poke nachos and had to leave the island as it was our last day there. Our breakfast sandwiches were great though. My husband had the lobster Benedict and it was perfection. I had the breakfast sausage sandwich and it was delicious as well. We had the mimosas and the watermelon mimosa was far superior than the peach one. I would like to come back and try the ahi poke nachos next time!! read more

Came on a Friday afternoon so there was a wait, but luckily we were seated quickly (because we chose to sit outdoors where there weren't any umbrellas). Got a little sunburnt lol but the nice view of the pier and the food was worth it. My fave was the poke nachos & the wings were pretty good too. read more

Delicious gin cocktail (empress)! Loved the ambiance of looking at the water and watching all the people not use the round about correctly lol. This is a cute little restaurant to stop and have brunch. We sat outside on the patio at the bar/ edge and we had the perfect view of the harbor. We enjoyed some sunshine and a great meal. Service was quick and the staff was pleasant. Our food was surprisingly delicious, aesthetically pleasing and cooked perfectly. The fries were extra crispy and my egg was poached to perfection (and I am very particular about this). The avocado toast had furikake in it and it gave it such a unique and delicious flavor. I would definitely go back. :) read more

Decided to grab lunch at naughty fox after a busy morning. I Did not have a reservation here and got sat immediately. Server shared their menu and best sellers there. They also shared they do not give "free" water here, therefore you must buy boxed water that is 4.99. We decided to grab the ahi tuna nachos for an appetizer and they were delightful. Perfect tuna to nacho ratio which I liked and perfect amount of seasoning 4.5/5 We also got wings which were decent. I do think they could have had better seasoning to them and the serving overall of it was lackluster 3/5 The shrimp tacos were okay as the shrimp had not one bit of seasoning to them and the only thing that did give them flavor was the lemon I had on the side to squeeze onto the shrimp and the chipotle sauce smeared on the tortilla and purple cabbage which brought the whole taco bite to a decent taste but if you would just take a bite of the shrimp then it would definitely disappoint. The tacos can definitely be better. 3/5 Overall, service is good and ambiance is great as people are there enjoying drinks and socializing outside but food and menu could be more varied and better. read more
We came in two days in a roll for light lunch and drinks. The cocktails we have tried were so refreshing and tasty. I really liked the illegal tonic specialty drink and mimosas. Sister loved the Foxy lady cocktail. The food menu had many Asian fusion inspired items which was unique and interesting. We have tried lobster hand roll, Korean spicy calamari and grilled wings. Everything was so flavorful but a bit too salty for sister. I personally love salty foods so I really liked the food. The views of this restaurant and bar were the best. We had the views of the Avalon bay and boats. Such a relaxing place to enjoy a few drinks and snack food. The service was always great and so friendly. This is a must stop for drinks and views if you ever visit Avalon! read more

So we tried this place as soon as we landed and we did not know that it's the spot to eat at. Only had the ahi poke nachos and a drink because we wanted to try other places, big mistake on us. The nachos were not exactly nachos but still one of the best dishes I've had. Everything was made fresh the chips are wontons served with corn and other veggies with micro greens and of course the tuna. It was an experience with every bite, very shareable plate once you start its hard to stop whether you eat a piece by itself or a full chip each items flavor stood out. Tried the empress gin cocktail just breccia off the color it was good not as great. If you go the service is good and the food is better. read more

Read that this place has good poke nachos, calamari and chicken wings. My friends and I shared the poke nachos and calamari. Both were pretty good but nothing special. The service was slow and food took awhile to come out. Try the cucumber mojito lemonade. It was refreshing after walking around and being in the sun. read more
The menu was quite small. I ordered the blackened shrimp bowl because I read the reviews about it and people seemed to like it. In a nut shell, this was a handful of shrimp on top of the weirdest tasting rice with mango bits. The shrimp was alright, you can't really cook it wrong. However, the sushi rice (which was a majority of the dish) tasted sweet and a bit sour-ish. I wasn't sure if I had a bad batch or something but I would've rather they just served me plain jasmine rice with my shrimp. I paid $25 including tax and tip. Not worth. read more

