I have been meaning to check this place out for a very long time, so when my husband suggested we hang out with some friends here for food, I was out the door, Sweet Brown style (but with shoes). The decor didn't exactly wow me, but it was comfortable and cosy! I wasn't really expecting anything major at a buffet style place, but the service was very good. We were seated quickly, especially as there were six of us. Our drinks were taken and brought quickly. Our server then explained clearly how the BBQ works and we all went together to pick our meals out. There is a great selection of veggies and even better selection of spices. Their sauces are also very varied and there are an endless number of combinations to choose from. My only grievences are that the selection of meat isn't great (Chicken, mixed meat and prawns) and the portions aren't big enough (but this is cancelled out if you go for the 10.90 all you can eat). Then you take your creation to the grill and watch as it's fried up in front of you! I really enjoyed asking everyone else what mix they had picked out and watching everyone's choices cook. One major plus is that these guys have really good tofu as an option instead of the meat. I opted for this and really liked the texture and freshness. I would like to see some more suggestions for mixes on the walls for those who are clueless on how to put good flavours together. Being able to add some cashew nuts would also be great. Superb value for money, the drinks are very inexpensive and the service is great. I love that they have little refresher bars at the counter where you pay instead of mints. I need to say that I loved the place. I was very curious about the Mongolian barbecue after meeting someone from Mongolia and I just had to try it. The place itself is pretty simple inside. At first I didn't know it works but basically: grab a bowl, fill it and hand it to the guy at big hub. Plenty of options of sauces. I did not know which one was the sauces I liked so I just tried them all haha The guy then cooked it for you and you can watch the whole process while you wait. Best part: you can refill your bowl, as many times as you can. I really like the experience, the food is amazing and my signature spices sauces I created just added to it. read more

The buffet bowl concept intrigued me but I was pretty disappointed in the end. I went for the €15 all you can eat - decent tastes but I would be kind of concerned over hygiene. The set-up is a great idea - they give you a bowl and you fill all the raw ingredients into that (there's a good selection of meats vegetable spices and sauces) and then hand it to the chefs and they cook it right in front of you. Only problem is that you can easily get carried away and put too many ingredients in the same bowl, so try and stay reasonable - if you i everything together you'll just taste nothing. Overall great value and a nice set-up inside. The refresher they give you the end is the cherry on top. read more

Easiest 5 stars I've ever given! I first tried Mongolian Bbq at the recommendation of a friend and I was not disappointed. Can't go wrong with the lunchtime deal- €5.90 for a massive bowl of delicious stir fry! All the veg is fresh and crunchy, and really makes the stir fry. I usually go for the chicken option and then as much veg and noddles as I can pile on! There's loads of yummy sauces to choose from- would definitely recommend the satay! Watching your own food being cooked adds an authentic feel to the restaurant. They also give every table a big bowl of rice, and a refresher sweet when you're leaving. Won't be long filling up my loyalty cards! Tip- put the noodles in after your veg and pile more in!! read more

Was there with a few of my friends last night. It was quiet and we were one of the largest tables there. How good your food tastes is down to you on and what seasoning and sauce you use. One of my friends added too much soy and it was too salty. I finally came across a good combination of mix veg and meat with salt, pepper, garlic, ginger, parsley and BBQ sauce. We all had the all-you-can-eat buffet for around €16 each plus some soft drinks on top. We were the last to leave around 11pm, we were there since 7:30pm. They didn't rush us or kick us out, which was a change. Great for groups, and great value for money. Eat your fill and it's only your fault if the flavours are a car crash. :-) read more

Mongolian BBQ is one of the places you should try. Its based in the heart of Temple bar in a little alley. Basically whole idea is to dine, I'd say healthy and in very comfy atmosphere. Why healthy? coz you basically choosing your own ingredients and creating your own meal. Everything is freshly prepared in front of you, there is no ''surprises'' in your plate you can get somewhere else :) buffet is full of fresh vegetables and assortment of meats. Even if you are vegetarian you are more than welcome and your meal will be prepared on the side with out any meat contact. And if we talking money wise? do not be worried, cheap enough for good lunch. 6 euro! So do not hesitate and go on and have some BBQ :) It worth it!. read more

