The salon is spotless (including the bathroom!) and the employees (and the clients!) were very polite and friendly. My hands and feet look and feel great! I was a walk in on a Monday afternoon and was lucky enough to have Mel give me a pedicure. I decided on the organic white tea special and it was wonderful. Mel was so gracious and took her time. She gives a great massage and my toes and heels look fantastic! She doesn't rush you and attends to your every need. The salon is very clean and they have comfortable chairs and a variety of services available. They offer water or wine to drink and it was a great, quiet and relaxing time. I will preface by saying I only got a pedicure here while my friends all got manicures. They were all very pleased with the attention to detail and the price they paid for the manicure. The pedicure was not quite the same experience. It was a little more than I would usually pay for a pedicure and nothing overly impressive or out of the ordinary. It was a quick in and out basic pedicure. So it seems like this is the place to go for manicures, but pedicures may not be what they like to do. read more

I have gone here occasionally over the past few years and always have a nice experience. The staff is friendly and kind. They always make sure you are happy with the nail shape and color as they go. I have only ever gotten a regular polish manicure but they always do a nice job and it usually will stay looking nice for up to a week. The staff is very accommodating to what you are looking for and searched for a matte top coat for me. The atmosphere is calming and there is nice natural lighting in the space. I always enjoy coming to The Nail Bar and hope to return more often! I would say the pricing for their services are pretty average for a nail salon and are worth it overall. read more

I alwaysssss get nude acrylic nails and then a cute design. First red flag was they didn't have nude acrylic. but im super desperate at this point since my nails are so over grown. i've never had nails this ugly in my entire life, i know he tired his best. but they could've just told me they couldn't do what i wanted. i got a cut on my thumb that hurts super bad from the nail drill. Now i've wasted 45$ and a few hours or my time. Super disappointed and very unsatisfied. This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a nail salon. This was my first time at this salon and the entire appointment was rushed from start to finish. They gave me minimal time to pick out a color from the hundreds they have, so I panicked and picked a random color. I was seated next to the color wall and noticed they did that to every client who spent more than 1 minute looking for a color. So if you decide to come here be prepared to feel rushed choosing a color. My appointment was for both a mani and a pedi. I opted for the deluxe pedicure which was very good and the only reason I didn't give 1 star. I was seated for the pedicure and a second tech came up to me, handed me a pillow, and started working on my hands. I understand the need for efficiency, since every chair was full at the salon, but the attempt to paint my fingernails while the other tech was massaging my legs resulted in a sloppy manicure. I would have preferred to wait for an open manicure table just to ensure that my fingers would actually turn out decent. Also, the order in which he painted my fingers was so random that one finger has 5-6 coats of polish while another has only 2 (I have included photos to show this). The color I was rushed into choosing was a very light color, so the differing amount of coats is very noticeable. The polish is also lumpy on the nail bed and unclean around the cuticle. He filed some of my nails down to the quick and buffed my natural nails very roughly, leaving my fingers nicked and skin sore. After applying the polish, I guess in an attempt to clean up the mess, he took a file to the side of my nails and eventually brought out a dremel to use around the edges which caused more pain than was helpful. This manicure was outrageously expensive for me to leave with nails that look worse than when I do them myself. I would have asked them to fix it but I was in so much pain from the filing and dremeling. I will have to wait for my nails to grow and skin to heal before going to a trusted salon to have them fix this. Again, my pedicure experience was wonderful, but I would think twice about getting a manicure here. read more

Really bad visit from start to finish. Asked for a stiletto shape, received weird candy corn like shapes that were all different lengths. Nail tech was very rough even after I told him several times he was hurting me. I was bleeding on several fingers, and he made no effort to avoid filing back over that sensitive skin. Had to have him fix one ridiculously crooked nail tip to begin with, and his solution was to just rip off the freshly glued tip, taking a good bit of my natural nail with it. Worst experience. Walked in at 5:40 or so, and asked for a mani, pedi, & eyebrow wax. Signed in/signed up for their online marketing/appointment assuming that the app would be read. It wasn't but no worries. The trouble began when I put my feet into the water and the water was so hot that it had to be adjusted several times. I take showers as hot as the water heater will allow, but this was insanely hot. So much so that they were lobster red when I took them out of the water. I'm not sure if this irritated the gent who was helping me, but my pedicure was beyond lackluster. My feet weren't exactly exfoliated, the polish, I could have done at home - it's missing in places and forget a cuticule trim. (I stand up for a living, and walk several miles per day. I'm hard on my hands & feet, & seldom pamper them, so they needed work.) He barely rubbed the scrub on my legs, wiped them off, and no massage. (Which, lets face it, this totally makes the experience!!) We move over to the table and I get my nails done, a dip. I'm happy with the color, but again, very inconsistent. This took 45 minutes or so. As I'm being worked on, a lady leaves extremely agitated because her work wasn't completed timely enough. She didn't even get her toes done, just a polish removal, after sitting for almost an hour. After we've finished, I remind them again that I need my brows done, and they say no. It's after 7pm, & the lady - only person who can do them was with another customer. I was told that they were closed, and to come back another day. Sorry, no. I wish I had gone elsewhere for these services as they were a treat to myself after an accomplishment. Instead, I wasted $88 that I'll never get back. Please don't go here. read more

Tom is my preferred artist. Yes, I call him an artist, because of you have ever had a bad job before you know there is an art form to doing the nails, providing great customer service and managing expectations. Way way WAY too expensive for what they offer. This place is a small nail salon (6 chairs for nails, 6 for toes) - it's not special in any way. There was nothing about it that could warrant their $43 price tag for a gel manicure (Including tip) Service wise, my manicure was rushed to the point that the tech made me anxious. The polish job itself was just ok. It lasted the full two weeks, but it started lifting on the third or forth day. This place has plenty of polish colors but they aren't organized in any kind of way. I had An on 3/29 and she did not do a good job at all. I am one who hates to complain however, she rushed the entire time, left my acrylics very bumpy, did not go to the back of my nail on 3, and was just grumpy. I asked her to file the same nail twice because I wasn't satisfied with the shape and she said it was the same as the other.. it's still not correct, I just got tired of asking. This is my 3rd experience with Nail Bar on Velma. The first time I went in an employee lead me to a chair where water was running in the foot bowl. I assumed she was still cleaning it. The top was covered in foamy, greasy scum. She instructed me to have a seat. I left. Against my better judgement, I went back in after talking with the owner. My pedicure was average at best. Because of location, I went back. I had a fabulous experience. Ruth did my pedicure. The establishment had been awarded Best of the Best from the local paper the night before. Everyone was upbeat. They were serving champagne and cake. Loved it. I made sure to keep Ruth's name in mind so I could return in a few weeks. So now for today. It only takes me 5 minutes to walk over. I called at 10:00 to make an appointment with Ruth. Remember her from my second visit? Love her. She did the best job on my toes I've had done in a while. I asked to make an appointment with RUTH. The person on the phone asked my name and what time I would like to come in. So everything's good. I'm happy. Can't wait to Ruth. I walked in the door at 10:36. Was greeted immediately. When I told her I had an appointment with Ruth, she told me Ruth wasn't working today. So maybe it's not that big of a deal, but when I go out of my way to make a specific appointment with a specific person, that is what I want. So 3 tries. One great experience. The other 2, not so much. There are too many other choices in town for me to take that chance again. read more
