Walked in around 7:30 on a Wednesday night and it was packed. Couldn't get a table so I went across the street to Gushi and had a few beers and two bottles of soju. Around 9, went back and got a table. Ordered pork belly and jjam bbong. Quite surprised with the strips of pork belly for just one serving and for the price! Great portion size and it was delicious. I was able to grill it myself which I prefer. The side dishes were though limited, but the kimchi and seaweed were tasty. Was shocked they didn't have any soju or even Korean beer even thought the restaurant across the street did... The jjam bbong was nice and spicy. Good chunks of seafood. Overall, not bad for the price ~ 48 euros with two bottles of beer and the food was quite good. Oh, they don't accept AmEx and they close at 10 pm on Wednesday nights. read more

Was craving some Korean food in Ireland and surprisingly found this street of restaurants with a lot of Asian food. This place felt like every other Korean spot, as the space was welcoming and cozy. I think this restaurant was specifically catered towards those wanting kbbq, because their portions for their regular entrees weren't that great considering the prices and they don't give you much banchan. While overall this hit the spot for my need for Korean food in a foreign country for myself, I felt the combo of the high prices and non-kbbq entrees that seemed catered towards individuals was slightly off putting. read more

We were outraged at the prices and value for money in this restaurant. We lived in Korea and have had a hundred Korean meals. Korean food always comes with plenty of 'sides' in addition to unlimited kimchi. Arisu provided very few sides and charged for refills. The same with the barbeque. We were given about 5 green leaves to eat an entire barbeque with and then charged us another 10 or 15 Euros to get more so we could eat our dinner. Not worth the money. read more

We ordered Kimchi kimbap, three rolls. It cost 47.70 Euros. We ordered to go and thought it was 15 Euros for all three. The rice was undercooked and flavorless. They didn't use any sesame oil or seeds. They also didn't use any salt in the rice to add flavor. It was the worst kimbap I have had in over 35 years. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. My wife is Korean and said it was the worst she had in her whole life. If I could give zero stars I would. Never go there. read more

I was hungry after touring the Jameson Distillery so I checked on Yelp to see what was nearby and was stoked to find a Korean restaurant within walking distance. Being Korean, I'm always craving bibimbap. The dolsot bibimbap here was fantastic! It's a rice bowl dish with your choice of meat that comes with veggies and an egg on top. The bowl is a hot stoneware bowl, so I suggest letting it sit and/or eating the top layer slowly, that way the rice on the bottom gets nice and crispy. I added some gochujang on the top (red pepper sauce) for an extra kick. It was warm, delicious, and exactly what I was craving. I also ordered japchae with beef (glass noodles and veggies) because it's another one of my fave Korean dishes and I was super hungry. I also knew I wouldn't finish it all, so I'd have leftovers for dinner later. Anyway, the japchae was simple and delicious. The beef was so good and the portion size was huge and a great deal for the price. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. Good seafood jjambbong (my husband argues it's one of the best) with a uniquely smokey undertone, like the food was put on a grill before it was thrown into the soup! Wherever I go, I'm pleasantly surprised to find that the traditional Bibimbap (mixed rice in a hot sizzling stone bowl) is just as it should be...comforting, familiar, and full of flavors. I came here for dinner with a friend and had a seafood and soya soup dish which was quite spicy and hot, but really tasty and felt easy to digest as I find most spicy foods aren't. The place was pretty empty as we came a bit earlier than usual (around 6pm), so the service was very quick and efficient. We got a complementary seaweed salad (seemed like wakame in vinegar), kimchi and a small bowl of what tasted like miso soup which was nice. The soup dish I ordered came with a bowl of rice and costed me €10.90 which I think is very reasonable for a proper evening meal. It was steaming hot so I had to wait a while for it to cool down, but I can imagine this would be like heaven to eat in the winter when it's cold outside. The portions are big and the quality is good and fresh. My friend had udon noodle soup and she said it was really good too. The menu has a much smaller variety than it's competitor Kimchi on Parnell street, but they have the essentials of both Korean food as well as a Japanese dishes like teriyaki chicken, sushi and udon noodles. One nice thing that I noticed on their menu is that at the at back, there is a page telling customers that they are happy to cater for allergies and to inform them when ordering so they can properly advise you on what you can and can't eat. The atmosphere was pretty casual overall, like somewhere between restaurant and cafe, so it would make a great lunch or dinner spot. Arisu isn't expensive and serves tasty food, which makes it a great option if you're in the mood for a sit-down Korean meal without spending a lot of money. The BBQ feature is a bonus and it's mildly entertaining if you're there with a group, as you can order something to share and watch it being cooked in front of you. The menu isn't super extensive, but if offers some good value combos and the more typical dishes, such as bibimbap, steamed dumplings, kimchi pancakes, etc. Sadly, the drinks selection is a bit poor and, even worse, there's no dessert menu. However, I liked most of the things I tried, the seafood soup and the BBQs especially. The spicy and bitter flavours come out nicely in their food. On a not so good note, something must be said about the hospitality of the staff on occasion - sometimes they're not very accommodating, though some of the waiters can be nicer. Another negative point are the stinted interiors and flimsy plastic tableware - the glasses and water jugs particularly look and feel terribly worn off - bringing down the whole experience. read more