They deliver what they promise: you can eat how much you stands for a fair price. Is this good? Yes. But the food's quality is awesome? No. Great variety of spices, herbs, sauces are the greatest PRO, but once you give to the chef, he will put on the hot plate and your sauce will boil away and part of your food will mix with another people's. Looks kinda confusing for what I'm saying, but see for yourself! Despite all those facts, you can put more sauce after the process, not all the variety than before (actually only two of them, Satay and another that I don't really remember because I only use Satay) and the final result is pretty good, although not AWESOME. Let's talk now about the place itself: for me it's too crowded because it's small and the preparation of the food makes it so noisy. I don't really like it, but okay, sounds chaotic like a medieval mongolian raid. And speaking of the devil, I know they has a beautiful painting about mongolians in the wall but I'd like to see more thematic decoration. the concept is great and Ive been to several similar in other parts of the world but as one previous reviewer pointed out the not changing different knives when using different meats worried me also so I opted not to eat but to stay and have a drink and pay for my son and friends instead. They didn't care, not many poor college students do. I however have food allergies and cant eat some meat so the idea of being sick just didn't do it for me. It is as the reviews say cheap if you arrive for lunch and it gets busy so it can take a while. Nice to visit but I wont be back. Its typical Ireland also. Came here for a late lunch on a recent stay in Dublin and was super pleased. If you go before 4:30pm, you can create your own large bowl and get small bowl of rice for under 6 euros. They have veggies, tofu, meats, noodles, and other various fresh foods to select from. Then you pick your sauces and spices and give it the cook who cooks it infront of you. Would definitely come here again. Only downside is I think prices go up quite a bit in the evening. read more

Tasty Mongolian BBQ! Came here with a friend after a day tour (bus dropped us in Temple bar). We got there around 8pm, but if you're there before 7pm you get the early bird special which is 20% off the $16euro per person price. Overall worth the price. Good selection of fresh veggies and really nice thinly sliced and lean beef, chicken and other meats. Also delicious prawns. Good selection of spices and sauces, though I would have liked an additional spicy liquid sauce. Quick and efficient cooking with skilled Mongolian chefs. At one point they had 11 different bowls going on the grill - very impressive. You're also served with a bowl of white rice (they replace it as needed) with your meal. Surprised to find a Mongolian BBQ place in Dublin, and it being right in the middle of Temple Bar. Can get busy, recommend reservations for seating after 7pm. They have an early dinning special up to 7pm, reduced price on buffet. Standard selection of veg (spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, peppers, tofu, carrots, watercress) and proteins (beef, pork, chicken, seafood mix, and a tandoori beef mix). They have a regular lo mein and rice noodle options. They have a range of spices for your use (Chinese 5 spice, coriander, curry, chili) which is a nice feature although the sauce options are a bit lacking. They organize many orders on the grill and pump them out fast, so not long wait time even when busy. They have some other appetizer and dessert options available a la carte in case the buffet isn't enough. Definitely recommend stopping in. read more

Yes, this is a simple concept: pile the food you like the look of into a bowl, hand it to the chefs, and they'll barbecue it for you. The trouble is, when I go out for the night I don't really want to spend the evening cooking my own food. I hate cooking. I am a terrible cook. It doesn't matter how many ingredient combinations I try, or if I follow the recipes on the posters, my selection always tastes rubbish. Last time I went here with six friends, and none of us were happy with our meals. We kept thinking we were choosing the wrong ingredients (how can you go wrong with chicken and vegetables?!) but actually I think we just chose the wrong restaurant. The price is alright, I think, for an all-you-can-eat place. Be warned that they cook everything on the same grill -- cue unhappy vegan friends. read more

This is a must visit, mainly for the experience of it all! This is buffet-style; pick your own veg and meat (you can have a bowl for each) then there's the spices, garlic, seeds, etc and then choose your sauce. This is all placed on a large pan where it's cooked in front of you. We got the early-bird @€13 a head before 7pm, very good value as it is all you can eat and go back as many times as you like. The wine was reasonably priced too. As an Asian restaurant, the food was nothing spectacular, the sauces were a little lacking in flavour but overall a good choice, especially for a group and can be a healthier option than most places for dinner, once you add plenty of veg! read more

