I stumbled upon this salon a few months ago by doing a simple Google search of nail salons in Lawrence. It got a ton of 5 star reviews on Google so I'm very surprised to see the number of negative reviews on here, and am therefore leaving my review on here instead. The salon is tiny but functional. Its definitely not a fancy spa where I'd go to relax. But I come here because I can get a quality mani and pedi in a nice, clean environment. I highly recommend making an appointment for anything other than a simple polish change as they can get quite busy. I usually call in the morning and just take the first available appointment that day with whoever is available. I wear gel polish and it's always stayed on for at least 2 weeks. Anything past that and it bothers me so I remove it at home myself. All the employees are so nice and professional. The services provided is clean and of quality. Kayla does a stunning job! She took her time and didn't rush through. They turned out exactly like I wanted. I definitely recommend her. I went to the nail salon over by First Watch and literally was done in 20 minutes with nails that looked like they were run through a meat grinder. NOT DUCI NAILS! Wish I could give this place zero stars. It was the worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. The guy has no clue what he was doing. Didn't clean my nails after applying shellac. Had to ask him to remove excess polish from under my nails. Didn't know how to remove dip powder. Buffed my nailed so much they hurt/burned. Charged extra for callous removal on pedi and it's standard at other shops. He grossly coughed the entire time he did my nails and didn't know what he was doing when I had originally asked for the chrome powder. Took him forever to do my polish and my pedi as well. I am sitting in the nail salon with a friend now and we have been here since 4:45 and it is now 6:00, which is way too long for just a new set of acrylics. The man who started out doing her nails seemed to have no idea what he was doing. He kept changing the prices around when she was asking, had no idea how to shape her nails, she asked for them to be narrow with rounded edges and he made the short and square. when finished putting the polish on they were thick bumpy, and when she asked him to fix it he got defensive and said it was only because he hadn't put the top coat on. He ended up switching technicians and the new lady did a great job and fixed everything and even took the polish off and redid it. Overall i would give the lady who fixed it 5 stars... but the whole process overall was ridiculous, took too long, and frustrating. read more

The customer service was horrible and the lady who did my nails was talking about her boyfriend and how horrible he was the whole time. Not once did she stop talking about his drinking, smoking, fighting, etc. habits. Completely unprofessional. My dip nails were SO UNEVEN. They had "bubbles" in them and overall coat was awful. My cuticles were also bleeding when I left and after mentioning it she said it was "just my dry skin." Will not be returning. read more

I have been here before and had good experiences. I have also gone and had my gel polish removed. The last time I went it was $10 to have the gel removed. This time I had gel removed from my toes and my nails and she charged me $30. Her excuse for the large increase was that she trimmed my nails and they have some jagged spots . I could have done that myself. She didn't tell me there would be an additional charge for that nor did she put lotion on my hands or anything to make sense of the extra expense. Hands down the worst full set I've ever gotten. The man would put glue on my tips, get up and walk around, it would dry, then he would come back and drill it off my fingers. When trying to attach the tips after glue didn't work, he dipped it into the acrylic liquid and put it back onto my nail causing a reverse reaction and burning my nail. They are so thick and clumpy. I had polish all over my nails so I asked how to get it off and he replied with "just wash your hands" which didn't work obviously. He made a very rude remark saying "Is this your first time getting your nails done?" when I have been getting acrylics for years now. I would never refer anyone here. read more

It took over 30 minutes for one nail fix. The male worker left acrylic on the outside of my nail and on my cuticle. They charge seven dollars for one small nail. This is the only place I'll go to get my nails done! I used to do full acrylics every couple weeks with Kayla but I can't have fake nails because of my job now so I have stopped going recently. However, when I do go, I request Kayla and I know I will have a five star experience. It's calm and peaceful in there, there's a tech that must like panic! At the disco because it's always playing (and that's just fine by me!) and I always leave happy with my nails! I don't want to give them a bad review, because it seems to be a very nice couple who owns the place. However, I don't want to give them a good review because I was charged too much and didn't even end up with what I asked for. Their website says $30 for an acrylic full set with color polish. I had recently removed my previous acrylic nails, and had a tiny bit remaining in some of my nail beds. However, I had already filed them down, and the man doing my nails didn't do anything with them except file them down a little more while he was prepping my nails for the new acrylic set. It wasn't anything that any other nail salon hasn't done, and it didn't take extra time. I asked him for the coffin shape, and he didn't seem to know what I was talking about, so I showed him a photo. Once he got the tips and the acrylic on, it took him more than 30 minutes to shape and file my nails, and they definitely didn't end up being coffin-shaped (they're square-shaped). I got there at 4:00pm, and they didn't get done with my nails until 5:25. There was no reason for it to take that long. My nails were in good shape, and while I appreciated all the attention to detail when he was filing my nails, he didn't end up doing what I asked and it could've been done in half the time. When I went to pay, he said it was $40. I was already late for a dinner appointment since my nails had taken so long, so I didn't want to argue or ask why their website says $30 for a full acrylic set with color polish. When I looked at their website this morning to see why I was charged the extra $10, I couldn't figure it out. Longer nail length is $5+ and stiletto shape is $10+, but I didn't have either of those things. He didn't take off my acrylic nails (because I had already done that) and that would've been $15 anyway. So I really think they just charged me an extra $10 because they wanted to. The last thing I didn't like is that he trimmed my cuticles with the drill, and now a few of my cuticles are sore and red because he got too close to my skin. read more

