I had been growing my hair out for months and was anxious when looking for a new hairstylist, but when I sat down with Lacy and explained what I was going for she made me feel like I had come to the right place. I asked for a wolf cut and not only did she give me one but she helped me understand my goals of growing it out longer and what that should look like. The day after I look at myself in the mirror and I'm proud of the way my hair looks! Thank you for such a blessing Lacy! read more

I always enjoy the hour or so I spend with Megan, my stylist, at Static Hair Salon. She takes pride in her work, as well she should, because it's excellent. You should see her beautiful collection of shears. She never rushes anyone and is a delightful conversationalist. She's up to date with the latest trends, and even though I've been going to her for years, she is always conscientious. And fun. I've never seen her the least bit grumpy. read more

As a girl with a pixie cut, I'm really cautious about who I let come near my hair with a pair of scissors. I finally had to choose a salon in Lawrence, because driving back to western KS became impractical. I took a chance with Static, and I was very pleased! The atmosphere is very inviting, and the staff are nice and are good conversationalists. (Free coffee and green tea are also a plus!) Debbie cut my hair and waxed my brows, and she did a fantastic job. The people here care about their work and are great at what they do. I would recommend them! read more

Static Hair Salon - A cut by Debbie. Cropped pixie, super short sides, stacked in the back. - Hair Salons Near Me - Lawrence, Kansas

Rude! Terrible service! Burned my scalp under the dryer! Bad color job...! Terrible uneven hair cut! Beware! They don't care about customer relations at all! read more

After a couple of tragic haircut experiences, I'm a little hesitant to get my hair cut...regularly anyhow. That being said, what a GREAT experience! Jodi asked questions, looked at hairstyle examples, and made sure to let me know what she was doing and why. I will be recommending this location, and her to everyone I know! read more

OK, first, background. I've been looking for someone to cut my hair in Lawrence for six years. I admit, I was totally spoiled. I had been going to the same hair dresser for several years in my hometown (Pittsburg, Kansas), and she totally got me. When I went through my rebellious, red-haired teenage phase, she was there. When I became a less-willing-to-go-crazy young professional she was there. That being said, I've gotten haircuts in Lawrence that have made me cry--and I'm not a crier. Enter Jen at Static. Not only does my hair look awesome--which, if I may say so, it does--she was awesome. She explained step-by-step how to style my new cut, discussed exactly which products she was using and why, and generally seemed to love her job and be really up on hair. I believe this will be the beginning of a long, happy new relationship! read more

Jen is a miracle-worker. I walked in not knowing exactly what I wanted, but having a vague idea. Somehow Jen read my mind and gave me exactly what I wanted! She also showed me how to achieve the look I want on a day-to-day basis and made it super simple for me since I have such a busy schedule. My hair was long and extremely damaged. It's also fine and curly, but the curls will disappear if you brush them, pull on them, or look at them the wrong way. Basically I've spent my 21 years thinking I was destined to have flat, lifeless hair. Not so. First of all, Jen cut off all the damaged ends (hallelujah!) which made a huge difference. Then she put in laters that blend beautifully together so it doesn't look like I have multi-level hair. These layers gave my hair actual volume. It's insane. And she showed my how to work with my curls so that they'll stay all day without going frizzy and flat. Overall, it's a really friendly atmosphere, the price is reasonable, and Jen made me feel right at home. She knows her stuff and was able to help me achieve the look I wanted. And just by watching some of the other stylists work, I can tell they know their stuff too; everyone I saw while I was there walked out looking FANTASTIC! I definitely look forward to going back. I'm thinking some color may be in order now... read more

Jen is fantastic; you can really trust her with your hair. She knows True Beauty inside and out. Jen listens. Jen totally concentrates on *you.* The salon, overall, is very comfortable, stylish, and friendly. Valerie keeps things running smoothly. read more

I've been seeing Jen for nearly 3 years now, and she is a goddess. I don't even live in Lawrence anymore - thankfully the drive from Olathe isn't far - but I wouldn't dream of finding another stylist or salon. All of the staff at Static are ridiculously friendly (Zeke at the front desk makes my day and is always super helpful in getting me in to see Jen), the atmosphere is so hip and fun, and I always walk out of there feeling great. I cannot praise this place enough. read more

