Can't tell you is the best restaurant ever but it is a great experience. To try a new cuisine (never tasted korean food before) in such a nice atmosphere is something I can recommend anyone for a night out. The dishes were ok, very honest, lots of food on the plate, very tasty. I was intrigued by the "taps" above the tables, I still don't know what are they for. PS. Our dishes came a little late so they gave us prawn crackers for free... Man, they are THE BEST PRAWN CRACKERS I've ever tasted. Ask for them! They really taste like prawns! Finally! PS. 2. Our waitress was very kind (a Korean girl working in Dublin who can speak Spanish, take that!)

    Karaoke room

I came here twice, both were special occasions where we had booked a private karaoke room which costs €100. However, you can either order €100 worth of food/ drink and have the room free, or just pay €100 for the room and no food, or if you order food less than €100 worth of food, then you pay that plus the remaining balance up to €100 for the room. There are about 5 karaoke rooms which are big with the large round tables used in Chinese restaurants with the spinning thing in the middle to share food. Food: They have two separate menus; one for Chinese customers and one for everyone else as we had one girl in out party who spoke Chinese and tried asking for the Chinese menu to see it there was anything different! (I'm not sure if there was). But they a very extensive menu, mainly Chinese food with a bit of Korean food like Bibimbap and BBQ, and some sushi. Although if it's sushi you're after, then this is not the place as the ingredients are not very sushi-like. I had bibimbap which was ok, the portion was massive compared to other places I've had it so we shared. Most of the things on the menu seemed to be served for sharing, in that everything was served on large plates and placed in the middle. I'm not a huge fan of Chinese and Korean food so the food wasn't my cup of tea, but my friends who love that food said it tasted good! The number of vegetarian dishes are limited to half a page, but I'm not sure if they are 100% veggie as they could've been cooked in a meaty broth so it's best to check if in doubt. Service: The service was ok, the staff were friendly and accommodating despite their English not being exactly perfect. I had a bit of trouble getting my order across, but luckily my Chinese speaking friend ordered for all of us and it all went smoothly. I don't really know what we would have done without her to be honest! If you speak Chinese or are with someone who does, then I'd say make use of that! Karaoke machine: It's a Chinese machine so the controls are only in Chinese, but they have almost 1000 or more songs in English, Japanese, Korean and Chinese mainly. The search function on our machine was broken so we had to sift through 100s of artists and songs, but you can filter it by Foreign artist (which means American, Japanese and Korean), and then I think the other categories were Chinese, Taiwan and Hong Kong. You can also filter songs by language which made it a bit easier although they weren't in alphabetical order. Another thing, I think the songs on the machines vary in each room, like a few song we sang on our previous visit was not in this machine. We've probably tried almost every karaoke bar in the city and Parnell street, and I'd say this one is the best with the biggest collection of songs, lovely rooms and a very Asian atmosphere! Overall: A hidden karaoke gem and also made our "regular karaoke place", food was cheap but taste-wise I'd give it 4 or 5/10, and the staff could work a bit on their English perhaps.

    Hotpot

Very eeeenteresting. The hotpot caught my eye so I decided to try this rather than the bog standard Chinese dishes. The staff were really helpful (and are very nice in general) but forgot to tell me basic things like how to switch on the hot ring on the table because obviously even a child knows where the switch is, right? Alas as a novice in this situation, I am not as smart as an Asian child. A very nice fellow guest sitting beside me helped out. I was given a tour of the sauces and the bowls involved as well as the buffet of side dishes. The buffet contained greens, tofu, noodles and various forms of small silvery betoothed and betentacled seafood. Feeling I had already been adventurous enough by choosing the hotpot, I stuck to the greens. So, I had my sauces in my sauce dish, I I had my plates of greens and then the staff brought a simmering bowl of broth and the meat I requested, slices of lamb. All set! It was a lovely meal which you can cook at your own pace and, thanks to the buffet of sauces, to your own tastes. The hotpot at Lao is not too challenging, quite delicious, and kind of fun. It's also healthy as there was no salt or MSG in the ingredients, it's as fresh as it could possibly be. I'm definitely going back for more, and now that's it's not at all intimidating to me, I may even try the seafood parts of the buffet. All credit to the serving staff, they really wanted me to enjoy my first experience and I did, tremendously.

    Duck heads... Very hot!

As usual when I go to Chinese restaurants with my Chinese friends they always order the food which is a good thing and also a bad thing... Only because they order too much (even though it still gets eaten) This place is great. They have hot pot available which is hot plates on your table to keep your hot pot.. Well hot! It was a nice surprise when our friend told us she had booked a karaoke room.. SOO MUCH FUN! These are in the basement.. The table maybe fits 8 but they can probably fit more. The food was really good, some things were a strange texture as it wasn't what I was use to but everything had amazing flavour!

Really liked it here! If your looking for real Chinese food, you've come to the right spot you can always rent out a room as well which includes your own karaoke machine and waiter or waitress for the evening. I love it here! Literally nearly ate everything on the menu and loved it all sushi is a definite and I would highly recommend it here

    Yes for Chinese menu!