Duci Nail: Lawrence, Kansas 23rd Street I went to Duci Nails around May 13th and got a regular pedicure with a design. I paid $31 just for the pedicure alone unless I was overcharged for it. I am very very upset with this place its only been 2 weeks since I got this pedicure and today is May 27th. So to start off with why I'm upset with this pedicure is pretty much all of the paint chipped off my big toe. They had 0 design choices they apparently choose them for you. I paid more than I should have for this pedicure. Also, the massage portion with the lotion was only 2 minutes long. The reason I'm bad reviewing this is because I went Overland Park Mall Nailery and there way busier than Duci Nails and they still did a better job with an amazing price of $20 for a paint, massage, and a design. I will never go here again and I'm more than disappointed. Do not go here if you want your pedicure to last you a month at least. Thank You for reading! read more

I agree that some of the services can take a long time, but that's because they are paying attention to detail and trying to do a good job. I have primarily received shellac mani and pedis here, and they have always looked great! It's hard to find a decent nail salon in Lawrence, but this is it! Just went in today, with my daughter, to get our nails done. Not happy. The nail technician made some of my cuticles bleed, my finished nails looked nothing like what I showed them I wanted, and they charged me extras for things they didn't tell me was extra. The staff is really nice though. And there are some nail technicians there that are really good! read more

If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. I went here for a fill, and to fix a broken nail. Previously I had gone to a different salon. Regardless of the fact that my nails where initially done somewhere else, the nail tech should still be competent and experienced enough to match the broken nail shape to the rest of them. I'm pretty confident that the only shape she could do was square by the look of her own nails, and I had coffin. I had to repeatedly instruct her on how to do things, even to the point where I just took the file from her to try and shape them myself. Extremely disappointed in my service. Normally I would go back to have someone else fix it, but I don't even want to have anyone else there touch them after that. I was supposed to get chrome and it was overheard that she wasn't quite sure how to. I left without color or any sort of polish. This is not school still and I am not a practice doll. I paid for a service, and I expect it to be done the way I like it. She also cut me pretty bad on 3 different fingers... I have pictures of what her "fill" looked like after filling and buffing. Terrible job. The shape is also what my previous nail tech did, not her. I feel like I really need to point that out, she deserves no credit. Just got my nails done today. I went in to have polish removed and new put on just a quick manicure. Did not have to clip nails or even shape them already done when I went in. The only plus about this nail salon is that is was clean, but it was extremely small. I made an appointment and drove 30 mins for this and we got to our appt and everything was fine, as soon as more people started coming in with an hour left of the store being open my nail guy started to rush. If I could give no stars I would. BEWARE OF DUCI NAILS!!!! THEY ARE UNSANITARY AND USE CHEAP PRODUCTS!!! I originally went here because they had such high ratings on google (all fake accounts I double checked). I went in and asked for a black matte stiletto shape with turquoise underneath. The guy there said he did not know how to do the nail polish underneath and had to add a special tip to get the same effect. He then pulled out a package of nail supplies that was in a sterile pack but had one end (the side you don't peel) open. He then pulled out a partially used file and shaped my nails with it (he used the end that wasn't all scratched up BUT USED none the less). He used a dirty Nail clippers to open a glue tube. He heavily layered on the acrylic THEN USED THE SAME PAIR OF CLIPPERS TO CUT MY NAIL TIP SHAPE! Then when it came to shaping my nails in the stiletto fashion he overfilled one side of my nail on all of my fingers, when I brought this to his attention he got upset with me and gave me the file to fix myself "Because we don't see the same". Then he had his wife (I assume that's who she is) polish my nails. I was so upset my nails looked so bad, they had at least and eighth of an inch of acrylic layered on my nail and my fingers were caked in it too. I told them I was upset and wanted my money back, at first they refused and I told them I took pictures of the awful job they did and would report them not only on social media but to the state as well. Then they told me they would void the transaction if I didn't "hurt their business". Then only reason I am ranting today is because he actually separated my nails from the skin in each corner of my thumbs (with his gross nails) after he applied the acrylic. I didn't notice until I went to another salon to get them fixed and the acetone stung the places he cut. They are disgusting and are only cheaply prices cause they don't know how to do a good job. read more