I've been going to Static for several years and am always satisfied. For a midwestern salon, it's a little on the pricey side, but every single staff member has always been friendly and helpful. Significantly, I've never had a bad experience and am consistently pleased with my hair when I leave. If I have a question or concern, the staff is always very helpful and accommodating. They want you to be happy! read more

I love getting my hair done and since I moved over to the east side of town, I have been looking for somewhere closer. I know Jodi outside of the salon and she is an awesome person! She exceed my expectations. I was darker before, but missed my blonde. I left feeling like myself again and very satisfied. She's very relatable, knows her colors and is not afraid to give suggestions. I will definitely be going back to her for my future hair needs. read more

UPDATE: Jen, my stylist, emailed today to apologize for my experience. She wanted to do something to make up for it, but as I live in Los Angeles and don't make it back to Lawrence very often, that doesn't seem likely. But it was nice that she responded & I wanted to make it known that she did try to remedy the situation. I will bump my rating up a star to three due to this. read more

My mother and I were on the search for a new salon when we came across Static Hair Salon. Tucked away on Pennsylvania Street in this beautiful refurbished home is the salon. The Salon has a very artsy, with a laid back comfortable vibe. Everyone was extremely pleasant and their interactions with their clients was as if they were family. We saw McKenzie and Jodi, we cannot say enough about them. They listened to what we wanted and delivered. They were confident, and knowledgeable in their delivery. They also were very sweet and and had good personalities. They gave us exactly what we were looking for, we left feeling extremely happy we went there. I also wanted to say the receptionist is super sweet. He is really helpful, kind and had the best personality. One thing that is really important about this salon that I noticed, pretty much everyone was nice. I would definitely suggest going here, my hair sure looks great, yours can too! Thank you McKenzie and Jodi! read more

I went through a few years of bottom-dollar haircuts in Lawrence, then tried a referral from a friend to go to a high-end, upstairs salon space. The space was quaint, but the cuts just weren't, well, cutting it. After finding Static here on Yelp, I scheduled an appointment with Taylor. Right from the first time, she has been an excellent stylist and an earnest and enjoyable person to talk to. I've been going back to taylor for over two years now, and now that my friend (who I also referred to Taylor) and I are leaving town, I think that giving her a glowing review is the least I could do. I'm sure that the other stylists are plenty good, but my experience with Taylor has been so consistently rewarding that I need to name her in specific. The salon itself is clean, eclectic, comfortable (complementary coffee from Henry's across the street), and accommodating of last-minute scheduling. This is the first salon that I have found that really exceeded my expectations in every way. [Insert obligatory "a cut above" pun here.] read more

Not a good experience for me. I went in for ombre and hair cut. The hairdresser was knowledgeable but the outcome of her work was a disaster. Terrible hair cut, uneven and dead ends still visible. When it came to combing out my hair she grabbed a brush and starting hacking away at my head, breaking hair and not giving a damn. She only brushed the sides and a strip of the top but not the back and THEN HID THE KNOTS UNDERNEATH THE COMBED PART. Like I wouldn't notice! Then sent me away with wet hair. Lost a $100. Not worth it. I went to another salon which did a marvelous job. read more

Debbie is so talented and caring! She has made one of the best haircuts I have ever had. Would recommend her to everyone.

Go to Andiy. She's awesome! She cuts a precise bob, a creative short mens cut, and she specializes in extensions. She's a very smart, skilled, hairdresser. I agree with the other reviewer: this place is hip, which also makes it surprising that everyone is so sweet. read more

I love this salon! I have been going to Kevin Shutts for more that six years, and he never puts me in a rut! Roxanne the owner is awesome as well. If you are new to town and looking for a top quality stylist, this is a great salon to try! read more

