This is NOT the monogram shop for you!! The staff needs to fix their faces when customers walk through the doors. I came to this store three times, hoping to be treated better each time. Extremely rude customer service at the counter. Like I "'was bothering them" As they unpack boxes. You're unpacking boxes so customers can purchase items . No customers no reason to unpack boxes. This shop has a lot of great merchandise . I have shopped here on several occasions . Although they have a great eye for merchandise - their customer service is lacking . Each time I have been in - I felt the staff was snobby and I was not an "ideal " customer who would purchase anything or an "ideal " demographic background . No greeting even when you walk up to pay . I had to ask for tissue paper for the 2 monogram backpacks I purchased. It was just given to me in their shopping bag . Not even sure if they gift wrap - never offered the choice if they do especially it being 2 monogram items - hint ... most likely gifts . Snobby and stand off ish .... Not to be confused with the Mononucleosis Shop (where the employees are always sick), the Instagram Shop (where a lot of cute girls take selfies), or the Strippergram Shop (Barbi works there). The Monogram Shop is amazing, and despite not being cheap, Barbi and I both wanted to give it five stars. Barbi spent a good half an hour in here and was pretty enthused about both of the items that she bought. There are even some deals to be found in the nooks and crannies if you avoid some of the overpriced items. Because it's a family business, I would usually give it five stars, but we both noticed that service was a little hostile and condescending, and that's the only reason I knocked off the star. In fact there was an earlier experience which it probably just reminded me of, which is that we showed up here at 5:45 to grab an item that she saw the day before, and they were already closed and locked and lights off, despite the internet and the door sign saying that 6 p.m. was the closing time. read more

Yelp says open till 6pm. Walked in at 5:20ish and the 1st employee I made eye contact with looked at her watch so pointedly, I thought they were closing. I apologized and asked if it was ok that I come in. She said sure and waved me in. Employees behind checkout counter asked if I needed help which I appreciate. I said I was just browsing. I went to the jewelry next to their checkout counter and one of the employees says to another other, "It's about time to go." loud enough for me to hear. When the other employee didn't respond, the one employee takes it a step further and says, "Whew, it's 5:25!" WOW! MESSAGE RECEIVED LOUD AND CLEAR LADIES! I had just found a ring I liked for myself and was excited to find something for 2 showers coming up for my girlfriends. They'll be so disappointed to hear of my experience. I've been here 2 times, assuming my visit visit was a bad day for the shop. It was not, the service was worse, not better on my second attempt. They clearly look down upon anyone who comes in with a young child, which I can understand to a degree. There are plenty of places not suitable for children. But a 1/4 of the store is devoted to stuff for small children, and my small child is why I'm coming in, so to be rude is unnecessary. It's important to note: The prices don't include a MINIMUM $9 monogram fee (other stores in the area have similar prices with monogram included). This is not disclosed until after you have spent your time picking color and monogram. At check out is when the price is increased. Lastly, if your item does not come out how you discussed and you express disappointment, be prepared to be ushered out the door and not listened to. Your approval was given, so the fact that it's technically what was on the paper but not what was discussed with the sales associate does not matter. (They will even get a ruler out to prove it's what you initialed regardless of how you told the previous employee you thought that was too small and she assured you it was the correct size, and would not let you go bigger). There are plenty of great places to get things monogrammed and buy the items they have here. I would take your business elsewhere. read more