This was definitely maybe one of the worst shellac manicures I have ever received. I got in there and she immediately took the electric file/drill to trim my cuticles (I have never heard of this before). She went too far up, and about 3 of my cuticles started bleeding. I did not get asked what shape I wanted for my nails, and half of my nails are a different shape than the others. When it came time for the polish, she got it all over my skin and did not even go all the way up to my cuticle. I am terrible at painting nails but probably could have done a better job at home and saved $34. Also, she didn't even paint my whole nail. She left about 1/4 of the nail unpainted. I asked her to fix it, and she pretended that my nails were chipped there and that she could not do it. My skin around my nails was not cleaned up properly and it looks just as bad as when I first went in there. Do NOT read the Google reviews about this place. I have zero idea how they have 5 star reviews only on that page. Save yourself, and don't make the mistake I did, go to another nail salon than this one. I came in for a shallac manicure on a Sunday afternoon and I would say this was by far one of the worst shellac manicures I have ever gotten. I called for an appointment and was quoted 34 dollars. I arrived at my appointment on time and was directed to sit and soak off my current shallac polish. After waiting for about 15 minutes with my hands soaking in hot acetone, the lady finally came and scratched off my old polish WITH HER OWN NAILS. She then started giving me a manicure with tools that still had residue of other people's skin on them. After she finished the manicure, she had me put my hands in the warm glove thingie and said she will be right back, and went on to work on somebody's pedicure. I sat and waited for another 15 minutes for her to come back and do the polish. She was rushing and only had me put my hands under the light for about 30 seconds for each layer. She also didn't even bother to clean up the polish that went on my skin and cuticles. The shellac looked clunky and messy. After she was done, I went to pay and the guy said its a total of 37. I told them I was quoted 34 on the phone and she said its extra because she had to take off my old polish for me and plus I asked for an accent nail (different color on the ring finger). She said it was supposed to cost more than that and she's giving me a discount. She didn't tell me those would cost extra when I asked. Also, I've gotten my nails done at many different places in KC and the removal and accent nail have always been included. Not that the 3 dollars really matter, but it would be nice if they have posted prices and not just change prices when they feel like it. Usually when I get good shallac done I can usually make it last at least 2-3 weeks. Now it's been only 9 days and the shallac has started peeling. :( read more

I went in today for a gel polish, and received some very interesting service. They asked me to pick a polish color, and then promptly told me that they were out of the one I chose. I may be wrong, but shouldn't they offer some sort of discount if the only polish color you want is not in the store? So I pick a new color, and the man sits me down, and uses the rough thing to file my nails, but misses my nails several times, scratching my skin. I look down, and one of my fingers was bleeding! I currently have a scab. Several other fingers were scratched but didn't bleed, and when they were painted they burned quite a bit. The man didn't say one word. Then, he tells me to go wash my hands, and when I get back, he's talking on the phone. He steps outside, and doesn't say a word or even look at me to apologize. I sat in the chair for ten minutes before another woman came over to finish my manicure. The man walked back in after fifteen minutes, and acted surprised that I hadn't just waited for him. worst place to ever get your nails done, they were so rough doing my nails and filed my cuticles so hard they burned after, as well as cut me by getting to close to the cuticle with the drill, sean has no idea what he is doing and tried to keep getting me to pay more by telling me "gel is better regular doesnt last long gel is better" not only this the picture i showed him he said he couldn't put rinestones on matte ( which is a lie ive had matte nails with rinestones before) and they could only with gel saying "so you want gel?" to which i said no, he said he couldn't do the design i showed him that was a simple rose but he could do a difffernt one that just looked like a dot with lines around it not like a rose but it had already been 1hr 30 min so i said that was fine, once he finished their was acrylic on my cuticle and the nail polish sucked and looked like i needed a fill after a day because he didnt fill them in enough. he asked another employee if they could do the design and they did it, the design was decent so i thougnt whatever its only $30 so i asked him how much it was and he said it was $55! i said it should be $30 and he said the design and the shape was extra! they failed to tell me this till after they finished!!
