I love this place! Always friendly and relaxing while doing an amazing job on my nails.

I notice there are a lot of 1-star reviews for this place, but almost all of them are several years old so perhaps service has gotten better? I had a good experience here getting dip and extensions, which was only $50 (seems a bit lower than what I'm used to). I believe it was the male owner who did my nails and he was talkative and friendly. I think he paid better attention to detail than some other nail techs I've used before, and he checked with me several times throughout the process to make sure I liked the color and length, which sometimes doesn't happen at salons! However, I do see some of the complaints about the place being disorganized and a bit messy. Not a five star spa experience by any means, but if you want decent nails done at a decent price, I don't think this place is half bad. I wouldn't rely on walking in here--make an appointment to ensure you aren't waiting a long time, because when I went there were only two people working. read more

I have been one time and I will never be back again. EVER. I have worn acrylic nails for over 20 years. I know a thing or two about nails. My regular tech is moving to California so I am shopping around for a new tech. Did some research and The Nail Lounge listed acrylics nails as the first service they offer. I made an appointment with The Nail Lounge and was excited to find a new nail home. I showed up promptly for my 2:00 pm appointment. I signed in and waited. And waited. Not one person acknowledged me for at least 30 minutes. I did see techs look right at me and not say one word to me. There were no smiles, no "We'll be with you soon!" No "Welcome!" or "We are a little behind schedule, would you like some water or something?" Nope. Not one smile or word. While I was waiting and being ignored, though, I had time to observe many things about this salon. For starters, it was messy. The stations were cluttered with cords and equipment. The entire salon was dirty and the air vents were exceptionally dirty. At least, I was hoping it was dirt and not mold. When I finally got serviced, I was in the pedicure chair when the tech told me they did not do acrylic nails. I got my feet out of the water, dried them off, put on my shoes and left. No acrylic nails? That is not what they advertised. It was definitely listed on their website very promptly. I asked the tech if she knew who in town did acrylic nails and she said she did not know. My daughter and I went here on Friday for a basic Manny/peddy. Mine was fine and finished within an hour and a half. The woman who did my daughter's manicure and pedicure took three hours and my daughter finally had enough and just walked out before her nails were even dry because it took so long. She also has redness around her big toe and it looks like a slight infection do not recommend the person who worked on her unfortunately I don't have her name otherwise the salon itself was fine. If I was leaving the review for myself, I would leave four stars. For my daughter I'm leaving one star read more

Kinda odd the way they seat you. Kind of corral you in. I've been here twice now and came back because it is clean. Not the best customer service either. But clean and that counts for a lot as a medical professional. They even do extra detail if you ask, but know it is $5 more. Which I was not told until afterwards the first time. (I almost didn't come back because of this). On another note, my second visit: Ask for deluxe pedicure! Otherwise you will not get the works. It is worth the extra money. ($35 cash/37 CC) No paraffin but they do callus removal, sugar scrub and mud rub with massage. Plan minimally 1 hr for deluxe. (Also I prefer Mary over Shayla. The worst pedicure I ever had. Not even sure what his name was but I'm writing this before I'm even out of the salon because I'm so angry. My pedicure started 10 minutes after my moms and finished 10 minutes before my moms. We ordered the deluxe pedicures and the guy I had went as fast as he possibly could. My moms lady took her time and actually used the scrub and gave her a massage. He basically just slapped the lotion on my legs and rubbed it in. I paid the for callus cream because I'm an athlete and have a lot of them on my feet. He didn't even make a DENT it scrubbing them away. He was very sloppy and rushed through the whole thing. The lady who did my moms toes was very detail oriented and kind. It's really hit or miss On the service so I would never waste my money here again. Pissed I actually had to pay money for my service, poor excuse for a nail tech. Laura was my moms nail tech and she was fantastic just as a side note. Ask for her if you ever go to nail lounge. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The nail technician who did my nails singled me out of all the customers, to pay before my nails were even completed. Their reasoning for this was believing that I would run out without paying, aka--they racially profiled me. I gave them no reason to suspect that I wouldn't pay just like anyone else. Instead, I was singled out in front of everyone with accusations that I was a thief. Not only that, but the nail salon was dingy and dirty. And if you still need another reason not to visit this abhorrent salon, many of the workers seemed to have an attitude with the customers and talked down to them. It's a waste of money and time. Garbage! From the beginning until the end. Came in for a pedicure and my tech was constantly forgetting steps. Didn't get all the products wiped off my legs and feet. Half assed massage. Didn't clean under my toenails until I asked. Cut my skin during cuticle trim. The polish job was about as good as my 5 year old niece could do. Polish all over my skin. This was one of the worst pedis/manis I have ever had. I get gel at least every 2-2 1/2 weeks at another location. Unfortunately I was unable to get in there before going out of town therefore I tried this place. My pedi technician texted the ENTIRE time she did my pedicure. First that is unprofessional not to mention GROSS. I'm waiting for her to finish her texts thru my entire pedi! My toes had a horrible design that was haphazard in appearance and not what I asked for. I even showed her a picture of what I wanted She was rude to me and the remainder of her coworkers during my entire pedi. I didn't know what to say. My mani was horrible but the technician was so nice I felt sorry for her. My gel was all over my cuticles which I had to point out to the person doing this and then she tried to file it down? I'm really serious when I say I was completely astonished with the service and the professionalism. I can't believe I wasted $70. This was my first and only visit here. By the way my gel lasted less than 7 days (normally lasts me 2 1/2 weeks). My pedi chipped by day 4 and one of my toes was only half painted. One of the worst mani/pedis I've ever had. I walked into an empty salon on a Saturday afternoon (there was one other customer finishing a pedi) and was treated like I wasn't wanted. One of the technicians checked her book, called several people, seated me, and disappeared. After about ten minutes of soaking my feet in lukewarm water, I asked the other technician where my nail tech had gone. Apparently she went to have her lunch break! It seemed like this was something she could have told me before I made the decision to have the pedicure. She texted someone during the entire mani/pedi, but the thing that irritated me the most was that both the gel mani and the pedi were almost completely gone after a week and a half, which is not normal for me. read more

