I used to get manicures at Galaxy Nails before the fire accident. I used to really enjoyed their manicures. This was my first acrylic set with them since the fire refurbishments. I have about 4 cuts and acrylic on my skin. I've waited awhile before rating this place because different people worked on my nails and had different experiences and wanted to make sure services were consistent. The workers are nice but very quiet. It's hard to keep a conversation but I like the quietness too. It's happened 2x already in which they clipped me when cleaning my cuticle. It was minor and they were apologetic. However, the reason why I keep coming back is because this is the only nail salon I've tried so far that does a really great job at applying the color on evenly, covers my nails completely, and doesn't chip easily. I've also had good pedicures here. Want to add for the service today (11/22/17). I had Laura who was very accommodating to my request. She took her time cleaning my nails and applying the color. One thing I wanted to point out and had to take a star away for. Although service is great, their nail polishes are old and tools appear to Not be sanitized. It was hard to find the initial color I wanted and I didn't see her grab a new set of tools. Sadly I didnt even realize it until we were almost done. read more

I have been going here for a long time, I live in Land Park so this is very convenient to go to. Normally my pedicures are fine but today it was just not good. The girl who did my service had it done in about 20 minutes and got up and left 3 times to go talk. She didn't talk or ask me what I wanted. I had to struggle to not mess the pedicure up when I left because she didn't help me with my shoes which they have always done in the past (and is much appreciated!) Then when I went to the front she charged me a higher price than what was listed on the menu. Overall this was a really unpleasant experience and I don't think I will be going back because it wasn't the same experience I have had before. She didn't even ask me what color I wanted. she was not happy or gracious about her mistake at all. I'm new to Sacramento so I was delighted to find a nail salon so close to home. My first visit: I must have been the last customer of the day and I felt it in my service. I'm pretty easy to please but the quality of my nails was so poor I called the salon the next day and made an appointment to have them redone. Second visit: solid A for effort, they were very polite. The quality of the paint wasn't as clean as I like but they were kind enough to try and correct it for me. I'm a little embarrassed to have given this place 4 stars in 2011 after my most recent visit. This used to be my go-to spot 'back in the day' for quick eyebrow waxes, but now I prefer threading. I stopped by here recently, and the service here were so unwelcoming! But worst of all... I think there's only one gal that does eyebrow waxing, and when I stopped in, she was in the middle of a pedicure service for someone else. She ended up leaving her customer to service me... Haven't been here in a while but went in today for a pedicure. It's clean, everyone working was friendly and the service was excellent. They have great massage chairs and use sanitary wrappers for each new pedicure. I saw a few ladies leave that were really pleased with their manicures. I needed a mani/pedi badly and like most of us, I searched Goggle for "salons near me". Several were listed but the closest was Galaxy Nails. I started not to go to this salon based on the mixed reviews, even though it was within walking distance from my friend's home; but I took a chance; and I am glad I did. Some of the previous reviews said the place was dirty, shabby, and no one spoke English. I think that was what made me take a chance, what does performing a service have to do with whether you speak English or not! We are a country of immigrants and with that in mind, I played a hunch. WOW! I usually don't write reviews, but I felt compelled to put out the word. This is a "great neighborhood shop" as one reviewer stated. The women working were friendly, hardworking, and even though they were from Vietnam we had no problem communicating. In fact, halfway through my session (I spoiled myself with the full treatment--mani/pedi, exfoliation, hot wax and gel--and the cost was reasonable!). A Mom came in with her 5-year old daughter who proclaimed she wanted the rainbow, each nail was to be different and the sequence had to match-- the hands and toes-- yellow, red, green, blue and orange. As you can imagine, Clarre (she spelled it for us) was curious, full of energy, and bounced around as 5 year-olds do, but when the young staff woman told her she had to remain still until the long hand got on the "6",half past the hour, (it was 22 after the hour at the time, Clarre locked onto that...watching the clock, and exclaiming it's on the "5"...yea, it's on the "6" now! I can move!!" It was very touching...recall when you were 5, and being still for 8 minutes! The Mom thanked the staff for making it a memorable occasion for her daughter, who was excited because her grandmother was visiting. My mother and I come here about once a month for our pedicures. Staff always does a decent job. I've had a couple bad experiences here. We called and made an appointment for 6pm, which we though was just fine, considering they closed at 7. I mean, most people get off work at 5-5:30, so 6 is a normal time for some relaxation after work, right? They took us in, but kept mentioning how "late" we came. I didn't really appreciate that. I work at a restaurant, and even when we close at 11, we have to take people in at 10:55... Our appointments felt rushed, and the main reason I go for a pedicure is for the scrub and soak, but our water was either super cold, or blistering hot. And we felt that they rushed it. For 22 dollars a pedicure, plus tip, I might start looking elsewhere for my monthly pedicure. read more

