The salon was empty yet the man rushed my pedicure where I felt like I couldn't even relax. The callus removal was a joke. The water was prefilled when I walked in and Luke warm at best. The cleaning of the cuticles and nails was not in depth. Very disappointed. read more

DO NOT go there. Just tried a new, to me, nail salon in Lawrence, Lux Nails. I watched my nail tech go from the lady next to me, to me, and he used the same equipment on me that he used on her. The same fingernail file and dremel attachments were used on the first lady. The clippers came from a box marked, permanently with vinyl, "dirty." I expressed my concerns to him and all of a sudden his English wasn't so good. So, I spoke with the manager about it and she obviously didn't care either. I tried to handle the matter there, and in the proper way but got nowhere so I can at least warn others about the place. Sanitation must NOT be important in that shop. read more

First time I ever cried after getting my nails done. If the service I wanted I couldn't get because they didn't have the technique for I WOULDVE CHANGED IT TO SOMETHING EASIER. but really??!!! Went and got my toes done, pretty easy to do. Asked them not to cut my toes but they proceeded to cut the sides of it. When one of the ladies was filing, I had asked to keep them straight. She went ahead and did them and pulled out the gel. I checked my toes and they weren't straight! I told her she needed to fix it and she started having an attitude and was aggressively filing causing my skin to break. If my toes can't look decent I can't imagine what my hands would look like. I do not recommend this place at all, I've tried to come back multiple times and it's just not it. Nail nook is the place to go. By the way Lux nails charges way too much for the job they do. If they did better I'd be okay with the price. Almost 200$ for a gel mani and gel toes. I've gotten both with acrylic mani and gel toes for way less and better applicants. read more

Recommend here by a friend, LOVED the service fast and friendly. Had an appointment at 1pm and as soon as I got there they were ready for me. They gave me exactly what I wanted got so many compliments on them. She got them done pretty fast (35mins, usually for a full long set my other nail tech took an hour) I wish I got her name! And another girl was helping with my nails. I called around because I needed my nails done very specific, with the play boy logo for an event and they definitely came through! Highly recommend and will continue to recommend I really wish I got the name of the lady who did my nails (I will say I am very picky about how I want my nails or anything for that matter so I do make all the stops $$$$) my nails were on the pricy side but counting for the speed and other services I don't mind the price read more

Let me preface by saying this was my second mani pedi ever so I am no expert when it comes to these things. The overall experience was nice, as I got the chatty guy who did my nails so it was fun talking with him. Most of the other ladies doing nails did not say a word. I just let him do his thing since I didn't know what was happening. I wish I would've gotten a design on my nails instead of just a straight color but oh well. Or wish someone would've told me that was a option lol since I am a noob. It's been a couple days and nothing has chipped. The gel was sticking out on a couple places but that's ok. I like that they clean the gunk from your nail if you have any lol. The bad thing is that it cost $67 which in my opinion is out of this world expensive but I don't know the normal cost for these things so I can't compare but overall it was a fun experience! read more

The building is always clean. The employees are always super nice and make sure you leave happy. They accept walk in appointments, same day appointments (if available) or scheduling way ahead. The employees always treat you with respect, create conversation and it's like they're your friends. It was my birthday on Jan. 19th and Sa hooked me up and did a surprise on my nails. I love the building and how sanitary the business is. If I move, I wouldn't mind making the drive to LFK to see my favorite nail tech, Sa Phan is my nail tech.! She's amazing! read more

New to the area (coming from East coast) and was looking for somewhere to keep up with my nails. Took a chance on this spot. It's pretty big with lots of stations for manis and pedis and a huge color selection. The place is also pretty clean and organized. All the employees are really nice (guess it's that Midwest courtesy). The guy who did my nails did a good job, although I wasn't familiar with his technique for dip powder. My only gripe is that for $50 (with tax and tip) I didn't get the usual cleaning of cuticles and nails and the lotion, mini hand massage, etc that usually comes with a mani. On the east coast for dip, the whole service would've been about $40 + tip with all the extras included. Not sure why others are complaining. I did see an "under new management" sign, not sure how long it's been up but if you were disappointed or skeptical before, give this place a try. I'll be going back. read more

NEVER EVER GO HERE. After making an appointment to get manicures we waited an entire hour to be helped and ended up being there for more than two hours total. No one was welcoming or accommodating in the slightest. We were provided the bare minimum and upcharged for random things that were not explained. Massage was less than par, but overall a good experience! AMAZING nail salon!! I called an hour ahead for 2 manis + pedis. We arrived on time and were promptly shown to the nail colors and pedicure chairs. Despite being fairly busy, the services were EXCELLENT. I had my toes done by one man and my nails done by a woman. All the staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable. The experience was extremely pleasurable and the results were fantastic. The prices were more than fair. They accept cash and Venmo for tips, which was very convenient for me as I rarely have cash on me. As an out- of-towner, I highly recommend Lux Nails for any nail needs!!! read more

When I showed what I wanted the original person serving was super nice but if they couldn't do the service I was asking for just tell me. instead that had a different person do my nails who was clearly frustrated doing the service and was pulling on my hand in frustration and service was rushed. Worst nail salon experience of my life. Simple dip with tips, it seemed like the nail techs first day on. He couldn't fit the tips to my nails, every time he tried to file the tips they popped off or lift. He was rushing so much he cut a chunk of my pointer finger with scissors while trying to trim one of the tips. Drawing PLENTY of blood. Zero apology from the nail tech. Got the tips removed and immediately left. Establishment was not very clean. Friend sitting next to me also had issues with the tips popping off due to poor application. I got Dip nails in Pink on regular nail. The nails are cute, and they did it very quickly. She shaped my nail to circular shape. The reason it is a three star is because the main lady who did my nails seemed to have a hard time understanding English. I asked if they had tap pay with my phone and showed her the Apple pay. She first said yes, but then when I got to the front to pay, she said they DO NOT HAVE APPLE PAY. luckily I paid with Venmo. But the other thing that was annoying is that it was supposed to be 44 dollars and she charged $3 dollars for shaping. Would think that shaping would be included in the price because they wouldn't NOT shape it. This seems like a hidden fee. The student discount is also only $2 dollars. I have yet to be disappointed with my two visits since this place has undergone new management and a new store name (not that I was disappointed before). Both times I ended up with Eric doing my nails, once while pregnant, and once a few months post pregnant. He takes his time and does a wonderful job. The first time I just had him paint my nails purple. Nothing fancy. But he made sure the water for the pedicure was good, the pressure for the massages of the hands and feet were good, and made sure I knew what the services where, what the prices were, and steered me in the right direction between an organic and a nonorganic pedicure. He definitely wasn't trying to rip me off. The second time I went in, I requested a tedious design on all of my nails for my mani and my pedi. He made sure I was well taken care of. And he took his time with making the dots on my nails look good. I appreciate that he didn't try to rush me, despite that after the pedi and before the mani, business started picking up. read more

Worst nail salon I've ever been to. First time getting my nails done in Lawrence I was hesitant and I shouldn't have even gone. Nail tech was rushing and made my finger bleed... like a lot. I will start by saying I'm from NY, and it's been very hard to find a salon here in Kansas. Today I got a "fancy" pedicure with the added paraffin wax for $43, and gel nail polish was an additional 10. A woman named Trang did my pedicure, and she massaged my calves and feet for quite some time. I'm very grateful to say the least.