We enjoyed a late lunch here on the patio which was cozy with heaters. I loved the papaya salad and would've been just fine without protein for how filling it is, but opted for the blackened chicken on top before knowing the portion size. Wish there was more chicken for the $7 added cost, but all in all it was a very filling meal. I had the mai tai along with it and it was the perfect tropical treat. Even on an overcast day we enjoyed our experience and would recommend the stop for anyone passing by. read more

Stopped in for a quick appetizer. Had the chicken wings and they were delicious. Grilled drumettes lathered in a sweet, Asian style sauce. It came with some sort of green ranch dip that I could've devoured with a full plate of veggies. Enjoyed a nice waterfront view from the patio. Service was good. The menu is somewhat small and a bit pricey for what we got ($20 wings), but it is a cute spot and what we had was tasty. read more

Hi Stephanie,…
Our 2nd stop in Avalon was at the Naughty Fox. It was inside Bellanca Hotel and had a very good ocean view for outdoor seats. We were hungry so we didn't wait for the ocean view but instead of seating at the bar. Our bartender James made some recommendations and we got ahi poke nachos and harbor burger. The nachos was beautiful and delicious . It was placed as an appetizer on the menu but really could be served as a meal on its own. The only thing we didn't love was the constant tendons in the tuna, but it couldn't be helped due to the cut of the fish. The burger was pretty good as well. The patty was seasoned and cooked to medium just like we asked. However, the star was actually the potato that came with the burger. It was seasoned well and texture just right. Yes, we loved the potato more than the burger. We also got two cocktails. They were good but overall too sweet for us. Down to it, this place was a hit. Tasty food, friendly and knowledgeable bartender (ask him anything local, why going to the museum? ), and that nice view to just kill the afternoon with. This is a must try on Catalina Island for sure. read more

I hate doing this but I want to save you $$$ Let's start off with the Poke Nachos, they are to say the least, OK, nothing to rave about, pretty dry in my opinion especially when you've had Poke Nachos from Yard House which are by far the best in the world!! Secondly, the infamous Lobster BLT, one word; DRY! It just lacked so much, not sure how anyone loves this sandwich. We spent over $120, only thing that was good was the Blackened Shrimp and coconut rice, that was fire, ngl. Oh and if you're bringing the kids do not do the nuggets, they are Tossed that out immediately. read more

We walked up after the lunch rush and were seated immediately. The server gave us a couple minutes and took our drink and food orders. I ordered the Paloma and my wife ordered the Svelt Strawberry drink. For food, we split the Lobster BLT, which was enough for two people and absolutely delicious! We also ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and added bacon. The curried honey mustard on it was awesome! We loved the whole experience and will definitely go back before we leave. Next time we will try the ahi nachos. read more

Decided to eat at this spot after a long day of biking because of the high ranking it received on yelp. There was a party in line at the front of the restaurant when we got there, and they seemed a little frustrated. It became apparent that no one had checked on them, and they had to ask the hotel front desk what they should do. Finally a server came and sat them, and then us, but was not friendly whatsoever and it felt like they were annoyed. We sat at the bar and ordered the fish sandwich, and we were happy with the quality and flavor of the food. The three stars came from the experience we had with the staff. We watched an interaction where a patron came up to give a server the tip before they left, and as soon as they left, the servers were talking to each other in front of us about how they gave an awful tip. Also, there was a couple beside us trying to ask the bartender questions about the area who was giving one word very dismissive answers that left us uncomfortable. Although the food was good, we had a pretty bad service experience and therefore would likely not go back. read more

Great service, our server Johnathan, was amazing and took great care of me and my boyfriend. I had the cucumber vodka lemonade and Johnathan told me that the cucumber purée was homemade and it showered with how yummy it was! We had the calamari and poke nachos both super delicious and perfect to share. We came at about 2ish and beat the rush. The view was amazing sitting outside we had a view of the water and people going by. Definitely recommend and I would love to come back and try more on the menu read more
You know everything is so meh. I don't understand why there's always such a long line at this place. Definitely get the buffalo drink at the beach bar instead of the restaurant it's so much better. you'll thank me later. The po boy was disappointing- the batter ruins the lobster taste and they served with tiny avocado cubes that were way too hard and not ripe . The only thing that was mediocre was the ahi tuna nachos- they were not shy with the ahi tuna cubes which is good read more