I really enjoy going here. It's so clean and the food is a good, healthy alternative to what's on offer elsewhere. You're able to tailor your tastes into what you put in your bowl. And of course the "all you can eat" part is superb. I've been many times in the past year and have not yet been disappointed. The one thing that could be improved is sauces. We popped in here for lunch yesterday. We arrived about 2.30 and there was no line, which was great! Really nice man at the counter talked us through the "bowl system", ie, take a bowl and fill it with as much yummy fresh veggies, noodles etc as you can and then pick a meat (chicken, pork and spicy chicken, I think it was - tofu is also available), season up with herbs and spices, add some sauce and give it to the man at the grill. He takes it from you and throws in on the plate and you get to watch it get cooked up in front of you... It's pretty cool, he uses these long pool cue type sticks to move the food about and then pops it into a bowl for you. When you get back to your table there's a bowl of rice waiting for you, and a jug of water. Delicious and fresh and great value for a fiver. We added a dessert (chocolate fudge cake with icecream) for an extra three euro. Yummy!! I love alternatives to burgers and chips when I'm out, so this is a definite winner for me, I'll certainly go back for more! (Oh, I noticed that kids under 6 eat free if two adults are eating, which I thought was a good deal). 3 stars. solidly mediocre. but hey, it's different! they actually have a pretty good selection of stuff to put in your bowl. my only real gripe is the sauces. why must they all, ALL, be sweet?? i KNOW mongolian bbq does not require sugar to be in every single sauce. i got so annoyed that i finally just went over to the wall of spices and made my own concoction and then drowned the end result in soy sauce. then it was delicious. i also kinda think it's a bit overpriced simply for the fact that i'm a 120lb 5'2" girl who really can't eat much of the all-you-can-eat. so i just don't really feel like i get a good value for the bowl and a half that i can actually physically get in mah belleh! not sure what the deal Cory D. is talking about. i don't think they had it when i went. i have to give them bonus points for the wall of spices tho. it's a great idea and it definitely saved me from having to have dessert for dinner. actually, now i'm craving it. rats! read more

Stumbled upon it while looking for a quick lunch the other day. €5 gets you a bowl which you fill with whatever you like from the bar - fish, beef, chicken, beans, bamboo, tofu and all sorts of fresh vegetables, spices & sauces. They cook it up right in front of you, give you some steamed rice and voila...quick, healthy, delicious, and cheaper than disgusting sandwiches at the SPAR. Highly recommended! read more

That's a great place to get a quick, cheap lunch which you can compose yourself. Just add different vegetables, meats, put some spices and pour over some nice sauce and then it will be grilled for you on real Mongolian BBQ. They also have some porterhouse beer in bottles and the Temple Bar one on the tap- you can a jug for around 14 EURO. Just remember not too overdose with the spices and sauces. I unfortunately did and I got a very spicy mixture;) next time I'll try to chooses just one spice and sauce;) read more

As it was my first time there is was a bit unsure what to do!! I totally missed the spices section on the wall. Next time I will definietly put more thougt into my selection and not panic pick!!! I didn't like this place, I thought there I would have a great barbecue, as the name of the place is Mongolian Barbecue, but in fact that is more a noodle. You chose the igredients that you want, noodle plus meat, seafood (wich is almost nothing), vegetables, spices and sauces. If you do know or didn't try before, you can get spices and sauces wich you wont like, after that everything will be put in a big hot disc, to be cooked. The food for all the customers are put together one beside other one. I didnt like, so I dont recomend. read more

This was an experience!! You pick out your meat, veg, sauce, spices etc and give it to the chef and it goes on the grill BAM wow then it sizzles wow class and BAM your food is done CLASS. You can't really critique the food because your basically making it yourself and you shouldn't critique yourself unnecessarily because you should be your own number one fan. Mongolian BBQ temple bar made me truly find myself spiritually. The cons were that as an uncultured Irish girl I believed that the 'buffet' would be similar to jimmy Chungs because I was in the mood for a filthy Chinese and was let down by the lack of grease associated with that but I guess that ones on me. Also toilet was like a maze to find aha where am I lak. Anyway I'm a poor student who isn't mad about meat so I prob won't return but I suppose that's a me problem and you know what Mongolian BBQ keep doing what you do because I appreciate you and you should be proud of yourself. read more

Super fun, busy, and good place. The cheesecake in a jar is absurdly good. The stir fry is delish, with lots of yummy sauces and veggies. No matter how busy it seems the line always moves fast. Ive only discovered Mongolian Barbeque in the last few months and Im a big fan! I really enjoy the fact that you can pick and choose your own ingredients and you get to see them cook it so you know what is going in your food and how it is cooked. I also love the fact that you get extra rice and sauces to add to your dish as you please. As a college student I feel you can't go wrong for only €5.90! I am delighted that I only need one more stamp to fill my loyalty card which means in two meals time ill be getting a free meal! I also love the fact that you get a refresher when you pay.
