Beer was warm and flat. Margarita was weak. We finally got our food at least 1/2 hour after serving. My husband's food was barely warm. Mine was hot but it was terrible. I took five bites and I was done. Do not EVER eat here. read more

Do not eat here! We made the mistake of not checking reviews before coming in because we were super hungry and wanted to eat something ASAP. Things started off with the server welcoming us and taking our order without writing anything down, only to ask, "Wait, what did you order again?" before walking away. Why not just write it down? Odd. About 20 minutes later, our food finally came out, and my order was wrong. I had ordered a chicken burger but received a beef burger instead. I do eat beef, so I decided not to mention the mistake and was just going to eat it. However, about three bites into my partner's food, he noticed a dead fly (yuck) in his meal. He got the chicken mole btw. At that point, we both immediately stopped eating and called our server over. He apologized, but finding a dead fly in our food was enough for us to leave. The biggest issue was the bill. Our total came out to $95, and we were honestly shocked. Based on what my husband and I ordered and what we actually received, that total seemed way higher than it should have been. We should have gone through the receipt carefully before paying, and that was our mistake. Shall we begin with the bag of onions that were sitting on the floor in the kitchen, the queso fundido that should have a choking hazard in the description, or the old fries that were mixed in with our nachos? The only bright side to this restaurant is that they made a good margarita. If you're craving Mexican food, this is not the place. The salsa was also reminiscent of a jar of Marinara with a few pieces of cilantro thrown in there for fun. The queso fundido was quite literally melted cheddar cheese with a cheese pull for miles, but also was not chewable which I didn't even know was possible. We asked for chips and salsa a few times while waiting, but they didn't bring anything out until our food came out. This was confusing to us because the restaurant was empty! Still, it took nearly an hour for them to bring out our food. The enchiladas I ordered were a mix of mole and verde. What I received was verde and red sauce, which wasn't even an option on the menu. The enchiladas were extremely bland and required a lot of hot sauce. The kids ordered Beyond Burgers, and I asked for these to be made with cheese only. We were seating fairly quick however it did take a while to place an order for drinks. We got chips and salsa with guac and I ordered a wet shrimp burrito. The guac was fresh and had great flavor and the chips tasted like they were freshly made in house. The burrito itself was very flavorful. The salsa gives it a good spice but also a ton of flavor. We recently visited Catalina and decided to try Coyote Joe's during our trip. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to our expectations, particularly when it came to value for money. For just two people, each with an enchilada plate and one drink, our bill came to over $120 not sure if I got overcharged for things because this felt quite steep compared to the other restaurants we visited on the island. At several of those spots, all four of us were able to enjoy a meal and a drink for the same price, or even less.. The quality of the food at coyote Joes also was not the greatest. Somehow their tortilla chips had a slight chewiness to it which I couldn't get enough of. I ordered the burger and fries. It was good but don't expect a gourmet truffle burger here. It's more of the backyard BBQ burger- and I'm a lover of all burger types! So you decide if that's your thing. We ate at the bar and the bar tender was very friendly. It wasn't as busy as some of the other restaurants. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There's TVs that have the game on. We spend every fall on the island, yet somehow had never tried this place before--and now we're wondering why we waited so long. The Buffalo Milk cocktail was absolutely delicious: rich, creamy, and easily a contender for the best on the island. The nachos were unforgettable--a towering plate of warm chips piled high with melted cheese, black beans, and tender steak. It was truly enough to feed a small village; I had to take half back to our boat for a late-night snack. My husband ordered the pork mole, another standout, with tender pork smothered in a spicy-sweet red mole sauce, served alongside perfectly cooked beans and rice. Portions here are incredibly generous. Just as impressive as the food was the service. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of--checking in often and even making sure our dog was cozy and content. That level of warmth and attention is rare, and it made the whole experience feel especially welcoming. We'll definitely be back--and next time, we're bringing friends. We were the only people in the restaurant and yet asked about some chips and salsa, and they said there will be a charge. The music is so loud the waitress messed up multiple orders because she couldn't hear, it took over an hour to get the wrong food. Ordered guacamole and was told 30 minutes into waiting that they didn't have any, however they had all of the ingredients, as they were in the dishes we did get.