Been there a few times for monogramming some items. Will say the work is good. But not cheap. Moreso the employees are not very personable. If you're not white, in a sorority or basically in their bubble....then you are beneath them. Seems like a bunch of middle age and old ladies who went to Kinkaid and UT together and live in their bubble. Try Monogram Makers just down the street. Great service and the owner is very nice and appreciative of your business. PS: my favorite SMH ‍ is when they list the names and sororities of the incoming freshman girls. I like this place. I have only had good experiences here. The staff have been helpful but not intrusive. They have a great selection of gift items here as well as the monogramming service. I purchased some very cute robes and spa items and had them monogrammed as gifts and they were beautiful! They have jewelry and bags and a lovely line of serving dishes and decorative ware! Love there holiday themed gifts and if you are looking for something for a group of women such as a sorority or wedding or shower this is the place to find a unique and useful gift they will love! Sad to see they are getting low stars...this really is a cute place. They offer many cute gift items and it's great for brides, babies, kids, new moms, graduation gifts or even just something for yourself. Who doesn't love seeing their name or monogram on something? They also carry speciality lines of stationery, bags, luggage and other items. They usually are right on trend or start them. :) I actually used to work here and I can truly say there is no snobbery. I don't understand that part? The owner, Janet, may not always be there but her daughter, Kelli likely is. And I can assure you she is the sweetest, most down to earth person. I've called many times to place orders and everyone is nice and friendly. In the monogram world, if something doesn't work out right, make sure you didn't ask for anything weird. Seriously. Sometimes ppl ask for odd textures to have a monogram or a weird color thread that doesn't compliment and are disappointed with the results. Further, I wouldn't take anything to get monogrammed that is heirloom quality or holds huge sentimental value, unless you are ok with that machine possibly eating it. Lol. It opened about 7 weeks ago, and it is better than ever! Beautiful space, so beautifully curated and displayed. Lots of room to walk around, and a very safe environment! Owner Janet Burke, and manager Brandi and web site/buyer Leah, have all pulled together just a beautiful, well-priced and a bigger inventory in the new spot. Go see it! I've been going to The Monogram Shop for years - they do amazing work and have more monogram options than you can imagine. They are great with suggestions, too. I have heard some people say that the people who work there are standoffish or snooty, NOT TRUE! They are all friendly and so helpful. One thing I especially like is that I can come in with an idea and they can bring it to life, only better than I imagined. They have great gifts and clothes, too. Such a cute place! I originally started going here due to my boss (I'm a nanny) who would send me on errands here to pick up/drop off stuff to get monogrammed. It's such an adorable place! They've got everything from Vera Bradley and Lilly Pulitzer to home decor and of course they do fantastic monograming. I havent had a bad experience yet. I had a really disappointing experience here. I finished knitting a baby blanket for my first friend to have a baby just days after she had the baby so I decided to have it monogrammed with the baby's initials before I sent it to her. I went to The Monogram Shop on a friend's recommendation. The girl who helped me was helpful in picking a color and font. The baby blanket is just a repeated pattern of about 2 inch by 2 inch hearts in squares. I showed her where I wanted the initials and she pinned a post-it note on the spot. I went to pick it up when it was finished and they did the monogram upside-down which essentially ruined this blanket I spent many, many hours knitting. When I said something the girl said, "I didn't even notice the hearts." Trust me, the hearts are literally the only thing on the blanket so I have NO idea how that's true. I said I knew they couldn't do anything about it but suggested they be much more vigilant with other people's things and she just kind of shrugged her shoulders. Obviously it's ultimately for a baby who has no idea if it's upside down or not but I was just really disappointed that the girl didn't seem to care at all that they had ruined this one of a kind and took-me-forever-to-make blanket. This place has super cute gift ideas and tons of great options to choose from. Not only do they have easy to give gifts but also have things I can't resist to purchase for myself too! The one downside I've had to this is shop is their horrible customer service and their inability to try to even remotely work with their customers. I recently called them to see if they could engrave a Yeti cup I have for a Christmas gift. The lady on the phone said yes we engrave Yeti cups, but we only engrave OUR Yeti cups and we NO we don't have any, we are sold out, so NO we will NOT engrave your cup! First off, all Yeti cups are the same no matter which vendor you are purchasing them from. Second, the attitude this lady gave me over the phone for asking one simple question seriously surprised me and made it clear to me she not only didn't care about the customer nor the fact that I am a long standing frequent customer. This lady acted like I was a complete bother and that her day had been ruined my answering my phone call. The sad thing is I even offered to pay the price they sell their Yeti cups at if she would engrave the cup I had bought from Academy until their next shipment of cups came in. She refused and acted like my proposal was completely outlandish. It seems like as if they don't care or appreciate the customer. I have never heard of such horrible phone etiquette and customer service. Very disappointed in them and have serious reservations about ever returning to this store again, I've bit my tongue far too long about the mannerisms of this store. I will shop/monogram elsewhere. On a good note Engraveit Houston was more than ecstatic to engrave my yeti cup and even offered custom logos and designs. I highly recommend them. read more

The second time I called for directions was at 5:58 by my clock right at the corner of Fountainview and San Felipe.
