The foot scrub and massage were great too! As for the vibe, it was quiet as old movies or tv shows played. I do think there is opportunity to modernize the space and entertainment but obviously it's not a big deal but could definitely enhance the experience. The real ones know what's up. Finding the right nail tech for you is like finding a boyfriend. Maybe harder in my opinion. You gotta find someone who does quality work that lasts, fits in your budget and fits what you need - do you like talking? Do you not? etc. That's where Becky comes in. Becky hooks it up. She's quiet and calm, and pays a lot attention to detail, doesn't rush me. I've been going to her for a while. Main reason is because she actually cares about my nails. I had acrylics for a long time - she noticed a weird spot on my nails and suggested I hold off on them, giving me gels instead. I came in again for dip powder, two of the corners on my natural nail were chipped, she fixed them for me with tips. This woman is top tier. I haven't tried anyone else here but I have no intentions of doing so. So as far as the negative reviews - they happen. But don't let that sway you when the shorties in south sac really know that this place gets fairly busy and don't care about yelp reviews.

I never had anyone this rough on my nails. My nails came out so bulky and wide. I was so sad but I tip him too because I felt bad if I didn't but now I regret tipping him. They're not friendly. This is my second time here with a big break in between. I came in for a mani/pedi this second time and my sister got a mani. We both wanted a design done and asked the technician assigned to us if they can do what we want from a picture we showed them. The guy that did my sister's nails said he does not do design and that one of the ladies maybe can do it. My sister just settled for two different colors on every other nail instead. I do not know what the manager/owner said to the tech guy, but right before the color, he got up and went to do something else and the manager lady started doing color for my sister leaving her current customer waiting. My sister explained that she wanted blue and pink, blue and pink, in that order. The lady rudely answered her that she knows what she is doing. Meanwhile, I am enjoying my pedicure and saw how my sister got treated. My technician didnt speak much english, but we managed to have a little conversation. She was pretty good at my massage, but hurt me a little while cleaning my cuticles. I just overlooked it and kept enjoying my pedi. When the time to color my toes came, she was a bit confused on what to do after i showed her an example on my fingernails that I did by myself. I asked a few times if she could do it and she said yes. Apparently she didnt understand a word I said because she started to do it wrong and I started to correct her and to clarify if she understood me. Instead, the mean manager that yelled at my sister comes by and pushes her aside trying to save the day, but in a rude way. Then she tells me that I should let the tech do her job because she knows what she is doing and then she will fix it if I dont like it! Who does that?!?!? Why not listen and ask questions if you are not sure or just say that you cannot do it ! After this I asked the manager why she is so mad, and she denies being mad, but I told her that I heard her yell at my sister. She was even more rude to me and kept doing my toes wrong after I told her if you cannot do what I want just to leave it not done. There was more that went on after I was calling her out for what she was doing, but too much to type on here. I ended up leaving after paying for my pedi and with my big toes not painted. I have been going to Cathy for almost 24 years and she has taken over The Nail Stop. She has always had a clean, nice, sanitized materials and very friendly shop. I am so proud that she has her own now that she does my six year old daughters nails and toes now. I have never had any infections on my hands or feet in the 24 years she has done them. I've had many pedis in my time and there's a usual order to it in regards to massage, paraffin, clean and paint nails... This was a out of order that what I'm accustomed to but it worked out. Same outcome. I just found it odd. But why was I charged $55 when I asked for the $45 treatment? I don't remember what the difference in treatments were but I'm pretty sure I asked for the $45 one because I had to repeat myself several times and what I got was what I believed to be the $45 treatment. I didn't fight it. I paid and left.

The massage was lackluster as well. I went in for a manicure and they refused to buff the ridges off my nails claiming that the ridges are underneath the surface and cannot be removed. I showed them that the ridges are on the surface and that you can actually feel them. They refused to even try claiming what I wanted was impossible. I told them I was going to go home, fix it and show them. I'm not going to return. It's a really low quality experience.

My at-home manicures last longer than this. The polish application was uneven, streaky, and overall very blotchy. It looked rushed and poorly done. My pedicure experience was even worse. The technician seemed distracted after having a disagreement with the previous customer, and it showed in her work. The service felt very performative--she applied scrub but didn't actually massage or work it into my skin, skipped lotion entirely, and barely spent time on my feet. At one point, she even scratched me with the pumice stone by dragging it harshly across the bottom of my foot. They also don't offer disposable sandals, which led to my freshly painted toes getting smudged almost immediately. That alone was frustrating. I won't post my toes but it's just like my manicure. While the person who did my manicure paid more attention to my cuticles, the polish itself was just as bad--thick, stringy, and clumpy. It honestly seemed like the salon uses low-quality or old polish. The most concerning part, though, was what I witnessed regarding sanitation. After finishing with a client, tools were rinsed in the sink, placed back into the same "sterile" sleeve, set on the same towel in their cart, and then transferred into a new sleeve. That completely defeats the purpose of sterilization. On top of that, I realized afterward that a drill bit was used on my nails without being changed out for a new one. This place is unsanitary, unprofessional, and careless. I left feeling uncomfortable and honestly a bit horrified. I will not be returning.