Would not recommend anyone to go here. The girl who did my nails firstly, refused to remove my current acrylics, saying that they were still in tact and therefore didn't need to be removed. And would only fill the three fingers that had come​ off. I knew she was in a rush but she could have easily said so or refused to do my nails if she had an appointment. So she continued doing her​ thing which I didn't feel was worth arguing about since she was the expert. I told her I wanted a specific shape for my nails and she remarked asking that I didn't​ want to keep the same shape? "No" I said,​ "that's​ why I​ wanted to remove them." So she kept filing them down and shaped them but of course in the end result​, what I asked for was not delivered to me. The shape was not what I asked for. At this point I just wanted to get this​ over with and leave. For some reason (maybe she was rushed) she told me she would apply my top coat after I'm done drying my nails. I was like that's chill no worries. So she took me to dry my nails and helped carry my purse but when I asked for water she pointed to the water dispenser and rushed off to work on another customer's nails. I literally was stuck because I'd have to peel the cups stacked on each other and knew I'd damage the polish but I had a such a bad cough and went for it. Sure enough I scratched a thumb in the process and decided to just deal with it until she checks up on me. 20 minutes later she came back to apply top coat and I​ show her my thumb and asked if she could reapply it. She just dropped my hands, turned around, and walked with attitude to​ grab the nail polish! I waited for​ a few more minute​s after she applied the polish and left me again to help another customer. I assumed she'd come to take the payment but she called for another technician​ to​ take it instead​, who was already preoccupied. Overall, truly an upsetting experience. I've been to several salons and understand the rush and the pressure and I have always been considerate of that by being easygoing when I go in. Eh, this place isn't anything special. There usually isn't a wait time here, and if there is, it's no longer than 15 minutes. I've only gotten pedicures here and in my opinion, it's not worth it. They finish in about 20-25 minutes, even when you add on extra services. So, $27 bucks for a pedi where it feels rush and they literally wipe the mask off as soon as they put it on...I think I'll pass. I got my nails done on Monday, I had to come back in and get one fixed and get them re painted on Thursday as they were already messed up. I get them fixed and re painted and they come out looking worse then before. The girl doing my nails was rushing and put a huge amount of clear coat on them. I absolutely love this place! I'm very picky about my nails and it has been hard for me to find a place that I trust to do my nails right. Galaxy Nails is right in my neighborhood. So, I decided to try it out with a girlfriend. At first, I just did a pedicure and then went to my regular place for my fingernails. Their pedicure was really good and comparable in price, so I decided to try a gel manicure there too. I got Jenny and she is amazing! She is meticulous at both the manicure and pedicure. Went here today for the first time. I'd had a full set with tips done at another salon and I wasn't thrilled with them. The lady that did my nails took them off and found fungus under one of them (YUCK!) She cleaned them up and did a full gel manicure and I LOVE IT! Feels good to have the fake tips off! Received gift certificates for this place and went in to redeem. The place was big, but it didn't seem that nice for the area where it's located. There were spilled fake nails on the floor that no one had bothered to pick up. The workers were talking to each other and were unaware of a waiting customer. The trashy talk show tv on the big screen. The special pedicure I had was just nice - nothing special other than she put the exfoliating scrub and the clay stuff on my legs, but definitely didn't take her time and what not. Bad experience. Cuticles cut to the point of bleeding, nails cut crooked...a child could have painted my nails better. Waste of my money

i went here to get a regular set of acrylics and they shaved my skin, not even my cuticle, so much it looked like a cut. also the woman who did my nails used a get nail polish and put so much on that when she went to put them under the light they dried as if they were dripping off my nails and to make it worse she tried to FILE the NAIL POLISH. completely unprofessional. not to mention the shop was kind of dirty and the whole time my nail tech was talking about how she's going to get cancer from doing nails read more

I was here this past Friday having a mani and luxury pedi for my friend's wedding. I don't get my nails done often; it's not really my thing. But the employees here were quick and accommodating. I stopped in for a full set and pedicure. There was no wait which was nice I go to pick a color and a lot of them are dried up and chunky. The pedicure was okay but towards the end I realized they were using equipment that was not sanitized and previously used foot scrubs and files. Its disappointing when you spend money on a service that is just cutting corners. My full set was horrible. My nails are lumpy and crooked, the paint on my nails is worse not even over the full nail. The lady painting my nails was very rude, and I'm not even sure she had a license, which was why she was only painting nails. The place is in a great location but the quality of service is very low.
