My rating is strictly for gel x application and overall salon experience, not the nail design I was unsatisfied with because that is mostly on me. Came here to get short almond gel x nails with a French tip design for my wedding nails. I showed inspo pics and requested that the white not be super stark white compared to the pink. My nail tech started off with a thicker French tip to cover the natural nail peeking out under the gel tip. However that did not fit my vision so I asked for a thinner tip. She did mention that you would be able to see the natural nail under the tip and I said it was ok. I realized after I got home that the pink base coat was essentially clear and the natural nail showed in an obvious way in photos even though I thought it looked ok in person. I did not bring this up to the salon because I figured I just chose the wrong design and decided to just go somewhere else to just get a solid color all over. While getting my polish changed at the other salon, the nail tech noticed that my cuticles were completely covered in gel and had to take an extra 10-15 mins just drilling all the gel off my cuticles otherwise it wouldn't have grown out smoothly. She also fixed the nail shape because it was super pointy for almond in my opinion. My reason for my rating is because gel is not good to constantly get on skin. I did notice my original tech at moongirlnails used a brush to wipe off the gel after each tip application which I didn't love since other places I've been to have known how much gel to apply to avoid overflow. Using excess glue and going back to clean up is not good technique in my opinion. And seeing that the excess was not even fully wiped off and left on my cuticles, I cannot in good faith recommend this salon if you want to avoid developing a gel allergy. read more

I've come here for once a month, for six months now, and every manicurist I've scheduled with has been consistently amazing. They alwasy take their time, listen to what shape and style I want, and even ensure that they forego the cuticle cutting when I ask them to. I love the hot towel and massage that comes at the end. Don't forget to ask for your strengthening or buff & shine treatment as well - it's part of the no-gel manicure service. They have a website where you can make your reservation(s) - with prices (very important)! There are ample dates & times available, which I appreciate. I love the transparency upfront instead of waiting to find out prices afterwards. The entrance is right off the sidewalk, with no walk-up, so it appears to be wheelchair accessibile, however there is no auto-door opening mechanism and the door is a can be a bit heavy, particularly when it's windy outside. Parking can be tight, given that they're in a small strip mall with the very popular Holos Coffee shop, Bunker 21 Korean fried chicken shop, Koseli (a Nepali market), and a handful of other stores too. They're also next to 99 Ranch and a separate strip mall that's split up - so there's no abundance of things to do in the neighbourhood, but parking can be hard to find, depending on the time of day. I recommend moongirlnails to everyone because a small business like their should absolutely have all the success it can! P.S. 10/10 hands down the best manicure I've ever gotten. I went to a different nail salon the week prior for a gel x mani and wasn't completely satisfied - lifting + excess + pain. It's a super cute, comfy studio & both her and Jaime were super friendly and fun to chat with while she worked on my nails. She amazed me with how meticulous and careful she was as she reshaped and trimmed excess for me. The whole process of trimming, cleaning, and painting was around 2 hours. This is the most satisfied I have ever been with my nails because they are so clean and the perfect length/shape I wanted in the first place! I brought my mom to get a structured gel overlay manicure and booked any technician that was available. They have tons of availability so that was convenient for us. However, the technician that worked on my mom's nails seemed a bit under experienced compared to the one next to her (from her observation). The gel was a bit messy around the cuticle area, a little uneven in terms of the layers, and afterwards wasn't hardened completely so the gel was still sticky. Despite all of this, this place was still better than other nail salons that are cheap and quick, so we will still be booking another appointment to try again! Hopefully their pedicure gets set up by then as we wanted to try that too. We did appreciate that our technician listened to our concerns about not damaging my mom's nails with a drill or overcutting her cuticles. read more

I've been going to Mana for years now and I can't find anyone else that can take care of my nails as good as she can. And I've been to other nail artists when she's fully booked and they never match up to her work. I used to get acrylic nails and i didn't like how it made my nails brittle and it would lift too much so when Mana introduced me to gel-x nails, my nails finally looked and felt healthier, didn't break off, and lasts longer. Unfortunately, not a lot of nail techs use gel-x yet and the ones that do still can't do it as well as she does. Mana is also talented with nail designs / nail art. I just show her what design or photo i want on my nails and she draws it out exactly like it! Mana is an expert at her craft! I'm really particular about my nails and rarely have them done because I'm always disappointed. After reading the positive reviews, I made an appt online (her website is really simple and ur able to see what she has available). She took her time and was meticulous about her work. You can tell she really cares about her finished product. I asked for French tip with a design (I showed her a picture) and she even took the time to show me two different French tip styles, making sure I was going to be happy with what I chose. Nobody I've ever been to takes the time to ask what u want, they just want to hurry and get u done so they can move on to the next customer. This personalized service along with her higher quality gel is something many people pay lots of money for, but her prices are the same as all the other places I've been to (and been disappointed with).
