Cool place. We didn't really get to experience this place at its best, but I liked it anyway. We literally walked in as the poor guy was turning on the music and the OPEN light, at 11:00am. As it turns out, they had hosted a "local's only" party the night before...it must have been a lot of fun :) Anyway- we bought a few growlers of some really good beer from a really nice guy at a really cool place. I have been in the area for about 2 years and been here three times. The first two were wonderful great selection, and I felt like I had really good service. But unfortunately today I went in to listen to some live music not realizing that they had changed their policy to no children which is totally fine, but the way whoever was running the place at the moment approached me was completely unacceptable. He was extremely rude. It was very embarrassing. As a owner I can't believe you would treat a guest that way. My little was with me the whole time and very well behaved. If I would have been approached a nicer manner I would not even be leaving this review. I am super bummed because I really liked this place. What a win for Sunriver. Exclusively pouring Central Oregon taps, with 12 to choose from (one cider) it'll be the tastiest decision you have to make all day. After one of the owners pours your pint, choose from outdoor/indoor, couch or even seating at a free old-school dueling video game console. The music is good and the prices fair. Beer to go? They fill growlers and have three large coolers full of bottles. These folks know their beer, and continue to brew via 10 Barrel. Do yourself a favor and make this a bike ride destination. read more

This place still has perfect atmosphere and great beer selection. One star removed because each time I've been here, the beer isn't quite cold enough. By the time we make it to our chairs in the sun and have a few sips, it's obvious it won't stay cool much longer- which means the bottom half of my beer is always warm. Sad because there's nothing better than a cold beer (s) in the sun. And wait... no more minors allowed? Daaaang. That's 1/2 the reason to stop in during a family bike ride. read more

Found this place via Yelp. I am a huge supporter of local businesses and this place did not disappoint. The owner was very knowledgeable of all the local beers and has some great reccomendations. I loved the mellow atmosphere with the option to pick your tunes from a hefty selection of records on one of the walls. Needless to say I will be back. read more

Absolutely love this place! Great beer, great atmosphere and a short bike ride from the Village

If you only stop at one bar in Sunriver, this is the one. They don't have food, but they have 20 beers on tap and 5,000 LPs. Rule is, if somebody plays a record, you can't change it until the side is over. Not a place to get drunk... they close at 7:00... but it's good for your soul. Beertenders are super knowledgeable, and they have a nice bottle selection of super obscure foreign brews. Rad outdoor seating, Ms Pac-Man and Galaga (sit down style), couple couches... awesome, awesome spot. read more

Great small "growler fill" location outside of Sunriver. The options that are available are unique and it is always nice to have something that isn't the comment Domestic. They have arcade games and a cool outdoor seating area. Their is also a wall full of old vinyl and their is always good music playing read more

What can I say (or what does this say about us) just rolled into Sunriver for vacation... our first stop... literally... Mountain Jug to fill the growler... is there any other way to start vacation?! Nope! We love this place! Owner/operator guy is super friendly & knowledgeable... happy to offer samples or answer any questions. Excellent beer selection, both on tap & in the coolers. Reasonable prices... growler fill on our higher ABV stout was $14. We've yet to stay for a beer, however, the atmosphere is certainly comfortable enough. Pleased to see a business like this in Sunriver which has as a whole grown pretty long in the tooth... previously we would've trekked into Bend for our brew-haha. read more

Stopped by The Mountain Jug today, and was pleasantly surprised. The owner was very helpful in finding the beers that suited our tastes. There was a good selection of quality brews. Had a couple of pints while the owner chilled our growler. Kids had a great time playing video games while we relaxed after a trip into the lava caves. Sitting at home right now enjoying a beer from my growler. Will definitely be back! read more

Mountain Jug is a perfect growler fill station by Sun River/Caldera. I've been a customer since they opened and go every time I'm in the area - the owner is a nice guy and seems very passionate. They Always have a great variety of local brews and he has knowledge of them all. Small taste samples are available. The prices are a few dollars more then straight from the breweries in town but it's well worth the 30+ mile round trip drive for convenience. I highly recommend. read more

We got empty growlers to take to this place through the Village Properties, and couldn't have been more appreciative that they put them on our radar. The owner is super friendly, will let you sample the beers on tap - which you will definitely want to do, and has a great selection. The atmosphere is perfect with a few tables, a couch, and an outside bar area. Also, there's a food truck parked on the side with delicious options, and the Mountain Jug will let you eat there with your beer since they don't serve food. We stopped in after a long bike ride, and this place was absolutely perfect. We'll go here every time we're in town. read more

I am writing about what I consider to be a disturbing incident with Mark, the owner of the Mountain Jug in Sunriver, Oregon. I was there yesterday evening and ordered a beer to take outside due to COVID restrictions. I sat down across from a lady and we began to talk about the COVID situation. She told me that she did not know anyone who had it and told her of the one person that I know that had and they stated that they had colds that were worse. A statement of fact mind you, NOT Opnion! I usually add when talking to anyone about this that I know and have heard of people dying from COVID. That is what makes it scary, a person doesn't know how they are going to be effected until they contract it. However, I didn't get that far. Mark decided to stick his big fat nose into what I thought was I private conversation between me and this lady and told me to drink my beer and leave! He said he'd also refund my money. So, he came out with my money and I offered to throw the beer on him. He then offered to call the police if I did. I then drank what was left of it in front of him as he told me I was not welcomed there anymore! I told him as I was leaving and to stick my money where the sun don't shine, but I wasn't that nice with my language. First of all, he had no business butting into a conversation on which he was eavesdropping and did not let me finish! Secondly, he was very wrong in assuming and coming to conclusions about how I actually feel about COVID! Thirdly, he doesn't have to like what people who patronize his establishment have to say in the course of casual conversation anyway, and there are bound to be points of view where he is not going to be in agreement! Patrick Henry said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend to the Death your right to say it"! Mark may have agreed with me anyway if I had been allowed to finish my conversation without his rude, knee-jerk interruption in feeling like he needed to butt into my conversation that he was not meant to be included in in the first place! If he's going to treat his patrons in the matter in which he treated me then he doesn't Deserve ANY!! read more