Wow what a place. Came here on the recommendation of a friend of mine who had lived in Korea. Said it was pretty authentic so off we trotted.... On the outside doesn't look like much. Started to wonder if had the right place but as soon as stepped in the door we were greeted with some amazing scents. Each table comes with its own cool little BBQ in the middle where the can cook certain dishes for you. Looking through the menu I hadn't a clue what most of it was so asked for some recommendations. Ended up with two amazing dishes and a side plate of sushi, each one delicious in its own way. Arisu is a great Korean restaurant, probably the best on Capel Street, and maybe even the best in Dublin. I visited last night and ordered the mixed BBQ for 2 people. The BBQ system that they have here is much better than the gas BBQ tables found in most Korean BBQ restaurants, they use hot coals, and have a ventilation flue that is lowered over the grill plate to suck up all the smoke, so your food has that smokey BBQ taste but you don't go away smelling charred. There was a lot of meat, both pork and beef, including galbi (ribs), bulgogi (marinated slightly sweet beef), samgyeopsal (unseasoned pork belly) and daeji bulgogi (spicy pork). This came with delicious banchan (vegetable side dishes) including some great homemade kimchi, pickled beansprouts and pickled seaweed. I ordered a side of rice to help with the spicy daeji bulgogi, but there was more than enough food to fill two people without ordering any side dishes. Our waitress cooked all of the food for us at the table, which I felt quite bad about, because any other BBQ I've been to you cooked the food yourself and it is quite a tedious job. The staff were warm and friendly, and service was prompt. The cost of the mixed BBQ for 2 people was €27.99, a good price for an enormous amount of food. I love this place, it has been too long since my last visit! Ok so it's not fancy, but it feels like good Korean home cooking, and at these prices it is great value for money. I have always found the service excellent and you're always greeted with a jug of water and little selection of Korean nibbles (kimchi etc). I got the bibimbap (€8.90), it was really tasty and the bowl was super hot so you get that beautiful hard fried rice at the bottom (bottle of Korean beer €3). P.S. Get a discount on takeaway! Another one of my Capel Street favourites. They've recently renovated and it's now a lovely, well lit space! The staff are always friendly, and very helpful. You can choose to order from menu, or go for the 'all you can eat' Korean BBQ & sushi. I usually order from the menu, the Spicy Chicken and the Bibimbap are two of my favourites. The portions are very generously sized and the prices are more than reasonable. (8-10€ main courses) As for the BBQ/sushi, you need to be prepared (empty bellied) before you dive in there! read more

