First time trying this salon after hearing many good reviews from a couple coworkers and let me tell you, they were so right! I like to get gel-x so first things first is they took of my old set which was a quick and easy process, no complaints. I then showed my design and she got to work. I've never had a salon make my nails look so skinny instead of wide which I absolutely love as a girl with wider nail beds. The ladies chitchatted with me the whole time and it was a nice experience. She even added onto the design I showed her too. Seats are very comfortable, they have an arch light over your nails to ensure precision and proper lighting, and soft music plays throughout the building. My favorite part was the price. I've been to about 4 different salons in the area and they have been the cheapest I've heard and been to. Highly recommend if you want an amazing time, a good convo, and a cheap set! read more

This review has conflicting points. To start with, the employee that did my pedicure was wonderful. She did a really great job and I have no complaints from the service standpoint. HOWEVER, I am not sure I would return again. I made an appointment for 11:45 for a pedicure. I had finished my previous errands early, so I called to see if I could come in around 11:15 instead. I showed up early for my appointment, and by accident it was before they even opened. They were very kind and took me anyway. Kimberly was my tech, she was friendly and skilled. When I picked my color she let me know it was probably a different color realistically than it looked on the sample, and helped me find a replacement that was exactly what I was looking for. This was a mediocre pedicure. My technician did a fine job on my toenails, but 1/2 of the experience is having callouses scrubbed and legs massaged. I was told my callouses were bad and that it would be an extra $5 to put on callous remover. She barely even tried to scrub some off. That's never been an issue before. And for the massage it wasn't very good and was very short. Typically a technician will help me put on flip flops when done, this didn't happen either. The chair back massager barely worked either. They had lots of polish colors to choose from and the facility seemed clean. I went to the salon around Valentine's, got the guy technician at the left end desk, he was rude and pretending he didn't understand what I was saying pushing my cuticle so hard that instead of been a relax time I came out so stress out because I had a whitlow that he kept pushing with his nail even though I told him that it was hurting. Famous Nails wasn't my usual nail salon, but I was in a pinch and dropped in one morning. The salon isn't packed, but does have a steady stream of customers in the mornings. I can only imagine that it gets busy in the afternoons. I got a gel manicure- perfectly shaped and the gel has lasted for 2 weeks and could probably go longer if I didn't have a big event coming up soon. First time that the gel didn't start peeling at the cuticles and I don't have to be annoyed about my hair getting caught in it in the shower! They have a really great selection of gel colors as well. I took a look at the dip colors though and there weren't too many- bummer. Hopefully their selection grows over time. Will definitely be back. read more

Recently moved to KC and needed a new nail tech, this is NOT the place to go. First off he used the same file on me as he did the person before which is super gross. Second, he completely ignored which shape I asked him to do and just made them square. Finally, he was on the phone the whole time and would get distracted and hit my finger with the file or just drop my hand to do something on his tablet, don't recommend this place at all. read more

visit started off good and on time with our appointment time. my daughter, who is 12 got dip without tips and usually can leave it on for 5 weeks without any breaks. Upon leaving, I was asked to use Venmo to pay. I agreed and scanned the QR code I was given. I showed the nail tech and he confirmed it was the correct one. once paid, he chased us out the door and said I paid the wrong salon. We spent a few minutes trying to recoup the money and he insisted that this salon will reimburse me. I repaid a different Venmo account and he said he got it. so at this time I have now paid $58 twice. The supposed other salon told me that they gave me the incorrect info and that was not their salon. Also Famous Nails advertises 15% off any service for children 14 and under. I asked about it and still did not get it. Advance to two days later and 2 of her nails have completely broken off. If you go DO NOT USE Venmo. I am pretty sure it was a scam. read more

I have been going here for nearly 20 years. The cleanliness has sharply gone down hill. The bathroom doesn't look like its been cleaned in weeks. I always go in and get a mani pedi, gel and the last few years, my daughter is old enough to come in with me for a manicure. The last three times we have been in, the owner has blown my daughter off, we have an appointment for her and she is the last one to get service. Sometimes waiting 2-3 hours while higher $$$ service customers and myself go first. He chewed her out telling her she can not do more than one color as children like to do in October. Was excited to get my manicure and dip, and pedi and gel. I dropped 100$ for these and walked out feeling very taken. Pedi and gel was fine. But mani... when does a place do a manicure and charge you another 5$ for cuticles??? Dip was applied and looks uneven, faded areas on my nails, last 2 clear coats were slapped on, (literally) there are areas on my nails that don't even shine. Dip was on my skin, under my nails. Fuzz on my nails, hang nails still present. Slight areas at the end of my nails that don't have coverage any more and it's still the same day. Won't be returning. horrible service. went in WITH AN APPOINTMENT asking for a simple nail design and couldn't even get it. he made it even more complicated by mixing up what we could and couldn't do. one of the people with me started and then a regular customer with NO APPOINTMENT showed up and moved my friend to the side and never finished her nails and worked on the other customer. very unhappy with that. took another 35 mins to get one person to finish my fiends nails and The pedicure was horrible as well it was probably 10 minutes long, the water wasn't hot, and overall just not good. DIRTY! Y'all. I have never been to a dirtier nail salon in my entire life. Where do I start? I walked in and I should have known, because behind the register was disgusting, stains everywhere and no organization. After I sat down I noticed the file that was being used had clearly been used for other people.. meaning there is zero sanitation happening at this salon. On top of that there was dust everywhere and the tech barely cleaned up between me and the person who got their nails done before me. I almost walked out about 10 minutes in. Then my nails were very rushed. At the end the tech filed my nails after the color was on and goes 'ok you're done!' There was a pile of dust sitting on my nails as I walked out the door . Save yourself a trip! I usually go to Signature Nail Spa (didn't have time for me today so I came here) and the cleanliness and service is night and day compared to this place. read more

I came to know Famous Nails after a friend recommended them to me. This is my "go-to" place for a nice simply pedicure. They do fancy pedicures also but I prefer the inexpensive, yet still delightful, basic service. I've watched carefully many times to verify they use new or disinfected items on me and yes, it's all clean. The staff is always really nice ( I really enjoy the detail & care that is taken by the middle aged man). I highly recommend you give Famous Nails a try. I decided to give them another chance and was equally disappointed. $57 for a non matching Mani and Pedi. The first thing I asked was to show me the colors they had matching gel polish and regular polish for (gel for mani and regular or pedi). I chose a color and still somehow ended up with non-matching colors. I questioned the color match during the pedi and but that didn't help get things back on track. I've been going here for 6 years and just think it's gone completely downhill. The polishes are old and use cheap brands of polish. read more