I moved from NYC to Lawrence about 6 months ago and have had my hair cut only twice here since. The first time I visited another salon downtown that I enjoyed but I wanted to shop around a few times before I decided where I wanted to pledge my loyalty. I read some great reviews about Jen at Static Hair Salon and decided to make an appointment for a very short haircut about a few weeks back. I had very long hair and I wanted a fresh, new, edgy cut that required little maintenance. Jen gave me exactly that! The appointment didn't take very long, but also didn't feel rushed. I am so happy with my new cut and I plan to return to Jen again soon for some color! Thank you, Jen! read more

I wish Jessi could do my hair everyday. I always get a great cut and color at Static, and they are so nice! Static has a hip atmosphere, good prices, and most importantly they do a fantastic job with hair. My husband and a bunch of our friends go here too. They listen to what you want, but they are up on what the latest trends are. I also really like the products they use, the color makes my hair feel really silky, and nothing has that chemical smell of some hair salons. read more

A great, great experience all round at Static! Jen is really a talented stylist! She listened to my thoughts and wants, threw in some of her own ideas, and the results are fabulous. I think she takes the time to get to know the type of hair she's working with which makes such a difference. We did a trim and shape-up, some ombré color, and a gloss overall. Jen was super knowledgable about the products Static offers and sent me home with a curl defining spray and a dry oil sample which I LOVE, it's amazing! The ombré color is simply beautiful (if I say so myself ;) and the cut is stylish and easy to wear. The overall ambience of the salon is chic but friendly, and Wendy at the front desk is so sweet. So happy to have found my new salon home in Lawrence!! read more

KU student and just needed a quick trim. Really cool place, and as opposed to the green room, they got me in the same day as I called. Service was friendly and I loved the cut. Taylor cut my hair and was polite and knew exactly what I wanted! Highly recommended. read more

I went here twice and was not very happy with the color I got, so the owner had stylist Taylor fix it for me for free. She did an AMAZING job and was so great to talk to! She even curled my hair for me as a surprise reveal when it was finished. Very highly recommend her!! The salon also has an awesome vibe, everyone was so nice. read more

I am new to Lawrence and was super nervous picking out a new salon. I ended up at Static because of the great reviews, and it was such a great call! I was especially nervous this time because I was planning to donate my hair, so I was going to cut off 12 inches. Add on the fact that I am horrible at describing what I want to do to my hair. However, my stylist, Kevin, knew exactly what I wanted and did an awesome job! I was the last client of the night, which I usually try to avoid because I have had experience with stylists rushing to get me out the door. But, Kevin took his time to make sure it was a fantastic final result. I think he ended up spending somewhere around an hour and 15 minutes with me. Overall, it was a great experience. The salon itself was extremely clean and professional. And, as a little perk, the sinks that they wash your hair in are amazing. This was the first time I have ever had my hair washed at a salon without getting a painful crick in my neck. I highly recommend Static (and Kevin), and I will definitely be back. read more

Jen is terrific! She has excellent taste, and in addition to that she's excellent at communicating with you so that you're both on the same page. After 21 years of having long hair (always just blunt-cut so it's all the same length), I went to her and said: give me sexy! Oh, she gave me sexy alright-- I now have to put my hair in a ponytail if I don't want to get checked out too much. ;) Then I went to her to get it colored-- perfect job, as always. I got exactly what I pictured in my head before coming to Jen. She's sweet, to boot. GO TO JEN read more

I enjoy going to Static because I feel pampered every time. I have long hair and I'm especially protective of it after spending years dodging hair stylists who wanted to cut it off. I don't have to worry about it at Static. They're all really nice there and it helps they have a punch card program so after you've gotten 10 haircuts, you can get one free. The place isn't cheap, I spend around $50-60 including tip each time I'm there for a trim, so the card is a nice treat. I'm trying to get my partner to switch over to going to this salon rather than going to Super Cuts since they're growing their hair out, but so far the price of Static is the only thing holding them back. read more

I have lived in LA and DC and have found NO ONE, NO ONE like Roxanne. I only wish I didn't have to buy a plane ticket to see her :(

I have gone to Roxanne for about 13 years. She is amazing. Her salon has a wonderful atmosphere. I would highly recommend for great results. Tell her what you want and she will make it happen. I moved to Lawrence several years ago and I still go to Lawrence to see her. read more