I was curious to try the bibimbap meal, I heard this dish being mentioned so many times whenever people were talking about Korean food. I decided to give it a try and searched for a Korean place around Dublin 1 area. Arisu is located on Chapel street not far away from Henry street. There are other Asian restaurants around as well. The restaurant is small, pretty simple, they don't give much attention to decoration. We seated on a table and we were brought water, the glasses had dust. I asked for another glass anyway. I ordered the bibimbap and my friend a bulgogi. The bulgogi was cooked on our table, the meat was tender and tasty, the side dishes were fine, really nothing special. Well it's pretty much what it says on the tin. We went for the 17.90 euro all you can lunchtime buffet. You get BBQ foods to choose from and a few different sushi selections but it's a bit of a let down. Sure messing around with a BBQ in the middle of the table is fun but the selection is pretty poor. You have some beef and chicken and lots of sushi with salmon or crab stick. That's pretty much it. To be fair the price isn't too exorbitant that you are getting value for your money but a bit of noodles or rice wouldn't go astray. This place is great. Had the steamed dumplings and fried dumplings. Both fantastic. For main we had chicken and prawns on the BBQ. Prawns were better than chicken. People beside us had spicy beef and it looked/smelt fantastic. Topped it off with 2 Japanese beers - also very good. Can't wait for our next visit! read more

Arisu, I love you. Today was my second time there, this time for lunch and last time for dinner. I don't know a ton about Korean food, but last time I was with a regular who took care of the ordering which is just so clutch. I'm going to move on like I can pull off the term "clutch." Anywhooo we got the BBQ last time, and that is the way to go at Arisu. Each table is equipped with a mini cooktop and you cook the meats yourself, so it's like basically hibachi without the flaming onion volcanoes. It's really fun and great for groups. The spicy chicken stood out for being delicious, definitely order that. For today's lunch I got the bibimbap, and it was just perfect for a Sunday lunch after the previous night's bender. It has crispy rice on the bottom, tasty beef and crispy veggies that entirely acquitted me of the previous night's boozy sins. Lovely experience, my only regret is not having gotten the BBQ again. read more

Meant to leave a review for this place for awhile now. Oh time, where dost thou go!! It being our first time to try Korean and me and my better half being newbies, we went for the pork belly BBQ. I loved the whole theatre of our waitress starting us off by cutting up what seemed to me, a very large and generous amount of meat. It was left to us then to cook the meat to our liking. It was accompanied by lettuce, kimchi (my first time trying it ever, better than I thought pickled cabbage could taste haha) and a pickled seaweed side dish that was a much more acquired taste!! After reading the lovely Emilys review I really wanted to try this place out. The interior is small enough, but they use the space well. It's snug without the tables being completely on top of each other. The decor is a little shabby, but I think it adds to the experience. On both occasions I had the Bibimbap, man I love that dish and here in Arisu it's excellent. You can BYOB and they charge 5 EUR corkage, but they have what the menu says "bottle of wine", which means either red or white. I'm not sure what the red wine is, but the white is chardonnay and it costs 14 EUR. Amazingly its at this price its pretty drinkable. For two main courses and a bottle of wine, the bill came to 32 EUR. Pretty flippin good for Dublin in my opinion. The staff are really nice, so friendly and all smiles too. Contagious. And when you leave they have this lovely ways of saying thank you and see you soon. When I hear it warms my heart. It was hard to find, but to be fair to yelp, its 119 Capel street comes up wrong on Google maps too. I'm going to try and adjust the marker for it now. Next time I'm back I will either try the BBQ or the Bulgogi. read more

Had such an experience here. I hope it was just an "exception". But still need to point out: 1. You might need to check if they have proper Udon noodles for the "Seafood Udon noodles" Otherwise, you might get the regular noodles instead 2. You might get the spicy food, even though it does not show any "red pepper" sign in the menu booklet. It happened in "Seafood Doenjang jjigae" which I ordered there 3. You might get the notification that "the table has been reserved later soon" and get the bill on the table right away. It happened to us, when they didn't inform us at the very beginning when we sat at the table. Hopefully this was just an exceptional experience, but what a "coincidence" that the 3 points happening at the same time..... Having just moved from San Francisco, we definitely needed a place to replace our old go-to Korean restaurant. This did the trick. Arisu is fun spot. They have Korean BBQ that cooks at your table, which is pretty cool. Thinly sliced beef was the bomb. Nice sides to match. Quality: 5/5 (stick to the pork and beef) Value: 2/5 (€40 for 2 person bbq) Service: 4/5 (friendly) Atmosphere: 4/5 (bbq is at the table, casual spot) Cons: -Price. I thought €40 for a lunch for two was a bit spendy -Our server told us the credit card machine was not working, which was inconvenient -Chicken was nasty. Get it off the BBQ! We had a party of 6 with a reservation (make sure to book ahead) and came here for the sole purpose of Korean BBQ! We ordered 3 sets of the BBQ and it was more than enough food for all of us. My favorites in the set or the ribs (galbi) & the spicy beef - we had loads left over we couldn't finish. The set doesn't come with rice, but it does come with a wonderful spicy salad, and lettuce leaves to wrap your meat. You can ask for extra of these two items. Just a warning, the bathroom is pretty gross...it's quite damp in there and there's definitely some mold. read more

