I've eaten here twice, once when they first opened and today, about 3 weeks (?) from then. Both times, the servers were very polite and the tables were clean. The entire ambiance of the place is amazing. The first time I went, they were still figuring out the food a little bit, but I can guarantee you they've worked out all the bugs. It was amazing! I had the not-chicken-pot-pie and carrot tomato vermicelli bowl and both dishes were delicious. Terrific stuff! Following a long wait (my own fault, it was late in the morning), the four of us sat down to some delicious coffee with a bit of almond milk. We ordered the faux crab cakes (spicy!), the tofu blt (delicious) and some really smashing spaghetti. The meatballs were to die for; just the right texture and very, very flavorful. To top it off, we shared a peanut butter and chocolate milkshake, and it was great as well. This is such a cute spot with great vegan food. It was busy and full, but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, which was pretty good for 6pm! It was so hard to decide what to order, but I had the spaghetti and 'meatballs' which was SO delicious and filling (a little spicy, which was a fun twist). I ended up ordering a 'not-chicken pot pie' to have for lunch the next day and it was also absolutely fantastic - crispy, savoury and fairly filling for only $8. Everything I have had at The Moth is excellent!! I live nearby and have gone a dozen times so far. The staff are awesome too. I love their philosophy of doing away with credit card service in order to invest that money back into making their food affordable. Tough to enjoy a meal when it's +35c inside the restaurant at dinner time.... Not sure if they like it that hot, but not me....I just wanted to leave and had to get up and go outside every 20 minutes to wipe off the sweat... So the food may have been better than I remember, but was the overall experience was ruined. Nutty pate was essentially mashed walnuts and oodles of salt and garlic....couldn't taste anything else. Ladybug salad was better, but not by much....hodgepodge of items in it that didn't all mix well. Example...avocado and mint leaves don't belong together, ever. I went here with a small group of friends. The food was amazing. The menu had great variety including drinks and dessert! I was also a big fan of the decor, really cozy! Great vegan find when traveling! Here for work and was hoping to find some good plant-based options, and definitely found a great spot! The space is trendy and open, lots of natural light and soft tones. I tried the vermicelli bowl; great flavor with lots of veggies and tofu. I absolutely loved The Moth Cafe. I had seen a thousand photos and stories on Instagram and just had to check it out for myself. I arrived at 10 AM to get a table as I hear it fills up fast! Sure enough, 10 after and the entire cafe was full. I definitely recommend arriving as soon as they open on weekends if you're wanting brunch. I have yet to try dinner, however I am excited to try literally every item on their menu. The food was absolutely delicious and visually appealing. You can feel good eating here as all of their food is vegan and made with healthy ingredients. I had the pancakes and OMG, they were to die for. The cream was a bit sweet, I would ask for it on the side next time. The service was great as well! They use iPads and are fast and friendly. The decor is adorable. I couldn't get enough of it. I felt like I was right at home with the furry blankets and bohemian vibes. I definitely recommend this cafe for a brunch date or a quiet reading session! read more

