Stopped in with wife for a quick dinner. We're locals and this was our first time in the place since it re-opened. The decor was really well done, time and thought went into the first floor. There is a stage and bar upstairs but it was not in use at the time of our visit. Anyway, wasn't really greeted at the door, the hostess was scribbling in a book, looked up at us and continued writing, an acknowledgement would have gone a long way. I even bent down rested my elbow on the desk and moved into her bubble before she said anything. Once we were noticed she took us to our seat in a "section closed" area. I asked her about it, she mumbled something about who cares. We had I believe three servers help us, the first gave us water, the second took our order and a third brought our order. The first person brought water and asked if we had any questions; sure my wife replied, what is the soup today; well I don't know she said and promptly left. The second server came and took our order. She was really upbeat and even knew what the soup was. The menu was pretty basic; salad, burgers, short ribs, sandwiches. The wine and beer list were standard as well. The prices were moderate by Wood River Valley standards. During our wait for our meal I noticed the glass divider separating booths was about to fall from its mountings, I asked to speak to the manager. Some lady came by and asked what the issue was, I pointed out the problem with the divider and she said it was a good catch she'll tell management, thanks a bunch and I'll come back to see how your meal was, she never returned. Our meals arrived and they were tasty and well presented, good value here. Another person who could have been a manager camee too our table asked how the food and service was. My wife related the lack of knowledge concerning the soup and the manager replied that it must have been the hostess and promptly walked off.
So, the decor is nice, the food is good, the prices are reasonable, but the service is, I can't put my finger on the right words. It's not totally uncaring, it's lackluster and lacking basic service attitude, attention to detail. Immature is a good word.
Yes, we'll return if for no other reason than to see if they fixed the divider and ask about the soup. read more