I lived in Seoul for a year and this place is as authentic as it gets! I went here initially from the Yelp reviews and was amazed at just how great the food was. I've been probably a dozen times now and never had anything but an excellent meal. The Spicy Chicken Dup Bap is a particular favourite of mine and it has just the right amount of spice to be delicious but not burn my Irish tongue out. If you are looking for a standard staple of Korean food and have a fear of heat then check out the Bulgogi Dup Bap which tastes pretty much exactly as it would in any mom and pop restaurant in Korea. On a cold winters day the Bulgogi stew is a great option as it is enormous, delicious and great for fending off a cold! I have brought Korean friends here and they were delighted with the taste and authenticity. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming and more than happy to let me practice my limited Korean with them. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for great Korean food in Dublin! read more

After having Thai for lunch earlier that day, we were quite happy to continue with an Asian theme for dinner. We were planning to go to Kimchi hop house but decided to go to Arisu since it was much closer to walk to and it was raining a bit. When we were ordering drinks, they didn't have baekseju! Also, not a very good selection of wine. They didn't even have Korean beer (not like it's anything to rave about). We ordered the kimchi pancakes - which surprisingly had 4 individual ones. Perfect for our party of 4. It was eh okay. It tasted like it was previously fried and it was slightly reheated. It would've been a lot better if it was fried a bit more. I ordered the bulgogi dupbap. My friends ordered the spicy chicken and spicy pork. The bulgogi was okay. A bit on the sweet side and a little dry. Huge portions - I could barely finish half of it. The spicy chicken and pork was a bit better but thinking it could've been a bit better with the seasoning. Portions are quite huge so it is good value for money. I am a bit spoiled and probably unfair to rate this place a 3 as I am quite critical with Korean food. If I went to a place like this in Flushing, NY I'd probably rate it a 2 for the quality of food but I know it's a bit unfair that doesn't have a large Korean community so settled with a solid 3. read more

The best Korean place in Dublin. I've eaten here maybe now 20 times and I keep coming back. Japchae is delicious, most authentic korean BBQ in Dublin and plenty of side dishes. Very friendly staff and reasonably priced. Soju and plum wine also available if you want to try some authentic korean alcoholic drinks. Really disappointed with my last visit to Arisu. I got my usual bibimbap, all excited and ready to go. It arrives out - looks fine on first inspection; on second inspection, WHERE'S THE MEAT!!! There were two small slivers of meat in there and that was it. My friend who was eating the same thing had the same issue. It was really disappointing. I've always championed Arisu and their food to everyone I come across, but if they're trying to save money by padding out meals with veg instead of meat, I'd advise them to rethink their strategy as honestly that would make me rethink coming back. I love Arisu though, so I will go back (though I don't think my friend will), I just hope that it was a blip and the meat dish actually comes with meat! read more

I am not lying; this place is amazing. I am talking about food. Place might be not blistering of glamour, but it is kinda authentical and is a great experience. What you should try. Any BBQ dish. Why, because it will be barbecued in front of you. That's left, I mean right. One benefit of this BBQ in the middle of a table is that your food stays hot for quite long time. Food quality - couldn't be more satisfied. What amazed me and intrigued was plenty of side dishes with main course. I ended up eating one thing with bare hands, then another with chop sticks and then with a spoon. So cool that was, unless you're tidy freak person and don't like to get your hands dirty. Place has two main dining rooms. Both are just fine. Staff is Korean and one of the nicest I've met. Will advise you in every way. If you're a beer lover, I recommend Japanese bottles beer Asari (I think it's called 0.33 ml). This place is must visit keeping in mind that you order a BBQ dish. read more