Excellent vegan food. Lovely staff and great service. Amazing array of vegan food choices. We have 3 younger kids. They were very welcoming and understanding!! The food was quite good. Had the moth spaghetti, which I believe was the same spaghetti that they used to make at Cafe Mosaics back in the day (same owners, I think...). It was delicious as I remember it, though the gargantuan tofu balls were quite cold in the middle (as I have heard by friends of mine who've tried). Would have been perfect if the tofu balls were smaller and a bit more evenly distributed amongst the dish - and obviously cooked through, though I imagine it is hard to cook something that colossal without burning the outside and undercooking the inside. I had such high hopes for this place but I was really disappointed. I'm giving two stars because the tea latte I had and our server were both lovely. I ordered the GF Chai Pancakes with Cinnamon Banana, which I was super excited for, but they were really, really bad. I should've sent them back but I've never sent food back at a restaurant in my life and didn't know if I got a bad batch or if that's just how they were. I've since seen pictures on Instagram in which the pancakes look a lot fluffier and nicer than the dry ones I received, which makes me think I just had some bad luck. They tasted like they had way too much baking soda or something, and with the blueberries and chocolate chips added they came to almost $20 (I wasn't told that I'd be charged extra for each of these additions, but I wouldn't have minded had the pancakes been edible). Such a cute place but sad to report that this little place just doesn't cut it. As per my usual routine, if a restaurant fails the first time, I almost always give it a second shot, especially if its in my hood. Well this was their second shot and they failed in both service and food. After a helter skelter seating and ordering process we were finally presented with our food. The $17.00 soup, without exaggeration looked land tasted ike it came out of the sink after washing dishes at a family Thanksgiving dinner. Mostly tasteless noodles and (not kidding) one Brussel sprout cut in half, a few shredded carrots and a couple of mushrooms. Worst soup I have ever tasted. Considering this soup would have cost pennies to make the $17 dollar price tag was an in insult. Tried to negotiate a trade with my dining partner but she too could not eat the soup. The shocking part of this experience is that the waitress didn't care! Not even a bit! No refund, no discount, no apology. Attitude is ...like our food OR NOT we don't really care. The one thing that will keep me coming back to The Moth is the smoothie bowls!! They are sooo good! And the pancakes are incredible. Their food is really good! But....alas....the downfall: the menu is about 20 pages long and none of it makes sense. I mean, I get some of it, but most of the pages are gibberish to me. This is why I feel the staff should be taking it upon themselves to explain the menu to people when they first sit down without us asking because we're probably intimidated. Please don't assume that everyone who walks through your door is vegan and natural and knows what the names of all algae cultures are. One more thing: I was really offended that your speed night was for vegans only. Like seriously? I don't have to be vegan to be a human being. This was our first time. We got there at 6:00. The parking is a an absolute disaster!!! Hence leaving we were block by another car and couldn't get out. The 3 of us had; The Chai Pancakes - response not good, very dry no real flavor, the 2nd has jack fruit Enchilada- where's the Jack Fruit, the biggest portion on the plate was a bland green salad. 3rd was the Moth spaghetti, way to salty. So with the price per entree that was a bust. The service was amazing, the acoustics in the place was horrible, very loud you couldn't hear the music or talk. Yesterday, Nov 10/18, was my first visit to this little gem of a cafe! I went with a friend, around 8 pm, after the Fleetwood Mac concert was cancelled. We needed to sob, be sad, and drown our sorrows. So we opted to try this place that we've heard such good things about. And lemme tell you...it certainly didn't disappoint!! I had a coconut chai and my friend had the peppermint lavender tea. We split a chickpea salad. Oooooooh such bliss!!! I'm not vegan, but the cafe is. And after my trip, I could totally be converted. The best part....the lovely young lady running the entire place on her sweet two feet. There was a gentleman behind the counter making drinks and a few kitchen staff but this lady, she's a ROCKSTAR! She seated us, promptly, in a very busy room. She brought us a bottle of water, gave us enough time to peruse the menu without being rushed, and was back to take our order. She buzzed around to every table, looking after everyone. Quite the task if you ask me. She was beyond cheerful and pleasant, smiling, and helpful. Someone give this girl a raise!!!! I wish I had her name to personally thank her, but I don't, so I'm hoping she sees this and knows what a great asset she is to The Moth Cafe! Truly fabulous service young lady! I'd like to rate this with a thousand stars, but since I can't....I give it a heartfelt 10/10! Will DEFINITELY be back!! And thank you mystery server for your polished attention to your customers. Have been a few times now and really enjoyed it. Favourite was the Moth Spaghetti - blown away by the giant mushroom/tofu balls. Had the Coconut lime laksa the last time which was pretty good as well but a little spicier than I would have hoped. Kids enjoyed it as well (Tofu scramble and risotto were big hits). read more

My visit was at 5pm. The cafe wasn't half full as it was a very cold late afternoon. Beautiful environment inside with nice decor, live plants hanging, no loud music, very well put together interior design. They have a nice patio which will be great in the spring and summer. My mate had a pie and a special late. I had the berries vegan cheesecake and matcha late. The cheesecake was light and not heavy like standard milky cheesecakes I usually have, very good. The match was good as most lates. I found the price a bit too high for a business located in that area of the city. I was expecting to be cheaper but again this is a rare to find vegan and raw vegan cafe. I'd come back and I recommend it. read more

Absolutely terrible experience . I go here a lot but I will never go again that's for sure. We ordered our food and our first appetizer took 40 mins to get there. Our entrees got there before our second appetizer. I got the spaghetti and usually it's great but this time it was rotten. I couldn't eat the toast that came with it because it was so wet it turned into soup. I was going to ask for new toast but our waitress didn't come back until we were well done of our entrees. Oh and she had our second appetizer at this point. It was the pizza. One was burned and the then fine. I was going to tell her that too but she didn't come back again for quite a while. We got desert and it was fine. There was 5 of us that went and all five of us got pretty sick. Maybe this was a coincidence who knows. My girlfriend sent them a message and they said we were the only ones that got sick that night and They hoped we feel better haha . Great thanks .