We ordered their homemade dumplings which was boiled dipped in a special soy sauce. Veggies, beef, seafood, pork were all very good. Saw many folks ordering their hotpot which essentially is a boiling clay pot with veggies and your choice of protein . Tea and beer were reasonable. Simple decor and just table and chairs laid out. I do recommend this place if you're looking for delicious Chinese food without breaking the bank!

It's what we would've wanted anyway, but by the time we walked over, it was 10:45. There was only 1 other table still there and we were still greeted warmly, as we sheepishly popped our head in. We were presented with Chinese menus, which were not an issue for me, but my husband doesn't read Chinese. No problem, they had English menus as well. I noticed that the Chinese menu had a lot of 家常菜 or 'homestyle dishes', (at roughly 14-20 Euros) which are usually meant for sharing as a 4-top, or a family. Therefore, they're a bit more labor intensive and is not just a stir-fry/takeout menu. However, on the last few pages, there were smaller individual dishes at around 7-10Euros, and that's what we went with as we didn't want leftovers and wanted to eat quickly and turn in. As shown in the photos, we got 2 noodle soups and they turned out huge!!! I got the 3 seafood with mushrooms rice thick noodles (三鮮菇米線)while hubby got the beef noodle soup (牛肉麵). They didn't skimp on the meats, seafood, or the noodles. We devoured everything in roughly 10 minutes and polished off the pot of tea plus some lamb skewers by 11:05. The staff didn't seem bothered that we had overstayed closing time, and were still very courteous. I may be biased bc I very much love getting stuffed on noodles and soups, but this was one of the best meals I've had in Europe.

Noodles are cost effective at 5euro per portion but In my opinion they are nothing special. I'd normally only order here if I was famished while leaving the city centre. On a couple of occasions I ordered the noodles while requesting non-spicy and what do I get?, 'Burn the mouth off ya spicy noodles' . Now I do love spicy food but I also like a break from it at times. They also have other Chinese-inspired foods available, again they're okay but wouldn't blow your mind. My friend and I ordered from Wok On Inn for delivery. The spare ribs smelled like raw meat that had been sitting around for about a week. We ordered two big boxes, with spare ribs which remained untouched (with the lid on, the smell was too much to bare), prawn crackers and soft drinks. In my 'big box' I got chicken balls which were ok but I could only eat 1.5, the driest noodles of all time, chicken wings and thai green curry with shrivelled lumps of tofu I actually mistook for a misplaced dehydrated chip. The prepackaged diet coke and prawn crackers (which are extremely hard to mess up, let's be real) were the stars/only consumable parts of the meal. Would not recommend.

Nestled in the multicultural area of Dublin 1, Lee's Charming Noodles is an unassuming, "blink and…read moreyou'll miss it" little cafe, but don't let its unassuming exterior fool you: it's a Dublin favorite with flavorful dishes that pack a punch. Once inside, the space is compact yet welcoming, with cramped and casual seating, and simple décor that makes you feel like you've stepped into a local favourite rather than a tourist trap. The vibe is relaxed and informal: great for a quick lunch, casual dinner, or late-night noodle craving. At around 7:30pm on Valentine's Day, my party of four arrived at the restaurant, which was packed full. However, the lady at the counter told us that our wait would be shorter if we divided up into parties of two; with two tables, we ended up only waiting about ten minutes. The menu is extensive, with the eponymous noodles (with a variety of soups, fried dishes, etc.), various proteins, and vegetables. Each table comes with salt, pepper, vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil to doctor up your dishes as you'd like, which we appreciated. We ordered their House Special Pan-Fried Noodle (€17.80), with beef, chicken, pork, and prawns. It didn't seem like a large portion, but it was surprisingly filling, and not overly greasy, despite being fried. The noodles maintained an al-dente toothsomeness, soaking up a savory, almost gravy-like sauce, and all of the meat/prawns were cooked nicely. The Szechuan Style Mapo Tofu (€13.80) was truly a surprising delight; a staple dish in almost every Chinese restaurant, Lee's version is absolutely lovely. The tofu is soft and pillowly, soaking up an addictive sauce with that numbing mala spice that keeps you coming back for more. Rice is extra (€2.50), but I would highly recommend it to mix with the mapo tofu. Their Hot & Sour Braised Beef Noodle Soup (€11.80, extra €2 to switch to flat and extra wide hand-pulled noodles) was delicious; topped with succulent chunks of melt-in-your-mouth braised beef, bok choy, and hand-pulled extra-wide noodles soaked up the spicy, acidic broth with a hit of vinegar. Additionally, their Chicken Noodle (€11.80) was another hit; it's a warm, comforting, clean broth, with tender slices of dark meat chicken, and we ordered it with rice noodles. We absolutely loved our meal at Lee's; it's the kind of place where the focus is squarely on the food rather than ambience, and the atmosphere reflects that. We didn't expect to find such a hidden gem (and perhaps the best Chinese food we've had in Europe), offering generous portions and satisfying flavors without a hefty bill. Certainly a recommendation if you're in the area!