The service was very good compared to other nail shops I've gone to. There was a lot of space in the shop so I wasn't feeling cramped, & the high ceilings meant I wasn't smelling many polish or acetone fumes. It was clean & had lots of natural light coming in (2 of the 4 walls are covered with windows). They made me feel very comfortable, which is hard to do because I don't like letting strangers touch or handle me. They also were very good with seeing me even though I didn't have an appointment. I have been seeing them consistently whenever I get my nails done. The first time was for my wedding (my mom recommended them) & then subsequent times for holiday seasons or nice events. Came in from out of town. Needed a Mani Pedi for both my daughters. Called the day before and made an appointment. We showed up a little ahead of our appointment time and said if they could take us now that would be great but if not we were happy to wait (20 mins early). They seemed completely confused by our presence and I am guessing mad because one daughter decided only to have a manicure. The nails on both looked pretty bad and my kids could have probably done better themselves. Sad because no time to fix elsewhere. Here to move oldest into dorm for Rush week. FIRST OF ALL, this USED to be my absolute favorite place in the entire world. i loved everyone who worked there and i raved about them until today. Today i found out i received a BACTERIAL INFECTION from The Nail Lounge because their products are not washed and they don't switch out their nail filers and clippers for each customer, so i proceed to get all my acrylics off because its unsafe during an infection. Mik, the owner who i absolutely USED to adore was going to soak my nails off. She decided she wanted to just take them off by popping them with another fake nail tip. When she had clipped the acrylics shorter to help the process of soaking, two of my acrylics broke in half and also my ACTUAL nail was cracked in half. She then took a fake nail tip and was popping the nails off but she went under my actual cracked nail bed and ripped my actual nail off. I was bleeding a large amount in two fingers and she decide to soak off my other 8 and I HAD TO PULL THE REST OF MY FAKE NAILS OFF MYSELF AND THIS INCLUDED PARTS OF MY ACTUAL NAIL. Then i was asked to pay for it which is absolutely absurd because now i cant use two of my fingers for probably 6 months until my nails grow back. So i don't recommend anyone going to The Nail Lounge, they are inconsiderate and violent with your nails which are precious pieces of our body and they should be handled with care. read more

I LOVE the folks at the Nail Lounge. They are so sweet and so gentle on you. They couldn't be nicer and will bend over backwards to please you.. Their prices are very fair and the work they do is terrific. I'm so glad I found the Nail Lounge. I quit going to my last nail salon because they always tried to rush me in and rush me out. Had a wonderful pedicure here! My feet were in rough shape and they now look and feel amazing complete with summery pink toes.

The service here was extremely rushed and hectic. They clearly had more people than they could handle yet they still were trying to get everyone. The service person I got was not attentive to what he was doing at all. He used a dirty towel and I could see old nail clippings on it from someone else. He messed up my polish and scraped it off with a used nail file instead of removing it properly with acetone. He pressured me into choosing to get just a paint instead of a full manicure and then pressured my friend to get just a fill instead of a full set. I've never seen someone so inattentive and rude. This is one of the priciest places in Lawrence and completely not worth the money. read more

When I went on there this weekend for my wedding nails, again I had a very pleasant experience. I got gel French tips on my real nails and a pedicure with a little detail. I got coffin nails here and they are crooked! They don't look good and customer service was TRASH DO NOT EVER GO HERE!

A friend and I made an appointment to get pedicures. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Sometimes you go to a nail salon and the colors are slim-pickins... Not here! I believe I paid about $37 for the "premium" pedicure which included the massage and callous removal, along with the sugar scrub. Well worth it, in my opinion. Will return in the future! read more

The worst pedicure I have ever had in my life. My toe nails are not shaped evenly, the polish was not distributed evenly on the toes which caused ripples, and after waiting 30 minutes they smudged! When I went back to get them fixed she just put a coat over everything, which is not professional and did nothing. The review is based on my experience in the winter of 2013. The technician scraped my old gel nail as if she removes ice on windshield of a car on snowy days. She clipped my nails unevenly and deeply. At the point she cut the corner skin of a nail with a nail clipper (It was not cuticle), I decided to leave. I've been here 3 times and it's just okay. I go back because I've always liked the final outcome and I don't want to risk spending money on something crappy. But... At least 2 of the times I've been seated in a broken massage chair (they both worked, but not fully), two times the manicurist (different ladies) took phone calls while working on me (one was a client call, but one was a personal call that lasted at least 5 minutes- she continued to work on me while also holding the phone), and I always feel like they rush way too much. I never feel relaxed. However, they have all done a good job at getting my ingrown nails and calluses, and my polish looks great and lasts longer than my nail growth. I am going to try another place next time, though. read more
